My son and his family (including 2 young children) just moved to Idaho Falls so they took us to this restaurant as a special celebration. I'm glad they did. As any good quality steak restaurant, the menu is à la carte. The starter and salad prices are pretty normal. The entrée prices seem higher than you might be used to but not when you consider the meat quality. The beef is either Australian or Japanese Wagyu. I didn't see any standard rated (choice, prime, etc) meat on the menu. The children both wanted mac & cheese with hot dogs. They were served first, about 20-25 minutes before the adults were served. I deeply appreciated this because the kids were anxious and hungry. I loved that they recognized the needs of the children and knew it would be difficult for them to wait. I ordered the Australian Filet Mignon (medium rare) and a side of sautéed mushrooms. My wife ordered the same cut but with the Brussels sprouts. I am not exaggerating when I say we both thought the meat was the best we've ever had. Filet Mignon is our favorite cut and we have had it many places, including some of the most recognized restaurants. This put them all to shame. The meat was cooked perfectly and almost literally melted in our mouths. It was super tender and light. I ate the whole piece and did not feel like I had a gut bomb. Simply amazing. The sides were also delicious and complemented the meat very well. I read a number of reviews of this restaurant. It seems some reviewers are unhappy about the service but if I'm going to spend a chunk of money on a dinner, I want it to last for awhile. I don't want to be rushed. If you go here, plan on taking the time to enjoy the experience. We had the opportunity to meet the owner, Jay. He has quite the story to tell and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him a bit. The level of attention our waitress provided was on point, and she was really helpful answering our menu inquiries. She was the best. Every single item we ordered was absolutely AMAZING! We started with the seared ahi tuna appetizer. It was just delicious. After that we had some side dishes. Our favorite was the Mac & cheese. Hands down, one of the best we have ever had. For the main dish we went with the Japanese A5 Wagyu trio. It was FANTASTIC! The steaks were seasoned and cooked to perfection. They were so good! Wow, where has this place been -definitely off my radar. Part of me is like "don't say anything " you'll never get in again. This place is awesome! Plain and simple. I travel so often for work and try and find local steakhouses everywhere I go, this place surpassed every expectation. When I drove up I was a little nervous as it is very inconspicuous from the outside, you then walk in and are greeted with a very nice restaurant, perfectly suited for date nights, special events, or just good food with friends. Upon opening the menu there may be some shock at the cost as it is in the pricey side, however it is worth every penny, my steak was perfectly cooked and the sides albeit al a carte meld perfectly with the entree. Tough decision to now grade this as 3*. Our reservation was ready in their remodeled interior and the service throughout was great and attentive. The Handcraft Malbec was a little overpriced given that it can be purchased for $9 or less, retail. Cost was $28. The bacon wrapped shrimp was delicious. 5 colossal shrimp and a nice sauce to top it with. Spouse's lobster was as expected which we came for. She enjoyed it especially given that it was a live, and not frozen tail. Her house salad was huge with eggs and lots of other toppings. My meal? 10 oz. strip steak for $34 and a large $5 baked potato. I asked for a medium rare steak, but it came with little to no pink which to me means it was overcooked. I hope I am the exception to the normal cooking process. Our anniversary dinner started out pretty dismally at another restaurant in town that couldn't be bothered to get us a table, and the host staff and bartenders were rude and condescending. (Looking at you Smokin Fins! We walked away from there after 15 minutes of being ignored at the bar.) We called D'Railed, explained we were celebrating our anniversary and did they have anything we could book immediately, and they said they could get us a table reservation immediately. We arrived within 5 minutes of the call, to the restaurant which itself was hidden on a little back street across from the railroad tracks, down from the Museum of Idaho. Didn't look like much, but we had heard good things and was hopeful. The server we spoke with on the phone got us seated on the patio, which we were not sure about at first because we sat at a patio table and chairs that we could have had in our own backyard. Besides the unusual ambiance, we were hopeful that the evening would be looking up. Unfortunately we sat for almost 45 minutes after being seated on the patio without so much as a glass of water, and the waitstaff was waiting on other customers that we were seated after us, and they avoided making eye contact with us. I was pretty ticked by that point and set a timer for 3 minutes on my phone, with full intentions to get up and leave if the timer went off without being acknowledged, and go get tacos at a hole in the wall place, when my husband finally flagged down a server and