I finally had the opportunity to check off a place off my restaurant bucket list. I made my reservation for a late dinner on Opentable. When I arrived at the restaurant the outdoor dining was setup across the street from the restaurant there were two tables designed for two people and the remaining two tables are designed to seat up to 4 people. When I arrived, I had my water but they ran out of individually wrapped straws. The complementary roll cut in half was cold and hard so it was not consumed. I ordered the frito misto (fried calamari, fried shrimp and fried fish) and mango cheesecake. My server was knowledgeable, pleasant and accommodating. The frito misto ($23) was delicious, the appetizer was meant for sharing but definitely a great meal for one. After finishing my dish, the server returned to clean the table, which was amazing especially during these times. The mango cheesecake ($12) was the perfect portion and a great ending to my meal experience. I will definitely return to this restaurant to try their paninis, which I heard was huge. read more

I came here with my son and husband. This place was recommended everywhere so I thought we would give it a try. I was thoroughly unimpressed. The restaurant was very empty. There were a few tables filled with what I can only imagine were regulars because of the attention they were given. Our service was the bare minimum - waitress who was also the hostess ( wearing a mask for covid) stopped by maybe 3 times. We had a reservation but there was no acknowledgment of it. The food was ok. The cocktail list was not interesting so I ordered the limited wine per glass for $ 20 a glass. To be clear price is not my concern. the entire vibe was just wrong and i wanted out of there asap. Pop art on the walls with low lighting . Our seat was smack in the middle of the room with another table 2 inches from us. The food will not bring me back. The portion sizes were a little small for the price point and the drinks weren't bad! Everyone voted that the best dish on the table was the lasagna! This also surprised us but each one of us was saving our last bites for the lasagna. The layers of pasta paired with the cheeses were DELICIOUS -- absolute recommend every time you go!! The second best was the Brussel Sprouts that were cooked in the fat of the pancetta, which was deliciouuuss. Would also recommend this dish! The seafood medley was also great -- the sauces were so good with the bread, we almost returned the dish completely clean. So ok, I went downtown to meet my old supervisor and a friend who worked at the same office many years ago (across from the World Trade Center). She gave me a few suggestions and we picked this one. The manager (or he could be the owner) was a friendly gentleman who likes to joke, also a nice fellow. Juliana was our waitress. She's friendly and attentive. We ordered calamari to share. The calamari app includes some fish. Then I had the black linguini with shrimp. My friend had salmon special and that looked super neat and fresh. My dish was unbelievable! The shrimp came with the heads on. I'm glad they didn't cut the head because I like the head. Did I mention that I eat fish head a lot too? Most people want to know the secret of my good memory. Fish head! That's the answer! You'll be thanking me for the rest of your life for making you remember everything that you try to forget! My pasta was delicious, I won't forget that. The sauce was very good. My friend liked her salmon dish. She said she's been here before and liked the food the last time she was here too. Good to know they're consistent. A super authentic Italian restaurant in downtown MH! The place is nicely decorated with a modern chic and comic book drawings along the walls. The ambiance is nice and there is also a full service bar. Food here is delicious and the open kitchen window allows diners to see inside their inner workings. Staying in downtown NY for couple days. I was craving pasta and found this place nearby. Unfortunately, it was not the best experience :( Made reservation online quickly and the staff informed us another 10-15 mins (we don't mind) and directed us to get a drink at the bar which is at full capacity. When we went back waiting at the front, the same staff asked if we have been helped again 2 mins after our first conversation.. There was no other guests waiting this entire time except two of us..not sure what just happened within that 2 mins of memory. Environment: 3.5/5 We were seating near the bathroom hallway and the restaurant seems dark. Staff: the staff was nice enough to pull two tables together for us to give us a little bit more space. Food: This is not a traditional Italian food restaurant. Maybe some people prefer this, but not necessarily to our taste. The seafood pasta needs more flavor and has almost no pasta in it. The octopus with potatoes was hard to chew on the top. The cheese in the salad appetizer was hard and had no flavor except olive oil. The starter bread is not one of these well made bread. This is just a personal experience ( it doesn't necessarily reflect the restaurant overall quality), but sad to say we won't come back any time soon. read more

