13 dollars for a small bowl of pesto spaghetti and 3 tiny shrimp? No veggie no parm cheese I know times are tough but they really marked up a jar of pesto and box of spaghetti

Spaghetti with bolognese sauce and chicken

Came to try this place out an ordered take out for lunch. Very affordable and everything is à la carte. You choose noodles, sauce, and toppings separately, which allows for unique customization of the dish. I got the spaghetti with bolognese sauce and chicken. Spaghetti was cooked well and the bolognese sauce was flavorful. The chicken tasted like it was cooked and cut and then left in the fridge, which was probably the case. Next time I probably would order the italian sausage. Overall, I will come back to try the other pastas and sauces.

Build your own - linguine, bolognese, mushroom, onion

Came here for dinner on a Tuesday and ordered the build your own pasta with linguine, bolognese, mushroom, and onion. I like the texture of the noodles, and the sauce was flavorful. I love the concept of building your own pasta but they had preset options too! Dell's and Mio Pastalogy are in the same area and share seating, but you have to order from separate registers if you want a meal from each. It's an interesting combo, but I like that I can get both Japanese food and pasta in the same place. They also share the same parking lot. It wasn't super crowded when I came around 6, but it started to fill up. There is ample seating inside and a water pitcher which was nice. Overall great spot for comfort food and a casual dinner.

Mio Pastaology is a great affordable option for customized pasta. Parking Build your own pasta Nice setting Delicious Bakery items 4 of us went here and all tried different things but the Aurora sauce emerged as the fan favorite. It's a mix of marina and cream sauce and was the perfect mix. I got the macadamia pesto which was also good. We got the last small loaf of focaccia and let me tell you that focaccia is 10/10. Soft and herby deliciousness. Two of us got the egg on top but probably won't get it again because it was poached but a little too undercooked for us. Two others got broccoli as a topping and the only complaint is that it was literally like 4 pieces of broccoli. The sauce was great and pasta was made fresh, we tried spaghetti , papadelle, and rigatoni. I liked them all but spaghetti tasted the best in my opinion. Mio shares the store with Dells kitchen and bakery which is a little confusing at first since they share the same dining room and entrance but it's just two different menus. Dells is just a little more local/Japanese style. There's also a lot of bakery items but I only tried the focaccia. The prices were very reasonable, I think each of our build your own pasta was around $12. You can't find a much better deal than that and it was a lot of quantity, I didn't finish mine. Service was friendly and helpful, no complaints. It's self seat after ordering and they bring it out. Will definitely come back again when in the mood for pasta.

    Dashi Tomato Pasta

I love wafu pasta, dare I say it might be better than Italian pasta (sacrilegious, I know). But I find that it's a perfect mesh of traditional flavors and rich, umami notes. I'd say Mio Pastology did a swell job, especially for the price point! I ordered the Dashi Tomato pasta, mentaiko potato bread, and the strawberry yuzu matcha. The pasta was al dente (and homemade!), with the sauce on the side. It was perfectly light and tasted fresh, the dashi elements coming through, enhanced by the nori and katsuoboshi. The mentaiko potato bread was good but I've had better. The mentaiko flavor wasn't very strong, but I did like the sweetness from the bread surrounding the filling. I very much enjoyed the strawberry yuzu matcha, however at nearly 8 dollars, I will say the price point was quite high. In its defense, the matcha tasted of a higher quality and the drink was refreshing. I would definitely order again!! The store is cute and has quite a few tables to dine-in. I ordered the bread from the bakery section, but it looks as though they have bento/plate lunch offerings as well (unsure if the two are connected or not). I would definitely come back to try their mentaiko pasta or one of their specials!

One of my go-to restaurants for both takeout and dine-in, Mio Pastalogy is both casual and high quality! They specialize in fresh, homemade pasta and a menu skillfully combining Italian and Japanese flavors. My favorites are: Shoyu Butter: A delicious, salty and savory combination that may sound unusual, but I think almost anyone would enjoy. The bacon adds extra flavor but can be a bit too salty and oily for me sometimes, so I appreciate the addition of spinach and mushrooms as well, and I love that there's also a bit of chili flakes for some spice! Pesto Shrimp: Pasta and shrimp in a delicious macadamia nut pesto sauce! Note that you're only getting 3-4 shrimps in this dish, but considering the high quality pasta and it being reasonably priced at $12, I personally don't have an issue with it. In addition to their menu items, you can also customize your own pasta dish. With a good variety of options to choose from, you really can't go wrong, but I'd still highly recommend one of their signature dishes. Also, honorable mention for their Strawberry Matcha Yuzu-ade drink, which I'm obsessed with! There is also a casual, shared dine-in area. (Might be worth writing a separate review because I also really enjoy Dell's Kitchen!) The staff are always friendly and helpful, efficiently tending to both restaurants and the bakery counter! I order takeout from here fairly often, and I'm satisfied every time!

A simple concept of pasta, sauces and proteins choices. It's clean and friendly with good pasta but not overly complex. Had their 2 signature combos...bolognese eggplant and shoyu butter.

The casarecce in Aurora sauce was YUM! Its all about that sauce and the al dente pasta! Add in one of their fresh baked breads that was still warm to sop up all that sauce = so good!

