    Dried out halibut
    John C.

First of all there's a really cool patio. Service is exceptional! Food quality not so much!! I ordered the surf and turf only to get very dry halibut and a sirloin steak that had so much gristle it was hard to cut. It was cooked to the perfect temperature but that doesn't account for much if you have to feed it to your dog. I might come back again but I'd be leary of the options.

I'm usually a bit leery when the server touts a certain item, but here Dustin recommended the first item on the seafood menu, not a daily special. The macadamia crusted halibut was a winner, I opted for an only-broccoli side. Very good all around. Halibut isn't the flakiest of fish, but it wasn't too dense here. One miss were the complimentary low-end rolls. Conversely, another positive was the house coconut Mojito. Stray from your hotel restaurant and dine here, especially the outside seating when weather appropriate.

Service, service, service this is obviously what makes this place so busy! Don't get me wrong the food was fantastic but these guys operate on a different level. These folks crank out large table like it is nothing-tonight we were 9 and there was also a10 , a 12 several 6-8 tops and a group of 32. Drinks came out on the steady and all the food served hot and as a complete table, no one waited!

Food was excellent. Probably the best calamari I've ever had, followed by Hawaiian crusted halibut (excellent), we also had Oscar Chicken that was prepared perfectly. I had ordered steamed vegetables that I didn't care for, they were removed from the check without asking. Service was professional, our server was great, table touched properly by management. And it has an appropriate nautical/fishing theme. I would highly recommend this restaurant . Bathroom could have used some love

Steak and Macadamia Nut Crusted Halibut

I was hungry and tired after my last day of adventures in Idaho falls. I had seen this restraunt across the parking lot from my hotel, and when walking the trail system. This evening, the incredible aroma of steak brought me in. I was seated at a table in the busy bar area, they also have a dinning room. I had a great view of river and trails from my table. The server let me know that they are known for their steak and seafood but they also have burgers etc. I ordered the steak and halibut combo, gotta have what they are known for right? Wish I had just gone for the halibut on its own. The steak was good, but the halibut was incredible and I wanted more! The macadamia nut crust was perfect with this fish, and the yummy creamy sauce. You gotta have yummy sauce with fish, in my opion, and this was really good! Finished with the mixed berry cobbler with ice cream, so goood! I tried unsuccessfully to make the halibut when I got home. Total fail, I guess I'll just have to go back to Idaho falls and Sandpiper Restraunt.

Still one of my favorites. We made a reservation so we did not have to wait. Service is very good. We had drinks followed by dinner. My steak was cooked just like I like it. Everything is separate so you select your main and then add on salad, soup, veggies, or baked potatoes. This is a very large place with both inside and outside seating. Service is great as is the food. We will be going back.

New Year's Eve dinner early at 4:30 pm, ordered apple martini , got a lemon drop , zero alcohol decided to try another same thing, just horrible crushed ice floating on top of glass no cherry , then decided to try a White Russian , same thing zero alcohol , tried another because my chicken Oscar was soooo dry , same thing zero alcohol asks for top shelf and get the same exact thing , finally gave up and got a baked sweet potato , I got a crunchy mini potato and they stated they were out, mind you the crowd is now huge at the front door so I guess in Idaho on New Year's Eve you get no baked potaroe or whatever, my wife ordered the prime rib, all fat took it back and got filet and sweet potato which turned out awesome. 1 point for that , overall horrible experience , my company comes here a lot, I'll make sure and mention our dinner next week back to work . So clue for management put your best bartender and chef do news years eve.

The food was absolutely amazing!! The atmosphere of the restaurant being next to the lake was really calm. We really enjoyed this restaurant. To top it off the service was excellent.