We came here on a Friday night with a reservation. We were seated immediately. We ordered the meat and cheese platter, steak, spinach, and octopus. Very delicious food! We had our steak well-done, and it was very flavorful. The ambience was great - very big and open. You can even see the kitchen as they are preparing the food. Warm, inviting and thoroughly unpretentious thankfully foregoing the Italiano overkill that plagues some places looking to remind you you're consuming the most popular cuisine on earth in a Tuscan diorama. Came here for a special event. The food was was good - I had a pasta dish with spicy Arrabbiata(?) sauce and my friend had Chicken schnitzel with salad. The dessert was tiramisu. The pasta dish was great - I loved that the tomato sauce had just the right amount of kick to it. The chicken schnitzel was very tender and the portion was generous. I came here a while back with my girlfriend and it is a restaurant that I had anticipated going to for the longest time. To preface, I will start off by saying the high expectations met by disappointment, along with there being lots of other Italian restaurants in the city, might be the reason for the negative review. The ambiance wasn't the worst, but there are restaurants I've been to that have had a better ambiance, especially at this price point. To start off, we got the piatto del salumiere for 2, as it was recommended by the server, and the parmigiana di melanzane. Though the dishes were not bad, they were very underwhelming, with the assorted cured meat and cheese plate being similar to that which I made with cured meat and cheese from a supermarket. The only redeeming quality of it was the walnuts, which appear to have been glazed in some sweet sugar-like glaze. The parmigiana di melanzane was also not bad but was very forgetable. For the primi, I ordered myself the garganelli and my girlfriend the black linguine, which I had heard was superb so I decided to let her try it. However, upon trying both pastas, I was immediately disappointed. The garganelli was very bland and very difficult to eat after a few bites, and the black linguine had a strong umami, almost fishy taste. It was very unpleasant to eat and I just remember feeling bad for ordering her the black linguine as she is not a very picky eater, but she didn't seem to be very appetized by the dish. The service wasn't too bad and the waiter was very nice, but it was quite slow given each server only had one or two tables to take care of. Overall, I did not personally find the experience to be worth it. read more

I was driven to go to this place based on their reviews. I was greeted at the door by one of the managers, and who found me a wonderful table; kind of secluded . I had been walking for a bit. The server recommended a tequila cocktail, and prefaced by saying it was a little spicy. I am used to margaritas with a kick, well with Mexican heritage you can't get past that.! I asked the server to have some simple syrup added, as it was a bit on the bitter side. I ordered a lovely salad, and did try to take a couple more sips, however I was not finding the drink to be a good option to the meal. I only drank a quarter of the drink. I ordered a glass of wine which was superb, and then I asked the server if he could take the drink off the bill. Supposedly he consulted one of the managers came back to the table, and said I'm sorry that is what you ordered, so we can't take it off the bill. I have been fortunate to experience fine dining for most of my 50 years. I was shocked at the fact that they couldn't take one lousy drink off of a bill, when I ordered other things and actually would give the food and the ambience of this place a five star rating. After having a relaxing, stress-free day at Sojo Spa (took the day off from work) and enjoying The China Institute's "Art of The Mountain" Exhibit, I was ready to eat! De Claudio popped up and the reviews and food pictures looked great....I walked there as fast as my feet could go!-lol. I know, I have said this about other Italian restaurants and it is all true! I like all of the Italian eateries that I have been to- Why? Well, you already know how much I love Italian Food- lol. That by default makes me like any restaurant that serves Italian dishes. However, De Claudio not only creates and serves what I enjoy eating but does so with lovely staff that create positive energy that manifests itself into excellent customer service. De Claudio is spacious in a cozy kind of way. The best way for me to describe De Claudio's ambiance is that it is low-key and down-to-earth yet elegant at the same time. This place had Candle lightin as well as a mixture of various sized table settings and a bar. I opted to sit at the bar and had the most pleasant dining experience. I started with the Piatto Del Salumiere which is an Assorted Cured Meat and Cheese Plate w/ Olives. Jose made my Pineapple Juice look like a mocktail which was cute. The Garganelli entree had tender pasta with great tasting meat and marinara sauce. Thanks to Jose for suggesting that I have Tiramisu and then mentioned that Amaro liquor would pair well with that dessert. The Amaro and Tiramisu complimented each other. Bar Servers Jose and T.T. were so lovely. It seemed like "Service with a Smile" should be there motto because they sure did that with ease for the duration of my meal. Both of them were so kind, patient, humorous and provided great recommendations on possible entrees and desserts should be ordered. Shout-Out to them as they showed they are hardworking (kept the bar in tip-top shape), good natured individuals....I made sure to mention that on the restaurant's survey you can complete as it comes along with your bill. Great spot for afterwork drinks and traditional Italian fare. This is a welcome addition in the Financial District, where lots of the happy hours spots are pubs and bars. I believe happy hour runs until 7 and the wine selection is REALLY good. I opted for the Aperol spritz during my first time here and it was made to perfection. For dinner, I ordered the linguini made with squid ink which I think is made in house. It had that extreme seafood flavor, stronger than any squid ink linguini I've had before, and I honestly couldn't tell if it was a good or bad thing. It was served with a decent portion of prawns on top which were obviously fresh. Would I order this dish again? I'm not sure because the flavor was a bit much for me, but I'd definitely come back for the happy hour special. read more
