I had the Ono Omelette and the plain French toast. Excellent pairing. Both were rather large, but I enjoyed every bite. They made my omelette wrong but my server was quick to remake it correctly once I brought it up and apologized for the error. Kind people, great food, good location. Just had breakfast here! I had the Loco Moco, and the husband had the eggs Benedict. Both were EXCELLENT. Topped mine off with some mini pancakes. Ate it all so fast that I forgot to take photos. In a town full of tourist traps, this is a great local spot. You could tell when you walked in that the place had a loyal local clientelle. The owner was very personable and would come by your table and chat. He took pride in his food and the taste backed that up. We had breakfast there one day and came back for burgers the next. A very friendly family run business. Located near the Lihue bowling alley, not easily seen from the road. Very popular among locals. Service good, efficient and personable! I had the roast pork...ONO!! (sorry I was so engrossed in eating that I forgot to take a picture). My husband had an "Ono Omelet"...only problem for him that it was so chocked full of filling that he lost the egg taste...next time he will custom make it with few ingredients. We will be back again! We visited around 10 on a Sunday morning. People were queued outside waiting to be seated; we were told it would be a 20-30min wait but ended up being seated in about 10 minutes instead. The staff is very friendly and attentive. My wife ordered the steak and eggs and her word choice: "Heavenly". The cook makes her own salt to season the steak, which was cooked perfectly & had almost no fat/gristle on it. Our daughter ordered the local breakfast plate with SPAM, loco moco-style with gravy on the side. She absolutely loved it. My French toast, eggs and spam were delicious as well. Worst customer service I've ever had. Waitresses were very nice. I ordered eggs Benedict and hash browns. My wife ordered hash browns. After a few minutes her hash browns came out, slightly warm. We waited for my food and my wife ate her hash browns. After about 10 minutes I asked about my food, very quietly and politely so as not to cause friction. The owner immediately freaked out and yelled at me. Told me I was bothering him by asking. Told me I kept getting on his case. I asked once. One time. He said my wife's food was already prepared so she got it before me. Then he told us we could leave if we didn't like it and kept yelling at us! Meanwhile I had been sitting there shocked and I finally broke and told him to keep his food and where he could put it. My wife paid for her food. He continued yelling as we left. Not sure what the deal is with this place. Some people seemed to get in and out quickly but we spent almost 2.5 hours waiting to get in and served. They told us a 30 min wait to get in but it was closer to an hour (which I understand can be tricky because of Covid). What bugged me more was that after we got in they pretty much ignored us. We watched SEVERAL other parties who arrived after us come and go and watched endless bags of takeout go out the door. We asked about our food and the server just looked at us and walked away. Maybe they don't like tourists because the locals seemed to be taken care of much more quickly than we were. Finally the place was almost empty and we asked the owner about our food and she went back and told us they were finally making it. The French toast we ordered was good but the eggs in the eggs Benedict were barely cooked--the whites were still clear (and no, that's not how they're supposed to be; poached doesn't equal raw). Totally NOT worth the 2.5 hour wait. I won't ever go back, but feel free to take your chances. read more

The food at this place was really good.....no denying that. My bumbucha BLT was hands down one of the best I have ever had.....everyone enjoyed the food. What exactly is my complaint??? Bad service.....our waitress wasn't at all friendly.....no one ever came by to see how we were doing....we had to ask for more water. Also when the waitress took our order she asked if we wanted separate checks!!! We never asked....we said whatever would be easier and she said it was up to us!!! Had she explained your policy for large parties we would have easily went with it. And who cares if we changed our order??? Like you said ...it was changed BEFORE it got to the kitchen so why was that such as issue? As far as the mix up with the brown rice your cook being unaware that it was ordered was not our fault.....my friends plate came with one scoop of white and I scoop of fried rice....where did that order come from? Your waitress didnt get the order right for your cook but she knew to inform my friend there would be an extra charge for brown rice. And as far as the Hollendaise sauce.....you running our is an indication that it must be delicious.....my friends selected your eggs Benedict based on the great reviews on this site....if she was told from the beginning that you were out perhaps that would have been helpful....don't you think. This was our first time visiting your island and your restaurant was our first stop off the plane. We sure did notice a few tourist having a good time....laughing with you guys and taking pictures. Just because we didnt look like typical tourist does not mean we weren't. I think this site is great and I use it all the time ...I go out of my way to give great reviews because I believe in and support local businesses. In the few times I have left a truthful not so great review the responses I got started off with an apology....I have NEVER seen your type of response .....even if my complaints weren't warranted the fact that I would think you would want to know I had an issue with my experience at your establishment. Your response to my review was unprofessional.....all you had were excuses.....a simple "I'm sorry you felt that way" would have been a great way to start....it does acknowledge any wrong doing on your part but it does make your customer know you cared a little about what they experienced. "What exactly is your complaint?" and "Good luck finding Hollendaise sauce after 12 o'clock" and "You changed your mind 3 times before the order got to the kitchen" was harsh and unprofessional. Wish I had discovered this restaurant earlier on my vacation in Kauai. The wife and I were there Sunday morning for breakfast but ended up having ox tail stew and fried saimin after talking to the owner, Harry. We took his advice and were glad that we did. Tasty but extremely expensive - for example, eggs benedict was almost $15, and did not include any sides.

It looked good. We drove all the way out and planned our day around eating here for brunch. We got there during their posted business hours and they just weren't there. Tried calling. Said they were open online and on their message. Still no answer. So disappointed that we wasted our day on an unreliable business. Stopped In for breakfast got the special that came with pancakes, stuffed French toast and a loco moco $20.00 also got the chicken and waffles $10. The French toasts lacked sweetness and the pancakes were a little too thick, but PRESENTATION gets A++. The loco moco Pattie was authentically delicious as was the gravy flavor but the flour wasn't completely cooked out because it was too thick and had a raw flower back note, the rice was also mushy. Great hole in the wall local spot. It had a nice relaxing small diner atmosphere for a morning breakfast. Our waitress was a really sweet lady, felt like being served by my mom. Got the Chicken and waffles they were fine nothing really special about them. The chicken was moist but tasted like the same chicken you could get at a fast food drive thru. Service was not good at all. If you go by yourself expect to be treated less than. They seemed upset I didn't have my order ready as soon as I sat down, didn't even try to offer me anything just gave me a look and left.
