Before going in, I called the restaurant and Trinity answered. She was so kind and helpful, answering my questions about food allergy accommodations and reassuring me that they could take care of us. Trinity ended up being our server as well, and she was absolutely wonderful--sweet, attentive, and somehow managed everything flawlessly on her own without ever making us feel neglected. As for the food...wow. The fish truly melts in your mouth, and you can tell everything is incredibly fresh. My husband is gluten free, and they went above and beyond to make sure his meal was completely safe. The only downside is that it's a bit pricier than some other spots in town, but honestly, the quality and service make it worth

Went to this link to send it to my friend to meet up this week and saw they closed permanently?! Whhhy!? I loved this place!

Solid place for quick lunch. They have lunch happy hour combo, good portion. Fresh and tasty. Went there during weekday lunch and they were not that busy. Will come back for dinner one day

Came in for dinner on Friday night on a whim since I was craving sushi and it wasn't too far. We were seated right away since there wasn't a line. The ambience was really cozy and the restaurant was decorated nicely but still felt casual enough. Service was a tad bit slow but there was only about 4 total staff I saw around so understandable. Our sushi came first and wow, the quality surprised me. I tried several different things like bluefin tuna, amberjack, yellowtail, scallops and salmon. Soooo good. The quality reminded me of going to omakase vs typical AYCE places. Every piece was really good! We got some other stuff like the karaage which was super crispy, udon tempura which was perfectly fried, and oysters which was ok. Overall, we really enjoyed the food and this may be our go to sushi place from now on!

Back again and still love it. Adorable Studio Ghibli art work theme throughout. The food is delicious. Service is perfectly attentive and welcoming.

Nice local sushi spot with fresh fish, lots of options from sashimi, bento boxes, udon, sushi rolls, etc. Everything is reasonably priced for the quality and all of the dishes I ordered were delicious. It wasn't too busy on a Tuesday night but I can imagine the weekend being busier since it's not a huge spot.

DAI Sushi has undoubtedly become one of my new favorite places to get sushi in Orange County. It's just that good! Everything is so reasonably priced considering it's seafood, and the quality of all the fish is to die for! I'm so incredibly grateful to my friend for introducing me to this place. My most recent visit to DAI Sushi was on a Thursday around lunchtime, and surprisingly, it was not very crowded. I think people are missing out on this hidden gem. The establishment is quite small and there aren't a ton of staff members, so I think it'd be an overwhelming experience if there were a line out the door for seating. FOOD: (5/5) Everything I've had here was mind-blowingly delicious, especially the nigiri. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the pieces of sushi/nigiri, but my favorites were definitely the bluefin tuna, miso black cod, salmon, and the Japanese scallop. I think I will be dreaming about the Japanese scallop sushi. Not pictured since I didn't get it during my most recent visit, but I also highly recommend the creamy mentaiko pasta. It's soooo tasty. I regret not getting it during my recent stop to DAI Sushi. SERVICE: (4.5/5) I will say that I think service can be pretty slow even when there aren't a lot of other patrons. It can take a hot minute to get your food, especially when compared to other, bigger sushi establishments. However, I believe the food is so worth it that I can't even really complain. All my interactions with staff were pleasant as well. Our server was super personable, attentive, and informative about the menu. TLDR// I will always be back when I'm in the area and craving sushi. This place is so underrated, and people who choose to skip on DAI Sushi are doing themselves a disservice. Yum! Yum! Yum!

Brought my sister here and she loved it! We ordered the mentaiko udon, Japanese scallop, Japanese amberjack, jalapeño yellowtail, squid, salmon, albacore, black miso cod & sea bream. Everything was absolutely delicious like always The sushi was so delicious, my sister's favorites were the jalapeño yellowtail, squid, black miso cod, Japanese scallop and amberjack. We ended up ordering another round of those nigiris The chef gave us a specialty hand roll on the house too! They said they were testing out some recipes to add onto their menu, so I hope they add it on because it was sooooo good... it was a hand roll with blue crab, ankimo, uni topped with truffle caviar.. boy.... it literally melted in our mouth Service is always great & food hits everytime! I love coming back here and I'm glad that they're getting busier

could not pass up a 50% sushi deal! DAI sushi was so yummy and had the best vibes. i was in love with the decor of the restaurant that transports you back to Japan and all the Studio Ghibli artwork they only do walk-in reservations so the wait was pretty long on a Saturday night around 8:30, we had to wait a whole hour before being seated and we ended up being one of the last people being served. several groups came after us and were turned away so try to come before 8:30 on a weekend to make last call and anticipate the long wait!! you can always shop in the nearby plaza while you wait for your turn :) when we finally ordered, everything was super fresh and delicious. our faves included the scallop roll, the miso cod sushi and sea bream sushi. despite the long wait, the service was great and staff was so friendly, we ended up spending a little more than we were hoping with the 50% off but we would definitely return!

