Da Giorgio's food is impressive, considering its humble location at an old strip mall and the narrow, small size of the place. On a Sunday night, customers- namely Caucasians in their 50's and seniors-continued to come in. A reservation is most certainly needed. ++A good place for families and dates looking to celebrate a special occasion or have a nice dinner. --Though my family made a reservation, we still had to wait 10 minutes or so for a lingering table to end their chit chat despite another open table available. --This is not a place for big groups. ++Our waiter was pure Italian with his accent, though service was standard. ++Loved the dim, cozy, yet classy feel. With fall in full swing, this place is very warmly heated. ++Presentation of their dishes is excellent. We were wowed by pretty much everything. Appetizer recs: ++Stuffed Meatball Calabrese- pork, beef, and veal meatball filled with housemade mozzarella with side salad. There's only 1 meatball included in this app, however, the oozing mozzarella as you sliced the meatball was beautiful. Salad was fresh with a wide assortment of greens. ++Calamari Fritti- their mariana sauce was divine. Homemade, fresh with no hint of sourness. It could be a delicious tomato soup puree itself. Entree recs (2 pasta dishes were enough to be shared for a family of 4): ++Cavatelli Con le Vongole- Baby clams, cannellini, grape tomato, garlic & olive oil. The size of this dish is impressive, enough for 2 people alone. Cannellini is a white bean that surprisingly complements well with the dish. This is not a red sauce pasta- in fact there is little sauce but the chef still manages to make it well flavored. The pasta was not vongole- they were castellane instead, which are an oblong, shell shaped pasta. ++Linguini Cacio e Pepe- black pepper in a pecorrino romano cream sauce. Since the city no longer approves indoor dining, we decided to venture north for the experience because we are tired of same ole routine. Small restaurant approx 7 tables. Simple but yet nice ambience. Food: can't complain about any dishes we ordered. Portion was reasonable and the flavors was delightful. Unfortunately my only complaint is that a maj source of the restaurant income is take out, as a result the kitchen is extremely busy managing the orders and indoor dinners are suffering because service is slow. I had to flag staff down to refill our wine and beer. We would spend more, but my hubby didn't want to bother anyone further. The chef came out at some point and was checking in with everyone, this was a nice touch. Parking is easy and convenient. read more

And finally after 10 years I managed to make it to Da Giorgio! And I'm not sure why it took so long. It was a last minute decision and the table was available at 6:30 on Sunday. We were trying to get in and out in an hour max to make an 8pm movie 20 mins away. I was a bit concerned since I read a review of a meal taking really long. I politely requested the server and he was more than happy to speed things up. Since it was my first time I had to get the signature dish, Rigatoni Da Giorgio. The wife ordered the Eggplant Rollatini and the Artichoke special. The table is set with warm bread and an eggplant spread, and some extra virgin olive oil, and a nice candle! The food arrived very quickly! The rigatoni was a size able portion to share with a fairly thick sherry cream sauce and chunks of meat. The artichoke was huge and both of could barely finish it which was so yummy! The food and service were amazing and I can't wait to go back. We didn't have time for dessert so next time I will have some for sure. I'm hoping to meet the chef and owner too. read more

