My wife and I arrive to Solvang the first week headed to is Danish Mill Bakery Inc. We have to this Bakery in the past many times but every time we there's always have different pastrys but they so good. This time we were very hungry driving for a long distance makes anyone hungry. We step in the Bakery we notice they were serving sandwiches on their freshly bake bread like their pastrys. My wife order a BLT on sour dough bread and I order a club sandwich on honey out bread. We sat outside and cashier say they bring the food. I took a bite of my Club sandwich it tasted really good with turkey,ham,and cheese including the bacon addition to the toasted honey oat bread add to crunch and layers of flavors make this sandwich delicious. I'm not one for writing bad reviews but I didn't care for the aebleskiver. Everyone suggested I try them and did so. They were too doughy and heavy. Almost felt as if they had been reheated in the microwave. Even dipping them in the jam and sugar did not make them any better. The other items displayed looked appealing and the place was nice. The lady who helped us was not particularly patient with my young children (11/23/20). It was difficult for them to choose anything because they could not clearly see all of the treats. Our total bill was $11.45. We got... + Sara Berhardt (almond macaroon & French chocolate) $4.25 - it was far too sweet for my oldest daughter + white chocolate treat ($4.25) - this one was also to sweet for my youngest daughter + large Danish butter cookie - I ended up sharing this with my children and they really enjoyed it. Of all the bakeries in Solvang, this one wasn't my favorite, but it does stay open later than some of the others, which makes it a good option for those in need of a later in the day Danish baked good fix. Keep in mind, if you do come later in the day, they don't have some of the hot options like Aebleskivers. It's confusing because they are advertised all over the boards, but when you get to the front of the very long line, they'll tell you they aren't serving them. No complaints on the service but the blueberry cream cheese Danish was much to be desired. The pastry was stale and didn't taste fresh at all. I've had better and wouldn't return. Heck, I think Costco's pastries are way better than theirs. It was a waste of calories and money. The pastry was maybe 2 to 2.5 stars at most. My family and I visited Solvang and checked out this bakery before we left. We got a few different pastries and we asked for 4 kringle kages and was charged for the price of 4 when we only got 1 in our box. I'm not sure if the woman serving us had forgotten to put them in the box but she repeated my request of 4 kringles back to me. It was a shame because we did not realize it until we had gotten back home. The other pastries we got didn't exactly stand out to us either. Service was also 3/5, but it may have been because of the crowds. I would not come back here if I visited Solvang again. read more

When in Solvang, expect to be tempted by Danish bakeries. Lots of Danish bakeries! Before the Coronavirus Safer at Home situation began, we took a day trip to Solvang. After walking the main core of town, I was craving aebelskivers. Another nearby bakery had just closed, but Danish Mill was still open and making their version of the round ball pancakes. While we waited for them to bake, we also checked out their pastry cases, picking out several items apiece to take home. Likely, chocolate chip cookies aren't traditionally Danish, but as they're so popular with Americans, Danish Mill Bakery accommodates our tastebuds with their own version. And successfully, deliciously so! Major thumbs up! We took our aebelskivers out front, sitting at a sidewalk-side table as sprinkles began to fall from the sky. Eating a warm, toasty fluffy pancake concoction on a chilly afternoon made for a special memory. The lingonberry sauce added just the right fruity touch, without being too sweet. The next time we return to Solvang, I'll have Danish Mill Bakery at the top of my list in their category. read more

This pastry place is a nice place to cool down and sit in a calm and dim light area. They have most of the Danish pastries you'll find including aebleskiver in which I had with a cup of espresso. I wasn't a fan of their aebleskiver; it was dry, bland, and too cakey. I could literally only taste the berry jam on top. I should've tried their cheese Danish instead but oh well, next time! It's also hard to flag down an employee since there's really only one lady behind the counter helping a lot of people. No one walks around checking on you, no refills, not even to give the check lol. I wouldn't come back but it's still worth trying. I recommend filming the toy figures that are baking inside the shop. read more

This is the bakery youre looking for in Solvang! After a very disappointing danish at another place, we were directed here by some ladies who were positively gushing about the danish they had from here! Let me tel you, they werent lying! I got a cream cheese and strawberry danish and it was the perfect level of sweetness! We also got a mini pepperoni pizza and the crust was amazing. Nothing too special about the sauce or pepperonis, but this is a bakery, not a pizza shop! We also bought a bucket of butter cookies to take home and let me tell you, dont bother with those tins of cookies you get at the market, just order a bucket of these. Ok actually the desserts we ordered was fine, my biggest problem with them is that I feel deceived Solvang is known for have Æbleskivers, so we definitely went into the day looking for them. Around late afternoon time we came by here and saw that they had so many signs advertising Æbleskivers that we excitedly came in and waited in the super long line that went way out the door. But then after the really long wait, when we're at the front of the line we learned that there aren't any Æbleskivers and we have no idea how long they were out of them because they literally aren't announcing it or anything. We ordered some desserts anyways just because we waited in line for so long (which I'm sure was their intention). The other thing is that we waited in line for so long that when we heard they were out of Æbleskivers I immediately looked online to see if anywhere else sells them but by then most places were closing :( I really feel they should let people know when they're out of Æbleskivers because the truth is many wait in line for that specifically (I know this because on the way out some people in my party let some customers know that they were out and most of them actually seemed disappointed and quite a few did leave the line). read more

