I've been going to this bakery for many, many years. The butter bar danish is a MUST- the danish is baked soft with a sweet/ slightly crunchy center (no idea what this delicious filling is but you won't regret it) and a crumble on top. Plus it's only $7 which is a steal for something so delicious. Parking is either on the street in front of the building or there's a lot on the side of the building that fits roughly 4-5 cars. The girl in here was nice and friendly, and helped me figure out which products to buy. I have to be honest though. Not to knock you if you love this stuff, and you may well. It's cheap and looks great. But I didn't really like the baked goods here. They weren't awful, and the people I shared them with at home (3 different people) thought they were great. I just wasn't particularly enthused. Maybe I'm really picky. But when it's this cheap and this cute and the service is nice, and did I mention the prices, wow... and when it makes the people at my house happy... Very reasonably priced, old fashion, from scratch, incredibly tasty baked goods. I recommend taking their unique, one of a kind butter bar to parties. Great place to pickup old world pastries... D&L bakery is a hidden gem and you wouldn't pass it unless you happened to be driving through the village of Depew. I stopped in for the first time on a Saturday afternoon and picked up a few treats to go. Prices were good considering the quality of the treats and size, and that there aren't too many bakeries that bake this style anymore. Next time I'll stop back here earlier in the day so there's more of a selection to choose from. read more

This sweet little bakery in the heart of Lancaster makes you feel like you've stepped back in time. The prices are fantastic and the pastries are delicious. what more could you ask for? They're pastry hearts are fluffy and flaky with a thick vanilla frosting over the top. My favorite was something I think was called a "flip", similar to a turnover, this pastry is filled with almond paste and raspberry filling. My son and I loved our visit! We have been hunting for donuts in WNY and D&L Bakery did not disappoint!!! I was excited to learn this bakery has been around for over 100 years! The donuts were delicious, they have an old school cake taste that is not found anywhere else! I loved the way they slice the "filled" donuts and put the white cream in the middle! There is a reason they have been around for over 100 years!! This hidden gem is worth the trip to find it!!! You wouldn't find this place if you weren't looking for it, it's not on a main road! This place is tucked out of the normal grind but it's a 4th generation Polish family bakery everything owned from scratch! prices are super cheap and it is all very homemade tasting and feeling - not too many people know about this place but i will tell you it's a diamond. they provide charlie the butchers' kimmelweck rolls for all of his places as well as many of the restaurants around town - you're probably eating their rolls and bread when you go out to eat! best rye bread ever and i didn't used to like rye bread till them! now the pastries - mmmmm...... fantastic almond bar, danish (individual and bar type to share!), doughnuts, pies and cakes. oh if you need a wedding cake - check them out! super cheap and totally under priced! they are worth every penny and more! i beg of you to at least check it out read more

I stopped in at this bakery last week and tried a few different things..a jelly doughnut it was greasy and flavorless and day old at best, I bought 3. Peanut stick doughnuts they were cute and small but stale, nothing worse than a stale doughnut, I also bought this lemon filled pastry it looked wonderful but tasteless. Finally I bought a few creamed horn pastrys those were wonderful. I don't know if it was an off day but not worth the $15 I spend. What a shame if I knew what day everything was fresh I might try it again? read more

I came here a little over a month ago from a recomendation from a friend. While the desserts themselves were slightly above par; I found the service and atmosphere quite poor. The woman behind the cash register was quite sweet and a very good employee; however, I could hear a woman and a man in the kitchen talking and their language was quite lude and not acceptable in a business enviroment. I believe this place may have had potential if it were not for the crude behavior I experienced. One of the worst bakeries i have been to. Read the glowing reviews made a special trip. The doughnuts were very dry and heavy. The platzek was horrible, no flavor and dry (wegmans is better ) the almond pastry was also dry and not very good, Cohens rye and tops or wegmans are better. Did not try the rolls yet. $20 of baked goods went to the birds and in the garbage. read more
