So I have had a lot of slow service here. It's a hit or miss. The first time I went I barely got check on and was ignored for 20 minutes. The second time, same thing. The 3rd time I had better service. But I've had crappy service before and it's frustrating. read more

I have eaten here in the past, and it was always fairly good. Today's meal was horrible. Chicken fried steak and eggs. The country potatoes were chunks of potato right out of the deep fryer with funky oil taste....and no onions to mask it ...served slightly warm with grease dripping on every bite...even the ketchup could not hide the flavor. The eggs were over done...the steak was very thin, over cooked and the watery white gravy was horrible. I told the waiter that I could not find ANYTHING good on the plate. Then at checkout, I requested a refund, and the woman/owner gave me grief....asked me what was wrong with the food, I told her the same thing I told the waiter....she was rude....then nice when an older couple came in, then rude after they were seated. She still made me pay for part of the meal, because I tasted it. She said I should have requested a new meal...I told her that the first plate ruined my appetite. I did not eat very much of the meal....a few bites were far too many...I WILL NOT EAT AT DAD'S EVER AGAIN....unless I loose a bet. read more

We ordered meat loaf (for hubby) and chicken Caesar salad. We were served quickly but both of us were disappointed in our meals. Gravy was good but the meat was crumbly. Hubby says it was missing something. It had a heavy tomato flavor to it. My salad had dry chicken with no flavor at all. Hardly any dressing so I asked for more. The romain was in long pieces which meant I had to cut it up. The cheese bread was good but hard to bite into. Very disappointed. read more

My family ate their and thought the staff was real good. Food was good too. Until the next morning when I woke up with food poisoning! Both my mother and I ate the same thing and we both were sick. I called and talked to the manager to let them know so nobody else would get sick. He took my name and number and said he would tell the owner and give me a call back. Well it's been a couple weeks and no call. Shows me that they didn't even care that one of their customers were sick from their food. My family and I will never go there again. My favorite breakfast place by far. I've tried so much from their menu, and everything was delicious. The staff is awesome! Servers are supper friendly and quick. Never waited too long for my food, even on busy weekends! If you want a yummy meal you should def go to Dad's Cafe! read more

Our first time to have dinner at Dads Cafe. Its a cold night and decided to go in and order a take out. We were greeted by a friendly Hostess. We ordered the Chix Marsala, Chix Piccata and the Pot Roast. Everything was delicious. If you don't feel like cooking, give this place a try. The owner was also there and she was very friendly. We found this restaurant after picking cherries at local orchards during the 2017 season and were pleasantly surprised. In January of this year we thought we'd go on a road trip one Sunday and eat here for lunch. Service was less than stellar this time, unfortunately. Our waitress kept disappearing. Our wait for our food seemed to be taking a while. Finally, I flagged down another waitress and she said that our previous one was going on a break. Our food came shortly after that and it was good. We have been coming to Dad's cafe for 3 years now and have always had great meals, so i was especially disappointed last night when i tried their "Authentic Mexican food" They used canned re fried beans and the Rice was bland, the chili verde was good but there were maybe 10 chunks of meat at best, and my Tortillas came out hard. Sorry Dad, we love your breakfast and sandwich selection but your "Mexican" cuisine needs much work. I'm still giving you 4 stars because we really like you, but i will not be ordering Mexican food from you again. read more

My husband and I are from the east Bay Area and our friends from San Francisco. We choose Dan's for breakfast. I had the California omelet. It was the best omelet I have ever had! Everyone else enjoyed their meals too. The staff all worked together to meet our needs. The coffee was great! Santa was even there! The place needs a little update, but overall a great place. Was weary of this place because its changed hands a few times after originally being Brooks Ranch (dating myself). Went on Sunday after church for brunch and was pleasantly surprised! We were a party of 8 and they immediately put a couple tables together for us. Service was helpful and friendly. They put the world cup finals on the tv for us. Good size portions for the price. The meatloaf sandwich was DELICIOUS! Kids' burgers were good quality, a step up from your typical children's menu stuff. Will return. read more

