The atmosphere is cozy, low-lit, and perfect for date night, a celebration, or honestly just when you want a really good meal with phenomenal service. It's not huge, and judging by how packed it was when we arrived, I'd definitely recommend reservations. We had one of the later seating times near closing, but the place was still buzzing. There's even a second room with a gorgeous long bar that gives off upscale neighborhood hangout vibes. Service was flawless from the start. We were seated immediately and had water in our glasses within minutes. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and somehow had us in and out in about 40 minutes without ever making us feel rushed. That's an art form. Drink-wise, my boyfriend was happy to find some local beers after our brewery-hopping adventure earlier in the day. I ordered a cocktail that sounded good and asked if they could make it spicy... maybe throw in some jalapeños or something. They didn't just accommodate, they elevated. They swapped in a spicy-infused spirit, and it paired perfectly with my wood-fired roasted corn pizza topped with cilantro and jalapeño crema. Absolute flavor bomb that paired perfectly! My boyfriend's meatloaf with mushrooms and mashed potatoes was equally impressive. No notes, just clean plates. We started with the ceviche, and it was outstanding. Fresh, bright, and so flavorful that we started dipping our homemade pita into it. Speaking of the pita, that was honestly my only minor miss (and it wasn't even a miss lol). As a carb enthusiast, I wanted a little more salt and flavor, but that's nitpicking in what was otherwise an exceptional meal. Hearth & Herron is the kind of place every small town wishes it had. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted immediately and took a seat by the fireplace while waiting for my parents to arrive. We then ordered a drink and went and sat on the patio since they were running just a little bit late. Upon arrival, we were greeted once again by our waitress that took our order and kept our water and tea filled to the brim. We ordered the soup of the day and shared the Lamburgesa. The soup was served piping hot and broth was delicious. The lamb was so flavorful, but we opted to have the jalapenos on the side. My parents ordered the Broad Burger and were equally pleased.

Our waitress was friendly, attentive, professional, and genuinely pleasant throughout the evening. We took advantage of the corkage option and brought along our own bottle of wine. We even offered her a taste, which she enjoyed, and that little interaction added a nice personal touch to the evening. I started with the wedge salad, which was excellent, and the bleu cheese dressing was absolutely superb. My wife had the Greek salad, and it was equally delicious. For our entrées, I had the steak and my wife chose the shrimp and grits. Both were outstanding--perfectly prepared, flavorful, and honestly over-the-top good. My only disappointment was discovering that the Shrimp Scampi has been removed from the menu. It was always one of my favorite dishes, and I certainly hope they consider bringing it back! We completely understood that we were early and would have been more than happy to wait for a seat to open up. Instead, the receptionist seemed visibly annoyed that we had arrived when we did and spoke to us rather dismissively, suggesting that we go to a bar down the street instead. We ultimately took that suggestion and went elsewhere. We ended up having such a pleasant experience at another restaurant that we decided to stay there for dinner and did not return for our reservation. It was disappointing, especially because we've enjoyed the food at Postero in the past. We weren't expecting to be seated early or accommodated immediately, just a welcoming interaction while we waited. Unfortunately, the way we were treated made us feel as though our business wasn't particularly wanted, so we chose to spend our evening somewhere that made us feel more welcome.

The food and service were the best we ever had. We were actually sad to leave as there were still so many choices on the menu that we wanted to try. I guess another reason to return. Our first night I had the chicken pot pie spoiler alert it is a generous sized portion you will not leave hungry but that did not stop me from getting the crème brûlée for dessert. Hubby had the deviled eggs that we shared presented beautifully underneath a smoked glass. He had the shrimp cocktail as well as the wedge salad before having the short ribs. Next night Saturday we started with our cocktails hubby Tangueray and Tonic and I had a Grey Goose Cosmopolitan. For my main course I had the Fish and Chips as well as Chocolate lava Cake for dessert. The food is delicious the service is impeccable and the atmosphere could not be more comfortable and relaxing sitting outside in this lovely Fall weather.
