Popped in here recently about a half an hour before closing, and the lobby was full of parents and kids. My first thought was there is going to be a long wait but that turned out not to be the case at all. While I was waiting my turn in line, I had a chance to check out the lobby. I go to this dairy queen all the time and today they had some weird policy changes. One of my kids ordered a kids meal and when I requested to upgrade the cone to a blizzard I was told I couldn't do that but I could give up the drink for the blizzard. Then my other kid ordered a single cheeseburger meal and then ordered a blizzard and again she was told we had to give up the drink for the blizzard. Dairy Queen is my all time favorite restaurant!! The food: Although famously known for blizzards, Dairy Queen also sells other fast food classics: burgers, milkshakes, fries, etc. They have the best fries ever!! And the blizzards are down right awesome! They also sell amazing ice cream cakes. The service: Sometimes, the employees can seem a little passive aggressive, but they're usually pretty nice. The environment: It's just kinda your regular fast food restaurant, but with a little of Dairy Queen's style. I must admit, however, it feels dirty and there's usually leftover spoons or crumbs on the floor and it's kind of untidy. Final notes: As aforementioned, Dairy Queen is my absolute favorite! Very rude young girl was running the window. Instead of listening, she argued with me. The order was quoted as 23.00, but when we drove up to pay it was 19.00. I asked her to tell me what was on the order. One item was wrong, but she insisted that was what was ordered. I see lots of bad reviews for this specific Dairy Queen, and I don't understand why! I have only ordered ice cream here so I can't speak on food, but each trip I have made has also been delightful. On Valentine's Day I came in to get a cake, and the young lady at the counter was quick to greet me and ask if I had any questions. Full disclosure- I haven't bought anything but ice cream there. . . and always to go. Blizzards- HELLO! Nine/ten times the yummy mix-ins go all the way to the bottom. The vanilla base tastes terrific, and bothers my lactose intolerant kids less than full-on ice cream. Dipped cones and Dilly bars- COME TO MAMA! Yes- they are simple but there is something magical about cracking into that chocolate shell and working your way down the creamy vanilla ice cream. I'm actually picky about my chocolate and ice creams. But honestly, this is one of life's simple pleasures! The drive-through line can be long, but when it is, we go into the store where there's less of a wait. (Just jump out of your car for a few minutes.) QUALITY: I only ever get Blizzards, really. Sometimes they get it right and sometimes they get it mostly right. You never really know. This is the closest DQ to me, so I always just chance it when I'm really craving for a Blizzard. If not, I wait till I'm in the area of another DQ. 3/5 SERVICE: The customer service at this location is just consistently mediocre. And slow. Always slow. I always feel like there's staff just around doing nothing while there's the one person doing everything else, SLOWLY. Well, at least the staff always seem passable-nice... 2/5 INTERIOR: I only ever take my orders to go, so I've only been to the counter, but seems okay inside. Is the owner trying to go out of business?! The customer service is ALWAYS horrible here. And I know how much these employees make hourly. It isn't chump change. It's the same amount new employees make at Chick Fil A, McDonalds and Jersey Mikes nearby. Those restaurants do a phenomenal job at customer service. Today I watched an employee prepare and bag a huge double order up that was taken after my much smaller order. In fact, I saw my hot food sitting under the hot light even before the large order was starting to be prepared. When I called the employee out on it, an coworker not involved in our exchange, cut me off and exclaimed "we are doing the best we can!" I can sympathize with that statement. But it was inappropriate in that moment. I've worked in fast food too and the answer to a disgruntled customer isn't first to defend themselves. I've been here a couple of times over the years and I've always been patient but this time, I spoke my mind and that employees reaction will keep me from ever coming back. I know I'm not the only person that has had recent complaints about this establishment so I know Im not a lone case of horrid customer service. Management please do better. Worst blizzard makers I've ever seen. I don't think they even train them how to make blizzards. Each time I've gotten one from this DQ, there is nothing in the bottom half of cup except for vanilla ice cream. If they are training the employees, they're training them to skimp on ingredients and make it as quickly and crapily as possible. On the one time I took my blizzard back up to the counter and asked to have more ingredients added, I was scoffed at and treated very rudely. (I NEVER in my life have taken food back up to the counter...this was BAD. Employees, this isn't your dream job I'm sure...why don't you load them up? Management, stop being douche-bags because the most expensive product you purchase is candy/cookie toppings, and telling your peons to be shiest. You could cut back on soda syrup (you guys use WAY too much) and instead hook up the blizzards a little fatter. What else is there to say, look at all the horrible reviews! This will 100%, without a doubt be the worst DQ you will ever go to. How has upper management/owners not done anything to change it?? Last time I went I ordered 2 large blizzards, said please make sure to mix it well and give me sufficient toppings because this location ALWAYS jips you on blizzard toppings and