We are a very picky family when it comes to eating out but DAD's is our favorite by far. We go there at least twice a week. The menu is very large with all kinds of different food choices so there is something for each of us no matter what type of food we are craving. The employees are very very nice and helpful as well. This place is super dirty, cobwebs on fake flowers and hanging off the light fixtures. Water stains on the ceiling tiles. Really dusty. And the carpets you can see the stains and filth. read more

This place has been open for about 6 days. Hostesses are on the green side. They need to acknowledge everyone that walks in the door. They seem like they feel uncomfortable greeting the public that walks in. If you want your new patrons to come back to a family diner, make them feel at home and appreciated. I will visit this establishment one more time because our waiter Jared was kind, efficient and very welcoming. Better hold on to that waiter. The food was good, I had the cheeseburger and fries. A bit skimpy on the fries.They were spread around the plate to make it look ample and full. My pops had the BLT, with skimpy fries, he enjoyed it. Usually really love it here. They have great food but the service is terrible. They take forever to seat people, it seems like they skip people who have been waiting and seat whoever came in more recently. An elderly woman that came in before me was seated after me and after a party of 7 that came in 15minutes after I did. It took about 15 minutes to even be asked what we would like to drink. I had to ask for silverware for the table. We received our drinks and there was no sugar on the table so I asked for it. The server walked by twice and didn't have it. I got up to ask for the holder to be filled because my coffee was already cold from waiting. A man behind the bar asked what I needed and I told him sugar. He took the holder and the waitress said she got it. He then threw the holder down on the counter and rolled his eyes. How rude, I felt so disrespected. The whole situation could've been handled way better, I've been here on super busy days before and was always treated with respect and had wonderful service. read more

We've eaten at Dads for many years. Breakfasts lunches and dinners. One of the few family style eateries in downtown. Past meals have been hot and fresh, but today's breakfast was quite disappointing. My omelet good however the hash browns were on the burnt side. When I returned them for fresh ones the replacements were almost cooked on the outside and raw in the middle. My wife's waffle was limp and cool (wouldn't even melt the butter) and apparently not fresh from the iron. Ham was cold. Her first cup of coffee was tepid as well was my second cup of decaf. It will be a while before we revisit Dads, if ever. read more

My husband and I went to breakfast during the week. We were greeted at the door by a happy , smiling hostess. Waitress was very experienced and had a wonderful personality. Our breakfast came in a timely manner and was very good! The restaurant is under new ownership . He has a restaurant in Antioch as well that we have eaten at and always had a good meal. The restaurant is very clean inside and they are working hard to make your visit to the restaurant a good experience. I've tried Dads Brentwood three times now. The food and the pricing are both good. Service is inconsistent - depending on your server. Service can either be really professional or downright amateur hour. On my second visit, I dined at dinner. My soup was served after the entrée. The soup cup rested on a folded-up napkin. Surely doilies are much less expensive and more aesthetically appealing. Overall, this is a nice restaurant, with good food and good pricing. The atmosphere is average-typical, but a major negative to the atmosphere is the music selection. Mostly titles from the 50s and 60s. If I wanted a "50s diner" experience, I'd go to Mel's Diner - which Brentwood already has - and where I never go because I'm not into a "50s diner" experience. Surely the owner must know that the atmosphere is essential to the dining experience as well as presentation of the food, quality and taste of food, and service. read more

I was craving some breakfast for dinner. I wanted some pancakes, eggs and hash browns. It's a small dimly lit place. We were greeted quickly. Orders taken immediately. The food came in a reasonable amount of time. I had my eggs over easy and they were perfect. Nice and firm white part and a nice runny yolk to mix into my hash browns. The pancakes were perfectly cooked and fluffy. All was good. My only complaint and I could be wrong but I suspect the hash browns may have been frozen. read more
