It was a blast from the past to come by here on Friday night and have dinner. We really love dining at Woodys's and we've been out of the area for a while so it was great to visit again! One really nice thing after all our travels lately is that the restaurant has not raised its prices. It's the same menu for meals with the addition of pasta and minus a couple of the higher price steaks but they still have specials that are available. We saw one of the friendly servers, Dianne, who remembered us and even remembered the kind of food we like. We ordered the salmon with the Yukon gold potatoes and no brussels sprouts! We were enjoying the crudites with ranch dip and the delicious soft baked bread with wonderful butter when the delectable salmon arrived, sitting atop a mound of the buttery Yukon gold potatoes, with multi colored cauliflower and broccoli. It's a memorable place for the views of Del Mesa, a beautiful assisted living community up on the mesa. We will return here again and again whenever we visit Carmel for a dose of homey nostalgia! read more

I just want to reiterate how wonderful this restaurant is. The food is incredible, the drinks are perfect everytime thanks to Christine, the bartender, and the service is always amazing. Peggy and George especially are such great people and go out of their way to make our family feel comfortable. I also love the old Hollywood ambience. We had the worst service at Woodys at Del Mesa. I had a hamburger, it did not come with lettuce, tomato or onion, only bacon and cheese. Tried to get the waitresses attention but she never looked at us. Very disappointed. read more

Thanksgiving weekend at my brothers in our childhood home in Carmel is always amazing, but our immediate family ( 4 adult siblings and families) now numbers more than 20 ranging 6 decades. Woodys at Del Mess was a fabulous place to gather for dinner on the eve before Thanksgiving Day. Drinks flowed, apps were consumed, the cousins ran around and interacted with other kids. Cozy ambiance and lots of tolerance gad my siblings breathing sighs of relief... There were two extra places needed for out table because some kids wanted adult chairs - no problem! Our raucous crew was immaculately accommodated.with smiles and good vibes only from our sweet and efficient bearded server. We tried out best to keep the noise level to a dull roar and seated in a corner we did not seem to be causing to much strife to fellow diners. Teriyaki steak bites, crab cakes and wings were passed around. My Paloma was perfect and we explained to the seven and 10 year old cousins that chasing the one and two year olds at top speed around the dining room was uncouth. My sand dabs were perfectly prepared and I had been craving them and the twice baked potato is not to be missed. I looked around from the foot of the table realizing that as main courses were being devoured I clocked the fact that our group had never been this quiet in public before. This is a testament to the way the kitchen at Woody's Del Mesa turns out beautifully prepared dishes to suit every palate. I was headed into Carmel for an afternoon performance at the Forest Theater and turned around to go to Woody's at Del Mesa after missing the turn off via Carmel Valley Road. The restaurant is located inside a private condominium complex. Just roll up to the guard booth and let them know you are going to Woody's. They will give you a 4-hour parking pass. Spacious main dining room, bar area and outdoor patio. It has great atmosphere and decoration to match the season. I was seated in the main dining room with a view of the condominiums and the valley. I was promptly served water and asked if I would like a cocktail (it's like brunch). I ordered a Kir Royale for starters and followed up with a McIntyre Merlot to pair with my entree. I ordered Woody's Ranch Burger (bacon strips and all the trimmings) and a choice of fries (or salad). The burger was huge, and I was satisfied for the rest of the day. The lunch and dinner prices are similar. The service was great. The Del Mesa community is friendly. Also, I got to see an Open House on this visit as well. We had heard good things about this restaurant and decided to try it out. My husband started with a glass of the Daou Cabernet Sauvignon and I had the Bernardus Sauvignon Blanc. My husband ordered the Steak Frites and I had the Salmon. Our dinners were excellent. We finished with a half baked chocolate chip cookie accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a dollop of whipped cream. It was so good!! Omg what a delight! Personal disclosure, I wanted to go to this retirement community Del Mesa in Carmel for 30 years. It's a gated community up a very long hill, and when Woodys opened, I knew it was a place I had to see. The restaurant is very old world, upscale, elegant yet we felt very much at home. A sheer delight that the menu is the same as Woody's at the airport, which is phenomenal. I had the Cobb salad, which was enough for four people. Seriously my guest had their famous.BLAT bacon, lettuce, and tomato with a side salad. We also ordered onion rings because we have to order onion rings. They've got a great wine list. Natalie was our server she was super turns out she had come from the airport Woody's I actually found a typo on one of the menus for the wine, which Henry, the maître d' Natalie and myself had a good chuckle over, Chef Tim Ward delivered our meal. I was happy to congratulate him and I highly recommend going to Woody's. If if you've got a special occasion, I'll bet dinner there is something else and the prices are very reasonable We opted for the New York cheesecake, which was so rich the crust was like a cookie. The turkey was succulent, mash potatoes and gravy so flavorful, savory stuffing and the green bean brussel sprouts combo with slivered almonds was the best! The service is generally four stars. Only once in a couple dozen meals was that not true. The food is four stars all the way, and with a choice of three separate seating areas, ambiance to suit! Favorite dishes: Sand dabs, "Wills Fargo" steak bites; Seared Ahi Tuna; Pan Seared Salmon. Oddly, perhaps, but the best Pot Stickers in the Monterey Bay Area, including ethnic restaurants. Many soups are fabulous, changes according to season/ingredients available. Big steak offerings, but I am off red meat by and large, so can't comment from my won experience. The four of us had a fabulous dinner at Woody's last night. The atmosphere is pretty posh. the server Eric was spot on and very entertaining. The portions are generous and the flavors divine! We started with a beet salad, delicious. My mate had the rib eye, I had the Prime rib, superb, delivered by Sonny (chef de cuisine). The gals had Sand dabs, (so-so) and the stew (impressed). Wine list is local focussed and priced fairly (surprising, in good way). We skipped dessert this time, but will be back for the cheesecake. You need to go. Well done Tim, congrats!! read more

Following the success of its original location at the Monterey Airport, Woody's has branched out and opened a 2nd location, this time inside the Del Mesa Carmel community off Carmel Valley Road. Many similar menu items, just a lot closer for those in Carmel Valley. And the Del Mesa location is open to the public, you just need to tell the guard at the Del Mesa gate that you are heading up to dinner at Woody's and they will let you in! read more

A hidden gem off the beaten path in Carmel Valley, just minutes from Carmel proper and well worth the trip. Chef Tim Wood offers a classic American menu but every dish is well prepared and the staff is lovely. We had the ahi tuna salad, sand dabs, pan seared salmon and complimentary ceviche. All was delicious - veggies cooked perfectly and everything hot upon arrival. The surrounding grounds are beautiful too - check this place out for a delicious, low key dinner of great food. The pasta was water logged (they didn't drain it) overcooked and NOT at all what the menu described,z it was inedible. Waitress. Made no effort to correct problem/ you could see puddle of water on neaten overcooked AWFUL pasta. Worst meal ever!! I am so disappointed after hearing so many great things and that everything at Woodys is great. I think not. We've been to Woody's at the Monterey Airport and have enjoyed it, so when we heard Woody's was opening a second location at Del Mesa, 5 minutes from our home, we were excited to try it. First impressions: incredibly attentive staff and great food!! We received a complimentary taster at the beginning of the meal, made with fresh local ingredients, as well as a complimentary ceviche appetizer and a delicious dessert, again made with local ingredients. All of our main courses were excellent. They currently have only wine and beer, no full bar, but that didn't impact our enjoyment of the evening. Henry, the maitre d', is super personable as was the rest of the wait staff. We wish them great success. read more
