My boyfriend ordered the sesame chicken which had no sauce whatsoever. It came in a sense of dry popcorn chicken. Also got the wings which had no flavor. I have consistently been going here for the last 4 years. The owners are by far the nicest people I have ever met, and are very dedicated to their work. The food is too die for though to be honest all I get is Szechuan chicken it is so good I can't do anything else. Other than the time that I went out to eat on the coast and a restaurant tried to serve my friend and I moldy food-stating that it was good for our health since penicillin is derived from mold. The place was completely empty and awkward. Upon walking into the restaurant, we saw the waitress eating and the manager on his cell phone roaming around the restaurant. The decor was off.....beautiful murals painted on the walls, dirty ceilings and hanging lights from the 60's. Our dinnerware/flatware were dirty. We tried a won tong soup and the broth tasted funky. The rest of the food wasn't that great either. We were the only ones dining in the restaurant- we had two people on the wait staff and the manager watching us- which felt like being babysat while dining! Every couple of minutes they would walk by, stare and not speak to us. But- on the decent-good side, I found one thing interesting about this place- as I was walking to another part of the restaurant I noticed a large bar somewhat hidden behind curtains with projection TV- they had a basketball game airing- that made me smile- I was so excited that I wanted to move my table to the other side of the restaurant- but I figured it would be best to end this experience as quickly as possible. I relapsed. It had been many moons since I was tempted by my dark vice: the Chinese food buffet. I have never tried one that I liked. Yet, I was compelled to keep trying new ones until I hit rock bottom at some disgusting Chinese buffet in Corvallis. I didn't remember it's name the next morning and by the time I woke up my bed was cold. Anyway, after driving past Dancing Dragon many times without specifically noticing it, I saw a sign last week saying they have a buffet lunch. I resisted, for the time being, until I could read what my fellow Yeeps had to say. Seeing three 4 stars, one 5, and one 1 star, I felt ok about giving it a shot. I respect these Yeep's opinions, but these enablers aided me in making a mistake. The first bad sign was seeing Fox News projected on a large screen directly in front of where I was seated. Of all the horrendous TV available out there, Faux News is the one I avoid above all. Avoided even more than American Idol. If I want fake news, at least give me some humor like the Onion. In addition, the dimness made me question the cleanliness of the establishment. Was it dark to prevent people from seeing if it is dirty or not? For some reason, I am ok with eating tacos in a filthy environment, but not Chinese food. Is that politically incorrect? Seeing, the food, I should have left right then. Still, I pressed on, and I have no one to blame but myself. I piled on pork fried rice, Mandarin chicken, an egg roll, and barbecued pork (I think--there was no label). The barbecued pork was the only thing I almost liked. The sauce was good but the pork was fatty and cold. The rice was flavorless and dry, the egg roll had very little filling and was over fried. The mandarin chicken had the most batter I have ever experienced. I'm not sure how much chicken was actually in there. Everything else I saw did not look fit for consumption. I will not be back to this place and I am promising myself not go to anymore Chinese buffets unless it gets some serious stars by many, many Yelp friends. read more

The outside of the pot stickers were very thick and had a sweet taste to them that threw the entire flavor off. The best tasting part of the meal was the fortune cookies. Back in college, there was an old-school Chinese place not far from campus where a person could get a big lunch for not a lot of money. Pretty basic stuff - not the refined-palate sort of Asian cuisine that's written about so much today - rather, it was the sort of thing that passed for 'Chinese' back as far as the 1950's. I hadn't frequented this place for quite a while - then, when the kitchen fire closed it for several months while they rebuilt, my 'jones' for cheap Chinese food had to go unfulfilled. See, I have to admit a soft spot for that sort of thing - because it conjures up good memories of a time when it was possible to walk in starved, leave full, and still have money left over. Red sauce and hot mustard for your fried shrimp. That pink-sauce on your deep-fried sweet and sour pork. Fried rice. Yes; it's all here at Dancing Dragon, along with a lot of other things. Since the closure of so many of these places (China Bay in Beaverton is now a pizza parlor), it's hard to scratch that itch when it hits - but the $20 you'll struggle to spend here - including tip - on two big platefuls of cheap Chinese food is a hard argument to beat. So, no, this isn't high-end. Adjust your palate accordingly, and you'll leave satisfied. read more

