I got the matcha rain and it was delicious but a tiny bit too sweet for me. I think I didn't drink it properly since the majority of my drink was the foam toward the end and it tasted very coyingly sweet. My other gripe was that after drinking about 50% of my matcha rain, I ended up not being able to sleep for THE WHOLE NIGHT. The drink was very dark foresty green and the matcha latte itself was quite bitter but not too astringent. I can tell they use a good ceremonial matcha but I do think that they put probably too much matcha powder in it. Service is super fast and friendly. I went on a Saturday morning at 10am and there was no line but most seats were taken. Its very bright inside with lots of windows and white light. They have one gender neutral restroom and there's lots of free street parking all around. read more

Very delicious cute and small coffee shop that is open daily 7am-6pm! This cafe is located at the corner of a busy street so it can be easily missed Parking was very difficult since they don't have their own parking lot and street parking is almost impossible! Menu had a good variety of matcha and coffee drinks. Pricing was a little pricey since most of the coffee drinks were $5-$7+ & matcha drinks were $7-$8. Keep in mind that all drinks come in one size and oat milk BUT they don't charge for milk substitutions (whole, oat, and almond)! Inside was quite small and not too much seating. After reading all the great reviews of the matcha, I was excited to try, but personally I thought it was okay and I do think there are better matcha spots in Pasadena. Also, from pictures it seems like the cup sizes aren't consistent? But this is my first time so I'm not sure if there were changes. I tried ordering through the QR code posted on the front door, but it did not work so I got some work done while waiting for the line to die down eventually. This cafe is definitely busy with lots of foot traffic, so I found the place quite dirty especially tables and floors that accumulated crumbs and spills over time. Parking can be tricky with only street parking, I noticed lots of people parking in the fire lane for online order I assume. Overall, a decent cafe. Danbi's matcha rain is so full-bodied and perfectly sweet, unlike other matchas I've had here that were watery and astringent in aftertaste. Taking a corner space at Pasadena's residential area, Danbi provided huge well-lit space that could accommodate large crowd yet constantly being full-house throughout the day! It's kind of mix between people studying, working, and just hanging out or even getting drinks for to-go. It's impressive that as the day went, the venue was just getting busier and the order line got extended. The pastry case had been almost empty even before noon. They served Stumptown coffee, but I went for their matcha as my first cup from Danbi, knowing they seemed to be most well-known by it. It's their version of Matcha with Matcha cream top, Matcha Rain. The Matcha Latte itself was so-so IMO, not as intense as I expected when spotting the vibrant green look. Nonetheless, their cream top was maybe one of my heart-winners from a bunch I have tried so far. I've been here at least 4 times already. And it's consistently great. I have an addiction to their Matcha Rain, also tried their Einspanner, Strawberry Matcha Rain and Butterscotch Latte. ALL of them AMAZING. I recommend getting them less sweetened, it just brings out the matcha flavor. Their dining area is huge with an outdoor space outside so you can definitely sit and enjoy your drink with some pastry they serve. This place is pretty good. My partner and I arrived around 11AM on a Friday and it was very crowded, but luckily we were able to grab a seat after ordering. Definitely don't come with a large group of friends expecting open seating- this place is very popular and there isn't much street parking available. They are doing a grand opening promotion of a stainless steel mug or t-shirt with purchase, but when we came, they said they did not have any more mugs :( That was one big reason I wanted to check this place out because I thought the free mug was really cute, so that was disappointing. Since the free items are listed as "until supplies last", I doubt they will restock the mug for their grand opening freebies. So expect a shirt if you're coming here for their limited time free items. My partner and I ordered their Matcha Latte, Matcha Rain (matcha cream top), and an iced Orange Mocha. I like that they don't seem to charge extra for milk alternatives, and for the matcha lattes they default to oat milk. One thing to note- you *cannot adjust the sweetness on the matcha*. I've been here a few times mainly for their matcha drinks. I really enjoy the Matcha Rain, it's easily one of the best matcha spot in the area. The flavor is rich and well-balanced, and they use oat milk, which I appreciate. That said, it is a bit on the pricier side for a small cup, especially since they only offer one size. K-town has come to Pasadena! We have been going to all the Infatuation LA best matcha spots and danbi is as good as the ones we have been too. I appreciate the milk of choice for their Matcha Rain is oatmilk. I prefer no dairy and not having to pay extra is great. We have tried the Matcha Strawberry, Matcha Rain and their Vienna. All are excellent. We took advantage of their soft opening BOGO, however we have returned for their drinks at regular price. I would say the only kink was when they get busy- they rush. Cute new cafe in Pasadena area! The place was packed when we went, with most people ordering matcha. There were no seats available when we went which was around midday on a weekend. We ordered 3 Matcha Rains. Matcha is incredibly high quality, no bitter taste and a very smooth texture as well. The drink itself has a sweet matcha cold foam on top. Danbi is a new coffee shop in Pasadena located at the SW corner of Green and Holliston. Plenty of east street parking. It's a high-ceiling, bright, open space inside with plenty of seating. And if you don't like the din of a crowded coffee shop (it