Sometimes a large group of us will go to the Raleigh location after church on Sundays for a coastal Benedict or two. This time I had to be near Duke this morning so met a friend at the Cary location. Also got a side of the brussels sprouts and they were delicious as well. The bartender did an amazing job making my drink called the cold snap. My friend and I shared the Peach Gorgonzola Salad, Voodoo Trout, Yellow Curry Pistachio Chicken and Coconut Cake. Gorgonzola is first cousin to blue cheese and not a very subtle flavor but the peach salad was beautifully presented, light, slightly tangy and perfectly balanced. The chicken had soba noodles and the trout had mahogany fire noodles. Both were absolutely delicious and I usually don't care for noodles much. The trout was perfectly cooked with one of the most complex and delicious sauces I've ever tasted. Thai basil, ginger, cumin, garlic, coconut, shellfish sauce, with shrimp, cilantro, snow peas and tomatoes. There was a tiny bit of heat (spice) that was absolute perfection in terms of balance. The coconut cake was a yellow cake with a white frosting. Comfort food texture without being heavy. There was a delicate drizzle of lemon or caramel on top...we couldn't tell but it was delicious and I'm glad we didn't skip desert. We did end up taking some leftovers home but ate a lot when we were there. The thing that surprised me the most was I was full but not stuffed. Somehow, the very hearty, earthy, food wasn't heavy. I've never been to France or Italy, but based on the way I've heard people describe the food there, Maxmillion's is most likely on par with that. I'm picky about every aspect of my food and I couldn't come up with even one tiny complaint.

He didn't introduce himself and stated that he will get us waters and asked if we wanted something else. We received the waters quickly. Then, they combined and were doing two separate menus. Now, they combined the menus and switch it up every couple months. At 9:50am, we ordered. I got the strawberry butter French toast with scrambled eggs and bacon. The other party got the cinnamon sugar waffles with bacon and side of cheese grits. At 10:02am, we received the food. Food Quality: 3/5 -At 9:52am, waiter brought over complimentary biscuits. The butter on top was visible and it was paired with a strawberry jam. The biscuits were soft, fluffy, and down right delicious! -Cheesy Grits: You must stir it because the cheese is at the bottom melting. My date stated "it's good grits" -Bacon: The first piece of bacon I tasted was not warm at all and was chewy. Of my 3-4 pieces of bacon, only a small piece was warm and crispy like I expected. The biggest problem overall was the kitchen consistency. My mom's turkey burger was only halfway cooked, and both original meals came out cold, which was disappointing. Another issue was the environment that day, it was extremely hot inside, especially with the heavy crowd, because the A/C wasn't working. I really hope they got that fixed in time for the hotter weather because it made dining uncomfortable.
