Everything you want, but nothing you need. I like to stop at Daiso every one in a while. It's fun to browse the aisles and crack up on the translation on the package. From stationary to wrapping paper, ceramic dishes, disposable underwear....containers and kitchen necessities and everything in between, Daiso is a real treat. The store is cute and I mean real cute...smiling characters on thousands of products (typical of Japanese culture), nifty colors, clean and precision stocked shelves. Great place to take out of towners (those who have never experienced this type of discount store). Loads of options for people of the crafting sort. Beauty and candy and hardware and gardening supplies. Things for your pets, things to make you beautiful and things to eat that are sweet! All sales are final, but that's okay...there's nothing here that will break your bank. Gotta love Daiso. read more

Daiso is such an incredible budget store. Most things are $1.50 and the selection is much better than your run of the mill dollar store or 99cent store. The staff is friendly, and the store is held to a higher standard than competitors. You'll find things in here you can't find anywhere else. The store itself is standard, but I'm writing this review because I feel one of the employees showed excellence when I visited just now. The worker's name was Alexa? I think. Either way, she was the cashier and she was a lone. There was a line of around 10+ customers and she quickly got through each transaction while answering questions from people walking in the door. Multitasking at its best. Hard worker and works well under pressure. Good job! The store had everything I needed and even though they were understaffed Alexa(?) Had me out of there really fast. This branch is terrible. Selection is worse than their other branches (except for K-Town). The snacks are stale and old. The pocky sticks we got were as stale as 10 year old crackers. The green tea and red bean ice cream cups had ice crystals, so they also tasted bad. To add insult to injury, when I asked for some spoons for the ice cream, they said they don't offer spoons with their ice cream, but did offer to sell some. Do they expect people to drive home to eat the serving size ice cream or eat with their hands? Why sell snacks that you can't eat right away. I should have gone next door to the Japanese market, as they do provide free spoons with their serving size ice cream. Even the 99 cents store has fresher snacks and food. Since they have a no return policy, unable to return the bad snacks. Stay away from this place for Japanese snacks and food. read more

i bought a product that was sealed in the package. When i got home, opened & tried to close it and i can't even close. I immediately called the store to let them know i need to exchange for another one, the cashier clerk told me the product is final price and they cant do anything about it. This is a scam. Daiso needs to take responsibility for all defected products & at least exchange for the item that works. They can't sell a product that doesn't work. Would you pay for anything you buy that doesn't work? It's very upsetting that not even the item doesn't work but i have to deal with the kind of the attitude and no manner and no integrity the store handled. I will never buy anything at this store again and will make sure family and friends know about the issue. read more

I love this Daiso!! It is so big and comfortable to move around, unlike Monterey Park with the tiny aisles that can barely fit one person. The aisles here are huge, the store is big and bright and its very pink!!! I've only been to a handful of Daiso stores, they are a Japanese discount store with mostly $1.50 items unless otherwise noted. They have small nicknack items and some useful items, cutesy stuff and snacks. They have also have Calpico! The flavored yogurt drink. YAY! The have many items such as kitchenware, cosmetics, stationary, organization racks, and other items for great prices. It's located near the Marukai at the corner of Sepulveda and Hawthorne Blvds. Lots of parking in the big plaza. Definitely recommended!! Love Daiso! read more

This Daiso is located immediately adjacent to Marukai, which complements Daiso so well. I can find so many useful items at Daiso! It has a large parking lot for easy access. It gets crowded at times, but the selections are worth the wait in line. read more