This is the only bakery I patronize each and every time we are in town. They have recently remodeled and spruced up their decor with our losing the diner old school charm. This is a cute lil bakery w pastries and baked goods. We didn't try the actual restaurant food, but grabbed an apple cinnamon danish and a loaf of jalapeño cheese bread. The danish was delicious and surprisingly not super sweet, which was perfect! Also.... that bread!! They ask if you'd like it cut, so that was a nice lil touch. The bread was very soft and paired well with wine, cheese, and salami when we took it w us to the wineries. Very pleased w their baked goods! One of my favorite things to do in Solvang is a morning walk to try out one of Solvang's many bakeries.  This day I stopped at Danish Mill Bakery. Apple fritter had a few crunchy spots and a dense cinnamon roll donut like texture.  Sweet apple flavor with a good amount of apple bits.  Sugar glaze over this already sweet treat made it too sweet for me. Cinnamon roll was fluffy with sweet cinnamon flavor mixed with the sweet icing and raisins.  Fresh tasting.  Sadly I could only eat half of it as it was too sweet. Bear claw was crunchy on the outside with sweet filling inside.  Delicious. Danish waffle had a crunchy outside with a sweet cream filling.  Very sweet. Close to too sweet to eat. Tub of Danish butter cookies was $17.  Cookies were crunchy and full of delicious butter flavor.  My mom got me hooked as a small child as each Christmas there would be a tin of butter cookies under the tree. So far the butter cookies and the bear claw are my favorite treats.  There are many more to try but they make some of the treats sweeter than I like. read more

Rude employees! When we attempted to pay in cash, we were informed cash is not accepted. When we expressed our disappointment the cashier told us " Tell my boss"! Every time I crave a pastry, I wish I was back here eating a marzipan danish. As a marzipan lover, this danish was absolutely amazing with so much marzipan inside and super fresh pastry around it. It was a warm day too, so my pastries were fresh and warm after I walked around for a bit. The kringle was also incredibly delicious and I loved that I could get a slice rather than having to buy a whole ring. Next time I'm in Solvang, I'm going straight here! We really enjoyed stopping into Danish Mill Bakery for a quick bite on our way out of Solvang. The staff was friendly, the danishes were good, and it was a little more kid friendly than some of the other places we visited. If you like coffee, make sure you get some here! This is the best bakery in Solvang. I've been going here for many years and every time I'm in Solvang when I go to wine country. I always get a box of pastries here. The staff has been here for a long time. One of them I know has been there for over 30 years. It's an old cute Danish bakery that carries Danish and some French inspired desserts and also chocolates. Everything is so delicious. There are other bakeries I go to in Solvang that I do get other desserts but I get majority of my desserts to take home from this bakery. My favorite are the French waffles, Danish puffs and the Filled Butter cookies. read more

Great Cookies by the Bucket !!! We liked this bakery in a city (Solvang) where there's so much competition, as a tourist you don't know where to begin differentiating it's almost paralizing. If you want a "sure thing" (might not be "the best" but won't be "the worst") for both price and quality, I'd say this is super reliable and trustworthy and a good enough decision than any to go with for your bakery needs, especially their butter cookies. read more

My wife really wanted to try this bakery out and have a piece of chocolate covered carrot cake and let me tell you it was over the top sweet. We sat outside and enjoyed the cool breeze and shared this piece of cake. I desperately needed a water to try to dilute the sugar rush so if you need a serious sugar rush look no further cause this bakery has a lot of treats to choose from. Hmm... I really want to give these folks 4 stars. However, nothing there was freshly baked - and it's a bakery! We had the Danish continental breakfast. The seedy rolls were stale - easily a day old. The danish was soft and flaky and delicious, but clearly not baked that morning. As far as the Aebelskiver, they do make that fresh. However, it doesn't come out until 9:30-10:00am. A better bet is to go a couple doors down to the Aebelskiver Cafe. They offer full hearty breakfast and Aebelskivers as soon as they open. However, I could give DMB four stars as a place to stop to pick up a box of pastries on the way home. read more

Cute bakery/cafe with the eye-catching ever-so-popular window display of animatronic little bakers. Can get packed during the Christmas holidays (first time we came) but had lots of open seating on the off season (July weekday). Lots of pastries / chocolates to choose from but we only tried their aebleskivers. It was our first time trying out the Danish pastry and it was just okay. We plan on trying other pastries / chocolates when we come back. Nice interior design and seating though! We enjoyed a few minutes there with our small treat. read more
