Glazed donut

SERVICE: The grandson was working the bakery the day we went. Cool people, good serve, easy to find street parking, and good prices. The facility is old, but I respect them for still existing and hope we all continue to support them. FOOD: Not my first time here, nor will it be my last. Grew up going to this place. My father, Lew always made his way to Dana's to get a box of donuts. During this past trip I ordered a few glazed donuts and the pineapple cake mini. My mother order a half dozen of cookies which did look suspect lol but I didn't eat those so I have no comment. They had cookies, donuts, ice cream, and mini cakes. Enjoyed my donuts and the mini cake was very moist and flavorful. As always, a great experience. WELL: I'll always return.

My husband grew up in Homewood and has raved about Dana's since we've been together, so I decided (years later, which I know greatly regret) to check it out. I found myself wide awake last Thursday at 5:30 AM, so I decided to drive over to Dana's for some donuts and cookies before work. He opens at 6 AM every morning (except Sunday when they are closed). I got there around 6:15 and I was the only person in there. He has so many varieties of donuts to choose from. You have to try a pretzel donut when you go though- it's one of his signatures. I got a half dozen of donuts and a half dozen of cookies for myself and I delivered a half dozen of donuts and a half dozen of cookies for my friend too! So a dozen of donuts and a dozen of cookies for under $13 total! Everything was delicious! Fast forward to last Saturday. I called my mom and raved about Dana's so I met up with her last Saturday at 6:30 AM and we went to Dana's so she could get some donuts. I also got a few more half dozens of donuts to make surprise deliveries to a few friends. Everyone loved their donuts and cookies. Everything I tried was so good! I highly recommend trying out Dana's and supporting a small business. You won't regret it!

It does not make sense how absolutely delicious this bakery is. Truly one of Pittsburgh's hidden gems. The donuts are divine. They are the best in Pittsburgh. Hands-down. Every time I go into the bakery, I am greeted with a smile. Their menu items are always fresh and handcrafted. It's such a small and unassuming a little store, but there are a true culinary treasures inside. Trust me on the donuts!

We came here early on a sat and there was plenty of street parking around. I was impressed by their selection of donuts. We got a dozen and they were all really yummy. My favorite was the apple filled donut. There was a person before us and someone came in after we left. Even though the bakery was pretty small, we felt very comfortable when we were inside. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They're very close to construction junction and east end food coop. I would definitely come back when I'm in the area again!

It's Saturday morning and I'm biking around the area at Open Streets Pittsburgh. I see a bakery. BREAKS! Park the bike and hop in line to see what I can find. It's a no frills kind of place, but the display speaks for itself. I'm looking at the cupcakes, cookies, donuts, oh my! The lady ahead of me orders a chocolate chip cookie. It looks good, but those yeast donuts are so tempting. Intrigued by the top shelf, I ask the gentleman working what was the topping. "Crumbles," he says. I'll take that. At 75 cents, I'm a happy camper. I hang outside and eat the tasty yeast goodness and found it to be satisfying, not greasy and quite flaky like a yeast donut ought to be. The crumble topping was definitely unique. Love the concept and there was some dried fruit with the crumble top that added to the donut. So good!

Not impressed. Donuts were fine but nothing special, fairly comparable to DD. Staff was friendly and seemed to know the local customers.

Even in the box these smell amazing

You know it's gotta be good when people are coming in and out in the early morning! So glad I came out to this little hidden gem nestled in Homewood. Staff is very friendly and helpful with selections. As soon as you walk in the smell is just amazing.. will make your mouth water with the sweetness. I got a variety of doughnuts and cookies. So far I've only tried the cinnamon bun doughnut which I only intended to eat a few bites of... because yanno, trying to be healthy.. but oh my gosh I couldn't stop at one! This may be one of the best bakery doughnuts I've ever had. Have not tried the cookies yet (... although sooooo tempting) but I can't wait to try the thumbprints and that peanut butter with chocolate icing. Will definitely be stopping back here again! UPDATE: I haven't stopped talking about this place to all my friends and how good it is. The thumbprints are to die for!! If you're a thumbprint lover like me it's a MUST to try.

Dana bakery is a Pittsburgh classic and still pumping out delicious treats for everyone during the pandemic. It's definitely a hidden gem that is still a well kept secret but they do still sell out almost every day. You can get the best sweet potato pie or turnover style pastry. There treats are cheap and cash preferred unless you spend five bucks. Parking is available around the bend from the store for free and the building is easy to miss so definitely keep your eyes open. If you haven't tried this bakery yet I highly encourage you to get out and do so soon and arrive early to make sure you get a slice of that delicious sweet potato pie goodness!!!! I'll definitely continue to return here in the near future!

Is this bakery still in business? I went there twice this week and they were closed with the gate shut both times. One time was in the early afternoon and another time a few days later in the morning. Closed both times.

Lots of shootings around there. Maybe they had to close?

Great spot for dessert after dinner or as part of a date, too. I specifically went in for the "fancy" hot chocolate, which is made with real chocolate pieces. The baked goods were also tasty - my only suggestion is to make sure you ask to have your item warmed up, depending on what you get, as they are kept in a cool case and something like a brownie for example was pretty hard to eat. The sever did recognize this and offered to heat it up after the fact; which made it perfect. All of the baked goods were perfectly wrapped or garnished. The interior has a decent amount of seating and lots of dried flowers everywhere. Definitely try the hot chocolate!

I got to try the plain cheesecake, buckeye, lavender, double chocolate, biscoff, and key lime pie, and honestly every single one was delicious! His cakes are made with alot of labor & love! What made this experience even more amazing, was getting to go behind the scenes and actually help make a ton of different cheesecakes. Such a fun, hands on experience getting to see Kyle in action and the amount of hard work that goes into every order. I loved hearing his stories about his childhood and his family influences. Kyle is only 31 and has owned his business for over 7 years! That's impressive. You can really see the passion behind his baking. He works incredibly hard and even sacrifices a lot of his social life to keep growing his business, perfecting his craft, and supporting his community. Small business, big story! definitely a spot worth supporting in Pittsburgh!!!!! Thank you Kyle & Lisa

They have two cases of their delicious looking pastries, one table of discounted items, and a case serving hot items. Open that case and serve yourself the hot mini quiches and empanadas. Started with a mini quiche and a beef empanada. Hubby liked his quiche. I'm not a fan of olives and they were all over my beef empanada. Will not be getting that one again. The kind young lady behind the case helped us order our very first Burnt Almond Torte. It comes in different sizes and we chose the bar as it easily serves two. She even gave us sporks to eat it with. We really loved the Burnt Almond Torte. The inside has a soft, moist vanilla cake layered with a thin layer of icing and enrobed with more icing and topped with the buttery, crunchy almonds. We will be back for more.

They were crunchy, crispy, and perfect. The Bar Cake had a white cake inside and icing on the outside; it was heavily coated in those almonds. The person who assisted was knowledgeable about the items to a point; she did not eat anything in the bakery so it was by observation. Don't care, that Burnt Almond Torte is the real deal!
