Came here today on Wednesday for a late Father's Day lunch. Arrived around 11:10 AM and the lobby was already packed with impatient idiots that couldn't be bothered to form a line and were hounding the poor manager and two cashiers for their turns based on numbers which weren't even called yet. I'd feel more bad for the staff if it weren't for the lack of line enforcement on their end. They have the line dividers but as it stands, they were barely a decoration. We were seated promptly after being skipped (our number was 33 and two cashiers called for 34 and 35 without ever calling 33 and we had to go up and ask instead). Paid around $86 for 1 adult and 2 seniors. Seniors 65+ get 10% off, just show ID. The interior ambiance gave off a similar vibe to its predecessor, Kome. Except that it was less vivid and a bit dull in comparison. The food was...lowkey worse than Kome albeit quite similar in quality. Less sushi options compared to them as well, basically only some California rolls with its sub variants. Since it was lunch, there were limited options. A lot of the stir-fry food was heavy on the flour, msg, sauce, etc. I tried, emphasis on tried, to enjoy my experience and meals as best I could but between the clientele with disgusting eating habits and the oppressing staff that kept hovering over the tables, eyeing us, it was difficult. Honestly, I don't blame the staff as much and I understand that they have to watch to make sure finished plates are cleared from tables and no one occupies tables that weren't assigned to them. Coincidentally, I did see two old ladies doing that and they were given a warning by a staff member which was oddly satisfying to watch; gotta love a free show with a meal. Initially, I had seen pics of self serve boba tea and ice cream cups from other reviews that mildly caught my attention. Too bad they didn't have the boba during lunch. Might be a dinner or soft opening only kinda exclusive. The ice cream was just ok. The vanilla was super bland and lacked sweetness so it's perfect for you folks that can't handle sweets. The chocolate was very chocolatey but also a bit to artificially bland. Didn't bother trying the strawberry. The restrooms were ok. Not too dirty not too clean. One thing I did notice is that they basically just reused the old toilets that were there already from their predecessor and they didn't bother to replace them even though there were old brown stains on the covers and wear and tear, here and there. Overall, I think I'm being pretty generous here with the 3 stars. Most of yall would just skip straight to 1 or no stars. I'd say this is more of a one time experience and not worth going more than necessary. Oh right almost forgot, towards the end of our meal, there was another show. An old guy was eating and suddenly his eyes closed and he was unresponsive to his wife and friends. The manager even called an ambulance. Dull, lifeless, and possibly questioning its purpose. Oysters that were slimy in all the wrong ways and not fresh enough to justify the risk. I stared at them like they owed me money. Crab legs that were cold, stiff, and felt like cracking into disappointment itself. Korean ribs that were so salty I felt like I licked a seasoning packet. I love flavor, but this was a sodium ambush. Fried chicken wings with a batter so hard it could chip a molar. Not crunchy--crusty with intent to harm. Mala soup station with udon noodles cut into sad little 3-inch segments like they gave up halfway through the pot. You had one job, udon. I tried to stay optimistic. I really did. I made multiple rounds, hoping to find at least one redeeming item. Maybe the fried rice? Dry. The fruit? Questionable. The dessert table? Looked like it had seen better decades. And the vibe? Dim lighting, awkward silence, and that lingering energy of "we reopened, but should we have?" I came in chasing nostalgia, but by the end, I was just chasing my dignity. The buffet had a lot of food choices including malatang and bottle Chinese drinks with ice cream cups where you help yourself. There is a large variety to choose and the food was decent. My biggest complaint is the restaurant and counters not being cleaned regularly including the floors. A second issue was that they did not allow me to take the drink out unless I paid additional around $3.00. Of course I left the drink with one of the cashier as they ran after me regarding the drink. It wasn't the best, but then I did not want it to go to waste. At the end it went to waste anyways. They would have been better letting the customer take it which I found would have been a waste either way to them. This did not show great service but then again the service was mediocre but expected considering the restaurant was not cleaned often and wait staff standing around chit chatting rather than work. Not a lot of seating so you're standing and waiting for your table. Food variety is alright. Not much protein option. Mostly carbs. Not flavorful and the mala tang side is a long wait. A group of 10 us came to Daly Buffet to celebrate my sister's birthday. Unfortunately, the reception manager treated us in a way that was both rude and discriminatory. After finishing our meal, we attempted to leave with a half-full bottle of water. The manager stopped us and spoke to us in an unprofessional and disrespectful manner. What made this experience worse that we noticed other customers (both Chinese and White) leaving with food/drinks