Very disappointing restaurant. Was craving dim sum for couple days and finally decided to grab some dim sum. I had high expectations for this restaurant since the reviews were so great. I am not mad about the service cause the poor guy was working by himself. We understood his struggle. The food here was not great. The food was lacking in flavor and taste straight up oil in certain dishes. We couldn't continue eating cause we were just feeling sick from it. Really wished I liked this spot but it's a hell no for it. Never again. Wasted $80 on food we did not enjoy. read more

We traveled to Chicago (from Los Angeles) and were surprised to find such a delicious dim sum restaurant! In our 1 week visit, we returned to D Cuisine 2 more times. The dumplings were filled with seafood! Each Har gow probably had 5 or 6 shrimps inside. They hardly use any filler, just enough binder to keep the dumplings together. Our favorite dish was the creamy egg yolk buns. Every part of it was perfection. The outside had a sweet and crispy coating. The bun was nice and soft. The most special part was the egg yolk filling. Ooey gooey, sweet with a perfect slight amount of savoryness. After having an order, we got another to go. Then came back 2 days later for more. Then ended our vacation by buying a box of 18 of them. Had pregnancy cravings for dim sum, so gave this place a try via DoorDash. Food arrived ahead of schedule and at a good temperature. Everything was packaged well with ventilation holes, so nothing was soggy. As some reviews mentioned, some items can come off as a little bland, but as a pregnant woman suffering from heartburn and food sensitivities, I thought everything was perfect. This is my go to, quick fix for dumplings within the lake view and Lincoln park area. Be warned- this place is not great about achieving excellent service but I don't mind because the food is delicious. I would also recommend this as a great spot for takeout. I always get the dim sum each time and love the Siu Mai and shrimp dumplings. I tried the stir fried sticky rice for the first time- it was enjoyable but I prefer some of their other dishes. In terms of vegetables, I alway get the Chinese broccoli with garlic sauce. It is super simple, clear and delish. It love this dish!! My husband gets either the General Tso's chicken or orange chicken. The chicken is perfectly crispy in each dish and the sauces a great. We visited this place by chance, their food was greet. My husband had their General Zsao chicken which is like orange chicken and I just tasted it and asked for one myself. The restaurant has a very calm atmosphere, little to no crowd in fact I was a little drawn back on doing a review cause I know once this place blows up, it will be at capacity. Solid dim sum spot! During Covid, they've taken measures to be safer including take out orders only, a desk right at the front with sanitizer, and easy order pick up options. Just call in your order, pay over the phone, and grab it from the desk when it's done. We ordered siu mai, shrimp dumplings, chicken feet, fried taro ball, and the creamy baked egg yolk bun (not the steamed one). The siu mai, shrimp dumplings, and chicken feet were all done well, the fried taro puff was a little oiler than I like, but the creamy baked egg yolk buns were outstanding. Seriously, you need to get these bun. They're just as good, if not better, than Min Hings egg yolk buns. The outside dough is sweet and chewy, like brioche, the top is flaky and crunchy like craquelin, and the inside has a sweet, custardy lava filling. So so good. If you're tempted to reheat these, be careful not to cook the filling, though it's still delicious if you do. Overall, D Cuisine is a solid dim sum spot. Come support this local business! read more

