Really great Cantonese dim sum and dishes to order! The Shrimp w/ Salted Egg Yolk is delicious! And the dim sum is great. The Chicken feet were AMAZING!!!!! A few suggestions: DIM SUM -Taro cakes Your guys' taro cakes are THICK (but delicious)!Maybe try serving 4 pieces, and trimming the thickness a little! -Bean Curd skin Great filling! The texture is so crispy inside. But each time I've gotten this, the tofu skin is really hard on the outside. I'd suggest soaking the skin a little longer to make it easier to bite through. I ordered the salt pepper smelt and salt pepper fish fillet before; it was very oily and the smelt were kind of dried up. Great dim sum in Chicago--a rare find outside of Chinatown. If you've been craving chicken feet, dumplings, and bbq pork buns, look no further than D Cuisine on Clark! I put in a take out order around 5 pm on a Thursday night. The order was ready about 15 minutes later, and I was treated to some of the tastiest, most flavorful Chinese food I've had in the city. The shu mai was juicy and tender. The bbq pork buns were soft and sweet. And don't even get me started on the fried turnip cake. Perhaps best of all though was the sticky rice, which was perfectly cooked with a bit of saltiness from the meat and just a touch of fishiness from the dried shrimp--an absolute treat! The only thing that I thought was just okay was the chicken feet. Still pretty good, but just didn't wow me, you know. Overall a very solid meal. Ordered take-out, and the first good sign was that it came early! (Projected hour and 10 mins, but came in 40 mins) Everything came hot and ready to eat. I really wanted to try a number of their dinner dishes, so I definitely over-ordered, but I enjoyed everything I got. Pricing is a bit on the higher end for Chinese food, but it's in line with the location and higher quality. I found it to be more authentic than most Chinese food that caters to Americans. The flavors were there and cooked well. The only dish "complaint" was I didn't care for the pork in the Twice Cooked Pork because it was very hard/dry and fatty- This may just be a personal preference. So everything tasted fine, but I do have a problem with their "Daily Special" Chicken dish. I ordered the ginger-scallion Half-Chicken, and what I got was not half of a chicken but more like 1/16 of the back-and-butts of 8 chickens. There was no breast, no drumstick, nor thigh. Just a miscellaneous bunch of boney and fatty pieces with little meat on them. And they were chopped up in a way that tiny pieces of bone were embedded into most pieces, so it made for perilous eating to boot. read more

My experience was horrible with D Cuisine! I ordered directly from the restaurant's website for a future order at 10:15 am pick up on Saturday, December 5, 2020. I ordered at 9:35 am and the website said that 10:15 am was available for pick up. Restaurant listed online and on window of restaurant that they are opened at 8 am. The time they actually opened is at 10:30 am. I have called in the past to order my food and someone mentioned that they will be opened at 10 am. Unfortunately, I arrived at 10:10 am and the lights were off and the D Cuisine was NOT opened. It finally opened at 10:30 am. I got there and asked if my 10:15 am order was ready for pick up, the young woman worker-CiCi stated that it will be another 15 minutes. First, I was promised 10:15 am. Second, they charged my credit card already. My order was paid for. Third, I had to deal with an unprofessional CiCi who just said that she came late to work and sorry for being late. I asked for the manager's name. CiCi refused to give me her manger's name or contact information. Regardless, if you are open or not, don't allow customers to order ahead on your direct website if you are going to be late or not open until 30 mins after the stated time. When I came back after 15 mins like CiCi said, she said my turnip cakes were not ready yet. I overheard her speaking Cantonese to the cook and stated that I was "arrogant" customer. I am not arrogant because I called you on being 30 mins late to work. Making a paying customer wait 33 mins extra when you promise food at a specific time and to call a customer "arrogant" in a different language does not make it okay. This is unacceptable. I spoke back to her Cantonese instead of English. CiCi was surprised that I spoke fluent Cantonese. Not only was CiCi being unprofessional for showing up late but to call a paying customer "arrogant" is not acceptable regardless if you think I don't spoke the language. Finally , I got my order at 10:48 am, 33 mins after the promised time and CiCi who refuses to give me the manager's name. This is unprofessional and unacceptable. I will make sure, I contact the BBB about the horrible service I received. I later called D Cuisine around 8 pm, to find the manager of D Cuisine. CiCi answered and told me that Benny was the name of the manager and he was not at the restaurant currently. About 1 hour later, Benny gives me a call and poor excuses for the misleading information out there opening times and excuses for the lateness of CiCi. He informed me that CiCi is actually the OWNER OF D CUISINE! I was shocked by this. How do you have the OWNER asking their manager to call me back, when clearly she could have handled it because you are the owner. I wanted to support local businesses during pandemic, but this experience makes it hard to do so. I told Benny how unprofessional and unacceptable this experience was. He refunded my order, but if this was handled properly to begin with, this should have been done right when I got my food at 10:48 am (33 minutes after promised time). read more