    Amazingly good!

A hidden gem with sushi quality well worth the price! Will definitely be back, I'm craving already just writing this review. Quality of the fish is amazing. I'm not picky but I hate it when Salmon has a sea taste to it. Neither salmon or tuna had that after taste at all. Huge win (really hard to find places that don't). Sashimi Roll: so good! They even add cavier to our roll cause it was empty! Rainbow Roll: huge pieces and a lot of fish! Bento Box Special: the tempura , was to die for! Karaage was more breading than chicken so I would try something else. Blue fin Tuna and Salmon Nigiri: must get. Thick fish pieces and they were 50% of!! Service was on par with high end restaurants! They gave us a free miso soup since the bento came with one and my partner didn't get one. Super attentive and always helpful! Parking is a little small but easy to get. May have to walk a little bit down to get to the bigger lot!

The restaurant is slightly dim inside but I personally thought it had a nice and cozy ambience . They are currently having a a 50% off sushi and so we took advantage of the deal and tried a few items. We ordered Sashimi Salad, blue fin tuna , yellowtail sushi's , octopus sushi, salmon avocado roll, bake salmon rolls, truffle salmon, sunset rolls, sushi seeing that it came out quick and was so melt in your mouth delicious. The fish here is incredibly fresh , The prices were great compared to other nearby sushi places . Customer service should pay attention more to the clients!

    Mentaiko udon !

Ambiance was so cute! Lots of Ghibli art, staff was quick and very kind. Fish quality was really good! The mentaiko udon was creamy, good flavor, reminded us of Japan! Will definitely come back!

    Oyster shooters
    Anna T.

This sushi spot is kind of lowkey and casual in ambiance but the food quality is high! It is so so good! Pro-tip, get the tako wasabi! Great as a topping to your sushi but also I ate it as if it was a side dish itself. The oyster shooters were fun, would skip on the uni shooter and get another oyster instead. Loved all of the nigiri that we ordered, all super fresh and the presentation was beautiful! Had takeout from here once also and that was also super well packaged and fresh. The service is nice and standard! Had the ice cream tempura/fried ice cream here and that was just okay, the fried exterior did not stick well to the ice cream so that could be a skip.

I ordered the Miso Bacon Carbonara which was delicious. The sauce was rich and creamy without feeling too heavy, and the miso added a sweet flavor that made it different from a traditional carbonara. The bacon was cooked well, crispy around the edges while still tender and the slight kick of spice kept each bite interesting. Overall, I'd definitely come back for this dish. I loved the arugula apple salad on top that added an extra bit of tanginess to the dish. -Truffle Funghi Pizza: Amazing thin pizza. I went with a group of 8, and we opted for family style. The umeboshi spring salad was fresh and delicious, sweet and savory with pistachios for crunch. Truffle cheese bread was served warm in a skillet. It came with a generous serving of mozzarella and ricotta on top, with honey on the side for drizzling. The crab roe spaghetti had a rich sauce with a nice sweetness from the crab, plus a generous portion of crab on top with dehydrated tomato and stracciatella. We kept the sauce for dipping some of the bread and pizza crust! Spicy miso carbonara was their recommendation as a popular dish. We got it less spicy, and it was pretty subtle. All of the flavors blended perfectly together. The egg yolk was dropped whole on top for you to mix in yourself. It was very savory and not too salty. Mentaiko pizza was super flavorful with a light layer of mentaiko cream under the mozzarella with nori, bonito, octopus and corn on top. The crust was delicious and chewy. It was an interesting mix and everything worked together perfectly. The service was great - very efficient, helpful and they checked on us periodically and made sure we had serving utensils since we were dining family style. They do accept reservations, which I would recommend! The space is bright and open, and has a casual family friendly feel. It's clean and modern with no pretension. The bathroom was also clean.