Dinned here on a Sunday evening. Restaurant was empty and with in 30 min many people came. We have ordered two dishes. American Broccoli Garlic and Vegetable Fried Rice. Both of the dishes were perfectly cooked and very tasty. They serve a free kettle of hot Jasmin Tea for everyone. We asked for spicy and it came out with perfect spice level. I'm thankful that this spot is still open during these uncertain times. While it will probably be sometime before we can truly enjoy a dine in experience again, I'll say their dim sum to go was fantastic! After getting tired of eating in, we worked up the courage to phone in a sizable dim sum order for three. On a positive note, they're still offering early bird dim sum specials for $1.80 for two items Mondays - Fridays from 8am - 12noon. Yay! From the shi mai, shrimp dumplings, pork buns, pot stickers and assorted rolls we ordered, nothing disappointed. Easily been over two months since we've had dim sum out, and I'll say this spot definitely hit the spot! Would also recommend the pan fried turnip cakes. Awesome delivery experience during COVID. The website was easy to use and delivery was on time as expected. I ordered a wide range of dishes: Mongolian beef, chicken with peppers and black bean sauce, pea tips with tofu, steamed fish with chili peppers, hot and sour soup and egg drop soup. All of it was delicious and were large family size portions meant for sharing as most Chinese restaurants. The soups containers were a tad shorter than the average 16 oz...it was a 12 oz because it doesn't match my other deli containers. Let me preface this by saying I've tried D Cuisine a few months ago a la delivery. Today was my first time seeing the restaurant & scheduling pick up. As I pulled up, I had a "hey-I-never-left-a-review" moment. Time to change that. I arrived promptly before my scheduled time & lucked up on street parking. Considering the current state of things (COVID), I decided to give it a few extra minutes past my scheduled time. It's winter & I'd rather not play the "get back in/out of the car" game. Turns out my food was hot & ready. I appreciated the holes in the containers so things stay crisp, etc.. My food stayed warm even by the time I got home - about a 20 min drive. When ordering, I took this into consideration as we all know how some items just aren't very good cold/reheated. I ordered soy sauce noodles, shrimp rolls, & shumai. All were delicious. Shrimp rolls were still crisp, shumai were plump & juicy, & the noodles were wonderful. I wasn't prepared for the portion but was delighted at what seemed like a never ending container of my favorite. While yes, their pricing is a bit more than their Chinatown competitors, I am absolutely happy to pay more for the convenience of this location & quality of food. Very good food. We dined in and had a great time. All the appetizers and entrees were great. Shout-out to the potsticker and shrimp roll appetizers and the orange chicken entree in particular. The restaurant is bright and clean. Service is friendly, although I wish a bit more attentive with water refills, telling our party of four that appetizers only included three pieces, etc. It's a BYOB establishment and very good: we ate a ton and our bill for four people before tip was under $100. Ridiculously delicious, super reasonably priced, with a ton of great options. Huge fan. I've ordered D Cuisine as takeout or delivery 3-4 times now, and it has become one of my favorite spots. I generally order a bunch of the dim sum items and then a noodle dish as well--especially good if you're splitting with a couple other people, so you can try a lot of the different items. Of the noodles, I've had Beef Chow Fun and Pan-fried noodles, both great--I'd imagine all the noodle dishes are quite good. My favorite dim sum item is the BBQ Pork Turnover / Pastry--although twice I've tried to order this and been told it's sold out, but the one time I had it, I was pretty blown away. A delicious pastry with some sweet sauced pork inside, it's a pretty unusual dish, and a great one. The other dim sum items are great as well--I like the shrimp dumplings, bacon cheese potato rolls (a wrap with cheesy potatoes and a bit of bacon stuffed inside--just warm, creamy, and delicious), and pot stickers. Every time I order, I try to add a few more items, but I haven't encountered a bad one yet. Highly recommend getting a group of friends and trying as much as you can! read more

Nothing is better then a BYOB restaurant that you get seated at right away. We didn't order any of the meals but ate a ton of the dim sum, the dim sum menu was small but good - every item we got was amazing (which was essentially the entire dim sum menu). My favorite by far was any of the buns with the pork in it . There wasn't a bad thing on the list . The staff was quick and friendly - the seating was immediately . D Cuisine is a very cozy spot to visit in Lincoln Park. The staff is friendly and we noticed they have a nice relationship with the regulars which made the interior feel even more welcoming. D Cuisine has a large menu which includes both full plates and Dim Sum. As for the pictures, you can see we chose to eat Dim Sum. I really liked all the items and my favorite were Honey Short Ribs, Sesame balls and the Siumai. The pricing is good, food comes out decently quick, and there's a good amount of options. Everything tasted authentic was well. My goodness, what a great surprise. The dim sum was exceptional. We got both of the bean curd dim sum dishes, a plethora of steamed dumplings, mango pudding, sesame balls, and pineapple buns. The dumplings were gigantic! And full of flavor! We honestly could have stopped any half of our order because the dishes were so large, but we didn't know what to expect.