We have been coming to Da Giorgio for years. Often. Not only is the food amazing, but so are the waiters. They always greet you with a wide smile, remember what wine you drink, and what dishes you had the last time. How disappointing was it for us to come last night (9/1/2022) and not to have a table available after we had reserved one. OK. It happens. But the Matradee was so ungracious, and so non accommodating, and so not nice, and so not smiling about it. He gave us the impression like we did something wrong. He made us feel awful. A friend of mine from Arthur Avenue referred me to this restaurant that honestly I had heard about but was not too intrigued about. My own prejudices of "strip mall" restaurant's made me miss out on this exquisite gem for almost 10 years! Owned by Executive Chef Giorgio Giacinto, a competitor on the show "Chopped" is a master chef of Calabrian cuisine who grew up in the industry and also studied his art in Milano, Italy! His passion for food is evident in every delicious morsel of food he serves his guest! Now Giorgio may be the star in the kitchen but the star in the front is the very warm, quirky and personable waiter "Tony", who has been in the biz for many moons! From the moment you walk in he makes you feel like family and takes care of you with impeccable service and amusing banter. The way he explained the specials of the day, my mouth started watering! The restaurant is very warm and inviting and has a dreamy, whimsical and romantic decor making you feel like you have been swept away to a small town in Calabria. The only thing that was missing was soft music! The menu is a smaller array of Italian cuisine which I prefer, since you know all will be fresh! They also have daily specials and a respectable wine list. Immediately we were served hot baked rolls right out of the oven with a nice eggplant compote. We started with appetizers of imported burrata that was so fresh and creamy accented with an array of Brûlée grape tomatoes, nuts, basil and garnished with beets. The other app of baked imported ricotta finished with sea salt and pepper had a tiny pool of puréed honey served with Italian toast bites was just spectacular! I chose a favorite of mine which was one of the specials, the gently fried stuffed zucchini flowers which is such a delicacy! Served up with a refreshing side of salad and grape tomatoes. The dishes came out quickly and we were onto our entrees which at this point, I was very excited about after such a superb beginning! The Lasagna Calabrese was a luscious and unique version with sheets of homemade pasta, tiny meatballs in every bite, rich ricotta cheese, prosciutto crudo and Caciocavallo cheese! Simply sensational! I picked one of the special entrees of the day which was so satisfying and delicious! My Orecchiette, broccoli and sausage was baked and served in an iron skillet with a superb cheese and bread crumb topping. This dish will be in my dreams for awhile! How do you top a feast like this? With freshly stuffed cannoli of course! We were honored to meet Chef Giorgio who made his rounds to all his guests with his warm and down to earth welcome. We assured chef that he will be seeing us many more times in the future! This restaurant has ample parking. You must make reservations on the weekends since it fills up quickly, it does not have full bar only wine and beer and kids are very welcome and Tony assures me that they can make smaller portions for them since there is no children's menu. This is a nice small trattoria located in Scarsdale. It's very cozy and it's decorated with a very strong Italian food with frescoes of the ceiling and beautiful wallpaper. The service was first grade and the waiter explain all the meals in great detail and everything came out hot and perfectly made to order. The chicken franchise was delicious and is eating only with a fork because it was so tender. True, authentic hospitality My girlfriend and I went here for the first time two weekends ago and had such a wonderful experience I have been compelled to leave my first review ever. It started with a small conversation we had with a woman picking up a take out order as we waited to be sat. She told us that she has been coming here for over 15 years and was so excited for us. We asked for her recommendations and she listed half the menu! And from the moment we sat down I understood her excitement. The wait staff were incredibly thoughtful and simply terrific at their jobs. Their care was felt from the moment we sat down to by the time we left, I felt as though I was a regular. And the food was so good, had I had the worst dining experience of my life I would still frequent this establishment. The depth of flavor was masterful; presentation, beautiful; and so obviously made by someone who is passionate about what they do. I hate being that guy that goes against the majority of the 40+ reviews but I would consider Da Giorgio slightly better than your run of the mill Italian place. The ambiance is good - just what you would want. The place is very tightly packed, but that was OK with me. The service was excellent - very friendly and fast. At the start the waiter told us to not even look in the menus because we don't want to order anything in there and that the specials were what we really wanted. A bit weird and obnoxious especially because my wife was in the middle of going through the menu and he kept telling her to "close it, close it, you don't want any of that!" Burrata special was amazing. Osso buco special was OK - underwhelming. Missed that deep, rich flavor I wanted. Rigatoni alla Bolognese was good - definitely had better. Needs to be richer. Chicken Parm was very good - probably the best of all the dishes we shared Chocolate lava cake dessert and cannolis stole the show - amazing! With so many great Italian places in the area it is unlikely you'll find us back at Da Giorgio. read more

From the moment I called to reserve a table, I knew the experience was going to be bad. No one answered when I called (the restaurant was closed, go figure), so I left a message. I called back later when the restaurant was actually open . . . still no answer. When we arrived, the host was confused. "Are you sure it wasn't for 5 people? Would it happen to be at 6:45?" No, it wasn't! I called the restaurant for a reason! Anyway, they were apparently recovering from a large party, so the restaurant was empty. After 15 minutes, we were seated. Did the experience get better from there? Of course not! Our waiter said, and I quote, "We don't have any menus for you, so I'll just, uh, go get the specials." Um, WHAT? No menus??? You guys must be out of your minds! Eventually, we did get menus, although one of us got a wine list instead. We all ordered chicken parm and got fried calamari for the table. The food was good, except for the marinara (which came with everything we ordered). It was, not even joking, NEON ORANGE. And it tasted like Campbell's tomato soup. As a hardcore Italian, this made me nauseous. That said, the bread and caponata were very good. The bread was hot and the caponata tasted fresh. I'm debating whether I should return--maybe they just had a bad day. I'll avoid their dishes with red sauce next time. read more