is busy and popular), there's also seating inside. Decor is minimalist white with some warm wooden paneling. The staff are friendly if somewhat distracted which is understandable since they are relatively new; I imagine they are still getting used to the flow and contending with lots of customers. Most importantly, coffee drinks are great. I've only had their espresso tonic. I really appreciate that they offer this! Many coffee shops do not. The first time I was here, I didn't see any pastries but they did have toasts on their menu. My second time, I see they now offer pastries. Overall a nice addition to the already plentiful coffee scene in Pasadena. Note to the owner(s): Please let your customers use their personal cups! Tried Danbi for the first time! We received the marketing flyer in the mail and wanted to stop by. First impression was that it was pretty busy especially on Monday around 12:30pm so it must be good. We had the Einspanner and the Mochi Coffee. The drinks were on the heavier, sweeter side. If I can compare the einspanner, it tastes almost the same as the Vienna Coffee that Mandarin (on S. Lake) sells. They're very comparable. The actual rice cake on the stick was not as soft as you would think. Almost like it had been sitting there for a bit but it wasn't the worst. The coffee was good though. For both drinks, I'd say they're on the sweeter side. We didn't make any sweetness adjustments but we probably would in the future, if we decide to come back. The ambience was filled with people either studying or just hanging out. A few things I noticed that made me dock points: - the pastries are just out in your face. I saw flies wandering around. A nice show case to display them would be beneficial. - the people making your drinks have their HAIR DOWN. Please put your hair up when handling food/drinks. I think this place is hands down one of the better places to get matcha in LA. And trust me I have tried many matcha places - Stereoscope coffee, Maru, Kumquat, and Urth. The only matcha place on east side I still haven't tried is Tea Master Matcha Cafe and Green Tea Shop in Little Tokyo. There is a reason why there is a long line no matter what time of day you go - I went both on a Thursday at 10:30 AM and on Friday at 1:00 PM and both times there was a line to the door. However, when I went they were pretty fast and efficient - my drink was ready in less than 10 minutes from when I ordered. As a heads up they don't always consistently call out your name/drink, so I would suggest going to the counter and checking the drinks and find the one with your name attached to it. I had matcha rain and matcha strawberry and my gosh was it delicious. The matcha rain was perfectly smooth and creamy with just right amount of matcha flavor and matcha strawberry was a cool and refreshing drink. I also love that all their drinks come standard with oat milk and there's no upcharge for it. Each drink is about $7-8 which I think is basic drink prices now in LA, but I found one drink to be plenty for me. You can also customize sweetness if you need it more or less sweet and amount of ice. I found how it comes standard actually to be the best and that's saying something as I don't like overly sweet drinks so I usually ask it for less sweet. Food wise early in morning they do sell pastries - however by the time I got there by 11 am there weren't many pastries left. It's a very clean aesthetic and they do have an outdoor patio area with umbrellas on the side as well as in front to sip. I actually was able to study here and there were definitely students from PCC studying here, but be aware the acoustics of the cafe are very loud so bring headphones if you need silence/music to concentrate. There are a limited amount of outlets (only 3 tables had them), so would probably recommend if you need an extended study place I can't recommend this. Parking wise it's 2 hour street parking and 1 hour street parking. I never had any difficulty finding parking on Green, Chester, and Colorado the few times I went. read more

My girlfriend and I came on Wednesday early afternoon. This new spot took over Coco Roll. It was busy and all the tables were taken. I went with the matcha latte and default milk is oat milk. My girlfriend went with a suggestion made by another customer : einspänner* (Vienna cream coffee ) default milk is cow's milk and foam is premade. A real mixed bag here. We really wanted to love this spot, but the experience was a bit disappointing. Let's start with the good: the drinks we liked, we really liked. Wifey and I pulled up with a friend for our weekend matcha run around 10am and there was a line out the door! Okay so the place itself overall is not bad. There's a lot of tables inside and outside but it does get busy. I took a star off because they seem to be super unorganized. A new coffee shop that's been taking over my social media and I thought I would give it a try when I was in the area. To be honest, this place disappointed me. I ordered their iced matcha latte and it was clumpy. No matter how much stirring I did, the clumps were still there, which makes me think they don't whisk their matcha using hot water. Their service was amazing. Everyone was so nice and their service remained consistent even as the line continued to grow. There's plenty of seating inside and a couple of tables outside as well. I saw people get some work done and meet up with friends. In my opinion, the music was a little too loud to get work done, but if you have noise cancelling headphones, you should be fine. I'm happy to promote and give starting coffee businesses good vibes. Danbi coffee in Pasadena near PCC appears to be on a roll for recently having opened. In the 20 min that I visited the foot traffic continued nonstop. And still, the space remained calm, spacious enough for working and clean. Now for the drink.... I wanted to try a mocha -- smooth! A couple of notes in the favor: Stumptown beans, chocolate was well incorporated and the presentation was nice. Their menu is varied offering multiple options for coffee and matcha enthusiasts.
