I've been to Gaelic nails a few times and have a have had pretty good experiences overall, but this last time will be the final time I go there. I walked in to get a gel pedicure and I didn't catch the woman's name who did my toes but in the process of trimming my nails she ripped off my baby toe nail. I was in disbelief at first until she was trying to hide it and act like it didn't happen. I've never had a worse pedicure and she didn't even say sorry. Walked in for a take-down service at 3PM on a Saturday. While there were more than 3 people available to do a service and multiple patrons being serviced I was told that "the salon was closed". I stood there waiting for an explanation and was blatantly ignored so I left. This is my go-to nail salon in South Boston. The staff are all pretty talented. Sure, some are quicker than others but all of the nails artwork that I have gone to them for based on Pinterest inspo photos, they have done a great job executing. The price here is great, less than $100 for a dip manicure with design. The pedicure chairs are massagers that you can adjust the settings for! The space is also large, both seating for pedicure and manicure are very comfortable, the place seems really well ventilated, I don't really smell much of the polish when I am in there. I had been getting my dips done at a salon I won't name that absolutely ruined my nails during removal after getting my hands done there about 4x in a row, and my regular pedicure would be chipped within days. So I let that dip set grow fully out for a few months until I had a fully new nail, cut down extremely short. I made an appointment with Dana. She was running late (which is noted in a few of the reviews here), but the salon called and asked me if I could come in 30 minutes later. I had left ~30 minutes of extra time in case they were running late like people had mentioned, and it was perfect! When I showed up, my nails that were literally at the finger line (sooooooooo short- ugh) and I got tips, dip, and a regular pedicure. I requested Dana because I had gotten a few recommendations for her. And oh my god, she was AMAZING. My tips are perfect, the shape is gorgeous and exactly what I asked for, the dip isn't uneven or anything (my standards are pretty low given that I was paying ~$55 at the last place). My total was $95 for a tips, dip, and a mani with regular pedi. It was such an enjoyable experience and Dana seriously knocked it out of the park!!! Also, it has been 11 days and my nails still look PERFECT. I have a tiny chip in one toenail but I run a lot and it tends to happen - I think I got it after about 5 days. SOOOO HIGHLY recommend. Had a really great experience coming here. My sister was given a giftcard from her friend so we decided to try it out. It's very big inside, and also clean. Loan did an amazing job on my nails, I'm glad we were able to try it out. The only thing I will note that is not a huge deal is that their playlist seems to contain only a few songs. I went to go get my nails and toes done here and my nail shape / color didn't match the inspiration I showed the technician. During getting my nails done by her she cut me so badly with the machine to buff my nails and on top of that "didn't have time" to fix them to my liking. The receptiontist told me I'd have to come back the next day, pay to get them removed to change the color which was $75 and pay again to get them back on (another $65). She also charged me full price. After sitting there for the time they advised to have my toenails dried I came home and both smudged. I called the Deluxe Bar next door and they told me they can simply do a color change and not remove the full set. So she lied on top of leaving me unhappy and charging me full price. During my pedicure the "cheese grater" (what I like to call it) was brought out and used with no regard. the balls of my feet and heel were literally grated raw to the point where it started bleeding. to make matters worse after shaving my feet raw she took all of the shavings that were left on the towel and threw it back into the water while my feet were soaking. I had been going here religiously for 2 years. I will never set foot in this establishment again. They increased their prices so high, with nothing in return. I usually get gel mani but was suggested to try the dip since my last gel only lasted 8 days. Throughout the process I asked a couple of questions but was told it would look good, it does NOT. It looks incredibly fake. It is so thick, I might as well be wearing acrylic nails. I am in a wedding and needed to have my nails done. And on top of it, they don't do a manicure when you do a dip nail- just the nails. And they now charge $40 for it and an additional $5 to have it taken off. When I asked to have to taken off and redone with gel- she said I would need to pay for all of it. I told the owner I wouldn't be back and she said I could do what I wanted sorry. And I had been growing my nails, they cut them short and are all different length. I'm not one to write reviews but what happened today is insanity. Typically I have a 5 star experience at Gaelic nails. I've been seeing Van for over a year now and she does exceptional work. Today on my work break, I went to get my regular once or twice a month dip manicure. Another customer who I've never seen before came into the store very loud and obnoxious, and seemingly on drugs. The receptionist agreed with me at the front desk but we proceeded with getting me checked in and brushed it off. Then about half way through my appointment, the woman started questioning the nail tech about how long she's been doing nails for and started yelling at her about cutting her fake nails too short. It went on and on and the receptionist went over to help calm the situation down. The whole store was watching and nothing pisses me off more than seeing a customer treat an employee with such utter and blatant disrespect. I looked over and said "you could be nice about it" and from then on it was complete and utter chaos. The woman was screaming at me telling me I was a b*tch, that I'm not from south Boston and how she will get everyone she knows here after me, and proceeded to get out of her chair leaning towards me yelling that she would wait outside