I first of all want to say, it takes a whole lot for me to write a negative review... and it pains me to have to say this, but this business is not what it used to be. I have been coming here for well over 5 years now, and I hate to admit that the service has been going down hill for quite some time.. the treatment I received this season is not as attentive, and the workers don't care about your experience there like they use to. I noticed the food quality and produce is the same- which is great; but the quality of the customer service has decreased tremendously. No one greets you when you go up to the back counter to order your take out food. I had to wait for the staff to be done talking with one another and laughing around while the staff poured the staff food. I had to address placing an order for myself - knowing I had been standing there for over 3 minutes with no one in-front of me on line, just waiting for the workers to finish their fun. It's fine to have a friendly work environment- but hi, hello- you are at work- and these are your customers. Loyal customers at that. 5 years coming here and I'm sad to say I won't be returning. I had asked for an iced coffee- which I order every morning I go there. And I asked for an iced latte for my partner. I remember there has been the same young girl making my latte.. and I get that you have to have milk in it/ but don't make the entire latte basically milk. And so this is over the third time ( 3RD TIME) we have gotten coffee from them and he hated his coffee, and complains about how milky it is. Me feeling horrible, I tell him to take it back to get and get an iced coffee instead of the latte- and so she tells him " you have to pay for it anyway since he ordered it" I looked at her and was so confused as to why she would tell us that we need to pay for something we asked for them to take back. Knowing the taste was too milky and not how a good latte should taste. It's the simple fact that the manager Deanna, she's been working there for years- she knows my face and I know her. This SAME exact situation happened last year where I came to her at the front register to ask her to make my latte over since it was incredibly milky. And she helped me just fine last year, I gave her back the entire latte - it's not like I drank more than two sips before handing it back to her. It's the simple fact that she tried to charge me for an item I returned back to them fully. And the fact that this has happened multiple times and I reminded her of it, and she still was saying that since I ordered it and they made it I have to pay for it... that is not how customer service works. I have worked in various fields of customer service my entire life & I am still dumbfounded by Deanna and this other young girl's words. All 3 of us were disappointed in something we had ordered. My other friend ordered a sandwich and a smoothie and he said his smoothie was not good, and way too watery. I've spent hundreds of dollars here over the years, easily- so for you to look at me and treat me with such disrespect is insulting and rude. I expected much more from a local family business that's been in my routine for years on end. All I asked for was an iced coffee instead of a latte and for the situation to be handled as it was is quite disappointing in terms of how this business is looking. I would consider the owner recommend a supervisor for matters like this because clearly there is a disconnect. read more

Bugs in flour- they refused to refund. My husband bought a 5 lb bag of flour, brought it home and realized something was wrong when the flour wouldn't knead right. I checked and it was only 10 days out from expiring and had weevils ( bugs that eat flour and like products) inside. I immediately brought the flour back to damarks to exchange it- they refused because I 'didn't have a picture'. Even though the flour itself was right there with the weevils inside for them to inspect. Was happy to find this place but either they need to update their menu or retrain kitchen staff. Ordered a few bowls- Thai steak bowl, bulgogi bowl, tofu bowl , veggie bowl and a tuna melt panini. Thai steak bowl- wasn't spicy just a flat steak with the sweet chili sauce barely applied . No roasted peanuts, basil pickled chilies sesame seeds, peanut ginger dressing or lime. It was just a quick fried rice with bits of cilantro and a wedge of lemon. Nothing Thai about it. Bulgogi bowl- flat steak no spice again no kimchi or dressing. It was just a bowl of rice with with the veggies described with no flavor. Veggie bowl- chick peas were not "citrus braised" and there was no harissa. Tofu bowl- we asked for chick peas to be added which the happily did. But the miso ginger dressing tated more like the ginger dressing from a Japanese restaurant. The tofu wasn't even cooked or heated. Just cut into chunks and thrown on top. Tuna melt panini- seriously gross. They did it on a Latin style Torta not a ciabatta. The tuna had way too much dressing and when combined with the Russian dressing it was just a sloppy mess and the cheese were either thick slices or just too many layers of AMerican clicked cheddar that did nothing to save it. Coleslaw- was coleslaw nothing fancy Fries- ask for them to be cooked a bit extra and they will be crispier and hot. Steak taco- meat was over cooked and rubbery and had zero hot sauce, the onions and cilantro were added as an after thought. Mahi mahi tacos- fish grilled to a nice rubbery consistency they only used one tortilla per taco so it fell apart the minute you tried to pick it up. The meat and fish dept is truly top notch, butcher John is first rate and has his own rub and marinade. Great meats, prime and angus. Fresh ground burgers. Over priced, got the order wrong, turkey bacon looks microwaved. Asked for an egg white sandwich with cheddar turkey bacon on whole wheat bread. Some how ended up with a tortilla with microwaved turkey bacon American cheese and egg whites. Barely any egg white in the wrap, ended up taking out the bacon because it was gross. Like another reviewer, I'm incentivized to write a review of my own after reading negative ones that seem unfounded. When the new market first opened, the space had minimal shelving. I don't remember whether the bakery or pizza was offered, but I do recall it feeling empty. However, over the last year as they have added specialized sections, more shelving and increased their offerings, they have become our go-to place for fish, meat, milk and bread. (I have purchased produce, but only as a supplement to farm markets). It's puzzling that some have noted a negative attitude from staff or long lines. Even during the height of the season, I have only experienced friendly service, reasonable prices and a line that moves quickly. The butcher/fish monger is worth a trip alone - we adore him. His marinated steak is excellent. Seafood is local, super fresh and at the best prices around. The muffins rival round swamp in quality but are less expensive. We have found stop and shop and IGA to price gouge during the summer months but so far Damarks has remained reasonable. Even if some pricing is similar, the convenience of its location and small size make it essential. I also like the idea of supporting a local family business (and feel this way about all the small local businesses.) This store especially because I've come to rely on it and am grateful that there's one like it in springs. read more