it's so annoying cuz they are so expensive. I get up to the drive-thru window pay and see the blizzards. All I see is chocolate and vanilla ice cream with small dustings of oreo and butterfinger, even digging through it half way down and not a single piece of candy, wtf!? I ask to have more put in, she says oh well it breaks up when we mix it and it's on the bottom. No it does not, don't lie to me, there is literally no toppings! I ask for the manager, who is just as young as the employees barely over 17. I go back and forth with her, like she's arguing with me. Finally she says, well that's what happens with large size blizzards, they just get no topping half way down. Umm okay, that's another issue but not my main complaint.. I say okay, so why don't you put half the ice cream and toppings in, mix it, then the other half and mix it, bam an easy solution to so many complaints. Her response was, it would take too long. What, an extra 25 seconds?! I guarantee people would not mind waiting half a minute longer. So she says, well our ice cream machine just broke so I can't make you others or remix the ones you have since a spoon already is in them, then handed me extra toppings to mix myself. I called corporate the next day, they said a District Manager would call/email me. That was 5 weeks ago and nothing from upper management. So I went back tonight, well because oreo blizzards are too good and I'll put in extra oreos at home and mix it myself if I have to. I go in this time, a young gentleman named Garret helped me. I told him there is never adequate toppings and never mixed good. I asked if he could please do half ice cream/toppings, mix, then the other half and mix. He had no problem doing that and gladly agreed with a smile. It took him a good couple minutes which I saw as a positive, he called me up and it was vanilla instead of chocolate ice cream. I had no big deal with that mistakes happen, so he gladly remade them and it has a ton of toppings and there was toppings all the way down to the bottom!! Perfect, finally damnit! Thanks Garrett! I have read some of the negative reviews and am shocked at how bad this DQ is. it seems to have been like this for several years and the service is just as bad still and the blizzard is exactly how it was explained. The bottom half of the blizzard was not mixed. It was supposed to be a chocolatey blizzard and there was still vanilla at the bottom. When the food was ready the employee just looked at my girlfriend and I and said "here is your food" and tossed it at the counter at me. When I gave my debit card to pay the girl at the register just set my card down and walked away. If I wasn't paying attention anyone could have just stolen my credit card. Dairy Queen has totally re-branded itself and I love it. Now, I think ALL of the Dairy Queens serve food, as well as ice cream, and their new half pound burger is totally awesome, and it totally hit me by surprise because my burger of choice since I was in High School (class of 83) has been the double whopper with cheese, until NOW. Their burgers at DQ are flame broiled same as Burger King, but they have bigger and better meat patties, and the toppings are identical to the whopper (I like mine without pickles, but will tolerate if I have to, but the pickles can be picked off, but there's still the flavor in there that, as I said, I can tolerate, but it's much better for me without.) Anyway, this is not the ONLY Dairy Queen I have been to, and they all seem to be popping out this excellent new menu Burger that has finally topped the best "Fast Food Chain" burger out there on my list. Something else they have is REAL ONION RINGS, not that crap that BK gives you that look and taste like regurgitated onions in them, that are nasty, DQ gives these huge, 100% real onion rings and they don't cook them and leave them out for hours waiting for someone to buy them as they spoil under a heat lamp, you get fresh, hot, right out of the deep fryer Onion Rings, and they are also a super great compliment to the Burger, and then this DQ uses Pepsi Products, and I am a COKE guy, but that's ok, they have Mt. Dew which is my number 2 drink and sometimes I prefer it over Coke. Don't be shocked if you go to one DQ and they have COKE there, as I was in one near Auburn are and it had only Coke products, but the same sandwich there was as good as any of at least 5 other DQ's I have been to traveling over to Yakima and through Cle Elum, and they were awesome there too.. My wife loves their healthier artisan sandwiches which are also very tasty, and she gets their Blizzards all the time there, the Heath Blizzard, and they are perfect, all the way through, not sure what some people are saying, but DQ is the place I look for now when I am traveling or if I just get a craving for a quick meal, I just know their new burger is perfect and I LOVE IT. So, I gave them 5 stars because I think they are really making an effort to improve their brand, and when they have messed up and put pickles on my burger, like they did today, and I usually eat at home, so I don't want to get in the car and come back so I called and the Manager took care of me, Austin I think his name was, and he said the next time I come in I can get another Burger on them (without pickles) so he satisfied me and treated me as a customer, and that's why I will keep going back, to whatever DQ I can find nearby when I am hungry, and eat my favorite burger and onion rings and Mt. Dew, it's just awesome. I know they say fast food is bad for you, but in moderation, it can't be beat, and they do have the new Artisan sandwiches which are more healthy if that's your kick. Keep up the great work DQ, I see more cars at your drive-thru's now than ever before. Whoever thought up the new look and menu should get a raise.
