Great experience, from start to finish. Because we were coming as a party of eight, we called ahead for reservations. We intentionally arrived early to have a drink at the bar. The bartender was friendly and accommodating. Once seated, we were quickly greeted by a very friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. She answered all of our questions, brought everything out correctly and quickly and was great throughout. There were several appetizers and dishes at our table. Everyone raved about their dishes. The house dressings were great. The fresh bread came with a house maid flavored butter. I ordered the Frutti Di Mare-the flavor was great and they didn't skimp on the seafood. Well my son chose this place and it didn't disappoint, we were in the parking lot when we called for available seating, and we were seated right away. The place was dimly lit, and you felt really good with the beautiful ambiance. The waitress greeted us and explained a few items on the menu, I had been craving spaghetti parm and it was delicious and the portion was huge it was enough for dinner for 2 days. I forgot what my son ordered but I did sample it and it was also good, and my Cherry Lemon drop was great. Overall this a a good experience and I will be going back to try something else read more

It's a decent Italian restaurant. Typical dining setup. They have a nice bar area and comfortable seating in the front. The outside has an incredible mural on the side... Thats what caught our attention to try our this place! The bread and butter (regular and red pepper olive oil butter) were really good. I love that you can choose a soup or salad with each entree. I got the French onion soup which honestly was SO GOOD! Might be one of my favorites locally. I think it's only in available in one size though - a cup. And the regular price as a la carte is like $8 which feels really steep for the portion size. Anyway, everyone at my table enjoyed their meal. The pasta flight was really good. That tortellini!!! The red sauce, which is usually what an Italian restaurant prides itself on, was pretty bland. My husband enjoyed his veal Marsala, the filet mignon was cooked perfectly. The biggest disappointment was my meal I think. I got the Neptune pasta which was advertised as lobster, shrimp and scallops in a sherry sauce with linguine. Please do not be fooled into this dish. They do not serve lobster at all, they serve langoustines. Which is a very different flavor and should be a different price point. Plus with that sherry sauce, a different noodle...like a parpadelle, would have worked better with the dish. It just wasn't my favorite. I was excited to try this restaurant out but I feel like my dining experience lacked a little something. My friend and I came on a Thursday evening and there was no wait. On Thursday nights, they have flight night where you get little portions so you can try each option. They had wine flights, pasta flights, and cannoli flights. I didn't care for any of the flavors they offered so I just ordered the chicken parm. With my chicken parm, I got a side of soup. It was a chicken pesto soup with rice. This was probably my favorite thing I ate that night so that was a bummer. My chicken parm was a little soggy, the chicken was not crispy. I also felt that the sauce was a little bland. The cannoli was also okay and was definitely not worth $8. I've had better at Wegmans. Unfortunately, I would not return. read more

Very nice dinner to celebrate my families June birthdays. Started off with drinks at the bar. Lemon drop martini, old fashioned and wine was had. They were very accommodating and let us linger past our reservation time. Once seated we had a leisurely meal, not rushed. We were well attended to. The table had appetizers, soups, salads,entrees and of course desserts! From lasagna, eggplant parmesan and chicken alfredo, no complaints! Portions were generous the bread basket hot, served with an olive type butter. Yum! Desserts- cannoli cake, chocolate cake and creme Brule were also good. Slow service. Was there for my brother's birthday and it was just an okay experience. They did let us bring his cake in which was nice. The food was just okay - and it wasn't piping hot when it got to our table. We ordered and then it was a full ten minutes before we were told they were out of the dish my husband ordered. Then, it took a good 20 to 25 minutes to get our food. My brother's steak was delivered rare and he ordered medium rare. Also the music is awful. They need to change it to something more soothing. And it was cold - I even said that I was chilly and nothing was really done. Not sure I'd go back. read more