I just spent $16 on a fried flounder sandwich. What I got was a burnt Kaiser roll, with two dry pieces of fish and very little tartar sauce. It is so dry, and has no taste (other than burnt). I'm so disappointed. I will not be going back. This sandwich should have not left the kitchen like this. We visited Damark's for the first time recently with hopes it would be a less stressful shopping experience than in some of the larger markets nearby, and thankfully, it was! It's a market that checks so many boxes - groceries, produce and prepared foods. Even baked goods which were delicious. We so appreciated the staff wearing gloves and masks. They also offered gloves for shoppers, and also had small packs of face masks for sale. The checkout process was totally sane with social distancing respected. When we brought it to their attention, they could have cared less. The customer service was atrocious. They probably won't care about this review, as there is not much in this area, but take it from us, drive a little further to get quality food. The renovation is really nice. I was excited when I went in to pick up a takeout order. We ordered two large pies.. one Margherita and one Classic Cheese. We also ordered two heroes - one Philly Steak & Cheese and one Chicken Parm. I paid about $62 for the order, and was fine with that considering that's the town we live in, amiright? Went home, opened up the pizza for my family... and let's just say we had a good laugh. We totally felt burned after this meal. Like come on now...you cannot charge those prices for that product. I can honestly say that all four things were tasteless. Absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. We asked the kids what they thought, and honest to god we all agreed that the Classic Cheese tasted like a Cheese Pizza from Chuck E Cheese. It was uncanny! The Margherita tasted like straight up oil. It was so unseasoned all you could taste was the oil streaming off of the coagulated fresh mozzarella that wasn't cooked properly on top. The Chicken Parm was tender, and actually pretty good. I wouldn't say it was knock your socks off, but I was happy to see they cooked their cutlets properly. The steak on the Steak & Cheese was SUPER tender.. but again tasteless. They def fried up some SteakUms (which i'm fine with) and didn't put a single sprinkle of salt or pepper on anything in there. It too, tasted like just pure oil. It seems like they have a really good setup.. they just need some serious help in the kitchen. This is one of my favorite hidden gems! A great spot to stop for a quick to-go lunch on the way to the beach. Their sandwiches are incredible..deli fresh! Fresh meats and cheese, made exactly how you want it on soft rolls. They have ice cream, smoothies, cold drinks, beer, delicious salads (greek salad, pasta salads, seafood salads). One of my favorite items here at the hot counter is the salmon. You get a reasonable sized, moist, flavorful piece of salmon with rice and a vegetable for under $15. I love their ice coffee as well and they sell local goodies like stuff from Tate's Bake Shop. I can't say enough about this place! I love it! read more

This is a really nice little grocery shop near Three Mile Harbor. While I think there are some prepared items that are expensive, I was able to get my staple groceries for a reasonable price. Something is wrong in the Springs! After a lengthy renovation of well over a year our go to deli transformed as a deli/market. Everything is so disappointing. The pizza is tasteless. The eggs were awful and so expensive. What place charges 3.00 extra for a bagel?? Next the service is ridiculous. You have to get all of your order completed before paying or eAting. So of your eggs are done first, and your sandwich takes an Extra 10 minutes to make, you can't pay before it is done. Then you first have to wait online to pay. Place is an epic fail !! read more

I feel compelled to respond to the mean spirited reviews of this establishment. This is my familys go to place. Long time local people have done a wonderful job with the renovation. They provide everything you could need at reasonable prices. Some of our favorites- excellent wood fired pizzas- an entire pizza $12. Prime meats- we love the marinated steaks at a great price and so delicious. Seafood! Shellfish a bit less expensive than seafood stores in the area, and very fresh. Any produce you could want. The prepared food is excellent. Best lobster salad ever at the best price in the area. Roasted vegetables, potato latkes, salmon cakes, lasagna, salads. My daughters favorite- chicken pot pie. Sushi. Delicious pastries. And they also carry pet food as well as cleaning products and toiletries. Anything you need, they have. In the morning they have not only breakfast sandwiches, but healthy breakfast "bowls " . You can even enjoy your food while sitting at an indoor table. In my opinion, Damarks a great addition to East Hampton. Try it. read more

In years past, the little white house that was Damark Deli was always a place for warm hospitality, delicious food and, remarkably for East Hampton, fair prices. In 2017, when the owners embarked on building a much bigger market, I winced. "Here goes the neighborhood" I thought. Their prepared food prices are going to be right up there with Round Swamp Farm ($25 for a plain salad!). But NO WAY did that happen. Damark is such a welcome mecca in the Northwest Woods of East Hampton. It's our own Dean & Deluca but with the same fair prices and warm hospitality as the old days. The prepared food is so much better than Citarella, Simply Sublime, and either of the IGAs. And, it's also an expanded market that truly makes for one-stop shopping. For food lovers in the Northwest Woods, our neighborhood has become so much more of a livable destination since the Damarks recreated and expanded our market. read more
