The guy was done with my smog check faster than I could write this review. I'm not sure he did all the visual inspection items (because those are what takes time) but that's perfectly fine with me. Went in for a smog and was quoted 50 dollars. I asked why is it so expensive since I was accustomed to 35$ smog in Sacramento. Regardless I said I would like to get it done anyways and had him run the smog check. Prior to the smog I had no check engine light. Immediately after leaving the station my check engine light came on. I ran the code got an EVAP leak. I went to check the usual areas everything looked fine except for the gas cap. Someone ripped out the rubber seal and bent the gas cap. No one else came close to this area accept the smog technician. I believe he was upset that I questioned the smog price and damaged my gas cap. Do not recommend this location they will damage your vehicle. If I did not know how to repair these things I'm sure this repair would have been costly at a mechanic shop. Sad that they would take advantage of people like this. Hope I saved you unnecessary repairs with this review. read more

I needed a Smog Test in order to renew my car Registration and was referred to "Daly City Test Only" by Eric Steeg, the owner of Masters Auto-body, a trustworthy Body Shop on Mission Street. (I live on the Coast and had called Harloe's on Airport Street in Moss Beach to get an appointment but after waiting several days with no call back l called Eric for a recommendation.) I called the business to see if l needed an appointment and how long it might take. 1.) They answered their phone right away. 2.) They said it would take only ten minutes. 3.) They were open until 6:00 pm so l knew l could get there easily after work. I am writing this review to assure you, if you need to get a SMOG TEST quickly, this is the place that won't make you wait. They take credit cards and l was out of there in less than 10 minutes! I still had time to get over to Trader Joe's! $60 for a smog check! Feeling ripped off here but it's convenient for last minute smog tests without appt. We ask what's the difference between Star Certified and regular smog test and he just says, "Star is the only real difference" and charges me $60. Uh, what. My dad was here to get the Star Smog Test and paid $60. I was here for a normal smog test and paid $60. Is this the norm?? Regardless, I'm not coming back. I learned other places can be $35-40 and I'm paying $60 for the same thing!? Beh! A perk is that you can drop by without appointment and you'll be on your merry way in 10 minutes. I sent in my car registration without reading the instructions. So DMV sent it back telling me I needed to get a smog check. I didn't have any idea where to go or how much a test cost, but my mom told me that Daly City Test Only was the place to go. I drove up on Saturday at 5:15pm with the intention to check their hours and come back when they open. But when I parked and got out my car, the guy came up to me and asked me if I needed a smog check! How did he know? So he told me to give him 10 minutes and it'll be done. I sat in the wait room/office, played on my iPhone, and soon enough he came in and told me my car passed. I paid my 60 bucks, and I was in and out without an appointment. Can't complain. read more

Don't go here... was trying to be nice and asked the guy's name, he said my name is not important. Wow that's good customer service... On my first test... Passed visual test... but failed emissions... 2nd test free: failed visual test?? WTF?? I passed it a few days ago, but now you want to fail me... freakin weird... didnt give me an explanation why... he just told me to go to your mechanic and get it fixed... Dont go here.. I went right before closing and they fit me in. Took only about 10 mins. It's a shack. I passed. Price was not bargain basement, but I needed it done ASAP and it was on the way home from work. Call for price because I can't recall exactly. Update 4/20/13. I am still going here for smog checks and still a satisfied customer! It was $60 this year. I only had to wait about 5 minutes with one car ahead of me, but sometimes it is busier and you have to wait a bit. It's a one-man operation and he works as fast as he can. Good if you only drive a Honda or Toyota. They don't know anything about VWs. I told the tech that my car wasn't equipped with a piece of equipment because it is not a carburated vehicle. Passed the emissions test but they failed me visually because it was missing the equipment that is not equipped on a Fuel Injected vehicle. They weren't willing to hear me out. read more