This rating is NOT for the store items. This one star rating is for the workers at the cash register. There's not a SINGLE time where I left the store without hearing the workers talk negative about customers that went before me. Hello? I'm (another customer) standing there right in front of you... Do you mind not gossiping until at least I leave? Or when there's no customers around? Every single time I come here I kid you not, they have a thing or two to say about EVERY customers. After almost a year of witnessing this ridiculous behavior, I finally decided to write a review because this is what I heard last night. Store was barely 15 min before closing and they started shutting the front door. When customers started coming in this was their conversation amongst the workers. "Jesus they keep coming in like cockroaches" "Just hurry up and shut the door so IT doesn't come in" and they started laughing. "Why do they come at the last min! It's so annoying" (It was still 15 min. before closing time) It just amazes me that they'll say these things even when there's customers standing in line looking directly at them mocking other customers. Don't expect Crate and Barrel quality but its definitely well above your local dollar place and sub par of Target/Walmart. 99% of the products cost $1.50 unless they specify a different amount. For somebody like myself who enjoys making Japanese dishes at home, this is heaven. You can buy Tupperware of all sizes, Microwave safe storage for steaming vegetables, all sorts of kitchen tools and utensils, dining sets, bowls, cups, etc. I bought this cool $8 BLACK knife that I used last night to cut a lemon and kimchi and it sliced effortlessly. I'm pretty stoked! Yeee! :) There is wayyy too much stuff to cover in this review but just know they have everything you need for practical living--all for $1.50 (Japanese-style). It should not be your first place for looking for things like fuel injection nozzles, aircraft parts, or references for your 18th century literary thesis on the usage of the word, "splendid". No, you won't find those things. But you will find cute sponges, cute towels, cute non-american style dishes, cute plastic bins, cute,... wtf. Daiso Japan is a great dollar store. The price is actually $1.50 for everything but my buddy Taka explained to me that that is only because of the Exchange Rate. The Daiso Corporation has to convert its earnings to Yen and that is about $1.50 to 100 Yen conversion. In Japan Daisos are actually the 100 Yen store. No meddling exchange rates! In all seriousness the stuff is of slightly better quality than a traditional 99 store and lasts longer. They also sell a Japanese answer to sprite that is delicious. read more

What an interesting store! My daughter was attending a birthday party and the gift had to be from here. They sell all sorts of crazy Japenese things here, and they are cheap! It was a fun experience, even if most of the things are impulse buys, and not really practical. Favorite Daiso location! =^___^= We first came by accident when we decided to dine at El Rocoto after a couple of hours at Sky Zone. We visited after our tummies were full and thought we'd look around for at most 30 minutes. We actually spent close to two hours in there browsing every aisle! They have so many products, most for $1.50 unless otherwise stated. I think the most expensive thing I've seen is probably $5. From car supplies to office supplies, beauty products to candy and snacks, home/cleaning supplies to arts and crafts, there is something for everyone here. After visiting the Daiso in Monterey Park, I appreciate the layout at this location so much more. The aisles are wide and there is more than enough room to fit 3 people standing shoulder-to-shoulder. It also helps that this location doesn't get super crazy crowded -- makes the overall shopping experience so much more pleasant. My favorite discount store is still Dollar Tree but if you want cute, colorful products from Japan, China, and Taiwan, this is the place to go! read more

