Food was above average. Service was excellent. Chairs were uncomfortable though, like sitting at a woods seat in elementary school.

The food here was pretty good, but we were just meh on the service. My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary dinner. I decided to make a reservation, even though it's usually not crowded. We were a few minutes late, but it wasn't a problem at all. When we sat down, though, the couple next to us told us that the waitress had overcharged them twice on their bill, so we went into dinner a little skeptical. Our waitress was very nice, though. We ordered the burrata special to start, which was pretty good except it was mostly cabbage. My boyfriend ordered the bolognese, which was the best dish of the evening. The pasta was cooked really well, and the sauce was super flavorful. I got the spaghetti carbonara. I thought it was pretty good, but I've had better in the city. We didn't order dessert, but the waitress brought over a tiramisu for our anniversary. We thought that was very nice of the restaurant, until I went to pay and saw that they had charged us for it, even though we didn't order it. I thought that was kind of strange service. Decent restaurant overall, but there are better Italian options nearby. read more

Excellent service with a space that seems a bit larger than usual. The pasta across the board is delicious. Excellent appetizers like the octopus and each dish is cooked with great flavor and this location in FiDi was a pleasant surprise. Since it is in Fidi though, expect the prices that are a bit high. Of course they have excellent specials and happy hours for the location. I'm really one to avoid nice dining in FiDi unless its on some sort of tab, but for a decent surprise and bite with great ambiance definitely come check out Da Claudio. read more

We found this great place after doing a search for an Italian restaurant that took large groups. We loved every part of our experience there. First of all, the ambiance was very nice. Low, decent lighting, and despite being full the noise level was great. Our party was able to have a normal conversation. The host was very friendly and professional, making sure we were always taken care of. The staff were fast, attentive, offered great suggestions and we never felt rushed. They had very creative cocktails I'd never heard of and the food was delicious, all fresh and decent sized portions. We had the Caesar salad, grilles vegetables and potatoes, lasagna and a mixed seafood dish. This was a nice surprise and all agreed we'd be returning. read more

Cute italian restaurant located in the financial district. The interior is very charming, warm, and welcoming. We had reservations but on a Saturday they still had space if you wanted to walk-in. We started with a half bottle of wine and then went straight for the entrees. I opted for the lasagna and my partner had the calamarata. The lasagna was a good size piece coated in melted cheese and in a wagyu bolognese sauce. That said it wasn't necessarily the most memorable lasagna. My partner was quite happy with the calamarata which had seafood, very al dente pasta, and a lobster sauce. Overall, it was solid italian food and made for a good, warm deal on a cold night. Got the fried artichokes to share, and black linguine for the entree. The fried artichokes were delicious, though there was quite a bit of the breadcrumb topping. The black linguine topped with spot prawns was ok, but was a bit bland in flavor. Ended by sharing the chocolate mousse, which was delicious! They were fast, which is nice. I ordered the linguine with sausage -- it was just covered in fat and cream. It was gross. So much fat and cream is NOT Italian, I'm not sure what other people are talking about, but they haven't been to Italy. I also had the preserved beef salad. It was ok. Across from the Moxy hotel sits Da Claudio. I've eaten here 3 times & the wait staff is excellent. I came here today with a large party and overall the experience was good. I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan and it was ok & was $22.00 on the lunch menu. The lunch menu is not cheap but it is average for the neighborhood & the portions are a nice size considering the cost. I enjoy the staff more than the food here but I prefer more hearty heavy Italian food & this is not that kind of restaurant. I might go again & try a different meal. read more

First time here as we we're exploring the are. We were greeted immediately, yet not with the warm welcome the reviews suggest we would receive. The service left much to be desired. We had to ask what the specials were. Ask if there were any recommended dishes for a vegetarian. Had to ask if there was as option for pasta and veggies only. Lots of probing. The manager who seated us only walked by our table to grab the salt upon completion. We literally finished our meals without anyone asking how it was. My husband had the pasta special I had the Ceasar with shrimp. It was interesting to see regulars treated with such hospitality and yet our engagement was flat and left a bit to be desired. I asked for the check at the beginning of writing this review. After proofing and editing (at least 5 minutes) there still is no check. Yet the table of of locals who are sitting within a stones throw, have been addressed several times. Our waitress did share biscottis 'on the house'; I presume it was because my rating is in clear view of the server station. read more

Came here with my dad and partner before a church service at St. Paul's. Had the fried artichoke appetizer, wagyu bolognese and chocolate mousse tart. Service here was really excellent and the owner Claudio was super cordial. The fried artichoke hearts were really good and so was the bolognese. This place is definitely a nice find if you're in the financial district. Only complaint is that some of the hazelnut ice cream had ice crystals in it like it had melted and then ben re-frozen. But they did have a wonderful bottle of Nero D'avola Sicilian red wine. read more

