I ate here back in the 90's when it was on Valley View (where 85c bakery is now) but never went when they moved to their current location. My parents live in Cypress and when driving over to their house I noticed Dalton's and liked what I saw on yelp. A few weeks ago I took my mom to lunch here and loved it. When you first pull into the parking lot it seems pretty small but if you follow the road around there's another lot. The inside of the cafe is much bigger than it appears from the ouside. There is booths, tables, and a counter. Also a old school dessert case full of goodies, more on that later. With my mom I ordered their Deli club with seasoned fries. This triple decker sandwich had corned beef, pastrami, swiss cheese, cole slaw, and thousand island served on rye bread. This was a MASSIVE sandwich and truly fantastic. High quality deli meat that rivaled Katella Deli. Meat was tender and flavor packed. Loved every bite and I ate every bite. The seasoned fries reminded me of Rally's seasoned fries, very good and big amount. I ordered one to go for my wife and it held up great as take-out and she loved it too. My mom who's a vegetarian ordered a mushroom burger but with a garden burger for the patty. She really liked it. What's awesome is their dessert case had about 6 sugar free dessert choices. My wife who can't eat sugar anymore always feels left out when it comes to dessert so I brought her home a slice of sugar free butterscotch cream pie. I went full sugar with a slice of Boston Cream pie which you don't see anywhere anymore. My mom went with tapioca pudding. Desserts were soooooo good. I took home a cinnamon roll for the next day but ate it that night cuz I couldn't resist. Last Sunday my wife and I went for breakfast which they serve all day. I saw "sloppy joe omelet" on the menu and had to try it. Amazingly enough this odd combo worked magically and I'm already craving another one. It came with choice of muffin so I went with their pumpkin creamcheese which was awesome. My wife had a skillet scramble that came with sausage and potatoes. Wife finished with sugar free banana cream pie and I had a slice of strawberry cake, both delicious. Portions are huge so we took them to go. Great service, food, and dessert. I can't wait to return! I feel bad for not trying it sooner but from I read they recently sold to new owners and the quality has gone up so I'm glad I waited. read more

We've been looking for a breakfast spot that has awesome food and isn't one of those trendy spots where you can't find parking or have to wait forever for a table. Omg we found it!! Daltons cafe is a very unassuming spot. We were starving for breakfast for supper and we left very fat and happy. Because we wanted to try diff dishes. We ordered 4 entrees between the 3 of us. I got absolutely zero pics because we devoured everything immediately. *French toast combo *Pancake combo *Bacon cheese avocado omelette w hash browns and sour dough toast *And a burger w seasoned fries The server & cook were great! Everything came out fast and exactly as ordered even with our specifications. Really good size portions too. With as expensive as Dennys and IHOP are nowadays, gone are the days of any inexpensive little diner. All totaled, it was $86. We've spent a lot more for a lot worse. We couldn't finish everything but it was still delicious the next day. I can't wait to go back! Daltons is definitely in our rotation now. read more

I love exploring options and trying different places but Daltons Cafe really disappointed me. 1) My boyfriend's coffee order was forgotten took a while to get it as I already had my drink. 2) like I said it was my first time back/ My boyfriend first time EVER so we took our time to read the menu, the waitress came 1 time and we weren't ready, she informed us that closed menus shows her that she's ready. Her second time around instantly she goes "Come on guys let's go!" Like we're an inconvenience because we're taking longer to decide what we want to eat????? we should've left right there-- because We weren't bothering her, all we were doing was taking time to decide what we wanted to eat. It was busy but there was 0 excuse for attitude. 3)We ordered biscuits and gravy which had 0 flavor, tasted very plain, but the biscuits were very warm , soft and fluffy.. 4) We also order the Ham breakfast entree, HUGE PEICE OF HAM JUST FOR IT TO GO TO WASTE- tasted like straight SALT ; ham isn't a piece of meat that needs much salt at all & they loaded it with salt, we could see all the salt on the ham! It was horrible.. 5) I ordered the Huevos Rancheros and my flour tortillas weren't cooked all the way AND they were OLD!!!! 6) Not once did our server come and ask us "how's everything tasting ? Are we good ? Do we need anything?" I work in the restaurant industry myself so I am usually very considerate of the servers when they're busy and we don't expect them to come to us 24/7 but honestly it was just a horrible experience in general & as a server ; for new faces to be seen in the restaurant I'd expect decent service with no attitude. read more