the salon for me and smash my head into the f'ing ground and I would never walk again. I started visibly crying and shaking, which then she proceeded to call me a "retarded cry baby" in front of the entire salon. About 10-15 other customers were sitting there in shock. I told the manager to call the police. I was shaking and the nail ladies were basically holding this woman back from coming at me and telling her to sit down in her chair. I cannot even count the amount of threats, profanity, and horrible things she said. Then the manager told me that the owner told her not to call the police (why?) I don't know. So I went to the bathroom, locked the door, and called the police. Other girls in the salon came to the bathroom to make sure I was okay and offered me rides home, to walk me home, etc. They were scared too. During this time, they were continuing to do the crazy woman's nails. The police came, walked her out, and got a statement from me. The crazy woman's nail tech came over and thanked me for sticking up for her and gave me a hug. And then my boyfriend picked me up. A random girl at the salon paid for my nails when she checked out because she felt so bad. (If you see this thank you SO much the world deserves more people like you, and to be honest it should've been the salon offering to cover the cost) This happened at 2pm today and it's now 830pm and I'm still in shock. I am shocked how the salon staff handled the situation. People had to listen to this woman yelling and screaming profanities for a half hour in a nail salon and threatening other customers. I am APPALLED they did not call the police sooner or ask this woman to leave sooner. I feel like this could be a made up story and review based on how ridiculous it is- but it's not. I thought I finally found a good nail salon. When I went to soak off my acrylic nails at home they did not come off. I've soaked off my acrylic nails at home plenty of times and it did not look like how it should look while soaking off. This salon clearly uses illegal monomer. They are very nice here but I would not do the dip-powder manicures at this salon. I had them for less than a week when they cracked and then 1 broke. I went in and they fixed them for me free (basically giving me a whole new manicure). They started to crackle again by the end of the weei, and one week and a day later I have 2 messed up nails. Won't go anywhere else in southie! They aren't stingy on the pedicures/take their time. They even used hot tar following the massage, which felt great! I also got a full set, which the manicurist, Jolie, was able to assist me in finding a suitable shape and size (as I am generally indecisive with that part). There is plenty of staff to go around. They have a good waiting list system, where you come in, write your name down and wait to be called upon a seat opening up. The staff is very friendly and most speak very clear English. Prices aren't bad either! $57 total for a full set & pedi AND she took VENMO for tip! This was a huge plus for myself and the girl my age whom was sitting next to me. It is important to stay creative with a generation like this and having to run to an ATM because the salon doesn't take tips over credit card is never fun! The new crew of people that work here are not good. It is now over priced and under serviced. I got a regular manicure and the girl only did one coat of color. Every place I have ever been has always done two coats. I chose a light pink opaque color. Usually when I pick this color most nail salons will even ask if I want a 3rd coat. The one coat was sad and not even. I had to ask for a second coat but by then she had already put on a top coat. I waited a while for the technician to come back and do a second coat. Finally I started to just paint my own nails there and that is when someone else offered to help. The first technician also cut me and I started to bleed a little. I would not recommend coming here anymore. $17 plus tip for 3 minutes of nail painting. I might as well have done it myself which I pretty much did at the salon. I was there at 2pm on a weekday. It was busy but not packed there. This was not a rushed job because of time. It was lack of care. I think the salon as gotten too comfortable because the other nail salons on the street has closed. They think they can over charge and people will just take it. There is a new nail salon opening on west broadway. Looking forward to it. read more

I recently had dip done on my nails before a trip. The nail tech warned me that if they start to chip that I can come back because they should last me awhile. After only 3-4 days, many of my nails had chipped and the top coat of the dip appeared broken and streaky I went back in as she'd suggested and they gave me a hard time. They asked me to look up my name in the sign in sheet, so ontop of going all the way back there to fix my nails after only 3 days, I spent 10 minutes flipping through the long list of customers names until I was able to find mine She took off the top coat, as the dip powder was still fresh and looked fine, and repainted over them again. After another 4 days, the same issue happened. I won't be coming back and spending the extra money on dip only for it to shatter and look worse than any gel mani I've ever had read more

I legit read someone complaining about how their manicure didn't last 2 weeks... im rolling my eyes..... that's normal.... people cry to much and want the world for crumbs... that's why people get gel... or something more long lasting. I came last minute and they took me right away and didn't rush. The lady that did my nails did not speak to me much but that doesn't bother me.. I like being left alone while I'm at the salon. I chose a color I never tried before and was hesitant. The color didn't look good on my feet but I already committed and didn't want to be an annoying customer but my face can't hide my feelings and the lady knew I didn't love my color. To be nice she kept asking if I was sure i wanted to use the same color or different color? At the end I stuck with my choice and it came out actually a lot better looking than I imagined. And both the 2 nail techs and the customer sitting next to me getting her nails done kept complimenting my hands and nails.
