Easy spot to get in and off the highway from. My mini blizzard was not fully stirred together. It was as if they put a little filling in, stirred then placed a tad on top. There was so much vanilla ice cream I'd say quality control needs some work. I noticed a few other ice creams being brought out with similar problems. Other than that everything tasted great. The employees were good. Working hard, and courteous. The drive thru seems to move pretty quick. My table could have used a wipe down. It is a little small inside. There is maybe 10-20 tables. 5/16/21: We stopped here on our way to Richmond. We've been here in the past & the service wasn't bad. Today, we only went for Blizzards & an ice cream cone. There was a minivan in front of us that had us waiting 20 minutes at least. When we got to the window to pay & get our ice cream, our blizzards were messy & melting. Ugh!!! They didn't flip them over because you know what would have happened. Ice cream was coming all down the sides. The cashier didn't even have the decency to wipe them off. When they have orders that are taking all day to fill, DO NOT make someone's ice cream to just sit there and melt. That's not right & it was a sloppy mess. Common sense should say WAIT being that it doesn't take long to make Blizzards. I honestly should've refused them, but my kids really wanted them. The cashier wasn't all that friendly either. I truly don't stop here often, so I won't be missing out if we never come here again. I don't appreciate being given something that didn't even look appetizing. I barely ate mine. read more

I ordered a large blizzard. It was 1.5" from the top of the cup, whereas my husband's small size had a mound about 1" above the rim. Either of ours were turned upside down and mine slowed had a huge air pocket in it. It wad not fully mixed, almost all plain vanilla on the bottom. So disappointed!! read more

No Dairy Queen I ever tried has been the greatest. When I come up this way from Chester,va to visit family this is one of only two or three restaurants around here to dine at. I keep trying to give them a try hoping it got a lil better. The food is just nasty. The burgers are bland dry the fries ain't no different. The chilli dogs mess your stomach up. Best thing about this place and other locations are the ice cream and special drinks. It wld be nice if all locations could shut down and be replaced w/a five guys. Wishful thinking. read more

This DQ has been a staple for a quick stop Blizzard, shake, or some good hot grub. The location is off I64 and close to the Colonial Downs Racetrack, thus the name. It is combined with a gas station which less appealing than a stand alone. Usually the service is pretty good, but can be sporadic. I have never had issues with the food. Today was a quick drive thru run on my way to the UVA game. The parking lot area around the restaurant was for the most part free of debris. Only my son was ordering since I was driving. He got a grilled cheese combo with a chocolate shake. We were first in the drive thru line and as you would expect the service was quick and efficient thank good goodness. The food took only about 5 minutes to be cranked out of the kitchen which was awesome. My son reported the food hot and tasty and the shake cold and delicious. 7/24/22 Drive thru attendant had a nasty attitude. If you do not like your job then quit. We are paying customers and we are not there to get side eyed or rushed. I am visiting from NYC and I thought that the attitudes were bad there. But it seems that in this neck of the woods it is no better. Where is the so called Southern hospitality at. You will definitely not find it in this establishment. They definitely know how to kill your mood here. I guess they do not know how to deal with kind/ polite people like myself. read more

My wife and I have the Dairy Queen app for iPhone. We are locals and have supported Dairy Queen for years. On Sunday, March 06, 2022 at 5:00PM my wife and I stopped by to get Blizzards. We had a coupon for Buy One Get One. We went through the drive through and the lady that waited on us was rude. She kept saying please hold on. Finally, we provided our small order and we're asked what kind of coupon we had. We said it was the one on the Dairy Queen app. She rudely said that she didn't know, she would have to look at it. We drove around, she couldn't remember what we ordered, we told her again. I gave her my phone to which she said, we don't have a scanner you need a code. A code? Why have the Dairy Queen app if you can't use it? Isn't the goal of customer service to find a way to make the sale? Nope, not here. It was very clear that Dairy Queen didn't care. We deleted the Dairy Queen app and have vowed not to visit Dairy Queen again. There is enough rudeness and discourtesy in the world to have to be slapped down over ice cream for a few bucks. There aren't any Dairy Queen's where I live, so I always like to stop if I'm over on this end. This will be my go-to DQ when I'm in this area! The staff was friendly, food came out quickly and order was correct. It was also hot/fresh. My blizzard passed the "flip-over" test and has candy throughout:) They also have a drive-thru which is always nice. Pleasant experience! read more

I know it's just a Dairy Queen but we literally had the sweetest drive through attendant and i had to say something. Unfortunately I didn't catch his name, and the only way I could describe him was that he was about middle aged, and spoke with an accent. (I am so sorry for not having a better description) He was so professional when we pulled up and put his entire soul into our meal, and just made us feel very nice at 930 in the morning. It wasn't that he did anything out of the ordinary, but just seemed like a genuinely wonderful person. Also the food was amazing! y'all should stop here!! read more

Just went here for lunch with my husband. We ordered 2 cheeseburger meals. The bun is super dry and the meat crumbles. It was over $16 and the fries seem like they touched the grease for a hot second. Won't be going there for a meal anymore. Just for the blizzards, which are good. read more

Yes this is a Dairy Queen in a gas station BUT the food is really good. My family goes here weekly because of the quality and taste of food. It's always hot and freshly made which you wouldn't expect in a place like this. Worth your time to stop for a quick lunch or dinner. Just purchased a 4 piece tender meal. They forgot to add the gravy and there was also a long black hair...I'm a blond. So disgusting. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Hair nets should be required to prevent this sort of thing. They did refund my money. read more

This place gives good food and the ice cream is awesome. However, I'd like to point out a few things that really bother me. Firstly, they do NOT provide military discounts but they still give senior discounts? Secondly, the bananas they use for the ice creams are a bit rotted and infested with fruit flies. Thirdly, it isn't a requirement to wear a mask in this place so there will be lots of people not wearing a mask. I just want to inform everyone else how unsanitary this place is and should take health precautions, since this restaurant obviously won't. read more

Order 3 blizzards and not a single one got flipped over. Owner stated that they were too liquidy to do so. Tried to give them back but they wouldn't take them. Ordered summer berry cheesecake blizzard and got maybe 2 blackberries and 2 pieces of cheesecake throughout the whole thing. Disappointing! read more

We made a stop for gas, restrooms, and something to hold us over for another couple of hours home. This looks like a fairly new establishment. It was clean and the service was efficient. I ordered a banana split with caramel instead of pineapple topping, hot fudge instead of chocolate syrup, and no extra toppings. That may not sound like a tall order, but you would be surprised at how many people get "special" orders wrong frequently. They got it right with the right quantity of each flavor. The young lady behind the counter was very nice and seemed eager to do her job. It's probably the best Dairy Queen I've been to in a long time. Good place for a quick stop. read more

Avoid this one. If i could give 0 stars i would. this place has really gone down hill. Service Is awful. We only go once and a while because the service is terrible. This isnt the first mess up but one of many. We ordered 1 cheese burger plain combo with a shake just whip cream and a bbq combo with onion rings and a shake with just whip cream. They messed it up so bad first we seen they left off the shake and got rung up for another one instead of the drink substitute we paid full price then we had the guy double check that they were both combos they werent they we had to pay again for frys they didnt give us the drink we paid for either . So thats three times we had to be rung up then we got the food both shakes were messes up. My husband said not to worry about it and asked for some sweet and sour sause and the manager say that they charge for it my husband told him we would not be back. The man just looked at him and walked off.Also the people that work there look very unprofessional with rainbow colored hair and extremely heavy makeup. The rudeness is over the top. read more