Omg did you see the very burnt onions on the Sicilian steak a manager should be fired for sending out crap like that . And the carmello pasta must be a signature dish they should look at the pics very inconsistent and just cheap looking and that nep seafood pasta wow garbage on a plate tiny fake bay scallops and the smallest of shrimp . I'm sure they don't tell you on the menu that before you pay $20 plus for that crap. Where did all the good Italian restaurants go that sold a decent meal. Had dinner here with a friend last week. Sat at the bar and watched the Purdue Final 4 game ... great atmosphere. Can't remember the bartender's name, but he was friendly, engaging, helpful. I had the braciole; it's hard to find a good one anywhere, and this was fairly decent. A bit too dry for my taste, but it's a hard thing. Aimee had the gnocchi; this was absolutely divine. This is the "good stuff" and you'll taste the difference. Lots of great Italian restaurants for us Buffalonians to choose from. I've never tried Carmine's somehow. So glad I did! Fish fry was ordered to go. Beer battered haddock was seasoned well, really tasty and crispy. Wow! I shy away from fried fish as I don't enjoy the oily, soggy batter if it's not eaten right away. This was not the case. It came with 2 sides- coleslaw and a pasta salad, bread. The baked haddock Italiano was also delicious. Came with a side of pasta with marinara sauce and a salad plus bread. I think you can find less expensive fish fries, however I felt justified paying a bit more. Quality food. Delicious. Around $14 plus per dinner with tax. read more

My absolute favorite Italian restaurant in the Buffalo area. I've been going regularly for years, going back to their original location. When they opened up again few years ago, I was glad to find the same great menu, same great service and same great food. I still like to go here often, but I'm not quite as regular as I used to be, as they are only open for dinner, and my work schedule has me in be in the late afternoon and evening most of the time. My most recent visit was a special night out, and was fairly bittersweet... my Mom and I (my Mom also loved the restaurant) went back in the Summer and had a great time and had planned to go back on what was my Grandpa's birthday to celebrate his and Granda's memory (they both loved Carmine's as well). Unfortunately, my Mom passed away fairly unexpectedly, and the remembrance dinner was a solo venture honoring the memory of three. Started with the side salad that came with the entrée, with the house parmesan peppercorn dressing, and the mix greens, tomato, cucumber, carrots, red onions and homemade croutons is a cut above the typical side salad at most Italian restaurants. My entrée on this visit was the Tortellini à la Carmine... cheese tortellini with alfredo sauce, spinach, artichoke, and prosciutto... spectacularly delicious as always, and one of my regular go to dishes when I dine here, and quite filling. Because it was a special occasion, I also decided to have desert this time, and I got the tiramisu cupcakes... an interesting variation on the classic desert, making it a bit fluffier and lighter in the process. First time having it, and would love to have it again... if I have the room for it. read more

Food was disgusting. An embarrassment to Italian cuisine. Family of 4 and not one meal or appetizer was good quality and should have never been served. I ordered the filet mignon over risotto. 20 minutes later waiter returns to inform that they "ran out of filet mignon" and I can choose something else or wait for the meat to thaw. The meatball and caprese flat bread appetizer were no better. Mush on bread. Meatballs were barely visible. Minced. The whole thing looked like it was frozen then thrown in an oven. The caprese flat bread had what seemed like a clump of American cheese with a sprinkle of balsamic vinegar. The Mexican corn soup (that's right, Mexican corn soup on an Italian menu, smh) was clearly premade and poured from a bag or can. My daughters tortellini was in a white soupy mess. None of this food looked freshly made at the restaurant. It all looked like it was picked up from the frozen food section at a supermarket. In the end we spent $130 + $30 tip for 3 meals and 2 apps, (I refused to order anything else to replace the frozen steak). This place was way overpriced for the shlop they served. The restaurant itself was very plain. Looked like a cafeteria in a basement of a building. Tables were too small for the amount of people sitting at them. Not many people were at the restaurant. Two other tables were occupied on a Thursday evening at 7. Not sure how this place has received awards or 5 star reviews. Wondering if they are all fake reviews. read more