We were a party of 16 on a busy night, and the place was crowded. Nonetheless, the service was excellent and the food was outstanding. A bit noisy, but everyplace is these days. Who knew a gem like this existed in FiDi, of all places! First time I was here I was so surprised by the vibe and ambiance. The decorum is really great and the lighting is perfect, not too dark (unlike some trendy spots that go for an "intimate" vibe where you can hardly see the person sitting across from you..) The place is super trendy with cool pop art, a nicely illuminated open kitchen, over has a great feel. The food is quite delicious, I have ordered a few different things on the 3 times I have been there. I'd have to recommend the lamb fussili, it was delectable. I've also had the calamari which was fried perfectly to allow the juiciness of the squid to come through but with great crisp covering it. My friend ordered the black fettuccine and the prawns looked amazing and were huge! The best part about this place is that the prices are incredibly fair for the quality of the food and experience. If am ever looking for a place to eat in FiDi, especially Italian, I always push for this spot. Everyone I've taken here so far are always impressed! read more

The food is amazing! However, the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I've been here three times in total and each time management has done something to make me feel uncomfortable or did something to show poor customer service skills. One example is how a friend and I recently did outdoor dining. We were positioned in front of a heater which was needed wh cause it was 30 degrees. The manager of the restaurant promptly took our heat away and gave it to a couple who came in. Not even in a position where it could be on all of us. Then when it was time to split the check, I was billed the entire chick and he billed my friend half the check, so we overpaid for the meal. He never mentioned anything to me in person and when I called back later he seemed unconcerned and said it was just a pending charge and it can drop off. That's all fine and good, but as a manager, you need to inform people about what's going on with their money and not leave any surprises. Come here for the food, but beware of the service. read more

**update** The cacio e pepe is not good. It is more like fettuccine Alfredo doused in cream sauce w deflated peppercorns. Everything else we've had from this place is excellent but I had to remove a star for this classic dish done completely wrong. This restaurant has excellent quality Italian cuisine + great and timely delivery. I would highly recommend this as a neighborhood Italian joint with all of the classics to choose from on the menu. Note, we have never been to the restaurant. This review is based on delivery only. It's been difficult to review Italian places because I've found myself relegated to mostly the salad and fish parts of the menu. Lately, I'm becoming less interested in animal meat (with the exception of a bite of my boyfriend's burger) and, though I am still an avid pasta-eater, I've come to realize that the effects of a massive plate of carbs (because I will finish the whole thing AND some of the complimentary bread) outweigh the initial burst of euphoria. (cue the boos) But what usually ends up happening is I'll have a relatively virtuous entree and then go HAM on whatever dessert one of my tablemates ends up ordering. The salmon with some kind of mango and veggie slivers was cooked well but the dish was a whole was extremely oily. I'm not one to shy away from olive oil or butter - this had me wiping off my mouth at every bite. I did like everything else about the meal, however: (1) the nutty, seed-studded house bread provided before the meal (bread is definitely something that will have to be pried out of my cold, dead hands); (2) the Nutella cheesecake with the giant swath of caramel syrup along the side; (3) the biscotti they gave on the side that I almost broke my teeth on but were still so, so good; and (4) I liked the broccoli rabe much more than the veggies with the salmon. I feel like I always end up raving about the side dishes/desserts more so than the main course. Such is the life of a chocolate-holic. read more

Great after work dinner spot. Spacious and convenient, takes reservations online. Very friendly service and a large selection on the menu. We started out with the special zucchini flower with smoked mozzarella and ricotta, lightly fried ($24) with cherry tomatoes and zucchini pieces. It's a great combo but slightly too cheesy for my taste. Three of us each chose the pasta dishes with generous portions. My garganelli was excellent because of the just right texture (softer side) with the wagyu bolognese, which I wanted to scrape from my plate. They were able to take out the eggplant from my friend's special spaghetti with clam sauce. The Nutella cheesecake for dessert was creamy and more moose like, but rich enough to share for 3. This is a fine place for a business lunch during the work day. I'm not exactly sure why it's averaging 4.5 stars because it's not like the best thing since sliced bread. The uni sauce on the squid ink noodles was too watery and their cocktail menu is too limited and not innovative enough to seek this place out for cocktails. But the fried artichoke appetizer and salads were great. I'd have no problem coming back here for a casual work lunch but if you're looking for something to impress a client I'd look elsewhere. read more