Great food with an extensive menu and tons of dishes to try! We did a combo of some dim sum options and a couple of entrees. We tried the shrimp dumplings, pan fried pot stickers, and pork buns and liked them all. The shrimp dumplings had nice big pieces of shrimp and the pot stickers were very flavorful. The pork buns were good but a little too sweet. For entrees, we had the stir fried shrimp with scallops which was delicious and had lots of delicious seafood. We also tried the healthy veggie dish which was ok but had a little too much garlic. We also didn't really care for the yam. We finished with the baked egg yolk buns which were incredible and so unexpected! I would order 100 more of those next time. The staff was so so friendly and the restaurant was super clean. Pretty good! I hate Sunday brunch (see my profile handle) and am always looking for places i can go where I don't have to eat eggs + whatever didn't sell this week. My friends and I split all dim sum. We got the crab rangoon, short rib, shrimp rolls, steamed pork buns, pork gyoza and shumai. Our order came with a variety of sauces, which was nice - some were sweet, some a bit more savory and the shrimp rolls came with a chilli sauce. My favorite was the pork buns. The bun is fluffy and light - i only wish there was more filling - i make these at home and can never get the bun quite like these restaurants do. My least favorite was the gyoza, which are often my fav! They were packed with filling but whatever veg was in there with the meat was a tad over powering for me. Short rib seasoning was really good - meat was a tad chewy but the amount per piece was generous. They also offer full meals and their dim sum menu would be considered a bit limited for a pure dim sum place, but I was happy with our meal and would happily return. read more

This is a review for the delivery. It's kind of sad that the most popular items for delivery at this restaurant aside from the dim sum options are egg rolls, orange chicken and general tso's chicken. This restaurant has a number of pretty authentic and tasty options on its menu. We enjoyed this place more than many of the places we have tried in Chinatown. We had yang zhou chou fan (yang chow fried rice), dou miao (pea pod tips), and clams in black bean sauce. We also had some of dim sum options - shao mai (shu mai), xia jiao (shrimp dumplings) and zi ma chiu (sesame balls). All of it was pretty legit and delicious. The shrimp dumplings were plump and nice, the clams were mild and seasoned well, and the sesame balls were filled with red bean (!!!) rather than some of the other nasty things I've seen at other places (like peanut butter, bleah!). The dim sum menu is pretty limited - there are many classic dim sum dishes that are not present, most notably it is missing chang fun (rice noodle rolls with shrimp) and sticky rice. D Cuisine is so delicious and having it down the street for pickup during the stay at home order has been amazing!! Everything is flavorful and authentic, and not overly Americanized. Plus, the portions are generous and you will almost definitely have leftovers. My favorite things are the General Tso's chicken (sauce is to die for), pan-fried noodle, and black bean sauce & pepper chicken. But the real unsung hero of the menu is the Garlic Broccoli. It is so unbelievably flavorful and perfectly cooked, and garlic sauce just soaks right into it. I'm drooling. My only complaint is that not all the noodle dishes can be made with different meats. I've been dying to try the chow fun, but it's only made with beef which I don't eat :( Nevertheless, with a 4 page menu, there is easily something for everyone. read more

I cannot stress enough the level of service and how delicious the food is here. I've been coming here for maybe over a year now. Even now that the city has lifted Covid measures the staff continues to follow strict guidelines in there establishments. I watch the staff continue to wear mask, clean tables consistently, wash hands after each table touch and touching their faces. Delicious, fresh, authentic Cantonese food! My family and friends have become regulars here because this place does NOT disappoint! As a Cantonese American who has had dim sum all over the world, I feel pretty confident that D Cuisine has a super authentic menu and the quality of the food is always 100% fresh and perfectly seasoned. Since I discovered this place, I stopped going to Chinatown for good Cantonese food because honestly this place is so good. The dim sum menu is not as extensive as Chinatown menus, but you have everything you need. My favorites are the classics: shrimp dumplings (seriously always fresh, plump, perfect), siu mai (yum), turnip cakes (my favorite. By far best in Chicago), congee (always a must- very authentic). If you have a sweet tooth, you HAVE to try the salty egg yolk bun - your mind will be blown As far as the regular menu, I'm super impressed by how authentic and extensive it is. It's very Cantonese. I've almost had every item on the menu and have never been disappointed. For the basics, try the beef chow fun, Singapore rice noodles, yang chow fried rice, any of the half-chicken orders (ginger scallion is my favorite). Very friendly staff, including owner who always makes an effort to say hello if you go there often. Always clean. I have ordered delivery multiple times and the quality travels well. My wife and I were delighted to discover this newer dim sum location so much closer to us than Chinatown! I suspect we'll be frequenting here way more often. We ordered an assortment of dim sum (siu mai, shrimp dumplings, green chive dumplings, pot stickers) and all were just so yummy! They are exactly what I would normally expect to taste at a Chinatown location except we were in Lincoln Park right across from a Banana Republic outlet lol We knew we needed to order some veggies to go along with our dim sum, so we ordered our usual peapod leaves, and we were pleasantly surprised to see the option to cook them with tofu. Altogether, we had plenty of left overs to take home, but we can't wait to come back and try more menu items! True authentic Chinese cuisine