I have never had Venezuelan food Each bite has great taste and all the ingredients just went well together Cannot explain the taste The service was the friendliest that I have ever experienced The ambiance was the only reason they did not get 5 stars I would go back

I will definitely be back to visit this sweet lady who owns the place. She takes so much pride in the food and service, you can tell everything was prepared with love. The place is simple yet beautifully decorated. Everyone is greeted and taken care of. I will for sure be back.

Great food. Great owner. Great atmosphere. Great prices. Great location in downtown Montgomery.

    So good

Fantastic food, great music and an atmosphere that is very welcoming. Absolutely loved the Venezuelan owner / host , she was such a joy. Hope to return soon and see her smiling face again and enjoy more of her cooking.

Sunrise Arepa - messy, but TASTY!!!
    Ryan A.

Came in on a Saturday, sat immediately and helped by who I assume is part of the family for this quaint spot. She recommended the Sunrise Arepa, and I'm glad she did! Not something I would normally order, but tons of flavor! Only four stars because I wish they had a full bar or at least some mimosas... I didn't see anything in the menu.

Pleasantly surprised with how satisfied the whole family was by the time we left D' Road. My vegetarian family is new to the area, and we hadn't found any good vegetarian friendly restaurants. But I saw a review that said D' Road could accommodate vegan/vegetarian/gluten free, so we stopped in for lunch. We were greeted immediately and small starter salad was brought out as soon as we walked in. Beverages - tea, water, and coffee - were available as self serve. No menu for lunch, just a hot bar served cafeteria style. There were three types of meat to choose from, rice, beans, veggies, cabbage, and plantains. We told them we were vegetarian, so we got all of the non-meat options with an extra large scoop of beans. We were told that all of the food was fresh, organic, and made from scratch daily. It definitely tasted like it. Everything was super flavorful! My 12 month old loved the beans, and my 3.5 year old loved the beans, rice, and broccoli. They also brought out some kind of homemade hot sauce that was a jar of marinated veggies in a liquid. I drizzled a little of the liquid over my cabbage and veggies, and it was the perfect addition. Def had a kick to it. My personal favorite thing on the plate was the plantains. They have a full menu of breakfast items, and it does mention vegan/vegetarian options are available. So I'm already looking for an excuse to go again.

Some of the best cheese empanadas I've ever had, very good would recommend for a casual experience in the downtown area if you like Latin foods.

If you're looking for a place that feels like a warm, home-cooked meal straight from your grandma's kitchen, this is it! The food was comforting, flavorful, and made with such care. Every dish was delicious, from the perfectly seasoned meats to the hearty sides. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with a charming, homestyle vibe that made the whole experience feel extra special. The only downside is that the prices are a bit on the higher side, but for the quality and nostalgic comfort, I'll be back for sure! Also the toilet is prison style so plan to not use a restroom while you are here.

Breakfast HAM EGGS & CHEESE SANDWICH

My normal downtown breakfast spot changed their hours so my coworker and I landed here... instant convert! I wasn't sure what to expect of this place but an extremely fresh Latin breakfast was not one of them. This was one of those places where it was hard to choose what I wanted. I went with their version of a breakfast sandwich. It come in a cornbread wrap and the green sauce is so amazing I wish they bottled it. I'm not sure I've ever had FRESH pineapple juice but I'm never going back. The coffee was also strong and fantastic. I'm dying to try the rest of the menu. The staff was very sweet and kind, always checking in. Prices were super reasonable considering the portion size.

Excellent lunch stop while visiting Montgomery. The food is a very select limited daily menu, $19.00 one awesome plate pre-made ready to go. Excellent for a quick lunch, the service was amazing, with a fun ambiance in downtown Montgomery. There is a reason this place has almost a perfect 5 Stars!

Lunch bar...brisket, pork loin, chicken, rice, mixed veggies, spinach and plantains.

They were using staff from upstairs at the bar and the night just was not great at all. Unfortunately, it did not impress the guests that were from out of town as well. I will say the interior design is very nice but for such a new restaurant I was very surprised at the experience. I think this restaurant may be going through a lot of launch and staffing challenges.

While here I tried the shrimp and grits, 3 meat omelet, and the chicken and waffle sliders. Hands down the shrimp and grits may be the best I've ever had. I appreciated that the sauce was not oily and they give a good amount of shrimp and conecuh sausage (this specific sausage is the key) for the amount of grits they give you. This may be the best shrimp and grits I've ever had so if you don't know what to order, you can't go wrong with this choice. The 3 meat omelet was bomb as well with plenty of meat inside the omelet with a choice of side. Lastly, the chicken and waffle sliders were also really good. The chicken is crispy and the hot honey sauce it comes with naturally motivates you to dip the chicken into the syrup (thank me later if this didn't cross your mind until now). I can't forget the sweet tea is very sweet and when you ask for a side of lemons, they actually cut a lemon up for you which I appreciate from a sanitary standpoint. In case you were also wondering, they offer military discounts and they will sing happy birthday if you ask (no free dessert but they do have some really good beignets to purchase). The beignets are really soft and go great with the ganauche. The only downside for this restaurant is the service is a bit slow. Both days it took quite a bit of time to be greeted by a server and sometimes they take a while to come by your table. This is a minor fix but if this can be rectified this is easily a 5 star brunch place that the city needed. I recommend this restaurant to anyone considering coming to it and I look forward to coming back to eat here (my mom still talks about the shrimp and grits lol).

The latter, a horrible disease brought on by lack of protein, ran rampant among African Americans whose diets lacked it. In the 1920s, canned salmon could be had for pennies. Add an egg and you'd have enough protein to stave off the disease for a week. The inventive cooks in the Black community found ways to make it delicious, by adding chopped onion and binding it with the salmon liquor from the can and breadcrumbs. Like so many Southern dishes that arose from need, the salmon croquette has kept the spot it earned on the soul food roster. The salmon patty was a reputed favorite of author William Faulkner who was said to enjoy them quite a lot with liquor. (Or with quite a lot of liquor, I'm unsure which.) An excellent salmon patty can be had at Greg's Breakfast Bar. According to the sign on the front door, it's the best in Alabama, and I'll not dispute it. It's what I ordered on this most recent visit and although I've not personally sampled its rivals, it would be hard to imagine a better one. When I was a kid, my own mother--who grew up during the Depression--made them every Tuesday. (Greg's may be better. Sorry, Mom.) There's no liquor served at Greg's, so I had to eat my salmon croquette with coffee. For $10 at Greg's, you too can sample the best salmon croquette in Alabama. Other local faves like Conecuh sausage line the GBB menu. Eggs and grits accompany the breakfast plates, which make up the left half of the menu. Breakfast sandwiches occupy the other half. Greg's is open early (5:30 a.m. if memory serves), and stays open until lunchtime. When my travels take me through Montgomery--as they did last week on a drive from Pensacola to Atlanta--Greg's is a quick detour off of 65 or 85. I timed my drive accordingly. The interior is classic diner, vinyl and stainless . SEC memorabilia and signed player photos decorate the place. Everybody seems to know Greg. The crowd is local. Parking limited.