Da Giorgio is tucked away in a nondescript strip mall. You forget this once you walk inside. The restaurant is long and narrow, so it's easy to imagine that it is in a brownstone. The decor is cozy, with a faux pressed tin ceiling. We were served excellent bread and small dish of caponata after being seated. The wine list is inexpensive to moderate. Our waiter recommended a very nice bottle of Sicilian white wine for $30. The restaurant serves beer and wine only. The food was uniformly excellent. The meatball appetizer was very good. The mussels fra diavlo were awesome- the broth demanded a spoon. The salad was very good. The main courses were all great. I had a special of chicken scallopine with prosciutto, mozzarella and artichokes that was terrific. The stuffed veal breast special was excellent, as was the branzino. The side dishes were very good. We had a great plate of biscotti and cappuccino for desert. The prices are significantly less than those of restaurants of similar quality. The only thing that kept this restaurant from being 5 stars was the service. It wasn't a busy night, but it took 2 1/2 hours to get through dinner. I appreciate not being rushed in a restaurant, but 2 hours is plenty of time for a drink, conversation and 3 courses. I am looking forward to going back to Da Gorgio to work my way through the rest of the menu. read more

Owner and Executive Chef Giorgio Giacinto is a magician in the kitchen. He brings an authentic Calabrese style of cooking with some serious curveballs in the mix. From warm rolls and caponata to the homemade pastas, an extensive wine list, entrees and dessert, it's an all around high quality dining experience. My favorite wine on the list is the Cote Di Franze, Ciro which is a Calabrese wine that not many people know about. When I ordered the wine, Mikele (one of the waiters) came over and told me he knew the people that made the brand. It was a great discussion and to see his eyes light about the wine, made me admire his passion. He said he gets emotional when he talks about that wine, as he is a native of Cosenza. Having that conversation made me miss being in Calabria and it was a reminder of how hospitable the staff is in Da Giorgio. Chef Giorgio is quite a busy man in the kitchen as you can imagine, but when he has the time, he comes out to the tables and shakes hands with customers. That type of stuff really goes a long way and it's made me come back and feel valued as a customer when I'm dining in there. It provides a level of respect. Very Friendly staff and beautiful decor! The squid ink Spacatelle with breadcrumbs, crabmeat and jalapeños is a MUST try. The Nutella banana spring rolls and the tiramisu are heavenly. The delicate and creamy mascarpone in the Tiramisu is phenomenal. My favorite part about Da Giorgio, besides for the amazing food of course is the mural on the wall in the back part of the restaurant, and the mural is a walkway that appears to be in Italy with cobblestone steps and it's something maybe so simple to others but I appreciate something like that because it makes me feel as if I'm dining in Italy. It adds a great authentic element to the setting. This is by far my favorite restaurant in Westchester, because it's so unique, and there's no other place in the county where you can find this type of cuisine. It's absolutely off the charts, everything I've tasted melts in my mouth! Hats off to the wonderful Chef, I love everything about this restaurant and I'm forever grateful to have that type of fine dining located near my residence. It's an honor and a true pleasure! Incredible! Came here for our anniversary this week and had a fabulous culinary experience. The food is authentic not the "wedding/catering" style Italian food that you get just about everywhere in Westchester. Da Giorgio is a real deal Calabrese restaurant. We started with the burrata and ricotta/flatbread. The ricotta was unlike any I've EVER had. For dinner I had the penne eggplant and my wife had the filet of sole...heaven. The meal was paired perfectly with a Calabrese wine. Our host, Michele...the absolute BEST service we ever received. He knew everything. Listening to him was part of the experience. YOU MUST ask for him. Amazing experience 5 minutes from our house. Small intimate setting with limited tables so definitely make a reservation. No hidden secret here...this place is wonderful. I must say .... absolutely exquisite. The location is right in the shopping mall which gives you ample parking. The customer service / service is superb. The selections were outstanding and the food was amazing. From the salad, to the appetizers, and especially the entrees...... you could taste how fresh the ingredients were and the flavors were incredible. Service is very good and they do a great job of selling the amazing assortment of specials on any given night, though my only gripe would be that they neglect to mention the "special" (i.e., surprisingly high relative to the main menu, as in double the average) prices for them.
