I was surprised by the way I had to stand in a long line to order my food Upon entering. This meant that I both paid for it and tipped the cashier before receiving my order. I had the dandy omelette and small coffee. The plate looked beautiful, The omelet pepper was so hot that I couldn't really enjoy tasting the food. I tried scraping the cheese and sauce off which proved to be better, but not what was expected. I told the cashier and was graciously given a new omelette sans cheese. Not the same but not hot. The potatoes were ok but not special as they had advertised roasted hashbrowns as if that made a difference. They were actually a little greasy. Dandelion Cafe is one of many brunch spots in Houston, specifically located in the Heights. As Houston's brunch scene has exploded immeasurably in the last 5 or so years, Dandelion Cafe was definitely on my list to try. For starters, the line is obnoxiously long. You order and pay and then seat yourself. On a Saturday morning, there were more than enough open seats to where people in line were waiting longer than to get and eat their food. Their system is really inefficient with the cashier making small talk and slowing the line down. Understandably, it's important to deliver great customer service but not at the expense of other people waiting in line (I waited for more than 45 minutes). I ordered the Chicken and Waffles and Blueberry and Lemon French Toast sticks. As a post hangover meal, this absolutely rocks in all regards. The waffle is super fluffy and the chicken pairs perfectly with it. The lemon and blueberry french toast sticks were also a flavorful option however was a tad bit too sweet for my liking (understand it's french toast sticks), but was still a very good meal! The weather's cooled down somewhat to have a seat outside and enjoy the ambiance and atmosphere of brunch. Overall, I did enjoy my time here but wish the line moves at a faster pace. read more

Went on a Thursday as the hype is so much around this new place. Ordered the avacado toast , it's just mashed avacado over focaccia slices and some carmelised onion, breakfast taco with side of hash with coffee and cafe au lait Food was below par in quality and taste . The focaccia for the avacado is past was stale , the toast lacked any seasoning . Saving grace was the side of cup of fruit that was fresh and a good variety of. Value for money 2/5 The breakfast taco was just ok and the hash brown was not done well, the potato as raw. Coffee seemed overpriced for the how little the smalls are . It's pretty much counter service , We had someone walk by just to ask us if we needed anything but this was way after we were done with our dining. The food here was absolutely awful. I was so excited to try this place but the food was so bland, and looked so rushed in its preparation. We got the chorizo breakfast sandwich, caprese sandwich, and pancake. Despite these all being typically flavorful dishes, every single item we ordered was bland. The texture of the chorizo was chunky and just off. Even the pancake which we topped with strawberries and chocolate chips was bland. Lastly, my matcha latte did not taste like matcha in the slightest bit and was overly sweetened. You would be better off going to IHOP or Dennys truthfully. read more

Decided to come on for Sunday breakfast as I heard nothing but great things about this place. This place is conveniently located in The Heights area off a side street at a corner. Let me start by letting you know that this is a SELF service restaurant meaning you have to stand in line to order your food grab a buzzer and have a seat. You have to get up and get your own water, napkins, silverware etc. I would save that is one of the downfalls of this place. They also don't serve alcohol yet fyi. The decor and ambiance is cute plenty windows and it's kid friendly. There is a small parking lot with street parking. The staff was friendly and the order wasn't a long wait. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles which was three fried chicken thighs with a huge waffle. It had some kinda of a spicy flavored butter which I would place on the side but was definitely worth ordering. The coffee mugs and the water cups are small so you might wanna order a carafe so you don't have to keep getting up. I also wanna state this restaurant does not take reservations it's first come first serve so be prepared. I don't think this place can accommodate large groups as I would not bring a party greater than four. My friend ordered the Dandy Classic which in which she stated she would not order again. What I tried on her plate was the hash browns that I DON'T recommend. It is unlike your normal hash brown and has a weird taste. All in all I would come back to this location. The service was great and I saw many dishes that I would consider. Give this spot a try. read more

I've been to the original location and loved it so when I heard this location opened up, I had to give it a try. I love the modern decor and the bar seating that they offer. The customer service is just as good as the original location so I always appreciate that as well. And most importantly the. Chicken and waffles (with my side of eggs fried hard) was just as delicious as I remembered so if I'm ever in the area, I'll definitely give them a visit. I will say the parking was a little more limited in their lot so if you didn't find a spot you may have to circle the block and potentially park on the street read more