There were four of us each ordering a different dish. We all were very happy with the quality, tastiness and quantity of food - speaking of quantity, three of us needed large take out boxes to cart our leftovers home. The Veal Piccata was tasty, tender and served with a side order of linguini was more than enough for tomorrow's dinner. The Arancini, ordered as an entree was just right with a side Caesar. While the two of us who used the Create Your Own Combo and ordered Penne with Marinara and mushrooms (the sautéed mushrooms were a fresh and tender addition), and linguini with Alfredo sauce which was creamy without being too thick, definitely had enough for at least one other meal. We topped off our dinner by sharing an order of Spumoni so large and beautifully presented that it was the perfect topper for our delicious meal. Each entree came with a choice of salad or soup, and a basket of fresh Italian bread. We all chose a salad which was fresh and crisp, and enjoyed the bread that came with butter and a tasty tapenade. The service was spot on and the wait for our orders was reasonable. Our only complaint, and its a small one, is that we would have preferred not to have the party next to us seated at a table so close that a gentleman's story was loud enough to drown out our voices and hear his story clearly ... but I suppose that happens anywhere even at Carmines! This was our first time being out in a while with everything going on. The restaurant staff were all wearing masks and each table had hand sanitizer. We ordered the frutti di mare and the chicken Bryan. OMG everything was amazing. The pasta had a ton of seafood, they did not skimp out at all. The sauce had an amazing flavor with the perfect spice (I opted for medium). I have been thinking about that dish since we went there and almost went back the next day to get take out, it was that good! My boyfriend ordered the chicken Bryan and loved it. The chicken was tender, juicy and topped perfectly with goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes. Service was great, friendly and professional. We will definitely be back soon. We went to Carmine's on transit rd in Williamsville. Started with salad with house dressing which was really good creamy garlic. My wife had the chicken piccata that did not disappoint. She thought flavors were there but maybe the artichoke was a little much. I had the seafood Neptune that was good, but the lobster were langoustines, a lobster cousin. The sauce was really good but the pasta was boxed linguine. Fresh pasta would have made it better. Overall, we enjoyed the meals. I would recommend going there. read more

We had a dinner to celebrate a family members retirement. Atmosphere was ok ( loved the lounge). Service was good, food was enjoyed by all - that is until dessert. The tiramisu is NOT tiramisu. It was a vanilla cupcake with whipped cream and Hershey's chocolate sauce. Either describe it in the menu or explain that it is a cupcake. I probably won't go back because this was a major faux pas in my book for an Italian restaurant. read more

Parking is horrible, pretty much nonexistent for a restaurant, managed to find a spot in the dark back lot near the dumpster. I don't know if it is still there but management had a sign, with something like, don't park in the hotel lot, they aren't nice people!!! Very childish and unprofessional for a business. I saw the large signs stating no parking except for the hotel and the code cited when I drove out to leave. Won't be back, clearly the owner didn't think out their choice for a business location with little parking. The food wasn't impressive, just over priced. When I return to Buffalo on my next business trip and I want pasta, I have less expensive and professional host choices for pasta throughout Buffalo. read more

Carmine's holds a special place after spending several occasions in the original building across the Olive Garden before it burned down. Not anymore. If you're looking for that version of Carmine's, you're not going to find it now. Placed a reservation in person two weeks ahead of time for 6 requesting the big round table at 4:30pm. At the time, there were no other reservations in the book near 4:30pm until 6pm. There's no hostess at the stand when we walk in at 4:30pm the day of. We tell the bartender we have the reservation for 4:30pm at the big round table. The bartender looks frenzied walking up to the stand sorting through a disorganized paper mess of notes. At the same time the hostess appears to be escorting an elderly group of folks to the table we requested from the back and had them sit there. The bartender moved back to the bar whispering to a server like they knew what was happening. We just got bumped. It looks like they knew we had that reservation. There were only two other tables full at the time. The place opens at 4pm. We never got the real truth. They said they were showing this group around and they had a reservation. Did they not look at the book... who books a specific reservation on top of one another that's the same at the same time. We were clearly upset. Apparently, after we were seated, two in our party we were with were standing in the lobby still. The hostess walked over to them and said "these people!" What did we do wrong? This was off to a bad start and it later ended with a bad finish. During the evening, the entire waiting staff gave us stares from the distance and also the cold shoulder like we were some food snobs. We were asked if we were ready to order but we weren't. About ten minutes go by and nothing before the order was placed. The appetizers come out within five minutes. The bread and butter didn't come out yet. The peppers appetizer was mediocre. The artichoke fritters was fine. Bread and butter finally came out with our salads, which was unusually behind. They had to go back to the kitchen each time to deliver the salads like they were staggered. The olive butter for the bread was terrible. We enjoyed the house salad dressing so that was a positive but it was the last positive note there. When we received our entrees, one food item was returned because the side pasta requested was wrong. A meatball ordered was missing. Some of us requested extra sauce on the side and we just got sauce in one big cup instead. Someone in our party did not like the sauce and one of the toddlers also said the sauce smells weird. We figured out we all had different sauces on the table. The odd sauce out was their Carmine's Red which has red wine in it. This was the sauce on the kid's menu items and the chicken parm. The kids' items were returned to feature the marinara which was fine. In the side extra sauce, it was the marinara. This was quite confusing while we ate. The meatballs really had no flavor and seemed dried out. The chicken was like rubber with burnt edges. Almost every table was packed. There were plenty of people waiting in the lobby. You would think they would have wanted to push us out of the table quick. We got our check but our server had disappeared to the point we discussed having to drive back home in separate cars from when we arrived in. This was a discussion that shouldn't even be had. At the time we got up to ask the bartender, the waitress finally came around and took our credit cards. It was probably fifteen minutes of hanging around. We got the checks back but there was no utensil given to sign them with. We got out of our chairs to ask for a pen and for the first time, we left no tip at a dinner. We almost wanted to tell the people waiting in the lobby to go elsewhere. There is no excuse for their behavior and forgetfulness. I'm glad they moved to a new location because the last one was terrible. I like their food but their atmosphere needs work. Very cold. I ordered a whiskey sour that was barely drinkable. The food we ordered was delicious but the creme brulee' was a disappointment. It was served cold with the top of it barely touched by a torch. Wouldn't recommend it. I hope they are able to make a few changes so they can be what they used to be. Really miss the "old" Carmines that burned down. read more