The octopus dish was alright, I feel like there was too much of a bitter taste (was it artichoke?). The mixed calamari and the carbonara were on point. Three stars. Came on a Monday night with barely any patrons in the establishment, granted it was an hour before closing. Food took extremely long to arrive, although I didn't really notice because I was occupied with my companion. To their credit, the staff noticed the wait and apologized after offering a complimentary drink and dessert. When we were ready to leave, I had half a plate of pasta left which I instructed to be packed to go, but the staff inadvertently threw it out. It was frustrating given the other hiccups throughout the night, but the staff did make it right with a full replacement of the meal. It was probably just an off night, but this was a less than stellar experience. The food was solid; it was my first time having garganelli and it was enjoyable. My close friends and I choose to come to this place for a fancy dinner after seeing all the good reviews on Yelp. We made reservations for 6:30 on a Thursday and when we came the place had a lot of empty seats. I think the manager was at the door and he was greeting and seating everyone in the beginning, he was extremely friendly and welcoming. The place itself was bigger than I expected. The lighting was dim and it had very romantic lighting. Our waiter was extremely friendly as well as he went through the menu items with us. He was super patient in explaining which dishes did not have cheese in it since one of my friends hates cheese. Food wise was pretty good. -Spaghetti Carbonara was delicious. It was very creamy with the right amount of flavor but yet was not too salty. -Gnocchi was also delicious. It had great flavor without being too salty. -Squidink Linguine was good as well. The tomato sauce was spicier than we expected, it had a good kick to it and we could taste the squid ink. Honestly, I would past on the dessert because they were kind of pricey and they were not anything special but the main courses were delicious. Our only compliant was that the portions are on the smaller side - all of us were still hungry after our meal despite eating all the bread, our own entrees and getting dessert (maybe we are just use to eating HUGE portions for dinner). The service was pretty good, expect when it got busier. Our waiter got less attentive as the place got busier and we had to wait a while before he brought us the check and before he came with the dessert menu etc. Otherwise, I can definitely see us coming back to this place since the food was really good. read more

Came here on a date on a Tuesday night. The atmosphere was chill, the place wasn't too loud. It was 6pm so it wasn't too busy yet. We were seated fairly quickly without a reservation. Not too much of an array of drinks on the Happy Hour Menu, but I was happy with the wine I chose. Also, shout out to the waiter who literally topped off my water every 15 minutes. I drink a lot of water, and he kept notice of that and kept coming back! For dinner I had the Cacio e pepe and it was DELICIOUS! This is one of my favorite pasta dishes and they definitely did it right. The bucatini was perfectly al dente, and the taste was on point. My date had the lasagna and he enjoyed it as well. Great place to wine and dine. Great selection of drinks and food. The menu is well thought out and the service is amazing. I recommend the da Claudio spritz during happy hour. For food definitely check out the calamari, Prosciutto di Parma and the bruschetta to start. For main course I went with the Bucatini Arrabbiata. It's a a wonderful pasta that is perfectly cooked, and the spice is a slow burn, nothing to unbeatable. I do wish there were something else in the pasta because it is a plain pasta with sauce. I was staying across the street at the Moxy hotel for work and decided to try this place out. I wouldn't say it was a unique experience but the steak I ordered was pretty good, service was fine. I would probably come back if I was staying at the Moxy again but probably won't go out of my way to come back here as there are better options further away. read more

Oh man this place was so good! Walked in at 8pm on a Thursday. Not super packed, but not empty either. Lovely ambiance and decor. We were seated promptly. Service was friendly and on top of their game. I had the Black Linguine, my first time eating squid ink pasta, and it was fantastic! Came with three huge, super fresh prawns that had an awesome texture, very flavorful. Slightly spicy tomato sauce. I got the leftovers packed in a box and immediately ate it when I got home. Friend had the veal scappoline special and he finished it really fast too! Their Dolce Chicca mocktail was also really good. Friend had some kind of wine and asked for seconds. Food was pretty average; not bad, but nothing spectacular in a city full of great Italian restaurants either. Polipo (octopus appetizer) -- flavor decent, but texture could've been better. The octopus was sort of soft and lacked the chewiness it should have. Black fettuccine -- this was probably our favorite dish; the spice in the sauce had a nice kick. Lasagna -- my friend saw a picture of this on social media, which was the whole reason why we came. All I can say is the lasagna was fine, but nothing worth coming out of the way for. It seemed like a pretty standard lasagna, perhaps a little on the heavy and salty side even. Smoked salmon linguine -- this was also pretty average. The lemon sauce helped cut the heaviness of the cream sauce, but the acidity was pretty strong and stood out on its own quite distinctly. Nutella cheesecake -- it sounded much more exciting than it was. The cheesecake itself was pretty dense, and the nutella was mixed in, which is fine, but it wasn't that evident; if you didn't tell me it was nutella, I wouldn't have known. read more