Original: My review for this place is not current. I had a…read morepretty bad experience here a few years back so we will never go again. WHAT HAPPENED: When they're busy, they don't have enough servers on. This was something we had already been warned about, and got to witness first hand. Also, without informing us, they charge for soda refills! Seems the server was padding the check, thanks to two teenagers with us, and they drink soda. I had a couple of beers that I expected to be charged for, but my other half's coffee refills?, mann come-on. The place is overly priced to begin with, the food was not fantastic. They were riding on their legacy name. Surviving by tourist seasons of the unsuspecting. I gave it two stars because the food wasn't bad. I can say that the experience was not worth the bill. I did see the prices before we ordered and did not hesitate. However, those prices raised my expectations. To top it all, the atmosphere is dark and cramped. Never again! It might seem petty to not give a second chance if you think that only the bill is the reason. The lack of transparency, price to quality, and shoddy service combined. I think there are equally if not better restaurants in Idaho Falls. It's not worth the price here. UPDATE: with a vengeance! Mitch and Justin at The SnakeBite showed me just how much things can change under new management/ownership. My first review stated that it was a couple of years ago, lol Mitch helped me sort out the timeline, and it was actually close to 6 years ago. Guess I'm a little out of the loop, because I was informed that 100Proof Hospitality bought the restaurant about 4 years ago, long after I had sworn the place off forever. I know some might not appreciate an old experience popping up like brand new in a review. I get that in hindsight, but these new owners didn't flinch, and they are savvy--I tell you that. They turned someone (me) who would've never returned, into their regular customer. To start, the two teens have grown, it was only the two of us, which didn't matter because they no longer charge for refills under the new ownership. We were hosted by..well, a young man who was a little less than personable. He wasn't bad, typical in fact, but after experiencing the management and our server--the rest of the team outshines him a bit. It was late lunch, so they were still busy, but had enough open seating for the two of us. Laney--our server, is the coolest lady to ever walk the planet. She was hustling, laughing, smiling and talking with everybody. Just magnificent ambiance. She handled my undecidedness in style, answering every single one of my questions with complete honesty. "So if I put pepperjack on this, will it ruin the flavor of the cheese sauce." Direct eye contact, slowly nodding with a cringing look, "yeahhh probably." Great pallet to boot cuz she was so right. The Blue SnakeBite Burger--mann that sauce!, is what "zesty blue" is all about! I also got a Stuffed Mushrooms appetizer. I hope I remember this exactly, but it's basically a spinach and artichoke dippy sauce stuffed inside of two very large portobello crowns, a fantastic drizzle and roasted red peppers on top! I would eat those every meal for the rest of my life! My other half got the Haddock with Waffle Fries, added Coconut Shrimp and Salad. She was too busy eating to tell me what she thought lol--loved it all. We sat, had met the dazzling Laney( who can bring people back all herself) ordered, and--get this--I ordered through Laney, a beer from the bar. The bar shortly later poured the wrong beer (think person ordered wrong), which was the same draft that I ordered. So over to our table comes the smiling and booming bartender with the beer out stretched to me, "You want a free beer"--well, yeah. The kicker: Nobody knew yet, including management, we were the "2nd look" couple. SnakeBite and 100Proof Hospitality, unknowingly pulled off a mic drop. Prices slightly higher than chains, and worth every cent! We will be back. So should you!

If I was fishing all day on the Snake River, this place would absolutely HIT! (....do I fish? No…read more But I imagine if I did, SnakeBite would be peak post fishing day food!) if you're a fried pickle fan, you have to order these! I'm pretty sure they lightly sprinkled some ranch seasoning on them and now I'm refusing to eat them any other way! The other highlight was the skillet cookie, which we downed like a pack of hungry wolves! Warm, gooey and yet crispy with creamy vanilla ice cream! chefs kiss

It's the perfect spot for hearty, traditional Midwestern comfort food. After all, how can you visit Potato Country without enjoying at least one perfectly baked potato? A little fun (and mostly useless) fact: Potatoes are typically harvested once a year in the fall and stored in underground bunkers. The ones you usually buy in stores are often nearly a year old. And if a potato starts to sprout? It simply becomes part of the next season's crop. The moment you walk in, it feels like stepping into a time machine. The interior is warm and cozy, with darker tones, rich red accents, wood-paneled walls, and glass partitions. There's even a mud room and a coat rack ready for those chilly Idaho winter nights. We were greeted and seated almost immediately. Our server introduced herself right away and took our drink orders with a smile. I went with the Ultimate Philly--tender, well-done strips of their famous prime rib, grilled onions and peppers, all smothered in a rich cheese sauce. It came with a side of au jus for dipping and your choice of side. I couldn't resist ordering the Jaker's Baker, a massive Idaho potato loaded with all the toppings. The prime rib was flavorful and juicy, and the baked potato was hearty and satisfying--the ultimate classic meat-and-potatoes meal.
