Mahi mahi burger and food truck
LeeAnna B.

Amazing mahi mahi burger! Perfectly cooked! This sandwich had a thick cut of moist and tender mahi mahi fish with fresh spinach, tomato, and onion. The bread was soft and sweet. The girl working the front of the food truck was super friendly and had great recommendations. The food came out hot and shortly after ordering. The food truck is parked among other trucks in the perimeter of an outside space with picnic tables (some covered and some out in the sun). I will definitely be coming back!

I stopped by here earlier today with my wife for dinner. We were in Kanapali for sunset and so figured we would head to the Hoopiilani Food Truck Park for dinner. My wife and I love coming to places like this and each ordering our own food and then splitting whatever we have ordered. On this night I decided to go to the Da Food Anchor for my portion of the dinner. Since it's a food truck, there isn't too much to say about it except that it had a menu hanging on the side and then two guys with masks on inside working. For dinner on this evening I decided to go with the lamb gyro. After ordering I was told it would be about 10 minutes before my food was ready. No more than 5 minutes later my name was called and my gyro was ready. The menu described it as coming with tzatziki, red onion, cucumber, feta cheese and wrapped in pita bread. Whenever I went to eat it, both the pita and the meat were still quite warm which I thought was nice. The meat itself here was juicy and the tzatziki added a nice bit of flavor and wetness to the dish. Then the cucumbers and tomatoes actually made the gyro a little too full and kept on spilling out. Finally the feta added a strong flavor which I enjoyed and brought everything together. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by again in the future. While $13 seems a bit steep for a gyro and in Pittsburgh it certainly would be, I have to remember that Hawai'i prices are more and that the gyro was good.

Clumps of pasta wrapped in someone's hair! Disgusting!

The Gyros Sandwich I picked up was edible, but not remarkable either. The meat also had too thin of a texture imo too.

Instead of two entrées, we decided one appetizer and one entrée, simply because I think their meatballs are the best on the island. They are fantastic. The fresh baked focaccia bread was also outstanding, although my girlfriend and I both found the vinegar/oil a weird mix as the vinegar would not stick to the bread because of the oil. The service was fantastic. You're probably thinking how is this review two star when half of the meal and service is already fantastic? It started with the last two times we came to Casanova's upcountry. *black and white flashback* Casanova's was the restaurant of our first date 6 years ago and we always went there for any special occasion. It always delivered. However, the two most recent trips were less than subpar. The pizza had to be eaten with a fork because the crust was so floppy and thin, and the service was just not there. We had one of those grumpy waiters who made us feel bad for even asking for something. And then the sorbet dessert took more than 30 minutes to come out. *back to present day* So we told ourselves, this would be the third strike, and if Casanova's still disappointed, they would be out of the regular rotation. The waiter asked us if we wanted bread, and my girlfriend said, "yes, please." But then I noticed that bread is not free. To me, you don't offer something that is complementary at many places without letting people know it's gonna cost them. Then, for the meatballs, which, mind you, are still amazing...the manager asked if we wanted parmesan cheese. We said yes, and he brought back what appeared to be Kraft Parmesan cheese from the green cylinder container. You guys all know the one. The ground powder that you grew up thinking is what Parmesan cheese topping is, but then you go to a real Italian restaurant and realize no, it's actually something that is a much more luxurious experience. It is bursting with flavor and shredded on your plate for maximum freshness. I guess it's the same thing as grinding pepper over your salad versus giving you a salt shaker. This is not Fazzoli's lol Also, I do not know if they raised prices since our last few times, but everything felt more expensive. The chicken parmesan was $33. It was ok. It wasn't this omg experience like we had had previously, but, we also couldn't tell if it was just all of the experiences finally coming to a head. A month ago, I had also spoken with a coworker of their own subpar experience at Casanova's as well. So here we are, over $60 for what should've been a cheap night out for one appetizer and one entrée. ...And with this crazy weird Parmesan experience. We felt like they were increasing prices, but lowering the quality of the ingredients. We couldn't put our finger on it, other than to say this was a value to price mismatch. Given the prior two times, this was strike three. We will not be going here again.

