My friend and I recently met for dinner at Da Claudio and had a fabulous meal. The large restaurant and friendly staff made for a welcoming experience. We started by ordering Aperol Spritzes from their discounted happy hour menu. We enjoyed those with the bread basket, which included sweet cranberry walnut and doughy white varieties. For my entrée, I selected the Black Linguine with Prawns. The squid ink pasta was delicious, but definitely softer than al dente. The 3 head-on, grilled prawns were extremely flavorful, but rather lean on the meat. There was the perfect amount of spicy tomato sauce covering the pasta, and it had the ideal level of potency. Da Claudio was a great find in an area that was rather limited in terms of affordable, casual dining options. read more

I finally had the opportunity to check off a place off my restaurant bucket list. I made my reservation for a late dinner on Opentable. When I arrived at the restaurant the outdoor dining was setup across the street from the restaurant there were two tables designed for two people and the remaining two tables are designed to seat up to 4 people. When I arrived, I had my water but they ran out of individually wrapped straws. The complementary roll cut in half was cold and hard so it was not consumed. I ordered the frito misto (fried calamari, fried shrimp and fried fish) and mango cheesecake. My server was knowledgeable, pleasant and accommodating. The frito misto ($23) was delicious, the appetizer was meant for sharing but definitely a great meal for one. After finishing my dish, the server returned to clean the table, which was amazing especially during these times. The mango cheesecake ($12) was the perfect portion and a great ending to my meal experience. I will definitely return to this restaurant to try their paninis, which I heard was huge. read more

Hmmm. Very nice ambiance. If you were to walk by you would think this would be a good date spot. But for the price I think you can find better Italian options. Complimentary bread is cold but tasty. I came here with my son and husband. This place was recommended everywhere so I thought we would give it a try. I was thoroughly unimpressed. The restaurant was very empty. There were a few tables filled with what I can only imagine were regulars because of the attention they were given. Our service was the bare minimum - waitress who was also the hostess ( wearing a mask for covid) stopped by maybe 3 times. We had a reservation but there was no acknowledgment of it. The food was ok. The cocktail list was not interesting so I ordered the limited wine per glass for $ 20 a glass. To be clear price is not my concern. the entire vibe was just wrong and i wanted out of there asap. Pop art on the walls with low lighting . Our seat was smack in the middle of the room with another table 2 inches from us. The food will not bring me back. Go to little italy and enjoy authentic tasting food and well planned atmospheres .. I have no idea what this place was going for and how they are so highly recommended. read more

The portion sizes were a little small for the price point and the drinks weren't bad! Everyone voted that the best dish on the table was the lasagna! This also surprised us but each one of us was saving our last bites for the lasagna. The layers of pasta paired with the cheeses were DELICIOUS -- absolute recommend every time you go!! The second best was the Brussel Sprouts that were cooked in the fat of the pancetta, which was deliciouuuss. Would also recommend this dish! The seafood medley was also great -- the sauces were so good with the bread, we almost returned the dish completely clean. The calamari app includes some fish. Then I had the black linguini with shrimp. My friend had salmon special and that looked super neat and fresh. My dish was unbelievable! The shrimp came with the heads on. I'm glad they didn't cut the head because I like the head. Did I mention that I eat fish head a lot too? Most people want to know the secret of my good memory. Fish head! That's the answer! You'll be thanking me for the rest of your life for making you remember everything that you try to forget! My pasta was delicious, I won't forget that. The sauce was very good. My friend liked her salmon dish. She said she's been here before and liked the food the last time she was here too. Good to know they're consistent. We both finished our meals. The restaurant's pretty big with a high ceiling and we sat by the booth. I got a pretty good view of the whole restaurant. I definitely enjoyed dining here. A super authentic Italian restaurant in downtown MH! The place is nicely decorated with a modern chic and comic book drawings along the walls. The ambiance is nice and there is also a full service bar. Food here is delicious and the open kitchen window allows diners to see inside their inner workings. Staying in downtown NY for couple days. I was craving pasta and found this place nearby. Unfortunately, it was not the best experience :( Made reservation online quickly and the staff informed us another 10-15 mins (we don't mind) and directed us to get a drink at the bar which is at full capacity. When we went back waiting at the front, the same staff asked if we have been helped again 2 mins after our first conversation.. There was no other guests waiting this entire time except two of us..not sure what just happened within that 2 mins of memory. Environment: 3.5/5 We were seating near the bathroom hallway and the restaurant seems dark. Staff: the staff was nice enough to pull two tables together for us to give us a little bit more space. Food: This is not a traditional Italian food restaurant. Maybe some people prefer this, but not necessarily to our taste. The seafood pasta needs more flavor and has almost no pasta in it. The octopus with potatoes was hard to chew on the top. The cheese in the salad appetizer was hard and had no flavor except olive oil. The starter bread is not one of these well made bread. This is just a personal experience ( it doesn't necessarily reflect the restaurant overall quality), but sad to say we won't come back any time soon. read more

We came here on a Friday night with a reservation. We were seated immediately. We ordered the meat and cheese platter, steak, spinach, and octopus. Very delicious food! We had our steak well-done, and it was very flavorful. The ambience was great - very big and open. You can even see the kitchen as they are preparing the food. Warm, inviting and thoroughly unpretentious thankfully foregoing the Italiano overkill that plagues some places looking to remind you you're consuming the most popular cuisine on earth in a Tuscan diorama. I thoroughly enjoyed a simple meal of prosciutto de parma and black linguini with prawns. Service was immaculate with a light touch allowing guests to linger over a cappuccino and conversation without the overbearing urge to turn tables that plaques some NYC eateries. The pasta dish was great - I loved that the tomato sauce had just the right amount of kick to it. The chicken schnitzel was very tender and the portion was generous. Service was very friendly and our waitress helped us pick a wine that would go well with our entrées. Artichoke bruschetta was delicious but lacked the pesto flavor.
