Lamb Gyro Sandwich w. a Greek Salad
    Kimberly G.

Had a wonderfully fresh, delicious and healthy lunch today at Damas Mediterranean Grill. It was my first time visiting and I truly enjoyed every bit of my lunch. I ordered a Lamb Gyro w. a Greek Salad. The Gyro was everything I was looking for it to be, but honestly the show stopper was the Greek Salad. I KNOW, the salad! Cold, crunchy, well proportioned between veggies, feta, dressing, olives. Just magnificent. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Chicken Shawarma platter as well. The chicken had a deliciously charred flavor but was still juicy and tender. My husband is a hummus snob, so he ordered it as his side to give it a try and it got the 'thumbs up'. We will definitely be making another stop here in the future!

Highly recommend this Syrian restaurant serving halal dishes. Service was fast and good. Restaurant was excellently clean and smelled clean. There's plenty of free parking. There's free coffee (decaf and regular k pods and Lipton tea bags. There's a lot of great Middle Eastern choices, and the place is popular - lots of customers and food pickup. I ordered the chicken shawarma platter, it was delicious! It came with rice and choice of side. I had the thrilled vegetables, and they were so perfect! Good also came with garlic sauce and a spicier tomato sauce. So delicious. The flavors were perfect. Don't miss this place.

Located in a shopping strip, lots of parking. Casual setting, most people did pick up while I was there. Picture menu is always great! You order at the counter and they give you a pager and will page you when it's ready. I got the combo meat, beef and chicken shawarma, it came with rice, pita and a choice of side. I got the Mohammara, it's so good. Everything was delicious, rice was so flavorful and meat was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Loved it! Highly recommend it your in the area.

Def the WORST Mediterranean food I've had. So got the chicken kabobs and spent $22.. ZERO taste. I tried to eat some rice and chicken but it LITERALLY had zero flavor.. no salt. The rice isn't TOO bad but I did get the garlic sauce on the side which actually is pretty good which made the portion that I had just taste like garlic but it was better than what it tasted like before which is nothing. I asked the girl at the front desk if she had sumac and she said no.. I literally said it's right behind you then she gave it to me. The salad is disgusting, don't waste your time. They charged me extra for pita bread but didn't include it in the bag.. Def don't recommend. Super small portions too.. not worth it at all.

Food below average. No service as it's mostly take away or self service. Bare ambience. Will not come back.

And that means a lot coming from me, I have tried many places and have a very high bar. We started with the mezza platter- hummus was my absolute favorite (which really sets the tone for what the other dishes will be like). SO creamy, soft, smooth, light, but flavorful. Destroyed the platter. Then we shared a chicken Greek salad and chicken kabob platter that came with rice and grilled veggies. Chicken was so juicy and soft on both dishes. Perfectly seasoned. Chicken kabob platter was piping hot and fresh. Rice and veggies perfectly cooked. The owner came to our table to ask how everything was. He was so sweet, and so were the ladies waiting on us. We are absolutely coming back asap- and bringing the kids!

The staff was extremely friendly, the restaurant itself is cute and cozy, yet there are plenty of tables. And the food... so tasty! I ordered the chicken shawarma, which was absolutely delicious. The portion was quite generous (it's the kind of portion that my wife and I would split, while also ordering an appetizer... but alas. I was traveling solo for this trip). Cute place, friendly service, delicious food, excellent value. If I'm ever back in Malvern, I'd definitely come back here!!!

You order at the counter and your food is brought to you at the table of your choice. In spite of this, we arrived early in the evening and received a fair bit of attention right at the table. We started with an order of light and flavorful falafel which arrived with a serving of vinegary salad and a small cup of hummus. For our meals, we each had Kebaps, chicken for me and donner (shaved beef and lamb) for my husband. Perfectly spiced, served with more salad, tzatziki sauce, and a side of rice with a scattering of vegetables. All of these flavors melded together to make a delicious meal. For dessert, we shared an order of Kazandibi (Turkish crème brulé) - served cold, topped with crushed pistachios. Scrumptious! Highly recommend this out-of-the-way restaurant!

