(Portugese doughnut) I ordered the Salmon poke bowl. I can't recommend this dish, that's all I'm going to say. I'm not into ripping small businesses because I know first hand the difficulties of business ownership. My wife ordered the "mini" kalbi ribs. Unfortunately after taking one bite, she pushed the dish away. It looked and tasted like a reheat. In other words, not made fresh. It was on the savory side. My wife and many other people enjoy a sweeter version of kalbi rib. I didn't mind the savory but in Hawai'i, we just call it shoyu style ribs. The Mac salad lacked creaminess and flavor. The complimentary malasada we chose were filled with coconut pudding. They make it to order so plan accordingly. Remember, all reviews are relative to whose giving it ... right? My wife didn't enjoy it as much as I did. Realize that it's a rendition of a Portugese doughnut. A lot of passion goes into making this doughnut. A taste of Hawaii hidden in Temecula.. We were on the way to Pechanga and stumbled across their excellent reviews. Glad we stopped by! They made great recommendations so we tried a few things, and it was yummy. The chicken katsu coconut curry was a unique mix of flavors. I recommend getting the sauce on the side so it doesn't overpower the chicken. The poke hand rolls was a good alternative to the if you don't want to get a poke bowl. I just wish they used better seaweed paper because it was soft and mushy. But for sure, you MUST order a malasada (comes plain, or with chocolate, vanilla, or coconut filling). The malasada with coconut cream was a treat, not too sweet but baked to perfection. I will come back just for the malasada, and bring a bigger appetite to try other items on the menu. read more

Kalua pork was very juicy and not overly salty like a lot of places. Appreciated that the mac salad wasn't drowned in mayo and was very light & easy to eat. The lumpia was a nice touch and the ground beef mix inside had me finishing it before everything else. Malsada was freshly made to order and was nice and fluffy when you bite into it. The only thing was that there was too much sugar on it but just scraped off what I didn't want so it wasn't a big deal. Loved it. We had a family reunion in Temecula this past summer, and prior to the event, my husband and I spent a weekend in Temecula to check out the area. This place was on our list to visit and it did not disappoint. The food was great and Cheri, the manager, is so hospitable. We told her about the reunion and she gave us some great ideas for planning. Come July and 160 of our family members are gathered in Temecula for a week of fun! I had reached out to Cheri to let her know that a large group of us planned to have dinner there one night. About 50 of us showed up and everyone was so accommodating! Cheri was so welcoming and the staff was so great in getting all our orders out in a timely manner. It could have been quite overwhelming but they were on it! And the food is excellent! Came by here during my extremely long lunch to pick up some food to go. With COVID precautions in place, Da Coconut Cafe was extremely cautious and vigilant when taking orders and social distancing customers waiting for their food. I ordered the Kalua Pork Fries and spent my time waiting for my order looking at all their fun Hawaiian snacks they carried in the store. From Li Hing Mui gummies to sauces and spices from the island, they had a small slice of Hawaii in their shop. Once I got my order, I was impressed at the large portion that they served. The pork was juicy and flavorful and I really enjoyed the combination of flavors. My only downside was the amount of garlic aioli that was put on top, I wish I had asked for that on the side as I do prefer my fries less saucey. It is a delicious aioli, but my personal preference is definitely lighter on the sauce. If I'm in town again, I'll definitely stop by to pick up some bomb fries! read more