Starting off, the restaurant is in a bad location. Specifically the parking lot is not designed for a restaurant. Once the spots fill up in the front, its tricky to get to the bigger parking area. You either have to make a U-turn or try to squeeze between cars to get to the larger parking area. Expect to wait 30 minutes or more if you don't make a reservation in advance. One of the severs there sounds like she has a speech impediment. When the food eventually came out it was delightful. They've been around forever but there's a several aspects of the restaurant that they really need to improve. read more

I would also add that the service was atrocious. Water bottles and wine bottles sat empty for way too long- when our server finally checked in with our big party and we asked for more water and wine, she acted put out to be doing her job. Sue returned with water and slammed it down on the table- sue wasn't rude as much as she was just unpolished. For the price of the food, one might expect the servers to possess a touch more class and grace. She also didn't know the menu- Braciole always has egg in it, yeah? This braciole was a joke. The Beans and greens had about a tablespoon of broth. Just an overall bad experience. I would not recommend. read more

New location for this wonderful restaurant! Much smaller than the original but food just as delicious! They do not take reservations since they only have 14 tables but we were seated within 10 minutes and waited on and served quickly - did not feel rushed and the food was wonderful! Had their penne with vodka sauce years ago and it was amazing. Flavorful, and creamy, with chunks of tomatoes and prosciutto. Went out of my way on my way back to Rochester from Canada to stop and get some to go, I regret that decision. First off, the price is $17.99, which is ridiculous to pay for even outstanding pasta. Second, there was barely any sauce on the dish, a few small pieces of tomatoes, and some small pieces of hard prosciutto, some charred. Extremely disappointing. read more

I loved Carmine's growing up and was so sad when their old location burned down. When it came time for my friends and family to plan my bridal shower, they reached out to Carmine's to see what possibilities were available with their new location. Since they don't open for lunch on Saturdays, we were able to "take over" the space and host the event on site. The food was AMAZING, the staff was so flexible with planning/great with answering all of our questions, and the day of coordination rocked. They let my family in early (event started at 11:30, they were able to get in at 10:30) to decorate and get everything set. We had just over 30 people in attendance, and were able to take the leftovers from the buffet home. If you are looking for a special event space, definitely reach out to them to see what is possible outside of normal business hours. 10/10!!!! read more

Out with my a girlfriend for dinner. We enjoyed the old location of Carmine's so we decided to go to the new location. The venue is smaller but the decor is more modern. My friend likes Carmine's red sauce and said it tasted the same. I had the lasagna which was a large portion. Took the leftovers home. My husband enjoyed them later that evening. Just recently was in town for the second time since the opening of the new Carmines location. For the first my first visit Carmines was a Perfect place to bring the whole family and be treated like family. Kelly, the owner made my whole family feel welcome and the food was amazing and reminded myself going as a regular to the original. The palermo peppers were amazing and I had to go with the famous chicken piccatta. My family likes to share so I got to taste a few other dishes. The veal parmesan was very tender as it should be and the pink vodka sauce was amazing. And of course the carmines red was just as good as I remember. My second visit I came in solo and sat at the bar. Joel the bartender not only was entertaining but made me the perfect martini after a long day of travel. I then ordered on of my favorite Italian dishes which is eggplant parmesan. The family atmosphere, friendly staff and comfort food made me feel great to be back home and can not wait to visit again.
