I live in Myrtle Beach, so I have been to Damon's during the tourist season, and in the "I live here" season. Over the past year or so, the quality of the food has declined. My husband, son and I went to Damon's to celebrate my birthday about 5pm. My son had a burger and fries, my husband had ribs and fried shrimp with a baked potato and salad, and I had prime rib with a baked potato and salad. The burger and fries were very good. The salads were excellent; fresh and crisp with plentiful ingredients. The fried shrimp was excellent. The ribs were not very good; they were chewy. The baked potatoes were baked, but still firm and not at all fluffy. My prime rib was very flavorful but the texture was not good. It was so chewy, I decided to stop trying to eat it. When a manager-type person came by the table and asked, as she was moving away, how the food was, I said that it was chewy and illustrated it by demonstrating how my fork was not piercing the meat. She asked if I wanted it replaced, but I said I would take it home and feed it to my dog (which I did). They comped my meal since it was my birthday. The service continues to be excellent. The drinks were good (though watered down) and the staff were kind, but that's where the compliments begin and end. We waited for over an hour for the most mediocre burgers we've ever had. $15 per burger and it tasted like it came out frozen from a bag. My husband, a marine, who just got back from a week of sleeping on dirt and eating pre-packed food bags, said he would have preferred the packet food. And he normally eats anything you put in front of him. We couldn't finish our meal it was so nauseating, and we actively have stomach aches. The ambiance was even worse. Every 2 minutes a waiter walking by with a large clunky cart of dirty dishes, killing our appetite and clanking loudly. Music that didn't match the setting, the lights were comparable to sitting in a bright blue fluorescent office building, the carpet was grey and dingey covered with food scraps, the tables were grey, the ceiling tile was grey, the walls were blue grey, the chairs were grey, and the decor was, you guessed it, grey. The setting detracted from the ocean view, honestly. My husband and I both agreed it was the fanciest dive bar we've ever been to. Safe to say we won't be going back. This place was the highlight of our food experience on this trip to Myrtle. We went twice, for take out, and it was great both times. If you do eat in, the view is beautiful. I picked up take out between 5 and 6pm both times and the waiting area was packed with people waiting for tables. By the time I picked up my order the one day, I heard them telling folks on the phone that take out was over an hour wait. The first day we waited 45 minutes and the second day it was 30 minutes for take out. They package the food really well (clear plastic containers), provide plenty of utensils, wet wipes and sauces. Tip for if you do order take out - even if you go in and the waiting area has a long line, go past them up to the hostess stand. You can tell them you're there for a take out order and bypass waiting for that long line to put in their names. There are several people working the stand. The food is not cheap, but I felt like the quality matched what we got (enough to go 2 days in a row). Our other take out experiences were not as good as this. Here's the run down on what we tried: 1) Pulled Pork and Rib combo - you get a choice of soup OR salad and a side with it. We tried New England Clam chowder one night and French Onion the next. They were out of Mac and Cheese both nights, so went with a loaded baked potato. The pulled pork was delicious and the ribs were finger licking good. I read reviews that the ribs were dry, but ours were falling off the bone and super moist both nights. Some of the best I've ever had. The Clam chowder was good and had plenty of clams but it is celery forward, so if you aren't a big celery fan, I'd pass on this (I loved it, teen hated it). The French Onion soup was good but a bit salty (hubby liked it). The loaded baked potato was good and what you'd expect. 2) Grilled Shrimp and Rib Combo - I had the side salad with Ranch and coleslaw. The grilled shrimp were moist and not overcooked and the ribs were falling off the bone. It comes over an herby, creamy rice that was good. The side salad was generously sized. 3) Sampler Platter - this platter has potato skins, wings and mozzarella sticks. It's suppose to include onion straws but they were either out of them or don't do it anymore. The platter was great. We loved the potato skins and the wings/drums are HUGE. The mozzarella sticks needed reheating, but were yummy and came with marinara sauce. The second day, we just ordered wings and potato skins. We loved the buffalo seasoning on the wings. They provide plenty of sour cream for the skins, and extra BBQ sauce for the ribs. Both days, the bill was around $70 - 80, but well worth it. read more

