Had an awesome breakfast at Dad's Diner while visiting WA. The biscuits, bacon, eggs and home fries were all excellent - perfectly cooked, flavorful, YUM! That said, I don't write reviews often and might not have been compelled to leave one for Dad's had the service not been totally STELLAR, which it was: We stopped at Dad's for breakfast on our way to the ferry, thinking we could squeeze in a sit-down meal before departure. Due to the time crunch, we ended up asking if we could get our order 'to go' and a server graciously packed up our already-plated food. He then offered us some housemade hot sauce and jam - yes please! - and put them in little containers to add to our bag. But here's the kicker: as we headed out, I asked him for some s&p thinking that he'd give me a few of those paper packets..... Well, they didn't have any of those, so the server took out another two little plastic containers and proceeded to use the s&p shakers from the counter to fill them up individually. We are visiting Anacortes for the weekend from Tacoma and decided to try the highly recommended breakfast spot to grab some food to go for a picnic by the water. The service when we got there was fantastic. Very impressed and got excited for the biscuits and gravy and pancake we ordered!! Unfortunately we were disappointed to bite into our pancakes and they weren't cooked all the way and mushy and no plastic ware to eat our food... see pic below read more

The kids and I are trying different burgers in the different towns we visit. Anacortes was on the list for today. We asked a friend and they said you should go to Dad's Diner. It did not disappoint! The burger was hot and the meat amazing. The cheese was nicely melted. All veggies were fresh and the bun well selected. We also got some fries and loved the flavor. Their bacon on the burger was top shelf. The kids loved the burger and is very highly rated on our quest. The food was great, but the service is something I will never forget. I assume it was the owner, but I was greeted with a smile and a lot of enthusiasm. He took my order and then asked if I wanted a cup of coffee while I waited. I said no because my kids were in the car. He said no problem and I will bring the food to you. It was just a pleasant experience during this trying time. It's always nice to find a gem like this place when you're traveling. My wife and I stopped by this restaurant on our way to the Ferry terminal and the food was wonderful. She had a burger (she described it as one the best she's ever had) and I had corned beef hash which was excellent. Everything is made to order and you can totally tell. I thought it was so good, I took two friends back the next day and they confirmed that I wasn't just hungry...the food is legit. This time I had the patty melt and was very pleased. This place was a great surprise. If this was in my hometown seattle, I would eat here every weekend. This place would mop the floor with Portage Bay. Huge flavors on everything, really bought out meats, no dish or even ingredient on this menu is phoned in. This is easily one of my favorite breakfast spots I've ever visited! I knew it would be immediately when I sat down and stared dumbfounded at the menu. I usually have a hard time choosing a dish, but this was a new beast! I ended up with the Dad's plate w/ the biscuit and house chorizo, and it was a seriously good choice! However, we waited over an hour for our food. Yes, it was a sunday morning but there were often times when a few tables were empty.... Wish we had known to be patient. Have been at this diner at least once a year, usually bring family visitors or close friends to experience what my wife and I did almost ten years ago. Pretty decent food, although prices are up there. Sad to say that I won't be visiting Dad's anymore. Showed up at 1pm on a Wednesday (they close at 3pm) with my family, 14 total that could have been split up on separate tables to seat us all. But to my surprise this young girl with more middrift showing than clothing said she could NOT seat us due to the amount of people needing to still be seated, for which there weren't anyone waiting outside the restaurant. Seems surprising that they wouldn't have 3 or 4 tables that would open up within 2 hrs. Guess the 3pm close time is a GO-HOME for the employees, not an actual close of business. Subtract 1 repeat bulk customer from your annual profits and hopefully more that follow me against bad business practices. read more

Simply amazing! We first stopped here on our first sojourn to Canada! We came hungry and left happy. The jam.... the jam! I recommend arriving a little while before you're starving if you stop by during a popular time of day. The food is worth the wait, and they have a bar where you can eat and drink, or just wait for a table. There is also limited outdoor seating. Stop inside to let the staff know you're sitting outside, tho! I've had three great experiences here. The food is top notch! The menu changes regularly and is on the small side, but I've never had any issue choosing what to eat (even with extensive food allergies!). I like the staff. They keep it very friendly. Today our server forgot to put in our order, so our meals are free. That's totally how they roll - correct any mistakes that happen and keep it friendly. I dig it. Visited anacortes for the first time and came here for breakfast because I was craving corned beef for some reason lol! Looked up places that serves corned beef and Dad's diner popped up so of course we had to go. As soon we walked in, it was somewhat packed which I thought meant our food is gonna take over . I was wrong , food came out pretty fast . Our server made a mistake on my order, instead of corned beef he had put in brisket but omg! That brisket hash was delicious (I still got my corned beef tho) Our server(Gabriel) was awesome . All of his recommendations were on point! From the sauce to their cheese. Let me start with saying that my KIDS told me that I had to leave a review. After a cold, rainy soccer game, I brought two grumpy kids into Dad's Diner. Gabriel was like a warm, ray of happy sunshine and we took his recommendations (they are VERY GF friendly!) and smiles followed. The Dad's Fried Rice was a huge hit with my son and the Ham & Cheese (with insanely good jojos) made my daughter turn from a sour puss to all smiles. I had the Texas Philly and loved every bite. The service is prompt and they are eager to help you navigate through the multiple menu board items. I had the corned beef hash and eggs. The corned beef was a very generous portion of thick meaty hunks, and the potatos were crispy and tasty. It comes topped with horseradish crema and a fresh baked biscuit on the side, be sure to get some homemade raspberry jam to spread on it. Wow. My daughter had the biscuits and gravy, and while I didn't taste it, the dish looked (and smelled) amazing. When and if I make it up to Anacortes again, you can bet I'll eat here. read more

Ratings looked great so we went there 06/29/22. The three of us sat at the middle table for a long period of time. The waitress with the becoming nose ring came to pick up the towel left behind on the back corner of the table. Not a word. At least she responded when I gave a polite hello. Fantastic service and you can really taste the top notch quality ingredients. My only complaint is the hamburger....the meat quality is awesome but I really wish they provided traditional fixings (green lettuce, regularly sliced tomatoes, raw onions, pickles, etc). If so, it would be the best burger in town but the way they serve their hamburger now is sad. Salads and sandwiches are really great though. read more
