I used to love this place when they first opened and quickly became a regular. Unfortunately, there has been a huge decline in the longevity of my gel/powder manicures the past two times I've gone there. I have talked to my other friends and they have all noticed the same thing. My gel manicures were starting to only last a week before chipping so I paid a little more to try the dip powder after being told that they're better for my nails and will last longer. So I paid an extra $10 for the dip powder manicure only for them to chip a week later (they're supposed to last 3 weeks). Not sure if they've changed the quality of polishes/products they're using but I will not be coming back. read more

Horrible customer service. My girlfriends and I made appointments the day before for 3 mani/pedis at 4PM. We showed up on time, and nobody said hello or checked in with us. We continued to pick colors until finally someone came over and I told them about our appointments. She didn't ask for a name, or acknowledge that we had made them. At 4:20 they finally sat two of the three of us (which defeats the purpose), but nobody was starting their pedicures so it was pointless. At 4:30 we had had enough and left to get our nails done two doors down at Hollywood star. Why ask people to make appointments if you aren't going to honor them? Even 30 minutes late they weren't ready to accommodate all 3 of us, pretty poor if you ask me. read more

Very clean, everyone was very polite, and the prices were very reasonable. Plenty of color selection. I went with the signature pedicure and it was very relaxing, about 50 mins long. I rarely go out of my way to write a review and even less often will I spend time on a negative one. I have visited D Luxe 5 times with an appointment scheduled and each time over an hour wait to be seated. Yesterday was the day I decided I will not be returning. Nail salons are busy, especially in South Boston. The expectation is that you may experience a wait even with an appointment. I had a 5 pm appointment yesterday, arrived at 4:40. I was not seated until 6 pm, and it took an additional 20 minutes to have a technician start working on my nails. They were giving priority to walk ins who arrived after me, which was adding frustration. I politely pointed this out and I was ignored by one and brushed to the side by another technician. When I was finally assigned a technician, I had my nails soaking with remover under tinfoil for so long the cotton had become in a way glued to my fingers. I was told this is normal, when I know it is not. The technician used her own nails to scrape the cotton off of my fingers, ew! My dip manicure lasted 20 minutes, it was rushed and done carelessly. Sadly this salon has lost my business. ** Edit ** While I stand by my review... It was comforting hearing from the owner, Tiffanie. I appreciate her emotional commitment to the salon. Hopeful logistical hiccups become less frequent and there is a better allocation of the resources in the salon. It is sad long wait times outshined the service in my few trips here. read more

I used to think this place was amazing, but every time I go there, they shortchange me on services and/or upsell and don't deliver. Also, the "dip" is not worth it. I would come here religiously every two weeks for a gel manicure. I loved this place until recently the service and quality of work has gone down hill. I'm not sure if it's the new staff in the establishment but a month ago I went to get a gel manicure and I was not happy how the nail tech made the polish too thick and she did not listen to my concern and said my nails were "bumpy" as this was not the case. She simply did not want to fix my nails and pulled my hands aggressively and continued to paint my nails after I told her I did not like how they looked. Last week, I wanted to give Dluxe a second chance. I got a gel manicure in hopes it would come out the way I wanted it. It was a guy who did my nails and I liked the quality of his work. Made two appointments for today so my friend and I could chat and get our nails done together in advance of my engagement pictures tomorrow.appointment was made for 3pm. They took me at 330 and my friend at 340. They put her in a pedicure chair to give her a manicure and she had to reach across herself with nothing to lean on to get a sloppy manicure I could have done for her. My manicure was nice and actually at the nail bar, however the whole experience was just a sloppy mess and not the fun self-care girls moment I wanted. This is not the first time I've made an appointment and had to wait so long here but it will be my last. Do yourself a favor and go to miniluxe. The cute environment doesn't make up for the incredibly sloppy scheduling and inattention to detail. Listen to the negative reviews about this place before spending your money there. Probably the worst manicure I've ever received. Walked in for a gel removal and regular manicure. The tech was rude from the start and I should have left from there. She was extremely aggressive when taking the gel off and cleaning up my nails in general. I've also never seen someone paint nails so quickly, which probably explains why they look so bad. She smudged my nails twice because she was rushing and then got mad at me as if I did it. I've painted my own nails better than this. If they don't have time to be careful and patient when painting your nails then they should tell you they can't take you. I really want to like this place. I have been a few times and it has been fine but nothing great, but the last 2 times I went ensured I will not be returning. - It is a nice atmosphere, clean high end looking nail bar, so I will give them that. - Also a large selection of colors, especially for gels, another plus. - The service is fine, not overly friendly people. - I went for a gel manicure and the girl was coughing the whole time without wearing a mask, coughing all over my hands and right in my face and it was pretty gross, I actually now have a cough a few days later which I literally think is a direct result of her coughing all over me. - She was pretty rough with my nails, pushing back the cuticles hurt like hell and cutting my cuticles resulted in many cuts and swollen skin around the nails. Even after I pulled my hands back a few times obviously in pain she apologized but continued being rough. - My nails chipped days later (a gel which should be chip free for 2 weeks.) So I went back to get it fixed, which she was definitely annoyed by. - She rushed through fixing 2 nails and did not remotely put any effort into it. They look worse now fixed than they did chipped, she didnt do the same level of coats so it looks like two different colors on my nails, you can see through to the other side of my nail and the color is black... No top coat put on and they just look awful. Bad customer service. Won't be returning. read more