We sat outside and even though it was a very hot day, the temperature was very comfortable under the roofed area. The Pinot Grigio was excellent! Our meal was brought out in a timely manner and Grace was an attentive server. The Caesar dressing is perfection! The diavolo sauce was delicious and just-right spicy. We loved the meatballs and the fettuccine was cooked perfectly. The pizza!!!!! Wow. Just the right amount of crisp in the crust and the toppings were a delicious combination of flavors. The focaccia with marinara could have been a meal for me. The bread was hot and crispy while also being soft and savory. I couldn't get enough of the marinara. We had a lot of leftovers and ate some for dinner and still have more for tomorrow. Repetti's will be a new place for us to dine and bring friends as often as possible. I am happy to share that it remains a classic and unique experience for locals and visitors alike. Last night we decided to go since we were celebrating a friend's recovery from open heart surgery at Queens six weeks earlier and even though it was the July Fourth holiday weekend we had an excellent meal. Seated next to the crashing surf with a sweeping view of Kailua Bay we enjoyed cocktails as the sun slowly set. We were fortunate to be taken care of by Joe, who as it turned out had worked there 17 years and he made some good suggestions. The sizzling mushrooms were a delight. My wife had the lamb shank, and I had the pork chop. Both were amazingly tender and tasty. Our friends had the signature Teriyaki steak and pasta with Kauai prawns and ended up wishing they'd had ours. The signature steak has great flavor but flank steak is not as good as a ribeye grilled at my place, or so they told me. They are somewhat spoiled. ): But we all had a great time and were especially pleased with Joe as we went down memory lane and caught up on mutual friends. We're grateful that Eric and his team have kept this and the other restaurants they own top notch. Also well worth noting is that its employee ownership program ensures the legacy of quality will continue. Parking here is a challenge but there's free validated parking and then if you don't mind a bit of a walk there are other options. I forgot to ask about parking as we parked and walked this time because the lot was full but that's not surprising given it was a holiday weekend. Mahalo.

Our server seemed a bit defeated, I think he was exhausted and I felt kind of bad for him. For my birthday they gave me a nice little cheesecake. Not too sweet, with apple banana and creamy peanut goodness in the center. On the Miopastalogy side, we ordered: 1) The Special: Salmon ikura cream pasta- a beautifully cooked fetucine- "light on the cream" which made for a nicely coated but not too creamy white sauce with salmon flakes, mushrooms, spinach, capers and a dollop of ikura. Mom and aunty loved this. 2) Shoyu butter pasta- their most popular pasta also el dente, a light shoyu with bacon, mushrooms, spinach, katsuo bushi, and a pad of butter, sprinkled with nori and chili flakes over spaghetti. I think I just died and went to pasta heaven…read more Andrea is a super cool guy, setting up shop every weekend at the Kakaako and Kailua farmers market, selling his homemade pasta dishes. On today's farmers market adventure, my sister, my mom, and I set out for some cool local finds and came across Onda Pasta while looking for lunch. Andrea is super knowledgeable and passionate about his craft. We talked a bunch about pasta and I was surprised to find out that he makes everything himself! I purchased his mafaldine pasta (uncooked) and corn pesto sauce. Upon returning home, I was so excited to try out my purchase. The entire process took less than 10 minutes. Talk about a quick and easy meal! Andrea suggested I bring the pasta water to a boil and let the pasta cook for four minutes and that's exactly what I did. After letting the noodles cool I taste tested the noodles (of course) and they were perfect. Al dente! The perfect amount of chewy and taste. While boiling the noodles, I heated up the pasta sauce. The corn pesto was the perfect amount of sweet and savory. At the farmers market, Andrea suggested we add bits of crispy bacon and cheese to garnish our dish with. I unfortunately had neither bacon nor cheese so I made it my own and garnished it with baby tomatoes and basil from my garden. And let me tell you, he does not skimp on the pasta or sauce. One container of pasta and one container of sauce fed myself, my grandma, and mom comfortably. All in all, if you're looking for a quick, homemade, cook at home pasta meal, Onda Pasta is where it's at!
