It's a cute small sushi shop with authentic Japanese chefs. Service was great, sushi was fantastic, and we wished they had this back home in AZ! I can eat the salmon belly all day!

Before going in, I called the restaurant and Trinity answered. She was so kind and helpful, answering my questions about food allergy accommodations and reassuring me that they could take care of us. Trinity ended up being our server as well, and she was absolutely wonderful--sweet, attentive, and somehow managed everything flawlessly on her own without ever making us feel neglected. As for the food...wow. The fish truly melts in your mouth, and you can tell everything is incredibly fresh. My husband is gluten free, and they went above and beyond to make sure his meal was completely safe. The only downside is that it's a bit pricier than some other spots in town, but honestly, the quality and service make it worth

Solid place for quick lunch. They have lunch happy hour combo, good portion. Fresh and tasty. Went there during weekday lunch and they were not that busy. Will come back for dinner one day

Came in for dinner on Friday night on a whim since I was craving sushi and it wasn't too far. We were seated right away since there wasn't a line. The ambience was really cozy and the restaurant was decorated nicely but still felt casual enough. Service was a tad bit slow but there was only about 4 total staff I saw around so understandable. Our sushi came first and wow, the quality surprised me. I tried several different things like bluefin tuna, amberjack, yellowtail, scallops and salmon. Soooo good. The quality reminded me of going to omakase vs typical AYCE places. Every piece was really good! We got some other stuff like the karaage which was super crispy, udon tempura which was perfectly fried, and oysters which was ok. Overall, we really enjoyed the food and this may be our go to sushi place from now on!

Back again and still love it. Adorable Studio Ghibli art work theme throughout. The food is delicious. Service is perfectly attentive and welcoming.

Nice local sushi spot with fresh fish, lots of options from sashimi, bento boxes, udon, sushi rolls, etc. Everything is reasonably priced for the quality and all of the dishes I ordered were delicious. It wasn't too busy on a Tuesday night but I can imagine the weekend being busier since it's not a huge spot.

DAI Sushi has undoubtedly become one of my new favorite places to get sushi in Orange County. It's just that good! Everything is so reasonably priced considering it's seafood, and the quality of all the fish is to die for! I'm so incredibly grateful to my friend for introducing me to this place. My most recent visit to DAI Sushi was on a Thursday around lunchtime, and surprisingly, it was not very crowded. I think people are missing out on this hidden gem. The establishment is quite small and there aren't a ton of staff members, so I think it'd be an overwhelming experience if there were a line out the door for seating. FOOD: (5/5) Everything I've had here was mind-blowingly delicious, especially the nigiri. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the pieces of sushi/nigiri, but my favorites were definitely the bluefin tuna, miso black cod, salmon, and the Japanese scallop. I think I will be dreaming about the Japanese scallop sushi. Not pictured since I didn't get it during my most recent visit, but I also highly recommend the creamy mentaiko pasta. It's soooo tasty. I regret not getting it during my recent stop to DAI Sushi. SERVICE: (4.5/5) I will say that I think service can be pretty slow even when there aren't a lot of other patrons. It can take a hot minute to get your food, especially when compared to other, bigger sushi establishments. However, I believe the food is so worth it that I can't even really complain. All my interactions with staff were pleasant as well. Our server was super personable, attentive, and informative about the menu. TLDR// I will always be back when I'm in the area and craving sushi. This place is so underrated, and people who choose to skip on DAI Sushi are doing themselves a disservice. Yum! Yum! Yum!

Brought my sister here and she loved it! We ordered the mentaiko udon, Japanese scallop, Japanese amberjack, jalapeño yellowtail, squid, salmon, albacore, black miso cod & sea bream. Everything was absolutely delicious like always The sushi was so delicious, my sister's favorites were the jalapeño yellowtail, squid, black miso cod, Japanese scallop and amberjack. We ended up ordering another round of those nigiris The chef gave us a specialty hand roll on the house too! They said they were testing out some recipes to add onto their menu, so I hope they add it on because it was sooooo good... it was a hand roll with blue crab, ankimo, uni topped with truffle caviar.. boy.... it literally melted in our mouth Service is always great & food hits everytime! I love coming back here and I'm glad that they're getting busier

could not pass up a 50% sushi deal! DAI sushi was so yummy and had the best vibes. i was in love with the decor of the restaurant that transports you back to Japan and all the Studio Ghibli artwork they only do walk-in reservations so the wait was pretty long on a Saturday night around 8:30, we had to wait a whole hour before being seated and we ended up being one of the last people being served. several groups came after us and were turned away so try to come before 8:30 on a weekend to make last call and anticipate the long wait!! you can always shop in the nearby plaza while you wait for your turn :) when we finally ordered, everything was super fresh and delicious. our faves included the scallop roll, the miso cod sushi and sea bream sushi. despite the long wait, the service was great and staff was so friendly, we ended up spending a little more than we were hoping with the 50% off but we would definitely return!

