We visited Daiquiri Deck Bradenton Beach on December 30th with a party of seven, and the experience was disappointing from start to finish. We arrived around 12:30 and didn't leave until about 2:30, mostly due to extremely slow service. The restaurant appeared to be understaffed -- our server was actually the bartender, who was clearly stretched thin trying to manage both the bar and multiple tables. Our appetizers took a long time to arrive, and when they finally did, they were barely warm. The entrées weren't any better. My Cuban sandwich and their $7 "premium" fries came out lukewarm, and I didn't feel well afterward. Other dishes at the table were also cold: the grilled shrimp on the nachos, and the chicken and shrimp that were supposed to be added to a pasta dish didn't even arrive with the meal. When they finally showed up, they were cold too. We brought the issues to the staff's attention. While the manager took $50 off the bill, they never came to the table to apologize or acknowledge the problems. For a busy holiday week on Anna Maria Island, you'd expect a restaurant to be prepared, but this was unacceptable -- slow service, poorly handled food, and no accountability from management. This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had on the island, and I hope the restaurant seriously reevaluates its leadership and staffing. read more

I had really high expectations for this place. Meeting family here and asked to sit on the deck. Party of 7. No can do. Ok we had a table towards the back deck door. Closest we could get. Weather was perfect outside. Not sure why it was a no go. There were plenty of empty tables.... Next two of us ordered frozen drinks $10 each. Honestly the worse flavor and could not even taste the liquor. Off to a bad start. Now the food was up next. Hubby got the big burger and he loved it. Grouper sandwich was good. I got the mahi-mahi bites. They were good but the sauce to dip them in was terrible!! Asked for maybe tartar sauce and they don't have any. What?? Anyway it just was not my cup of tea. The drink selection is extensive and it was fun to choose from the preselected mixes of daiquiri concoctions but also even better to get to create your own! There is an elevator or stair access to the second (dining inside and patio, and third floor open room top dining. Tall tables dominate the inside dining room. I visited the Venice location. They had an outstanding local musician, Kevin Thompson, playing outside. Too bad the rest of the venue wasn't on par with him. I ordered the Fish & Chips - a good indicator to compare restaurants. Small portion of hard coated fish, interesting version of chips, but ... Let's just say, I wouldn't order it again. A clue before I ordered should have been the condiments basket - It said Heinz, but it had some fake ketchup and mustard in it. Any decent restaurant serves Heinz ketchup. The pineapple coleslaw was inviting on the menu, but had no pineapple in it, maybe some juice. As the venue name suggests, it's about alcoholic drinks. I guess if you're sufficiently inebriated, you won't notice that the food sucks. Went on a weekday around 130-200 pm. Came real close to walking out, since we sat there for 10-15 min. Finally the so called bartender showed up to take our drink order. We enjoyed Daiquiris at the Daiquiri Deck on 2 different days during happy hour. One was during the Christmas Street party where they close down Bridge Street. The other was on their deck with beautiful views of the sunset and busy Bridge Street. Happy hour offers 16oz souvenir cup daiquiris half off with an additional topper for an additional charge. If you like sweet drinks you will like these. If you get more than two don't plan on driving anywhere. Very good service. Clean. We only had drinks so I can't speak of the food. Hostess needs some lessons. We live in the area so frequent restaurants on AMI and have never been so disappointed w DD. From the moment we entered to a hostess that took 5 minutes to address us. To her looking and acting annoyed she had to seat 4 adults and two children. She mistakenly pointed to a table of 4 so had to correct her w size of our party. Remarked that we MUST sit outside sue to size of party. She is not good nor seems to like her job. We were here on July 9th for dinner. I'm going to start with a positive note, the frozen drinks are really good. I recommend the Electric Blue Lemonade, Rum Runner, and the Strawberry Daiquiri. I will say, they are not strong at all (that's how they get you to buy the extra shot) It's a cute vibe. However, I went two nights in a row to see if my bad experience was a one night thing. It wasn't. The first night we came in we sat for a meal as well. The food wasn't terrible, but my brothers Jambalaya was rubbery and the rice looked like it had been sitting out for awhile it pretty much hardened. Service was really slow. We were sat in a corner and it took a long time for a waitress to even come up to us and the two other tables sitting next to us. Once a girl finally showed up, she was really rushing to get everything down. Took a minute for the food to come. One of the tables got really upset because the service was taking longer than it should. They spoke to the waitress and we never saw her again. She never checked on us, asked for refills, or grabbed our plates. We had the hostess come at one point checking in on us and I had to be blunt and tell her to give us the check because I wasn't about to sit there another 30mins when we had paid for parking that was about to run out (parking was not cheap) We came in the next day for just drinks at the bar. I guess it's what you expect when sitting at the bar. Didn't really interact with the bartender. Never asked if we wanted another drink. He just threw the checks at us and that was it. What I noticed for both nights is that all the employees (yes I mean all because I was watching everyone) look like they hate being there. It brings the customers down when you can tell every single one of your employee hate it and aren't even trying to pretend to like it while in front of the customer. I probably won't come back to this location just because your staff seems over worked and don't know how to serve without getting overwhelmed or at least figuring a system out where they aren't just focusing on the table with 11 people and forgetting about the three tables that have 2-4 people.