and not being stopped. This inconsistentcy in treatment left us feeling discriminated against, which was very hurtful and unacceptable. The staff near the food station area need to wear gloves and hats. FOUND HAIR in the food was not a pleasant experience, especially on the soft opening day. Food was overall good and in good supply. Drinks from the soda fountain to the teas in the fridge were all free. Me and my parents did not leave dissatisfied. However, there were some things that could be improved upon. For starters, when I tried getting food at the bbq section I did not get my bbq items back as the server gave them to other people. I did not tell the server as I did not want to cause a fuss, but this shows a certain lack of attentiveness at needs to be addressed. Lastly and most importantly, maintenance could be better. While the atmosphere was casual and overall clean, there were pockets of unclean and wet floors that did not even have wet floor signs over them. A woman actually fell in front of the table me and my parents were sitting at. This needs to be improved upon because this dangerous and could result in further injuries. In the end my experience was good. While there were glaring problems that do need to be looked at, I understand the buffet is relatively new and is trying to find it rhythm. Had lunch today, 2nd day of soft opening since on the first day lunch wasn't offered - only dinner. Arrived at 12:00 noon. Took us an hour to get seated - when there were seats and tables available. They give you a number for your party and when called, you need to pay first then they seat you. They were very slow - maybe because it's still new. It's basically the old KOME. Lots of selections, food is good. They need faster sushi makers as the sushi ran out fast and need more variety as with the sashimi. Drinks are included which is a plus. Hopefully they don't start charging for drinks in the future. Some plates and glasses weren't all that clean and restrooms were also not clean. Lots of seating, wait was actually not as long as expected. It is basically Kome again. Sushi, malatang, and teppanyaki stations. Seafood was not the most fresh imo (crab would stick to the shell, raw oyster seemed a little fishy, etc) but still pretty good. The drink station had lots of variety (milk tea, fruit tea, Thai tea, taro milk tea, sodas, lemonade, teas) and was self serve. There was both cooked abalone and abalone soup as well (the soup comes out in small batches at a time). There was also hot and soup soup as well as Chinese seafood soup at the soft opening. We went as a family to celebrate my mom's and my cousin's birthdays, which are one week apart. I called the restaurant the day before to ask about their prices and to confirm their birthday specials. The person I spoke with told me that birthday celebrants eat for free as long as there are four paying adults with IDs -- which is also stated on their menu. There were 11 of us total, including one child. When we arrived, we informed the staff of our party size and showed the celebrants' IDs. That's when they told us that the free meal only applies if the visit is within two days before or two days after the celebrant's birthday. This condition was never mentioned during my phone call and is not stated anywhere on the menu. I explained to the front desk staff that this detail was not indicated on the menu nor communicated to me over the phone. Grill food very good if you get in line before a lot of people await cookers grilling, not super fast. Hot pot soup same wait time, very good bone broth, veggies selection. Dim sum good, steamed. Drinks excellent, under Tome you had to prepay for drinks. Now you just help yourself. No waiting for servers to refill soda under the old regime. Ice cream had chocolate and strawberry flavor, average creamy taste. No vanilla today. Servers were excellent, took away used plates, napkins on table so no need to keep asking. Overall, buffet was an improvement over Tome and the previous buffet. Food is a little better. Overall, 3.5 stars, round up to 4 stars out of 5. No pictures this time. When you finally get a number, it's an hour wait. No place to sit so your just standing for an hour in an unorganized messy receptionist area. Only take reservations for 20+ people. Food was decent, very good selection for $40. Even has a senior discount of 10% for 65+, thought that was a nice touch. I liked their selection of teas, but wished there were unsweetened tea options. I picked a bottled drink that was 60 grams of sugar, OMG . Abalone, crab legs, clams, crawfish, all were fresh, delicious and popular. Not so sure about the raw oysters, kind of big, and wasn't that fresh, would not get those again. I was really excited to eat here because I used to love Kome, the restaurant that was previously in this spot. Kome had great food and delicious desserts, and I was interested to see if Daly Buffet would be just as good. Unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. The sushi tasted a bit strange and not very fresh, the food didn't look appetizing, and there weren't many dessert varieties. The ice cream seemed very similar to the kind you'd get in a hospital, which was a bit odd. I only went up for food once because of how unappetizing the foods looked. Also, the whole place seemed dirty especially the bathrooms. The sink was flooded, the floors were wet, and toilet paper was scattered all over the stalls.