I am aware it's a cafe and there a so many menu items that not all can be good, however the soup and salad are a staple and I think Denny's is better. This is my first time here. It is a cute little place with curtains on the windows. There was no wait for a table. The waitress was very friendly. I ordered a chicken salad. It was so good. I knew I would be taking some home. Lots of protein and crunchy chips. Quick drink refills. I mentioned that it was our first time here, and she said I get a free cookie. Went for brunch! Food: 6/10 Great portions but very, very bland. I've never had to add so much salt and pepper to a dish. I ordered the Spanish omelet without cheese and my friend ordered the veggie omelet. They were cooked very well, but we're in severe need of spices. The hash browns were 10/10! Best part of the whole dish. Service: 10/10 The server was so kind, efficient and knowledgeable of the menu. I would come here again just for the service. Ambiance: 8/10 Plenty of seating, clean and pleasant atmosphere. The chairs could use some upholstering however, no matter where I sat on my side of the booth I kept sinking into the seat from lack of cushioning and it wasn't the most comfortable. My friend also had the same issue on her side of the booth. It's a very nice place but could use some updates. There comes a minimum of service that I have come to expect. One is that a waiter check on their guest as they look over the menu. We received out drinks from the greater and waited 20 minutes as our waitress walked by served customers who were seated after us. We got up and let and paid for our drinks. At that point the waitress became defensive and claimed we didn't want her to serve us. Passing us multiple times we have to flag her down to serve us? I don't think so. The food..... enjoyed the 60+ yrs menu (don't be a hater if you're not in the club ) just the right amount of food that was very tasty. 5000 stars! We've been customers for over 10 years idk why I'm barely yelping now! Service is on point and excellent with every waitress. I've tried so many things on the menu. I absolutely love their homemade soup specials. We were fans of soup plantation but daltons is thee best alternative! We love the sautéed mushroom appetizer. It's not breaded, just swimmin in a buttery balsamic sauce. The chicken pineapple sausage is my fave. Everything breakfast is good. We always get a fresh baked muffin as our bread choice and they have a great variety. Dinner is a great variety too. One thing you can't find around here is sugar free dessert options and they always have 3 pie options AND sugar free tapioca! Highly recommended by my kids n I. Absolutely disgusted with my experience at daltons I found a hair in my sandwich and politely asked for it to be replaced. Instead of apologizing and addressing the issue, the staff started discussing the incident loudly, making it extremely uncomfortable. They even commented on how the "hair was only in one part of the sandwich" and that the server assigned to our table was justified in being upset at us. We kindly mentioned the hair and when they took the sandwich away from us proceeded to remove an additional strand of hair from the middle of the sandwich while their coworkers exclaimed "ewww." This kind of unprofessional and unsanitary behavior is completely unacceptable. I will never return to this establishment. We've been to this crazy quilt of a coffee shop several times in the past 2 months. The food, decor & service have a homey charm. It's the opposite of "hip" or trendy but appeals to the person who still says "hip" and/or enjoys food that has a homemade vibe. Originally Dalton's was a fixture on Valley View in Cypress & then years ago relocated to Lincoln Blvd. still in Cypress. Breakfast is served all day & they have an extensive menu offering Specials, Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, something for everyone. Prices aren't exactly low but portions are generous & meals often come with soup or salad & a choice of 2 sides. Beverages are pricy. Coffee, Iced Tea & Sodas are $3.75. They're good on refills. For the coffee that's important because the coffee cups are smaller than most places. They serve Apffels Gourmet Coffee. It can be hot & strong but sometimes it's a tad on the weak side, all this on the same day. The service is extremely friendly & attentive. The crew seems to like each other as well as make customers feel welcome. Here's what we've tried so far: - Ground Beef Steak & Eggs w/home fries & pancakes as the sides. All Good! - Deli Club Sandwich. Excellent! Toasted Rye, Cole Slaw, Swiss & Pastrami (Corned Beef too?). The Mac & Cheese side was surprisingly so-so. - Monte Cristo. Really good! Cheddar cheese instead of Swiss or Gruyere. Excellent Fries. - Pot Roast Omelette. Side of Grits & Rye Toast. Good, although the roast was kind of dry. - Onion Rings. Didn't seem homemade. Not that special. - Fried Chicken. Mashed Potatoes, Mixed Vegetables & Vegetable Soup, Garlic Toast & Gravy on the side. All really good! We've been doing a tour of Cypress lately and after gearing so much about it, we wanted to try Dalton's. We stopped in here after a 6 mile hike so needless to say, we brought our appetites. I'm so happy we gave this place a try because it's the new family favorite. Our server was such a sweet wonderful lady and took the very best care of us. The diner itself is a little dated but I loved that because it gave it such a mom and pop at home feel and that goes right along with their homemade dishes. Server on Saturday morning 8/17 breakfast was super rude. Waited 35-40 minutes for food to discover that both mine and my husbands orders were wrong. She was super defensive and rude and admitted she had delivered our order to another table. She acted annoyed when my husband sent back his order and she didn't bother to pick up his toast because he wanted new toast that would be fresh. This is a very vintage but cute restaurant. Do not expect gourmet meals, but you will definitely get great service, and a hearty meal. I'd passed this place more than one on my way to and from visiting the grave of my Maternal Grandmother at Forest Lawn Cypress, and was always curious as to how their food was. One of the first things you see when you walk through the doors is their baked goods display case with, what else? Their baked goods. That look scrumptious. I need to remind myself to buy one of those delicious-looking blueberry muffins I saw...In any case, Yelpers have categorized Dalton's Diner as, "Comfort Food". Not going to argue there. The environment certainly contributes to that. I ordered the Giant Dalton Burger with a side of Macaroni Salad, and a Raspberry Iced Tea. The picture I took unfortunately doesn't do the burger justice, as it's bigger than it looks in the picture, and way more appetizing! The grilled onions and mushrooms are a great part of the burger, which is cooked Well Done(I prefer Medium Rare, but the burger was still delicious). The Macaroni Salad was delicious, as well, and the Raspberry Iced Tea was refreshing. My eagle-eyed server was on the ball, and ready with a refill offer when my drink was getting low.
