My partner and I frequent Dallas BBQ whenever we feel like getting ratchet. The degree of ratchetness will dictate whether we end up on 23rd and 8th Ave or here by Columbia Medical Center. Ultimately, we end up getting the same things: some Texas sized frozen wasteland of a drink, a large order of hot wings (sauce on the side, please), and some rice (to balance out the ratchetness). Jennifer L. was right though, this BBQs is hit or miss. Sometimes you can get huge wings and/or a super attentive server. Other times you can get the oldest, scrawniest wings and the server that forgot which table he/she was assigned to. Overall, I'll still come... with lower expectations. I remember Dallas BBQ being much better than what I had the other day. Maybe it was because I only went one other time before and left a bit tipsy from the HUGE texas style Margarita with an extra shot. This time however, I went for lunch and got the early bird special with fries as well as a Mango/Strawberry Margarita no extra shots. The early bird special is quite a deal as it is only $4.99 for a huge half of a rotisserie chicken, soup, corn bread and potato/rice of your choice ( I got fries- since I was craving some good fries). The food looked great when it arrived. I ate the corn bread first and it was good but not memorable/craveable. Then I had the fries which looked like they were good but they were soggy fries and I HATE soggy fries. The chicken was greasy, crispy but bland. I tried in vain to use their bbq sauce on the table but it tasted more of a hot sauce with a hint of bbq sauce. When I asked the waitress for a different bbq sauce, she said it would be $1 extra. The margarita was actually the worse, tasted like sugar dyed syrup topped with some ice- it should be blended! Originally I was gonna go to the times square location but due to my friend running late we decided it wasn't worth going there that late so we stopped here and boy it's packed but we got the table quick. I was at the Washington Heights location this past Fri. May 19, 2023. I was again disappointed that the crispy chicken wings still were served with the same feathers in the past. The plates, plastic glasses, and cheap silverware were all so dingy and nasty looking that I used a wipe to clean before eating. The carpet is nasty and stick when you walk and the entire restaurant needs to be cleaned and even remodeled. Lastly, I have been to all the BBQs and the wings are delicious but all of them have feathers which is disgusting. And $45.00 for some wings, coleslaw, And a drink is outrageous. read more

I asked my boss at NYC IRS department and this is why they were giving 2 stars. I hope they do a investigation and charge the restaurant for service charge. Revenue Ruling 2012-18 classifies automatic gratuities as service charges, which are considered restaurant income. If these service charges are distributed to employees, they are considered wages and not tips. This disrupts the long-standing restaurant industry practice of treating automatic gratuities as tips. While I was visiting my friend at Washington Heights, we wanted to get a somewhat inexpensive and filling lunch that was near the hospital he worked at. We decided to go to this place. It was also one of the restaurants in Washington Heights that was featured on the 2010 Not For Tourists Guide to New York City. Since we came in early, I decided to get an "Early Bird Special", which consisted of half of a rotisserie chicken, fries, a piece of cornbread and a chicken vegetable soup. My friend really liked his chicken wings. It consisted of 5-6 pieces with a tasty dipping sauce. As for my meal, the soup was decently good, the chicken in the soup obviously had a "tastes like chicken" taste, the broth was decent, and the carrots were fairly soft. The fries were fairly soft, not crispy, and slightly lacked the saltiness that made fries almost addicting to eat. I definitely needed some ketchup to make the fries tastier. The cornbread was decent, was a little hard on the outside, but really soft on the inside and was very filling. As for the chicken, it was fairly tasty and filling, the meat was not too dry, but definitely not too moist. As for service, the waitress was really nice, and she was always checking on whether or not we really enjoyed our lunch. Interior was decent, we sat in a well lit room where I could see the streets of the Washington Heights area. Overall, this is a fairly decent and somewhat inexpensive choice for a good and tasty chicken lunch in the Washington Heights area of New York. Would it be, dare say, outrageous to ask for a replacement? Yes. To answer your question, yes it is. Her drink was, point blank, disgusting. It looked like sewer water and tasted, what I would imagine to be, worse. She took two sips- asked for a replacement. No can do. It's a policy. Cool, we get it. The manager comes to the table after he's been summoned. We tell him our complaints as we all feel like this is something that this is something that should be addressed. Not only was he incredibly argumentative, but he also made a very off putting racial remark. The manager, Lewis, singled out a person in our party, stating that he has seen him regularly and requested that he, and the rest of us, not ever return. Then he proceeded to call the security guard. Honestly- the security guard, Eric, should be the manager of this establishment. He is clearly the only person who has ever been introduced to the idea of professionalism. I didn't bother getting an appetizer and went straight for the main course, a half size of henney wings and a side of fries. Usually, I order the sticky wings, which are glazed in a honey sauce, but I wanted to try something different. The henney wings are coated in a dark semi-sweet glaze that I would compare to more of a bbq sauce. Although I enjoyed the henney wings I think I'm head over heels for the sticky wings this chain offers. While my friends enjoyed their meals it seems that we all had a secret admirer who offered all three of us free drinks. Our waitress, who was a sweetheart, wouldn't reveal the identity of the mysterious guy.We had no idea who it was, but decided to enjoy another drink. This time I ordered the pina colada drink with an extra shot, which was regular size. It's called the blue hawaii, I believe, since it has a blue syrup at the bottom of the glass. I always enjoy getting BBQ's pina coladas. After being at the establishment it did start to get crowded around 7ish, but it wasn't overly packed with people like the location in 42nd street tends to get. If I'm this offended by this place, I can't even imagine how a southerner would feel. I had chili to start because it was a frigid day. It wasn't even lukewarm. The cheese wouldn't even melt. I think I have been to almost every BBQ in the city, but I am doing a review for this location which I have been to about 5 times because they are the only BBQ I have ever seen with Tostones and Presidente on the menu,, that gets them an extra star rating. Going to BBQ for over 10 years now. Today I went for lunch on 165th. The restaurant was pretty empty, almost every table open. The host sat me straight under the heat... I HATE HEAT! We went here for dinner to celebrate my in-laws birthday. There were 8 of us and the table was a little tight but that's how all the tables were at this place. My husband and I ordered way too much food. We didn't realize how large the sticky wings were and we had ordered 10. In addition we ordered a rack of ribs, rice, and a side of Mac & Cheese. I work in the neighborhood so I've gotten food there several times... the staff does not pay attention to the order when they are preparing it, numerous times there were items incorrect on my order, at first I would just bring it to the attention of a staff member and they would correct it, but after several errors and having to travel to the bbq's location because of an order that was delivered with errors I decided to speak with the manager because a couple errors is human but errors all of the time is just bad business. When I showed the manager the receipt and the food that was incorrect and did not match the receipt the manager was very unprofessional. He refused to acknowledge that it was an issue, although he did correct my order, I expect for him to acknowledge that these mistakes should not be happening every time I place orders, I am sure that if it happens to me so often that it must also be happening to other people. I am paying for my food and I paid for delivery, I should not have to still travel to the store (after paying for delivery) because my order is repeatedly incorrect.
