Am I really going to give a DQ 5 stars? Let me tell you why. First, a local teen held the door open for us to let us go in before him. Wow! Then the girl at the counter had an adorable smile and was super friendly. Asked what her favorite thing on the menu was and she passionately said the onion rings. We ordered rings and a moolatte to share. Restroom was really clean as was the location. As we were leaving the folks at the table by the door wished us a nice day. I was so friggin' excited to see a DQ. I have not been to one in years! Unfortunately this was not the best experience I could have hoped for. On our way back to Dallas, we decided that we needed to stop and get something to eat. Everyone voted that DQ was fine and we pulled in. Let me just say that I was shocked and tickled to see that the place was full of bikers. At first I was like oh shit because the only thing I could see was Hell on half of someone's rocker and I was not going to sashay my sexy black self near any Hells Angels. Happy to see it was the Sons of Hell, my family and I went in and ordered some specials. PS, my Mom wouldn't have cared if it was Satan himself, she was hungry and needed a bathroom break. So we go in, order some specials and I be danged if every single order was WRONG. My parents wanted mustard on their burgers and I wanted mayo and ketchup. They put mayo and ketchup on everything. My Dad's sundae came with banana syrup instead of sliced bananas and I never got my Oreo Blizzard. I finally asked where my ice cream was and then they made all of our ice cream over again. Of course my Mom would not eat two sundaes (my Dad could and was fine) so she just left it on the table. We had to ask for our bottles of waters and I just don't know what was on their minds! I ordered 2 mini-Blizzard cookie dough with MM's and was overcharged by 20cents- yeah it's only 20cents BUT IT WAS THE PRINCIPLE of it!! The drive-thru gal couldn't explain it and was rude about it with a bad customer service attitude, and she didn't know why; so I asked for the manager who added with a calculator and came out with the same amount I did and couldn't explain why the cash register was giving a different amount! So after still being nice about it and talking to her she gets upset and slams the drive-thru window and walks away!! Really?! I saw they had cheese curds and wanted to add them to my order,so when the girl gave us our drinks I told her. She said hang on and never came back! Got out money and was waiting for the guy who never came back! So I stepped on the bell, nothing! So I went inside and he told me that he had already added them to my order and didn't charge me! I said it would have been nice to know. He brought the order out then left. So I open the box to see that he switched my onion rings with cheese curds! Add and substitute are two different words! Today was the last straw. If I could have given this place no stars I would have. I'm local to the area and have given this place far to many chances. In two years I've given them my business about 15 times (mainly for ice cream). Not one time has my family's order been fully right. Not one time have we waited less then 30 min just for blizzards and we always try to go on off hours (outside of lunch and dinner rush). About 3/4 of the times we've been told they are out of what we ordered or don't "have that." I would rather drive all the way to Showlow to get a blizzard then deal with this place one more time. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE. The service was terrible, they were out of things people go to Dairy Queen specifically for (shakes and chicken baskets with gravy), and my husband literally had to clean the bathroom himself before he could use it due to it being so disgusting. We ordered meals with sundaes and had to go up repeatedly to remind them we were still waiting for them. It seemed like they were just being lazy and wanted us to forget about them. No one was even in any kind of a uniform so it could be just anyone off the street behind the counter. If I could give it zero stars I would. Not as anti-dog as you think, went inside saw on menu a doggie dish. I asked why sell dogs ice cream if they're not allowed. The lady explained they have had.issues with animals owners not cleaning up after pets, but offered that I can walk my dog in the field to the north or the grass across the street which had a doggie poop pick up station. Needs to be remodeled. It's small and old and understaffed. We waited forever to order, waited forever for our orders and then they were wrong. We kept telling the cashier we didn't get one if our ice cream cones and an order of fries and she would acknowledge. 15 mins later she comes out from behind the register saying they need to see our receipt. Since we were already done eating what food had been brought out to us at that point, our receipt had been thrown away with the rest of our trash. Stopped by for a pit stop and haven't had DQ in forever. From afar the building looks a little run down but the food is good. I had my fair share of cold fast food therefore I can appreciate when my food comes out hot from the fryer. I have been to DQ's all over the country, and the new Grill&Chill DQ's are popping up more and more. (not my fav's) The DQ in Holbrook, AZ is great because they have a huge pull off and it's pretty easy to get a semi truck in close enough to get an ice cream. Also on route 66, the town is old, and the DQ is too. I 40 killed most of Route 66, and the remnants of a once popular stop are evident in the DQ's weathered sign, and aged neon lights. You can go down any summer night and expect a full house, full drive through, and full neighboring parking lots. They will make anything you can dream up (with the ingredients they have) and are genuinely friendly. After a long road of nothing, you will love this place. I have never gotten a bad meal, bad service, or bad attitude from these guys. Try dipping the fries in a cup of soft serve (tastes like mini ice cream cones if you tell them not to salt the fries) It has the vibe of the old Braziers, but not the same taste. Food is better than any other fast food joint for 100 miles in either direction of I 40. and in town as well. They are still a small independent business with great ice cream, good food, and chill (not corporate) vibe. I have lived in Arizona for 22 years, and it's a regular stop for this trucker. (Not so much for the Grill and Chill three blocks from my house in Phoenix 237 miles away from this DQ) Stop in get a cool treat, photograph the dinosurs, get some petrified wood, and cruise on through. Not much to see between Flagstaff and Albuquerque, and it may not be great, but it is good. read more

The burger was mediocre;fries had no flavor unless cardboard is a flavor; the chicken was tough and flavorless. I couldn't finish it and offered it to our mastiff. Food was good but customer service poor to lousy. When two out of three employees are wearing ear buds/head phones service is non existence. Just had to stop at this old DQ on Route 66 today on our road trip for some lunch. You can tell it's an old building by the small dining area and bathrooms. Seemed clean enough. This DQ also featured Orange Julius. The food was okay - hamburger was subpar - but the desserts were great. Employees were friendly if not abut overwhelmed (seemed understaffed).