asked if we were ever going to get someone to wait on us. The server was super busy, but she got right on it and brought us our drinks and got our order. I asked if there was any way to have shrimp omitted from a Chicken and Shrimp item (due to my shellfish allergy), but was told that they were too busy to accommodate special orders. (Understandable, but I wanted to ask as the description made it sound delicious.) We ended up ordering the Australian Wagyu Beef Filets ($55 each), baked potato, a fancy potato dish, and Brussels sprouts. (Everything comes a la' carte, which was $$$.) We waited another 45 minutes for our meal to be prepared, but when served, were cooked to perfection and very good. The potatoes and side dishes were kind of meh, but the steaks were great. Overall, while the steaks were very good, and the server tried really hard to make up for the poor incoming service we experienced, we would likely not return because of the expense of the a la' carte menu items, and not having enough variety. I gave 4 stars for the food we did have and the service, but that rating is not reflective of the price as we could have had a full service menu at other high end restaurants for half of what we spent for two people. If you have a special occasion and money is no object, and have lots of time to burn, then I would recommend going to have a delicious, but overpriced steak there. read more

Just had Valentines Day dinner here for 2, for $219. The lobster was undercooked, and the steak was thin. The real kick in the gut though, was the 6% service charge tacked onto the bill without notice, AND another 22% service charge/auto gratuity below that, which ALSO wasn't noted on the menu. Ever wanting to go big, the owners then gave us a final bill to sign, with a THIRD option to tip! This would be on top of the 6%, the 22%, and the tax. Suggested amounts started at ANOTHER 20% and went up from there! This is infuriating and outrageous, and has no place in Idaho Falls. read more

I am a meat guy and what I mean, is I geek out on youtube videos following other meat guys. Hence, one of my bucket lists foods to try was a Japanese A5 rated wagyu. Recently on a short vacation to Idaho Falls, I stumbled upon a restaurant that served wagyu. D' Railed. The fine dining atmosphere in an old home was a special touch. The wait staff were fantastic. I went ahead and ordered another cut of meat- picanha(Australian wagyu) and it was delicious par none. Although I wanted to order the A5 wagyu, I hesitated and of course was not disappointed with my choice of meat. When we met the chef, we shared our story and he gave the best gift ever. A sample of the melting like butter in your mouth a true Japanese wagyu. It was unbelievable and unforgettable.  My wife ordered the cotton candy brisket fettuccine and raved over eating the best pasta she had ever had and that was before taking a bite of the delectable wagyu brisket. This restaurant would stand out in any metro in the country. The service is perfection, with the waitstaff always available but not bothersome. My wife and I had the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer which was amazing with hint of smoke throughout each shrimp. For our main course, my wife ordered the seabass and I ordered the ribeye. For sides we had potatoes (we were in Idaho) and the brussel sprouts and both were top-notch. Our mains were cooked perfectly with the fish served without a hint of "fishy" smell which tells you the freshness. My steak was perfectly prepared with a flavor that makes me sad to grill one of my own. Overall, the service, atmosphere, food presentation and flavor makes D'Railed the finest meal I have ever had. A strange place; a lot of promise but lacking a bit in sophistication. The menu is strange, there are a lot of staples but they have tiny bits of Wagyu for lots of $$. I ordered the lamb lollipops, which were terrific. There are 4 bites and it's $16 so that's $4 per bite, but those were definitely worth the $4. Just delicious. I also had a Caesar salad, which was about average. It wasn't bad but a good Caesar tastes like anchovies and most of them don't. I like extra anchovies on mine, especially if they are good anchovies. I had the lobster and crab bisque, which had a very nice lump of crabmeat. But it had too much cream and not enough shellfish flavor in the soup itself and was under seasoned. I think the thing that is the strangest is that they serve a 3 oz. Wagyu steak for $55 and 6 oz. for $105 but they use cafeteria quality flatware and serve their drinks in mason jars. Sort of like seeing an opera in a cattle pasture. Be aware too that if you eat outside at dinner time there will be wasps, and I don't mean Trump supporters. Luckily I had two citronella wristbands in my car and put them next to my plate. First the good. The service and atmosphere was top notch. Everyone was welcoming, friendly and attentive. However the food left much to be desired. That lamb lollipops taste like pure charcoal. The Mac n cheese was bland and the potatoes Romanoff is something anyone could make at home. For the price of everything you would think it would be the best meal you had ever had. One plus was the wagyu steak but given the quality of meat it would be exceedingly hard to mess that one up. TL;DR - do not