As a Chinese who loves food, I always rember the day I walked into Dancing Dragon restaurant, for the 1st time and only this once. This day changed my view of restaurants and refreshed the lower limit of food quality that I could ever imagine. Their menu didn't have anything close to Chinese that I could recall, and evetually I ordered some pork with cashew & celery because i was really hungry. This dish was disgusting.A lot of cheese was on everything, pork was too salty and best of all, cashews were mouldy. Agaist my best instinct, I put one spoon of food into my mouth, I felt disgusted and spit it out immediately. I left the resturant with no tips and fell sick for the afternoon. This is the worst restaurant experience in my life. I would give it NEGATIVE five stars if I could. For you health and sanity, please please do not go to this place. If you want to have good Chinese food in Northwest area, you better go to Seattle or Vancourver, BC. I don't really have high hopes for getting decent vegan Chinese food in Hillsboro, but I have been here twice now. Both times, I had the brown sauce tofu. The first time, it was a little bland so the second time I asked for them to make it spicy and it was much better. I was promised that there was no fish sauce in it and that it was vegetarian by somebody who appeared to speak English fluently, so hopefully that is indeed true. The two times I've been here, everybody's portions have been huge, so you definitely won't leave hungry! Edited to add: Went here last night and it was disappointing. They didn't make my tofu spicy like I had ordered so it was really bland. I was offered a bottle of Sriracha but it wasn't the same as having spice cooked in. We also felt really rushed by the server to finish our meals and leave. She asked us several times if we wanted boxes even though we were still eating and asked two people at our table if they were done at least twice when their plates were still half full. I ordered from this restaurant for the first time tonight and was not impressed. The crab rangoons were made with the type of wrapper that is hard to bite and flavorless when deep fried. One of my fried shrimp in that appetizer tasted "old." Lastly i ordered Mandarin chicken. It tasted like 2 day old sweet n sour that had been refried multiple times. I love Dancing Dragon. Their egg rolls are perfect. Their Chow Mein with pan fried noodles is perfect. They have always been clean and they are incredibly friendly. Ah, and their mustard. Chinese restaurants should make their mustard-- no plastic packets for me. Dancing Dragon has always done a great job on this front. Their BBQ pork is the best I've had. I don't know what they do to it- but it's perfection. I live in Portland, and out Chinese food options are scarce. One of the few things that makes me miss the burbs. Asian food is 10 times better west of the hills. This is my first choice for dinner with the parents when I'm in Hillsboro. My mother is NOT into Chinese food-- but she will eat here. This place is pretty old school- looks the same as it did when I was 5. Same candy machines, same artwork, same glass counter with little goodies inside. I wish I had read the reviews before going here. I actually wanted to go to Rock N Wingz but they were closed. I was starving and decided to go here. I ordered some lunch plate with sweet and sour chicken, and sesame chicken, along with pork lo mein. Half of the chicken was covered in the sweet and sour sauce, and the other part of it was sauceless. I asked if they forgot the sesame sauce, and she pointed to this concoction that looked like ketchup, mustard, and sesame seeds. She said that was the sauce. Ewwwwww. This is our go-to place for Chinese food in Hillsboro. The service is good, the tea is decent, the food is always delicious, the eggrolls are huge, addictive and greasy (a good thing in this case), and I like the mural on the wall. I've never visited the lounge itself, but the drinks that have come from there have been so-so. This place borders on dive, which I think has partly to do with location, but it's charming for this place. It's almost always empty, so I'm shocked if there's ever more than 2 booths filled. I've had lots of good times here with friends and family so it's close to my heart, but I've never had a bad experience here so no need to be stingy with my review! read more

I do see the employees sitting down and the manager on the phone, but its most likely due to the decrease in business and bad economy..not like it bothers me, because i came there to eat. LOL. Worst Chinese food I've had in as long as I can remember. Kung Pao chicken tasted like shrimp, Sweet &Sour pork tasted more like chicken, and fried won tons were nothing but folded won ton dough. No filling whatsoever. Other problems too. Also, each of the the combination portions were served in individual take-out cartons, not in a clamshell. Preface: I am a white person, looking for regular boring Americanized-Chinese food. Chicken donut kind of stuff. This has it. But it tastes gross. All of it. Its true. This place is pretty much the worst in every aspect that makes up the mega task that is good food service. "Why 2 stars then?" you ask. One word: Eggrolls. I have tried several items on the DD menu in an attempt to support my boyfriends belief that the place really is decent. By the way, 7 months and a dozen dinners later, he still supports that belief. In my experience the food is disgusting in a new and exciting way each and every time, and the DD is the only restaurant that has actually made me wonder if the cat/dog asian eatery sterotype had any actual validity. I bluff you not fellow eaters, this place cant even pull off fried rice without it not only being bad, but suspect as well. Ive never been inside the actual restaurant, which should tell you volumes about the outside of the restaurant. Yet for some reason, the DD has managed to master the art that is the Eggroll. Easily 8" long and 5.5" around (makes for excellent inappropriate dinner props if youre as immature as I can be) and stuffed with some heavenly concoction of what I hope is vegetables (there may be other things in the mix but I fear asking) and deep fried in what I hope is legitimate animal fat, just one is an entire meal. Sometimes I crave the DD eggroll, I can not help it and I am not ashamed. In closing, just remember: Eggroll ONLY and dont think about it (and by "it", I mean The Dancing Dragon). read more

Never had a problem with this place. I was a consistent regular when living in Hillsboro for many years. Ate dinner and sometimes lunch quite often here. They were always respectful to me. Probably because I wore a guard uniform and a gun belt. lol They seemed to especially show me good service after work. Probably because they figured it looked good in the bar where I'd eat. Like private security. lol I did get comments at times from bar flies. I always liked certain dishes here. Not sure if they're on the menu anymore. Last time I was in 1 was gone. Truly terrible. I used to come here as a child and have fond memories of eating here with my grandparents who have since passed. I had sincerely hoped after the restaurant burned down, that they would take the opportunity to rework the restaurant. Unfortunately, they didn't. The food was bland and the restaurant was HOT - like 80 degrees. When we complained about sweating in our booth, they told us they turned down the temp on the air conditioning, but we never felt the difference. The staff was friendly enough, but the ambiance and the flavorless food will keep me away forever. I wish I had never gone back - at least I still would have had my pleasant memories ...