No spice, no heat, no substance- they were over fried dry balls of cornmeal. While I was there, someone came in and ordered a box of falafel. I was amazed and feel like I'm missing something. However, their lamb and chicken and adana were on point and reminded me of my visits to Istanbul.

I'm providing this honest review as a constructive feedback for improvement…read more We came across this place online but were only able to try it recently...I was honestly disappointed by many things: First, when a place advertises shawarma meat and posts videos of the famous Lebanese shawarma revolving cone that grills the marinated meat as the cone turns, you would expect that the shawarma plate you order is an authentic shawarma meat cut off the shawarma cone...unfortunately, this was not the case at cafe baladi. I respect the owner who's advertising authentic homemade Lebanese food but the shawarma meat we got was not an authentic shawarma meat...this was meat that was cooked either in a pan or in the oven and was not tender because it was not probably marinated and it's not grilled on the shawarma cone. Placed that have the famous shawarma cone you can usually see in the restaurant either behind the counter or through a window in the back - this was not the case. Second the plate included the choice of hummus or baba ghannouj and tabbouleh...we picked baba ghannouj and we got the tabbouleh...again, the baba ghannouj did not taste at all authentic nor homemade...it tasted like the baba ghannouj in a conserved can that you find in grocery stores. Authentic baba ghannouj is made from grilled eggplant tahini lemon juice and salt. Third, the Lebanese tabboule is made from finely chopped vegetables (parsley, tomatoes, onions, lemon juice, and burgul). Unfortunately again this tabbouleh was not finely chopped and it lacked the burgul. We were really disappointed. The only positive thing was that the service was quick.

I love when this happens…read more With no agenda, we ended up in West Chester PA (vs Westchester NY.) A cute town with an inordinate number of restaurants, we peered into windows and read menus. "The Mediterranean Restaurant" sparked interest. Infusing Lebanese and Italian cuisines, they garnered great reviews. Also BYOB. After running to Carlinos for a bottle of red, we took our chances at Mediterranean without a reservation. (Do indeed make one if you come for dinner.) I chatted with the couple across from us. "This is the best restaurant in West Chester," the fellow said. They live here and have been to them all. We started with what's called a Maza Platter: customer's choice of four appetizers. I selected feta & olives, tabouli, hummus and baba ghanoush. Delish!! (Unlike my husband, I wasn't a fan of feta, but this feta was infinitely better than anything I've had before.) The spreads are made inhouse. The cheese isn't. T raved about the lamb kabob, which was likely grilled. I in turn recommend their falafel encrusted chicken. Chef isn't afraid to spice things up and everything was noticeably fresh. Even the sides were stand-out. The aforementioned couple recommended Mediteranean's apple pie for dessert, a seemingly odd choice. They said it's baked in the restaurant's adjoining bakery. Since they ran out of ice cream -- what's pie if it's not a la mode?! -- T and I shared baklava. Two thumbs up. Homemade, not saturated in syrup. I'd like to give a shoutout to Jason, our delightful and efficient server. He does the restaurant proud. Note that Mediterranean has been in West Chester for 29 years. (That's a virtual lifetime in the restaurant world!) Prices we thought reasonable, and portions generous.

The pitas are cold and tasted worse than what you can get at Giant. Sautéed mushrooms are flavorless and in a mushroom water. Meat pie tasted like unseasoned, old meat with tomatoes. The entrees weren't any better. Ran out of beef. Not sure how one does that on a day with like 3 tables. Tried the special soup, which we sent back. The bolognese was gross. Tasted sort of like Chef Boyardee, but worse. The had to argue with the "chef" to even take it off the tab. She suggested we'd be better off eating at home. We agree. McDonald's would have been a step up. It seems like they just don't have any spices or salt in that kitchen. Plus the servers would just disappear for ages. It appeared that this was our server's first job in food service. Service was rather slow. And hour in, no entrées. It's in an hold house, which was cute. Most tables are upstairs. If you want Mediterranean food, you'd be better off cooking something from the Betty Crocker cookbook.