book this place for large dinner parties, the the staff will not seat you. You will have to find somewhere else to eat or go home hungry. I am not one to leave reviews, and I know this is late, but this service was so bad that I can't help but warn other diners. We set a reservation in December for a party of 10-13 at 7:30pm to celebrate my brother's graduation. For context, half of the party was elderly people (not smart timing, I know, it's all there was available). We show up 15 mins before our time and let the hostess know we are all at the restaurant, and she tells us they should have our table ready at 7:30, our reserved time. 7:45 rolls around and my brother goes in to ask what time we can expect to be seated, the hostess then says that they are waiting for some guests to leave and she will text us when the table is ready. 8:30 rolls around and no text (keep in mind the restaurant closes at 9pm). I walk inside to ask how much longer we can expect to wait. The restaurant is seemingly empty with only one larger table occupied by guests. I ask the waitress how long we can expect to wait and she is immediately defensive. She claims that she is still waiting for the guests to leave so we can be seated. Apparently there is only enough room inside for one large group. The waitress asks me if I expect her to ask the other guests to leave. I have to tell her that yes, I actually do expect her to do that considering that we have been waiting an hour past our reservation time in 15 degree weather with elderly people. I tell her it's not unreasonable for guests to be asked to leave if you let them know others have been waiting for their table for an hour. She looks at me like I'm an idiot. We leave to find a restaurant that can actually feed us 1 hour before it closes. Long story short, apparently these people don't value anyone's time. I would give a zero star review if I could. The owner needs to speak with their staff about how to handle reservations, set appropriate expectations for guests, and nicely ask paying customers to vacate a table after they have finished eating. Unfathomable that Idaho Falls has an eatery of this caliber... I have traveled the world and I can honestly say I have not had a finer meal anywhere. The wine list is very nice, the stuffed mushroom appetizer was delish, the lobster stuffed avocado Louie was incredibly fresh, my potato dish was excellent, and I have not yet recovered from the Australian Wagyu filet I had. It was cooked to absolute perfection and cutting it was like using a scalpel on custard. I had no idea every fine filet I've ever eaten before this was actually shoe leather. I'll never be the same. Our server did a good job, but nothing exceptional like you'd expect given the prices. Food was well-prepared, but again, very pricey for what you get. I would expect these prices in New York, Vegas and the like, but not here. If you make reservations, I'd recommend asking to NOT be seated in the back room as the only table there is right next to the bathrooms. I would have given a 3.5 not a 3. 4 feels too high at this price point for what I received. 1st off, the ambiance is a true 5! If I only went to sit at the table, watch the fire pits burn and drank it would be OUT OF THIS WORLD. I would take a date here in a heart beat, just get ready to open your pockets. I ordered Tito's martini - they were excellent. But then I get the bill to see they are "premium" martinis. I'm sorry, Tito's isn't premium. Anything sold in a handle (at $30 a pop) isn't premium. That's Grey goose, Chopin and Belvedere. Outside of a New York or london bar I have never even seen a $17 martini!!! This is quaint and charming Idaho falls, let's be real not offensive. I was told when I sat down they're known most for their streaks. I ordered the rib eye medium rare and it was clearly medium. Waitress says they temp them but this was one of the thinnest $38 rib eyes I've ever seen so yes it's a difficult medium rare. Chef should have chosen different cut for this temp. Sides (addl cost) are excellent! I was sticker shocked to see $17 martinis for Tito's but hopefully this just gives someone heads up for future! Difficult to get a table due to the size of the business. Reservations are a must. Should have three dollar signs on the listing as a dinner for two was almost $300 after adding a tip. The cauliflower wings were amazing, berry salad was great, and sauce on the fettuccini delicious. The Caesar salad was drenched in too much dressing and the croutons were mushy. The steak my husband ordered, while good, was barely seared and not the medium rare that he ordered. My pasta came with steak as well and the meat was chewy and gross. Wandering through the West and came across this gem. Everything is fresh and made to order. Fresh wild caught fish. Amazing wagu menu items. Service was great and the chef/owner takes great pride in his wonderful food. My wife eats gluten free and the menu is 95% gluten-free. He has a wonderful gluten free breading recipe that took him over 5 years to get just right. It is just perfect. Healthy fresh and amazing! We will be back every time we are in Idaho Falls. Food was delicious with very generous portion sizes. My only complaint was the sauce on the shrimp scampi was a bit lack luster in the flavor department.