The only reason I'm giving this place one star is because of the view and location. Went there 3 years ago and the food and the service were awful. We decided to give it another try. We totally regret it. The food is just not good. My husband had a burger that was dry and tasteless he took a few bites and couldn't eat anymore. I had the artichoke dip. This is my all-time favorite restaurant at Myrtle Beach. I could seriously live here. We go every year. The menu is awesome. The food is absolutely delicious. The view of the ocean is amazing. The staff are extremely friendly. You definitely need to try the prime rib. Some of the best I've ever had. Appetizers are spot on. I can't say enough great things about this restaurant. No need to draw this out! I ordered in the ribs category. Options were to add shrimp, grilled chicken, or something else I opted for the ribs and grilled shrimp because, WhY NOT! They pride themselves on their ribs, so I needed to see if they lived up to it. *insert Mario Brothers Nintendo music circa 1992* Ribs were pull off the bone and sauce was delicious! Baked potato was a FULL potato and the skin was perfectly seasoned. I also got the line chicken orzo soup. That's was the soup of the day. First I would like to say that our waitress was a 10/10! She was absolutely phenomenal and pretty much the only reason it's 3 stars instead of 2. I would have loved to give more stars but unfortunately I couldn't do that in good conscience. It was a busy Saturday night, but our wait was only 40 mins. However our table was filthy. I wiped it down with napkins and hand sanitizer. The plates they brought out for appetizers were also dirty with food stuck on them. The utensils, unfortunately followed suite. However my son pointed out that luckily we wouldn't need to use it since cheeseburgers don't require knives and forks. My husband and I took my daughter here this afternoon to celebrate her birthday. I asked the waitress to acknowledge her birthday with a cupcake or something, I told her I would pay extra if necessary, just to surprise my daughter. She said OK. The whole meal came and went, with no mention whatsoever of the 'suprise.' Ordinarily this wouldn't have been a big deal, but my daughter picked this place out of the MANY other places we COULD have eaten. Our sever Sarah was great, the food was OK, but the birthday mishap aforementioned has left a sour taste in my mouth. We have been going to Damon's for 30 years. They also had a location years ago at Barefoot Landing. The restaurant looked worn and definitely needs updating but the ribs and sweet potatoes with pecans still has that I have enjoyed over many years! The house salad was covered in chopped eggs was too much to enjoy. I noticed other salads didn't look that way so mine was just special. The service was great. We went there for my mother in law's birthday on Monday, Veterans Day the place was packed with Veterans not knowing Veterans ate free. We were thinking boy we're in for a long dinner. I have never felt such disrespect from a restaurant manager in my 50 years of traveling and dining as I felt tonight at Damon's located at 2985 S Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. The general manager, Brian Pennington, made it perfectly clear in his elevated, arrogant and unbothered tone that he doesn't care about customers or the fact that I was planning to reserve their private dining space for my mother's birthday party. That is no longer going to happen because I will never return to this restaurant as long as Brian is present. Brian stated that Damon's is not a franchise, so he only has to answer to his investors, not the customers. With that said, I will not give them another penny of my money, and will make sure I update all of those who I sent that way. There are plenty of places to eat in Myrtle Beach, and Damon's was just a cheap, oceanfront spot to grab a bite near my condo. My wife and I had dinner last night at Captain Archie's and lunch today at Clark's, (both of which are much higher scale restaurants than Damon's), so we weren't even hungry tonight, but because it's our tradition, and the birthday guest just arrived in Myrtle Beach this afternoon, we still headed to Damon's for a birthday dinner. It has been a tradition for me, my family, and friends to visit Damon's in MB for our birthday weekend getaways because they give the birthday guest a complimentary meal and a dessert, but today was different because Brian refused to honor that traditional meal for the birthday guest because his birthday was a week ago. That has never been the case in the past, and we have been visiting for many years, and countless birthdays. We are hardly ever able to visit on the exact day of a birthday since we travel to MB on the weekends surrounding that date. I just paid $250,000 cash for an oceanfront condo at Sandy Beach Resort and bought a 36 foot yacht, so the birthday meal has never been about the money. It was about the fact that a restaurant cared enough about its customers to do something special for their birthdays. We always load up on appetizers and meals for the rest of the table, so the birthday gesture still brings them money and repeat business, until now. On this visit, the food was not as good as normal, and we noticed that others who arrived after us with larger groups received their meals before us, so the timing of Brian's poor customer service was inline with this visit. The way that Brian should have handled this was to say, "I'm sorry, but this policy has always been in place, and your previous servers should have made you aware that the complimentary meal is only honored on the actual day of your birthday. I will address this with my staff to make sure they adhere to this policy. We'll go ahead and take care of your meal today, but going forward, you must come on your birthday. My staff will be trained to verify the birthday via a government ID prior to allowing someone to order a birthday meal, so that we can prevent this from happening to someone else in the future." read more

It's probably the worst restaurant I've been to in Myrtle Beach. 1st, we waited a while to have our order taken. Then when the food arrived it was not good. I had to se d my green b3ans and carrots back because of lack of seasoning. I got rice and corn instead. The rice was really good, and the corn was not. My sister got a steak that was supposed to be medium but was well done on one part, medium on one, and medium well on another. When she told the manager, she seemed very uninterested. While everyone else parasails, I'm reminiscing with my old friend Damon's. Those muffins alone made me happy they aren't in Columbus anymore. They really aren't working every other table, but for the most part, the tables seem to be six feet apart. They seated me for a party of seven even though I was alone. My ribs were tender but salty. The sauce had quite a bit of a vinegar taste to it. The food wasn't hot. The shrimp tasted better than the ribs. My server was awesome and attentive. read more

We went to dinner here on our family vacation. The seaside views were incredible! The wait was 25 minutes which wasn't long. We were able to enjoy those few moments on the patio as a family which was very nice! Our families are suckers for a waterside view at dinner. I got the flame cooked teriyaki chicken with corn and green beans. I wasn't too fond of the green beans but the corn had a butter kick and I could've licked the plate from the chicken! My children got chicken tenders which surprisingly was made from real chicken. We enjoyed our time together so much I didn't think to take photos of the food. We stopped in for lunch with friends and had the flounder special. It was very good and included two good-sized pieces of fried flounders - it was the best seafood we had while visiting Myrtle Beach.