in Lincoln Park?! Unheard of. Until now, thanks to D Cuisine! We were looking for a quick bite before a movie, and I'm so happy we discovered this place! Located right near the intersection of Diversey, Clark, and Broadway, D Cuisine offers authentic Chinese cuisine in a clean modern space with attentive service and tasty dishes! The place was about half full on Friday evening, and we were seated quickly. Hot tea came right away. The tea was great. For dinner we took the Singapore noodles and Beef Chow Fun, with a hot and sour soup to start. The soup came out hot, and was thick and filled with lots of ingredients. It had the perfect amount of spice. Our main dishes came out shortly after and were steaming! The Singapore noodles were so delicious. They were filled with pork and shrimp, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The chow fun was delicious as well. I can't say enough good things about our experience at D's! The noodles were super soft and there was so much sauce it was more of a soup than a noodle dish. The broccoli with garlic was overcooked, too. Per their website, Cantonese style cooking with Hong Kong inspired dim sum by a trained chef. Cool! and it shows. Their dim sum menu is served fresh daily and the pricing is spot on /comparable to their DS competitors. Dim sum usually contains just a serving or two, so the pricing is kept low. Their regular menu items though reflect inflation pricing. I like veggie dishes but wow, $14 for broccoli tossed in garlic. Speaking of which, some entrées are as basic as their ingredients list and others really capture your taste buds. Food is stellar. The food plating, the setting, the surroundings, the unique ways their food is served, all of it is entertaining /appreciated. Service staff in general is alright. Their waitstaff can accommodate light conversation and come up with recommendations. But once food is delivered these guys are long gone. They have cameras in the restaurant, but are they actively monitoring them to see if customers have additional requests? That's how I felt the other day. At one point I got up and started waving my hands as if landing a plane. The waiter had been gone quite awhile and he wasn't present on the dining floor. A bit of information from staff in that regard helps customers to understand their situation. Gives us pause to give them some extra time or learn how they'd like us to get their attention. Another request; a bit of cleanup after a customer had dined would be great. Seems like the person watching front of house has much on their plate. So, keeping up with cleaning tables and floors, serving customers and taking orders can make things hectic and leave them, forgetful. I have to mention this.. they don't offer any soup dumplings or Chinese eggplant. This bums me out. Two of my favorite items and they aren't on the menu. Was so glad to find a dim sum place open on Xmas day. The pros: interesting menu, pretty inexpensive, tasty, pretty attentive staff (though almost a bit too attentive. It wasn't very busy when we stopped by at 11:15am, so servers came to refill our water after almost every sip and tried to take things away before we were finished). The not-as-pros: not a ton of options for non-pork, non-shrimp eaters, but we made do. There are plenty of chicken and beef options, but if you're a complete vegetarian, this might not be the place for you. Not great. D Cuisine has a small menu for dim sum. The deep fried taro puffs were a hit with my Chinese friend and I personally liked the Chinese broccoli the best. Despite the dishes being good, I don't plan to return since I feel like I've tried everything on the dim sum menu and because towards the end of our meal a reptile tv show was playing on the TV. I'm lucky to live close to Chinatown, and most of my trips down there involve dim sum (other trips are usually for hot pot). Cai, Ming Hin, Dolo, and Triple Crown are all great spots. Unfortunately, my sister and a couple of my closest friends live up in Lincoln Park, pretty much in between Chinatown and Furama up in Argyle. So, being the nice guy that I am, I came to D Cuisine with them to check out the hot new dim sum in town. The first thing I notice immediately is how small D Cusine is, at least compared to Chinatown spots. No giant round tables here, and the overall capacity is a fraction of what some of the behemoths can handle. Probably explains why my one friend said this place is usually pretty packed, though when we came on a Sunday morning we had no wait. The hours are pretty nice here too. Not past midnight like Chinatown, but still a good place for a late night dinner. And I have to say - the service is well beyond Chinatown standards here. I actually got water without having to repeatedly ask for it, and any sauces we requested were promptly given to us. I'm sure a smaller building helps with the better service, but the location must play a part too. They have a large regular menu, and decent size dim sum menu. It's still missing some of the greatest hits like crepes and more dumplings, but I hear they're planning on expanding it. We ordered a bit of everything, including shrimp rolls, taro puffs, bbq buns, short ribs and shumai, and Singapore noodles off the regular menu. Everything was solid and pretty much exactly like Chinatown, except for the shumai, which was disappointing because they're my favorite. Mine were either undercooked or the meat was off. I expect shumai to be tender, but these were stringy and chewy. Hopefully they can improve the quality since these are always my dim sum go-to. But everything else was great and we were all stuffed by the end of it.. Overall I don't think this place is so amazing that I'll make the lengthy journey to come up here, especially since I'm so close to other options, but I do think it's a great addition to LP and I wouldn't mind meeting up my family and friends here again.
