Love this place! The owner is a doll - he's very warm and friendly and has a great rapport with the customers. I go here frequently for work events, and they always do a great job. Donuts are delicious, as are the cream cheese croissants. Consecutive days I went to Dad's today I had their Cronut - both original and Chocolate - along with Boston Cream, Bavarian, and Blueberry. Unfortunately the Cronuts were awful. They tasted day old. I always call in ahead of time to make sure that they have those Boston Cream donuts and Cronuts, and I always get extra filling (extra charge... but worth it). Don't have it? Good everyday go-to donut shop. It also offers drinks, sandwiches, and more, but I have never availed myself of those offerings, so this review is only for the donuts. The cinnamon rolls (snails) are top notch. The Boston Cream and the iced cake with sprinkles are very good. Growing up my dad made it a tradition to bring home donuts every Friday after work so that we can have one for dessert that night, and one for breakfast the next morning. Now that I'm a 30 years old, I made my own tradition of having a donut at least 4 days out of the week, I know obsessed much? Yes! I still haven't met anyone who loves donuts as much I do. So let me get to the point. I had ate Donuts from Dad's donuts a few times from when my dad would bring a dozen home, however it has been a very long time and I had to try A donut from Dad's Donuts. I loved the display of donuts being behind the counter on a shelf similar to a boulangerie. After spending 10 Minutes trying to decide which donut I wanted, I finally went with a classic -old fashion chocolate and of course a cup of iced coffee. The donut was delicious and perfectly dense inside for an old fashion-my. Only dislike was that it wasn't crunchy enough on the outside as it should have been. I came by late Sunday a couple hours before they were closing and being that it was the end of the day I wasn't expecting to be wowed since the donuts were probably sitting out all day maybe longer. However, because of the reviews I was expecting a really good donut and I got that. I got the old fashion glazed and old fashion chocolate and the cake maple and chocolate cake/ chocolate frosting. Since it was my first time, I wanted to take the time to pick out the flavors, and it was boxed and ready to go when I got to the store. The man who served me was very kind and friendly, making small talk that made me feel like Burbank is truly like a small town. Warning - the donuts are very addictive. They're soft and airy, the coating is very generous (and a bit on the sugary side so I have to dust some of it off). It's hard to eat just one donut and not think about the next. Stop by here for breakfast before leaving Los Angeles and boy were we happy we did! The donuts here are so good. Their not greasy like you would find at other places. I know they also served boba tea, but it was the morning, and we didn't feel like it. I got the chocolate creme filled donut as well as a few of the chocolate cake donut holes and a few cronut holes with an ice coffee. My friend opt for a chocolate muffin along with the vanilla creme filled donut. We did split and get to try everything though. The chocolate creme filled donut was absolutely amazing! Probably one of the best donuts I ever will have in my life. The choclate cake donut holes were dense, and was covered in a layer of chocolate sprinkles you literally see no donut, they were good, but not my favorite. The cronut was pretty good. I thought it drench in frosting was a bit much for me, but i still enjoyed it. The muffin my friend got was pretty good. I only had a bite, but it didn't seem to be super moist, but it had good flavor. The whip creme filled donut was lighter than the chocolate one, and it was good, but i still prefer the chocolate. The asian owner and his son were working that day, and one other person in the back i believe. They are super friendly and get a lot of regulars here. While we sat and ate, there were plenty of people that strolled in and were greeted very warmly by the owner. A lot of the patrons affectionately call him "Dad" and he takes the time to greet them compliment them and just catch up with ones he hasn't seen in a while. The reason my rating is low is because of their "cronuts." Be forewarned. They ain't good. They look alright from the outside but are raw on the inside - my third time trying them and it's the same. If you've ever eaten one on the east coast you know what a cronut is supposed to be and these ain't it. The picture shows a lump of raw puff pastry scooped out from the center. We spend alot of money. Could we get the quality that starts out good .Purchase a new toaster one that toast whole bagel. They have nice bagel toaster at Walmart for 29.00 .