If you're going to be rude to your walk ins, don't "welcome" Walk in's. Not to mention you'll wait at least 20 mins even when you make an appointment. Went in later in the evening with a friend, we called ahead just to make sure and we picked out colors and had pedicure seats waiting right away. Hard to believe we were in a nail salon- beautifully decorated. Sanitizer jackets for the foot tubs which is appreciated. Great music selection playing, but not overwhelming. Honestly the only thing that was a little less than zen was the hand dryer blasting but way less wasteful than paper towels. Will very likely go back again. She told me to hold on and grab a another employee to informed me that were closed and to come back tomorrow instead. I came here a month ago, I wanted to get the second expensive pedicure. I got charge for the most expensive pedicure because my technician decided to perform that on me. I explained to the woman upfront who was taking the payments that I didn't ask for that service. But because it was performed on me I had to pay for it. I guess my technician doesn't understand English well. That shouldn't be an excuse because I pointed at what I wanted on the brochure. That was my third time ever coming there so I didn't know how the procedure to certain pedicures are, nor should that be my job to notice if she added 1 extra thing to my service to charge me more. My toe nails was not straight across like I asked. She tried to fix it too, but still came out round. I said to myself, it's ok ill just fix it when I get home. I'm very easy, but because I'm easy I felt I got taken advantage to have to pay the extra I didn't ask for. Im not coming back. 1 more thing added my sister in-law also came in for an eyebrow wax and gel manicure. She went there often. So even after telling her what happened to me. She still went there because she needed her nails done for a wedding and they never gave her an issue. She liked the place. Which I understand everyone is entitled to there own opinion. She was a bridesmaid, the wedding was in two day's. They butchered her eyebrows. Half of her eyebrow was gone. She was crying, her gel nails were all bubbly. I have been here many times and have been satisfied with my experience. I even got my nails done for my wedding here. However, I just left with one of the worst gel manicures I have ever received. It was done quickly, carelessly, and looks like I could have done a better job myself. I have polish outside of my nails on my fingers. The technician was not wearing gloves like the rest of them and was using her fingernails to scrape extra polish off. There are many different pedicures you can choose from. They have special scrubs and leg masks you can choose from at the front. I got the lavender scent which was amazing. By far the best nail salon in Southie - stopped going to the salon I've been going to for 2+ years to come here. All of the nail techs are great, and they clearly care about the quality of service they are providing. For example, if you are hesitant about how your nails turned out, it's as if they can sense it and will do whatever is needed to make sure you're happy - "satisfaction guaranteed"! The salon is brand new with high quality equipment, and they have a huge selection of gel colors. The interior is beautifully decorated, with a gorgeous nail bar, beautiful big comfy Pedi chairs, with a private pedi room if you want to bring your husband, boyfriend or a bestie. I have gotten my nails done 4 times here. I have made an appointment each time. Making an appointment is not necessary, as I sat getting my nails done my nail tech answered the phone taking appointments she never wrote anyone's name down or their appointment time just hung up. They just deal with who shows up if you have an appointment you just wait until someone is available the same as a walk in. I had a feeling that this was the case because I waited about 30 min each time I had an appointment. Also pack your patience, it takes 2 hours to get a powder dip manicure (at least) it took 2 hours each time I went. It gets 3 stars because they came out nice. I got a gel manicure which came out great but my technician, Annie was very rough and not friendly at all. I got my toes done as well and the paint job is not great. The first time I sat next to my friend as she proceeded to finish her gel manicure before I was even joined by a technician. The whole experience took almost two hours. Save your money. Went here because my usual place was closed. D luxe has a nicer interior than many of the nail places in southie (nicer chairs and a elevated bar for manis vs desks you usually see). I paid $28 for a regular gel manicure and I am very underwhelmed. Not the best mani I've had by a long shot. The tech did a good job but there was no difference than any other regular nail salon. I actual like my nails better when I go to Wendy's of Gaelic (they only did 2 coats at d luxe for a color I frequently get). Don't be fooled by the nicer decor and lemon wedge in the hand soak bowl!! My girl spent the time in between doing my nails texting and calling every 2 minutes. I came into D Luxe Nail Bar on a busy Sunday afternoon. I instantly fell in love with the bright, clean and chic feel of the salon. It is like no other nail salon I've been to as everything feels updated, modern and truly on a deluxe level. I was immediately greeted by the warm and welcoming staff. Got a regular pedicure and gel manicure from Tiffanie. She has an eye for perfection and detail. I showed her a few pictures of the designs and color scheme I wanted and the results were everything I envisioned and more. What I also loved about the salon was the absence of nail polish fumes. Tiffanie explained to me that their facility was state of the art, as each manicure and pedicure station is equipped with its own ventilation system, pumping out all the nasty stuff no one wants to be breathing in. She told me their salon was one of the earliest to implement such air flow systems, ahead of schedule from Boston's soon-to-be mandatory regulation.