I have been taking out from the Mio L location for a long time but had a period where we haven't had them. When we came back finally, we noticed they had a dine in option. We opted to try the dine in and were pleasantly surprised. While the take out is good, having it served fresh and in a large bowl is much better than the limited take out container size. Yuba and Scallop with Ginger sauce: 9/10. My family's personal favorite. The scallops were noticeably larger than the take out option and the noodles were perfect straight from the kitchen. Bacon, Mushroom, Spinach with Shoyu Butter: 8/10. It's silly but I like ordering this one. It has the right mix of savory/salty and the mix of butter of shoyu to pair everything together. The portion was definitely larger than when I was used to and the noodles were perfect. Mentaiko Pasta: 10/10. One of my family members ordered this and is very fond of Mentaiko. Personally, I can't eat it so I'll trust his rating of 10/10. Custom Shrimp in Pomodoro Sauce: 6/10. My other family member ordered this. While they enjoyed their custom order, they tried the all 3 of the other pastas at the table and felt underwhelmed after. I felt bad. Her final rating was a 6/10 after all happened. The dine in was a nice surprise and pasta really is best straight out from the kitchen. There are quite a few tables and they do table service.

I was craving for pasta and wanted to try something different. I ordered the butter shoyu pasta and it was very good. I also bought the focaccia and it's the best bread I've ever had. The price is pretty decent and the staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very clean and simple decor. Going back again to try other pasta dishes.

Updated review for Mio Pastalogy ( great name btw) on the corner of McCully Street and Young Street in McCully. It's been a few years since ordering from this Japanese owned restaurant - Maisen is the parent company. They share the space with sister company, Dell Kitchen and Bakery. Instead of ordering online...went in and requested a pasta bowl. Very affordable at $10, approximately. I decided to buid my own pasta bowl: Pappardelle, aglio e olio, poached egg, and parmesean. Tried it without the parmesean and it was fine as is...some unexpected spice from chili pepper but not spicy in the unbearable sense.Quite delicious and a bargain for a decent portion. Service is friendly and efficient. I didn't wait much more than ten minutes...I came after the lunch riush, so that helped. Dining area is open and spacious...there is even an outside table. Parking lot and street parking are available.

    Shoyu something pasta, soooo good
    Paul M.

Had a wonderful pasta lunch here! This restaurant is two restaurants, there is Dell's Kitchen & Bakery plus Mio Pastalogy. Both are excellent. Dell's kitchen is more japanese comfort food, and Mio Pastalogy is excellent pasta! We even tried some bread, pastries, and a blueberry pie, all were extremely good. I love this place, it's casual, but the food is just so much better than a lot of other places. I got the Bolognese Eggplant, sooooo good and the pasta was perfect al dente. I can't wait to try some more of their dishes!

On today's farmers market adventure, my sister, my mom, and I set out for some cool local finds and came across Onda Pasta while looking for lunch. Andrea is super knowledgeable and passionate about his craft. We talked a bunch about pasta and I was surprised to find out that he makes everything himself! I purchased his mafaldine pasta (uncooked) and corn pesto sauce. Upon returning home, I was so excited to try out my purchase. The entire process took less than 10 minutes. Talk about a quick and easy meal! Andrea suggested I bring the pasta water to a boil and let the pasta cook for four minutes and that's exactly what I did. After letting the noodles cool I taste tested the noodles (of course) and they were perfect. Al dente! The perfect amount of chewy and taste. While boiling the noodles, I heated up the pasta sauce. The corn pesto was the perfect amount of sweet and savory. At the farmers market, Andrea suggested we add bits of crispy bacon and cheese to garnish our dish with. I unfortunately had neither bacon nor cheese so I made it my own and garnished it with baby tomatoes and basil from my garden. And let me tell you, he does not skimp on the pasta or sauce. One container of pasta and one container of sauce fed myself, my grandma, and mom comfortably. All in all, if you're looking for a quick, homemade, cook at home pasta meal, Onda Pasta is where it's at!

Great products, unique products and the rice! High quality rice. If you say there's no difference,…read moreyou are mistaken. There is a difference. Picked up some dashi, Wafu steak sauce, rice, Onolab vegan kimchee, and some konbu mix for my miso soup! Staff is friendly and helpful. Did I mention the store is so Kawai!

I've been coming to The Rice Factory every year I visit Hawaii. I've carried bags of rice home in…read moremy luggage more times than I can count. That's how much I believe in what they sell. Which makes this review frustrating to write. The rice is exceptional. The sourcing is thoughtful, the seasonal varieties are genuinely special and if you care about Japanese rice, this place deserves its reputation. The service does not. On my latest visit I walked in with my family, including my two and four year old. If you've ever shopped with kids that age, you know you're already working overtime keeping little hands off displays, making sure nothing gets broken, trying to be respectful of the space. Not once did anyone greet us. No hello. No welcome. No acknowledgment that we'd even walked through the door. When I asked what I thought was a perfectly reasonable question whether I should buy the limited seasonal rice or the variety I'd enjoyed on a previous visit the answer felt dismissive, almost like I was wasting their time. If you're building a business around expertise, helping customers understand the differences shouldn't feel like pulling teeth. That's the entire point of having knowledgeable staff. Yes, the parking is inconvenient. Yes, the prices are premium. I can live with both because the product is genuinely excellent. What I can't understand is why a store built around craftsmanship seems so indifferent to hospitality. I still bought the rice because it's that good. But I left feeling like my business was expected, not appreciated. I sincerely hope they improve because I'd rather support them than look elsewhere. But if another shop opens with rice of this quality and people who simply smile, say hello and take a minute to help customers make a decision, I'll switch without thinking twice. The rice earns five stars. The experience earns one.