    Amazingly good!

A hidden gem with sushi quality well worth the price! Will definitely be back, I'm craving already just writing this review. Quality of the fish is amazing. I'm not picky but I hate it when Salmon has a sea taste to it. Neither salmon or tuna had that after taste at all. Huge win (really hard to find places that don't). Sashimi Roll: so good! They even add cavier to our roll cause it was empty! Rainbow Roll: huge pieces and a lot of fish! Bento Box Special: the tempura , was to die for! Karaage was more breading than chicken so I would try something else. Blue fin Tuna and Salmon Nigiri: must get. Thick fish pieces and they were 50% of!! Service was on par with high end restaurants! They gave us a free miso soup since the bento came with one and my partner didn't get one. Super attentive and always helpful! Parking is a little small but easy to get. May have to walk a little bit down to get to the bigger lot!

The restaurant is slightly dim inside but I personally thought it had a nice and cozy ambience . They are currently having a a 50% off sushi and so we took advantage of the deal and tried a few items. We ordered Sashimi Salad, blue fin tuna , yellowtail sushi's , octopus sushi, salmon avocado roll, bake salmon rolls, truffle salmon, sunset rolls, sushi seeing that it came out quick and was so melt in your mouth delicious. The fish here is incredibly fresh , The prices were great compared to other nearby sushi places . Customer service should pay attention more to the clients!

    Mentaiko udon !

Ambiance was so cute! Lots of Ghibli art, staff was quick and very kind. Fish quality was really good! The mentaiko udon was creamy, good flavor, reminded us of Japan! Will definitely come back!

We went on Friday night and I was surprised that we were seated right away. The service was great and friendly and the restaurant itself felt cozy and high-end. We ordered the garlic parm fries, momonoki chicken wings, and dashi pesto. The garlic parm fries were crispy and fresh and were like the best version of a McDonald's or Potato Corner fry. I could smell the garlic as soon as the fries came to the table but unfortunately, the taste wasn't as strong as I was hoping. Still really delicious, but the high price point means I probably wouldn't order this again. The chicken wings came out next and they were HUGE. They were super juicy inside and the fish sauce glaze was strong and had a nice kick. I appreciated that despite being glazed, the wings were still pretty crispy. The slaw that came on the size was a little heavy on the mayo and had a bright peppery taste. Definitely a nice fresh component to an otherwise heavy meal. Finally, the dashi pesto came out and the udon was perfectly bouncy. The pesto had a subtle seafood flavor and was very herbaceous. Most pesto I'm used to pack more of a sharp, garlicky punch, but this one leaned heavily into the fresh basil which I enjoyed. The scallops on top were also cooked beautifully. I was a bit sad that we received each dish at very different times, the dash pasta coming out much much later than the fries but they did warn us after we placed our order that the kitchen would be very busy so I appreciated the heads up. All in all, I think this is such a fun and classy fusion restaurant and they executed very well.

The puff bread was a bit too flour-y for me but I loved the honey butter it came with. I really hope the crab roe spaghetti stays on the menu because it was delicious, great portion, and had amazing crab flavor. The pasta was also well cooked and sauce not too creamy. The berry part of the matcha berry tiramisu was the strongest so I didn't detect matcha as much. They were kind enough to provide a small slice of chocolate cake a la mode with a candle for the birthday and it was actually a great balance of flavor, not being too rich or heavy in chocolate. I would order this again separately as a solid fudge sundae. The beef carpaccio, squid ink uni pasta, spicy miso carbonara, mentaiko pizza, and sticky toffee pudding are still solid as usual. Came back yet another time, and got the beef carpaccio because I just love the truffle flavor, the two sauces, and the arugula/apple bites in between. The only improvement would be smaller slices to make it easier to eat since the larger ones are hard to pick up. The crab roe spaghetti I had to get again for the summer menu in case they decide not to keep it for fall/winter because the crab flavor is so good. My friend ordered the seafood malfadine which I was apprehensive about considering my previous experience but WOW I was surprised by how different it was this time around because when I tried a bite, they REALLY turned it around. I'm so grateful my friend decided to order it because after trying theirs, I might start ordering it again for myself now. Not sure if I had it on an off day previously or they changed the recipe but it now is actually as flavorful as the spicy miso carbonara and might actually be even better. The sausage flavor actually adds a lot of richness without being heavy or overpowering, the spice is a good kick without being actually spicy, the shrimp is delicious, but I kept going back for the sauce. INI Ristorante is one of very few restaurants I consistently keep coming back to instead of trying other new spots in the area because I can't choose my favorite out of so many good things on the menu and just want them all so I need to come with bigger groups or rotate each time I visit. A great problem to have. Their dishes are innovative, pack full flavor, and are unique enough to not find elsewhere. I never have to worry about finding parking and I love being able to reserve in advance since it gets busy. They're the spot I keep bringing friends and family to.