99 Cent Store and Dollar Tree have nothing on Daiso! Yeah, you're going to pay 50 cents more per item at Daiso, but you are getting super cute, useful stuff! OK, so maybe you don't need the cute bear-shaped kitchen sponge, but you might want to stock up on some great stoneware cups for $1.50 each. Or maybe some sandals or paperstock? There is such a wide variety of items available, ranging from Japanese brushes and paper for calligraphy to bento boxes to driving gloves to nailpolish, Daiso has it ALL. This was my very first Daiso and immediately I knew I was in love with this store chain. It's the Japanese version of the 99 Cent Store, only BETTER. MUCH BETTER. Everything here is $1.50 unless otherwise marked. The store is very large and spacious, clean and well organised, and pink. And they have pretty much everything you could ever need! Okay, so they don't really have clothes, but they do have scarves, hats, leggings, socks, and gloves. And they have tons of household goods, gardening supplies, yoga mats, school supplies, various stationary (including white-out in the shape of ducks and bunnies!), dishes, trash cans, even some snacks and beverages! The list goes on and on... If you're in Torrance and like cheap, cute, well-made items (and who doesn't?!), then Daiso Japan is definitely the place to go! It's located in the same plaza as Marukai on Sepulveda. Plenty of parking. Please note that there are no returns or exchanges allowed, there is a $10 minimum for credit card usage, and they do not accept $100 bills. I come here on a regular basis and it's always heavenly. The store itself if very clean and organized. They always have what I need. The staff here are so friendly and helpful. Just today I was in and this complete dick was upset that there was a line. And went searching for a manager. When he spotted one of the ladies working there he ripped into her about how more than three people in line is just unacceptable and he felt like walking out. The poor young lady obviously had no authority there but she did apologize and notified the register staff and they opened another register. We were behind him in line and he bitched to the cashier about what an inconvenience it was and again he was apologized to very sweetly. Now HE is the reason for holding up the line. Dick. So I told the cashiers that they are always very nice and speedy and I appreciated their customer service every time I'm in. I hate pretentious entitled people like him. I'm literally overwhelmed everytime I walk inside! The best 1.50 store ever, with a unique and cute Japanese touch. You can buy everything, from snacks to makeup to kitchen supplies and everything in-between. Even unusual but useful things like a portable hook to hang your purse when sitting in restaurants! Like someone below said, check here first before Walmart/Target/etc. when you're needing something... Daiso will probably have it, and for much less. It's my first time at DAISO and I wanted to buy the entire store. It made anxious to see all the KAWAII things they have (kawaii = cute in Japanese). I stopped by today right after work because I was influenced by my new Instagram friend @Daiso_haul. Her feed is full of cute things she got from Daiso. Everything in the store is $1.50 (unless price as marked). How can you go wrong! Most of the stuff here are Chinese, Japanese random, cutesy and girly stuff. I got makeup with the most cutest packaging in the world, kitchen stuff, bento stuff, cute notebooks, and a bunch of other super cute knick knacks I don't really need. I never would have imagined going to a discount store could be so fun! Daiso is basically a discount store meets Target meets Japan. Sugoi! They have everything from household goods to Japanese snacks. Things I've bought: - Bicycle stuff: bell, cover, chain, lock, LED lights for the bike and reflectors for my clothes. - Garden stuff: Trellis and water spray bottle - Stationery/Office stuff: Desk organizers and business card holder - Kitchen stuff: Plates, potato masher, ladle, bento boxes and much much more *oh, and a back scratcher....awwwwwww yeah. Anecdote: My bf and I are in the process of decorating our home and we needed a leveler to hang some artwork and picture frames. I suggested going to Target or Lowe's but he said he wanted to check out Daiso first. I totally didn't think Daiso would carry it...we went and there it was, for $1.50! I don't know why I was so shocked and maybe it's me but I am constantly and pleasantly surprised at the things I find at Daiso. So, Daiso is always our first stop! I am a self diagnosed Daiso addict. I live in AZ and every few month the craving comes back, calling, haunting, taunting...it's time to go back. I heed the call. If I am in LA for a weekend I will hit a few Daiso locations, sometimes more than once. Remember, I am an addict! Kitchen supplies: fabulous! They have fantastic knives, cutting boards and Bento supplies. OMG the Bento supplies! Super cute hair accessories? Yep they have them and then some! There is just so much! If you can find it at Daiso for $1.50, why pay more for it? Daiso sells a wide variety of things - kitchenware, office supplies, school supplies, gift boxes, candy, etc. Everything is $1.50+tax (unless otherwise noted), and has better quality than things you would find at a normal 99cents or dollar store. I come here to buy a lot of school/office supplies. There are many choices to choose from, but I've noticed that some items will go out of stock often. Been coming here since they opened and there are 3 locations near me, I like this one the best. The one on Western/Carson by Mitsuwa has not been sticked very well at all, its sad to see they aren't keeping up with the other stores... the one on Artesia in Gardena may be bigger but I like that this one is next to the Tokyo Central Market (formerly Marukai) so I can get my Japanese grocery shopping done at the same time. We laugh that everything in this store has a smiley face. I got all my white matching bowls and dishes here, they're so simple and elegant for the price. I come here ay least once a month for kid's projects, my daughter loooves the kids fuzzy socks and leg warmers they have been god sent during this cold winter, she likes skirts and these fuzzy leg warmers go up to her thighs, she is 8. We gave some as gifts for the holidays the girls love them!!! The stationary, folders, erasers, calculators, all the office supplies are so much cuter here, we come here for back to school supplies. And don't even get me started with the kitchen supplies! I can't tell you how useful and CUTE everything is- a whale spatula, a happy faced rice spoon, animal plastic sheet cutting boards that bend so you can funnel food into pots/pans easily, bento supply galore, panda print aluminum foil, oh and make up, nail stuff, super soft hand towels, crazy cute cotton kitchen rags, I can't leave the store without walking down each aisle even when I've been there 100 times. Love this place! In Japan it's even better, it's really a dollar store (100 yen shop), here it's 1.50 store... I LOVE DAISO !! BUT BEWARE! Easy to go crazy in the store and buy almost ever cute thing you see! Everything will add up in the end because you just dump all the stuff in your cart/basket thinking "oh it's so cheap" but in the end.. it will add up to more than you thought! Haha I like to just grab stuff as I pass by them in the aisles and am remotely interested in. And then at the very end I control myself and just "filter" out what I don't REALLY need. Only the Japanese can do cheap oh so cute! Everything in this shop is adorable! And as inexpensive as each item is, it's very easy to spend a small fortune at the checkout as you'll be tempted to fill your cart to the brim. So be cautious and take a moment and ask yourself if you really NEED that particular tchotchki or not. I love that unlike other discount stores (cough ahem Dollar Tree 99 Cent Store cough!), this shop is SO clean and organized and so...not ghetto. You really feel like you're getting a good value. At my last visit, I bought so many random, yet useful things, not just for myself, but for my family and friends. I feel like the items here are just more unique, better quality, and a lot cuter. The first time I saw this store I made it within 5 feet of the entrance and turned around and left because I knew how much damage I could do here. As a denizen of Inglewood, stores like this one usually involve a trip to Downtown LA and are way more expensive. But now, just a bit down the 405 and heaven awaits. The only thing comparable to the 99-cent Stores are the prices, otherwise this place is clean, well-lit and organized! You don't have to rummage through stacks of items to find one still wrapped up or undamaged, or wander through overstocked aisles. The food/snack section seems to be limited to one aisle containing lots of candy, various rice crackers and teas as well as a few other things: seaweeds stands out in my mind - oddly, I did not see a lot of ramen which as an inexpensive food I would have thought to see here. I also didn't see any spices or seasonings but I may have missed them. We picked up a bag of green tea mixed with roasted brown rice - it's really good - for the requisite $1.50 - this would easily be 2 or 3 times the price elsewhere. The candies are to die for as were the chewy fruit taffies we picked up. They also had "brand name" candy like Hello Kitty marshmallows. In the kitchen heaven section they had bento boxes, strainers, kitchen tools, and china - great bowls and plates in traditional Japanese patterns as well as Ikea plain. We picked up some Japanese-style cups that I would have gladly paid $5 apiece for. You know, the handle-less cups that have grooves for your fingers and seem to have been made for your hand. The cups were made in Thailand, but hey, they're pretty and I wanted/needed them. I managed to stay clear of the stationery aisle which probably saved me a good $20 based on the things I saw everyone else buying like notebooks and pens. At the time of our visit, there was a large array of silk flowers by the front door - $1.50 is so cheap compared to what you'd pay at Michael's for stuff like that. The gardening section had tons of plain and decorated pots for indoor and outdoor plants as well as lots of gardening tools and gloves that looked worth more than $1.50. Some things are not $1.50, so look for an obvious price tag, like on some kitchen gear we saw and some of the cosmetics. This is definitely my shopping place for Christmas! Imagine, for $6.00 you could have a nice basket, 2 mugs and tea, or a set of blank journals and pens, or a basket with bath goodies - do you see why this place is so well loved? read more

