Busy place but worth the wait. Their bread is very crispy and delicious. The bread with the jams were great. I was particularly not a fan of the enclair though (wouldn't recommend unless you like whipped cream). Otherwise great place to stop by in Solvang. Located on a cute street which was decked up for the holidays. Several choices on display which looked delicious. We had a hard time deciding what to take. Ultimately we chose the chocolate dipped butter cookies with a buttercream filling and the lemon and cream cheese danish with a cappuccino and a hot chocolate. The cream cheese part of the danish was out of the world. So so good. The danish by itself felt a rubbery. The lemon didnt feel fresh, more like an extract was too sweet. The butter cookies were good but the buttercream was also too sweet. The cappuccino was alright and the hot chocolate was good. Service was very good. All in all decent place, but was not blown away. This place is my go to bakery in the area, and every time I visit this is the last place I stop to bring home sweets and cheese bread. The staff is always friendly, but the shop is always busy. It can be a little confusing to sort out where to stand in line, so take care not to cut in front of people who may have been standing there first. They could use some improvement with that, by marking where a line starts and not having so many people waiting at the counter. I must suggest the baked cheese bread, and it's nice you can get it sliced also. It does spoil fairly fast, so try to eat it while it's fresh. read more

The style of this bakery is open. The prices of the teachers are pretty expensive. It was not busy on the bakery side. The restaurant side looked busy. There was so many stuff to look and pick. But I had to control myself since this was the first bakery I hit. I wanted to hit all of them to find the best cream cheese Danish. This place came in second. The price killed it but hey we are here on a day vacay. We got cream cheese danish, French waffle raspberry and buttercream and a cream puff which the kids picked. I really liked the French waffle. Stopped by Solvang on my down the PCH to try some Danish treats. Got a bunch of things because everything looked so pretty and delicious. Unfortunately, when I got to sit down to enjoy my baked goodies I was a bit disappointed. All I really have to say is that I was left unsatisfied afterwards. The one thing I LOVE here is their Cinnamon Danish! For those who love Olsen's cinnamon rolls, you NEED to try this and they just might win you over! Aebelskivers and Solvang goes hand in hand, so we walked into the first bakery that serves it while walking around. It took a few minutes to prep it because they will warm it up for you. Then off we go outside with high hopes to enjoy our light and fully balls with strawberry jams and powder sugar. Have to admit the jam was pretty good, however the dough of balls was just ...dough. It was just dense dough with no taste. This may just be the way how Aebelskivers is, but it's definitely not anything special. When I got home to check my credit card online after our Pismo trip weekend, I saw that I was charge $8 instead of $4 as advertised for these balls. I had to dispute my credit card for that $4 credit, definitely not paying anymore for it. It may be an honest mistake, but check your credit card for the correct amount being charge. read more

My first Danish pastry experience! Previously I only had Costco Danishes which are sugar bombs. The Danishes here (I tried an apple cream cheese one) were surprisingly much lighter and had a nice saltiness/almost savoriness to the pastry part that balanced out the fillings well. I also tried the French waffle with raspberry and cream and it was so delicate and had a ton of flaky layers that melted away. The princess cake was light and fresh, with a good amount of marzipan. Fantastic range, especially of danishes. The cold case was mouth-wateringly full and exciting to choose from. Every other table was blocked off so you aren't ever seated close to other customers. Hand sanitizer is provided. Zigged instead of zagged so that we could pass through Solvang on our way to San Jose and the timing couldn't have been anymore perfect! This server Madison, has an attitude in which when I came back to tell her that I ordered the avleskiver shw answered back Saying "well you did not check it". I visited with a friend on April 19th. We are locals. Being the middle of the week, it wasn't busy. The pastry was very good and the coffee was just mediocre. The service was good. The young lady that waited on us was friendly and chatted with us a bit. For all of this I give them a 5 . The problem was that they no longer take cash. Only plastic. My bill was $7.61. I wanted to pay cash and not use a credit card for such a small purchase. They no longer provide senior discounts or locals discounts. Who does the owner think is going to keep them in business when it's slow and there are no tourists in town??? It's the locals. These are all changes since the first of the year. I will NOT be back.