You MUST get some skewers of course, my favorites being anything pork belly and chicken skin. I also highly recommend any charred meat, like the steak or marinated short ribs. Fried foods are also great drinking foods, so the takoyaki is a safe bet and the tempura was delicious. Honestly, get a wide variety with some friends, try everything and have a good time.

I think the price was also reasonable, which is all one could ask for when dining out. Chicken Teriyaki: I really enjoyed this, because I rarely go to Japanese restaurants that serve chicken teriyaki outside of a side dish in ACYE. The chicken is juicy, the teriyaki sauce is just the right hit. Not too salty, a hint of sweet, and the dish overall is generally light. A great complement to the rolls, yakitori, ramen, or whatever. Kyushu Ramen: I will admit that this ramen will fall on the pile of "generic ramens that non-specialty stores sell". However, there is nothing wrong with ordinary, if ordinary means that a restaurant is proud to serve something at a respectable price with a solid taste. Beef Tongue: It's no secret that beef tongue is good. The problem is finding an establishment that can cook it well. Kappo Honda does it well, and they offer a very good diving board to those who want to try it for the first time. Bay Scallop with Pork: I like it when I see an item on the menu that has a few words, and I taste all the flavors that the words communicated. You get the taste of pork the first second, then the burst of scallop on the first or second chew. A nicely designed stick overall. Service: Nothing special. They ask what you want, they give you what you want, you pay, and leave. I would say it'll take you a second to take the menu in, so try to see if the staff could help you out with options. Ambiance: It's a sizable place, but it feels small because of all the seats packed in. I enjoyed it because it gives a very Japanese vibe. The inside of the restaurant is full of autographs of famous people who dined at some point, very Japanese.

We ordered the furikake fries, spicy tuna crispy rice, edamame, the 6-hand-roll set, and two pitchers of beer. It was a good amount of food to share and made for a fun, casual dinner with the group. Most of the hand rolls were really good and tasted fresh. The only ones I probably wouldn't order again were the crab and scallop rolls. Both were a little too salty for me and had more mayo than I personally prefer, which overpowered the seafood. The other rolls in the set were much better. The spicy tuna crispy rice was tasty, and the furikake fries were a fun addition to have alongside the sushi and beer. Service was also a highlight. The sushi chef was friendly and helpful, and our waitress Cassie was great--friendly, attentive, and made our experience enjoyable. Overall, we had a good time. It's a fun place to come with friends, order a bunch of hand rolls and appetizers, grab a pitcher of beer, and enjoy the experience together. I'd come back, although next time I'd probably skip the crab and scallop rolls and try some of the other options instead!

ROL is my spot in Orange County for fairly priced handrolls. They have this location in Fountain…read moreValley, a location in Irvine, and their newest location in La Habra. The handrolls are simple; however, I appreciate the warmed, crispy seaweed and the cold fish on the warm rice. Some of the rolls have surprise crispy textures from chives or crispy onions. I also recommend splurging on their yuzu kosho sauce if you prefer citrusy sweetness or their fresh wasabi if you prefer spicy/savory flavor. I usually stick to their handroll sets, which offer the best value. They have a set of six handrolls for $34 and, if you're able to come for lunch on a weekday, then you can get four rolls for a very reasonable $17. If there's something that you don't like in their set menus, then they often accommodate requests to switch out rolls. Wait times can be significant at peak hours; therefore, if you come in, then make sure you make a reservation or click on the waitlist through Yelp!