It's OPEN!! I'm a huge fan of the Bellaire location but being able to walk from my apartment is a DREAM! (Yes it's absolutely worth a 20 minute drive, but having it on my doorstep is a gift). The home of "Houston's Best Chicken & Waffles" has amazing food, it's ruined me for other brunch spots. The coffee is delicious! Everything is so fresh, and the flavours are perfectly balanced. Enjoying strawberry mimosas on the beautiful patio was such a joy! Despite being brand new the staff were so helpful and efficient, and the food was as outstanding as always. So impressive for the family owned coffee shop. I'm so delighted this location has opened - don't second guess yourself- you MUST go! I was really excited to try this spot, as it's just down the street from us. The setup was a little time-consuming--you wait in line to order, get a pager, and then they bring the food to your table. Unfortunately, there's no kids' menu, which made it a little challenging to figure out what to order for my little one, especially without much help or guidance from the staff. Our pancake wasn't fully cooked the first time, but to their credit, they remade it, and it was fantastic. The service could have been friendlier and more accommodating, particularly for families, but I want to give this place another shot because I see potential. So I was a little sad when we moved back and I found out that Kraftsmen had closed, but I read good reviews about this place at all of their locations so I thought I would give it a try today. I read through the menu per usual and what I would've picked I decided not to because they say that they have an award winning chicken and waffles. When I walked in, I was greeted immediately and there was no line. You get your own utensils and napkins and then they have a water station with cups. They give you a number to stick in a holder at whatever table you go to and honestly my food came out within five minutes, which was pretty amazing. The food was super hot and fresh and my chicken was really crispy and tender enough. The cornmeal coating itself had a lot of flavor and a little hint of spice but not spicy if that makes sense. The chicken was tender, but as most fried chicken is, it was a little dry, but I dipped it in the maple syrup and ate it with a waffle and it was really perfect. The flavor made up for a few of the pieces being dry, but most of it was moist. They also put a spicy butter on top of it just really tasty and so you're not overwhelmed with too much savory because you comb it with the waffle and the syrup. At this water station with utensils they also have to go boxes that you can get on your own and pack up your food. The service was excellent. I asked one of the guys there if I could have a container for my syrup to go and he went and got me a fresh syrup immediately. Parking was easy and there is a lot across the street but if you know the heights, you know that you can park anywhere that's residential. Can't wait to go back and try some of their other stuff. read more

I found this beautiful restaurant online while looking for biscuits and chicken and waffles. It is located in a very old brick building that is filled with other businesses. I love how they kept the charm of the past but updated the interior with modern furniture and color. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by amazing smells. Everyone was so happy and the cashier who took our order was very nice. You order at the front counter and they give you a device that alerts them where you are located so they can bring your food. It is very convenient. We weren't sure what to get but we started with the order of biscuits and you had your choice of jam. We got blueberry, and it also came with a nice soft butter. My husband loves chicken and waffles and since that is what they are known for he opted for that. For my entree I got the bagels and lox. She asked what kind of bagel I wanted, which was nice and I chose an everything bagel because those are my favorite. For my drink I chose water and my husband got the coffee. He was quite impressed from the get go with the coffees freshness and said it was a great start. We also go a banana nut muffin to go for later since we figured we'd be full from this meal. The biscuits came to the table first. I took a bite with nothing on it and it was pretty dry. It was fine with the accompaniment of butter and jelly but not my favorite. I was not going to let that sour my meal as everyone has off days. Our entrees came out next. When they placed that chicken and waffles in front of my husband he was so excited. My everything bagel and lox were so beautifully plated. My old self was in love. I quickly started fixing my topping and took a bite. The fish was so fresh. The cream cheese was absolutely creamy and the bagel was phenomenal. There was nothing I did not like about my dish. It was perfect. I managed to snagged a bit of waffle and chicken from my husband and I definitely know why they are known for them. It was everything it should be and more. There was a little spice on the back end which complimented the dish perfectly. We scarfed our food down and we were happy and satisfied. The wait staff walks around and fills the coffee. Water is complimentary and self serve. We had a great time. Oh yes and the banana Nut muffin was out of this world! I didn't eat in until we were back in San Antonio and I'm kicking myself for not buying more pastries to bring home. All in all we enjoyed ourselves very much and will visit again. read more

Now for the food the coffee man that stuff is nasty and I drink a lot of coffee but this one has a very bitter taste would didn't like it at all . I'm usually a person that sticks to traditional breakfasts plate but today I tried the chicken and waffles and I'm wondering why it's award winning to me the chicken and waffles are not that great chicken doesn't have much taste the best I've tried are at Harry's Restaurant in midtown I wouldn't try the chicken and waffles again, the pumpkin spice pancakes were over cooked they were decent but over cooked . Great location I highly recommend trying the the traditional style breakfast that's I've had before as well and it's been great but this review was based on this new location . This is a very busy place. So I suggest to get there early. Very casual ambiance and super clean. Great place for conversation and lunch date. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Very crispy chicken and a not to fluffy waffle. The waffle held the chicken real good without getting soggy. The chicken had a great taste with a hint of curry flavor but thinking about it , it seemed more like cumin. The waffle had a perfect consistency to it. They put a dab of butter which was infused with what seemed like a jalapeño cumin touch. Worked very well with waffle. And the syrup was not too heavy and had good sweetness to it. My wife's chilaquiles were a little subtle on the flavor. The sauce was more of a green mole type sauce that a green chile verde sauce. But it still seemed to work with the crispy tortilla chip and the diced up chicken. A touch of salt and pepper helped but I prefer a spicier chile . Overall we will be visiting again.
