Dan Sung Sa is a late night Korean restaurant/bar/karaoke joint in Duluth near Pleasant Hill Rd. and I-85. Thanks to Angela H. for introducing me to this place last night. I heard it's open until 5am, but I didn't confirm. I went with a group of regulars and let them lead the way. This place is meant for Korean people. I don't know how the uninitiated or non-Koreans would find out about this place because there's not much written about it in English on the Internet... until now. Dan Sung Sa has a very unique and bizarre (in a good way) design. The storefront is plastered with old school Korean movie/music posters. When you first enter the store, it's like a regular restaurant. Off to the sides, there are private karaoke rooms. The dining space sort of reminds me of the now-defunct Harm Heung Cold Noodle. Relaxed lighting sets the mood and Korean LP record albums decorate the walls. This space also has a few widescreen TVs tuned to live Korean television. Last night, they were showing South Korea in the Olympics. The karaoke rooms are designed like traditional elementary school classrooms. There are chalkboards, children's drawings, and student chairs and desks. It's weird, but fun and amusing. Check out my photos to see what I'm talking about. The environment is generally clean and cozy. Note that smoking is allowed here, but it wasn't smoky during our visit (nobody was smoking at the time). If you smoke, they supply makeshift ashtrays made out of the bottoms of old soda cans. Unlike other karaoke joints (and someone correct me if I'm wrong), but Dan Sung Sa does not charge to use their karaoke systems. They do require you to purchase something off of their menu, though, before they turn on the TV and hand over the karaoke remotes and microphones. The menu has a whole host of Korean foods and drinks. We ordered a pitcher of beer and a bottle of yogurt soju, which tasted great. The karaoke system worked well. Excellent sound quality and the TV and equipment were in very good condition. Song selection was also very respectable -- a deep mix of both Korean and American songs. The rooms are small, so the sound really reverberates. It was nice. Service was good, though the female server wasn't the most friendly. It looked like she didn't want to be there. Overall, I ended up liking this place and had a good time. I'll definitely keep it in mind in my karaoke rotation now.

One of my favorite places to go~ I only got 1 picture in today bc my phone died :( They have a variety of unique dishes and let's just say you'll find yourself craving them throughout the week! They also have karaoke rooms so you can drink and sing your heart away without the embarrassment. Fyi: YOU MUST TRY THEIR UNLIMITED BBQ!!

This is a great place for Korean BBQ and Karaoke. Amazing food and cheaper price!! I had spicy Dae-chang for dinner last night. It tasted AMAZING. it is actually like a tasty spice!! (I asked them to make it a little spicier). If you really like spicy food, give it a try! And now they have a spcial event - Pork skirt steak only at $5.99!! They gave us some for free. It was also great!

Spicy chicken cheese was amazing. Great choice here.

Stopped here for some late night food since most places are closed. Ordered the bulgogi hotpot, kimchi rice ball and lunch box. Didn't really have high expectations since it's 2am but it turned out to be wonderful. The portions were great, food was delicious, especially the bulgogi hotpot. Definitely would come back again and try their bbq.

Very very good food. Very homey feel. Staff is very sweet. The steak is amazing... and Kalbi soup was awesome. It may not be the newest kareoke place but it more than makes up for it with its delicious cuisine...

I had 20 pcs wings and a two bottles of water. The total came out $42. They over charged me with water bottles, when the menu says $1.99.

Just a heads up so others don't get confused like I did. The place was pretty busy, which made it feel like a popular spot. The atmosphere was nice and everything looked clean and well kept. Even though it was crowded, our server was very friendly and attentive. They cooked the meat right at the table, which made the experience better. The fried rice (볶음밤) they made on the grill at the end, especially with the pork belly, was honestly the best part. Overall, really enjoyed it and would definitely come back.

My partner and I came in around roughly 9:50-10pm. When we arrived we're were initially informed that we had to order soon because they were closing in 30 minutes and were understandings of that. Shortly after we were seated, (literally 1-2 minutes) about 3 employees came to our table letting us know we needed to order within the next few minutes. It was like 10:05. I tried asking one of the employee what the meat options were and was just interrupted by him being persistent in us ordering and did not really answer our questions, mainly because I noticed some of the meat options were pork and I do not consume pork for personal reasons. My partner and I felt overwhelmed and just ordered something we thought would not include pork. After submitting our order another employee came by with the check already without us asking insisting for us to pay before our food even came out. Mind you the restaurant closed within 20 minutes at this point. When our food did come out, it did contain PORK!!! We just left shortly afterwards and left the food on the table.

Jin was our server and he was kind enough to answer a ton of questions even though he was so busy with other tables. Let's just say it was a LOT of food, but we also had soju/beer (somek) which also was enjoyed tremendously. You cannot go wrong here. They have combo meals; which are of excellent quality, or you can go with AYCE- still pretty good quality but you'll not get the marinated beef ribs in that way. This time, I brought my friend who has never had Korean bbq before for her to try. We went right when it opened so it was quiet. I told the server it was her first time and he was eager to explain everything to her. I don't think she was prepared at all what was about to grace our table He brought out a cart full of side dishes and start to explain what each one is along with the flavor profile. When he got to the scallion salad, she was just not loving it, but he told her to at least try and see what she thinks (don't knock it til you try it!) Then he said they're still getting the charcoal ready so it'll be a few more minutes and my friend's eyes just (like what?) So we start with trying a bite of all the sides. She enjoyed everything except the sliced onion salad. Surprisingly, she loved everything else, including the scallion salad! She's a texture eater, so I was weary of her trying the tofu, but she really enjoyed that too! So... the charcoal comes out, and she's just Then the server brings the grill with the cheesy corn, spicy bean sprout, and he poured in the eggs. Followed by the meats! Since she didn't really know what she likes, I made a few suggestions and the server suggests letting him bring us the most popular items first and we can work our way through the menu. What a great idea!! Started with brisket and ribeye and wow ... meats were fresh, paired with the sides, and the dipping sauces, it's just chef's kiss!! We then had bulgogi and pork belly and those were just bursting with flavor! The cheesy corn was good but burned too fast on the grill, the spicy bean sprouts are amazing, and the steam egg is my favorite . The only downside is that if you don't eat those sides that are cooking on the grill right away they'll turn dry and burned and it won't be as good. The cheesy corn also caused some splattering to our hands when we were cooking the meats. The server apologized for the oil splattering since he heard the squeal immediately soak up the oil from the cheesy corn so the splattering would stop. Overall, my friend gave it 10/10!!!