This is a great location for this Torrance store! Very easy to get to and right next to Marukai! Unfortunately it's a bit smaller than the one off of Artesia in Gardena, but it still has quite the selection despite it being smaller. I was able to find great kitchen supplies like a potato masher, ice trays, an adorable pot holder with kitties on it, and even some tongs! And they had a ton of colors to choose from for toilet brushes so I was able to find one that matched my current decor. read more

Sweet bananas, this place is the holy grail for little knick knacks that I don't need. Too bad I am overly indulgent. The store looks very upscale; all the aisles are brightly lit and there is ample space with plenty of aisles and inventory to fill it. Most of their merchandise seemed to be in stock. As for the inventory itself, I was impressed by the broad selection. The store carried everything from beauty products to electronics to stationery. The kitchen section was my favorite because a lot of the hardware is catered to Asian cooking and there are plenty of decorative items for you hardcore bakers out there. Hard to believe they could offer a majority of those items for only $1.50. I came in intending to buy one item but ended up purchasing 11, all for less than $20. I appreciate that their prices are true to the advertisements of $1.50. A lot of other Asian discount stores will say $1 but then half the store will actually be more expensive. I could only find a few items that cost more than $1.50. This store is such a big win and I'm glad I live close by! read more

Whats there not to love about Daiso!? $1.50 for almost 90 percent of the store. You will always find something new and innovative that can be used in your daily life. Every time I walk in to Daiso I end up spending an hour and buying a bunch of stuff that I cannot find anywhere else. If you need something Daiso probably has it. If you have nothing do just go to Daiso and look around I gurantee you will find something that you have been always looking for but could never find. read more
