I really loved the original location of Danji, but their reopened spot was a bit of a let down. Came in a group of three and we tried the tofu, dumplings, bulgogi sliders, tteokboki, bossam, and fried rice. Aside from the tofu, nothing was memorable. Dumplings were over cooked (hard), and the fried rice egregiously lacking flavor. Was also considerably pricey (total around $250 for three people). Cocktails are much better. Got the Electric Slide and Korean Englishman cocktails. Korean Englishman is a great martini. Wanted to try the five faces, but they were out of the omija. Points for having a great soju list too! Service was good, and the space is cute. Given its reputation and my memories, Danji is maybe worth a revisit, but not for a while until they work out their kinks.

I have been excited to try Danji for some time now. The ingredients were definitely high quality, but the whole meal was lacking flavor, spice, creativity, and overall depth. A lot of the dishes were bland and had very basic preparation. On top of this, the pricing was absurdly expensive for what it was. Paid almost $500 with my friend for 4 drinks total and the courses pictured here. Didn't feel like it was worth even close to what I paid for it, and I was definitely let down by my experience here which was a disappointment.

The beau and I have wanted to try Danji for a while now. We decided to go during what turned out to be Restaurant Week which we normally ignore. However they had a great featured tasting menu that we both chose so we could taste multiple things between the two of us. The food is flavorful, bold, and some items are quite spicy! The atmosphere is warm and cozy allowing you to really settle in and enjoy the experience. The manager was wonderfully accommodating and kind, something you don't see so much these days, especially in a restaurant of this size. These guys definitely know what they are doing.

11.06.2025@8:25p Walk-in for 3. We didn't have reservation so we sat on the bar. Is a cute little place. The service was friendly, especially the bartender was great. It gets busy here and there and he still try to keep up with us even though we didn't order any drink. Also gave my hubby a compliment glass of liquor . I am very please with the foods we have order and we all love the dipping sauce for the wings. We clean out every bit and pieces of everything we have order tonight . Would go back and try the rest of the menu items when get a chance.

Small cozy restayrant that serves tapa styles Korean food. We were debating doing the 7 course tasting menu, but decided against it because we wanted to try to galbi dish which wasn't included. We opted for three large plates, the bossom, galbi Jim and kimchi fried rice. The bossom was well cooked, and served with thinly sliced radish and scallions/pickled dried radish to make a wrap. All the elements paired well together. The galbi was a nice chunky tender piece of meet in a sweet beef stew. The kimchi fried rice fell short and was a bit bland, and kind of pricey for what it was. Dishes were served individually to share, and probably had to be because the table was so small!

We got the greatest hits seven course menu Food: - yellow tennis sashimi was perfect, light and well balance -Soft tofu was a stand out. It was perfectly balanced between the crispiness on the outside and the soft texture on the inside and was packed with flavor. This is a must order. - Wings were good but average. Probably our least favorite dish. - Beef sliders were delicious and an interesting play on Bulgogi. Every bite was a perfect blend of flavors. - pork belly was perfectly cooked and well balanced with the Radish - sable fish: second favorite dish of the night, hearty and decadent. - blood orange sorbet was great, Matcha ice cream was OK Service was outstanding It's on the smaller side so reservations for more than four or a must Would definitely go back and try the other dishes

My friend had recommended for us to catch up at Danji over dinner as she wanted to finally try it after the unfortunate fire, so I was excited to have an opportunity to try another spot of the Korean dining scene in NYC! The space inside the restaurant is definitely tight, but the dim-lit atmosphere made it seem more cozy. I did appreciate that there were wall hooks to hang coats so I didn't have to worry about my puffer while eating. For our meal, my friend and I shared the crispy tofu, bulgogi sliders, and bossam. Starting with the tofu, I did love the juxtaposition between the crunchy exterior and the soft interior, but felt that there could have been more flavor or dressing. The bulgogi was great, but the star of the sandwich was the milk buns. As for the bossam, it was so tender and juicy and I was glad that there were radish wraps available to complement it. However, I had two issues with our experience. First, my friend and I felt really rushed at the end of our meal. The servers were attentive in that they removed plates, cleaned, and brought the next dish very promptly...but it was a little too immediate - as soon as we took our last bites, the servers whisked everything away. This was no problem until we had just finished the bossam and then right away, we were asked if we wanted anything else and when we said we were thinking about it, the waiter came back again in two minutes to ask again. This time, when we said no, the check was brought without us asking for it yet, and then we were checked in on again in a minute for our cards. I understand that speed and efficiency are important both for the quality of service and the running of the restaurant, but it was the manner in which all of this was done that really confused us. We had been sitting for less than an hour and were basically ushered out. I would've understood if we had been lingering for over 90 minutes (which I feel like is a standard allotment of time for a table), but this was not the case. This was disappointing as the point of going to a fine dining restaurant like this is to savor the food AND company of the meal. If we wanted to quickly eat and leave somewhere, we would have picked a fast food chain. We ended up having to search for a spot nearby to continue the last 20 minutes of our conversation and had a bad taste left in our mouths. My next issue was concerning the price and value of the meals. I understand that restaurants are entitled to setting their prices based on the hard work, ingredients, and finesse that goes into the dishes, and I respect the effort that it takes to produce a restaurant meal. I am also aware that at fine dining restaurants, there will be higher price tags on dishes that may be cheaper elsewhere. However, I felt that these dishes in particular were overpriced for the portion sizes and items that we received, and not worth the amount of money. This is my own personal opinion so please take it with a grain of salt, but for context, I am Korean and grew up cooking or going out to eat Korean food every day so this was my basis of judgment. I am not writing this amount of detail and opinion to purely bash on the restaurant, because I honestly thought the dinner was okay and I love to support Korean-run businesses and hope that Danji continues to do well. I just wanted to provide some details to show why this is a three-star rating for me and why I'm not pressed to return.

Fried tofu was delicious perfectly fried on the outside and soft on the inside. Would order again. The fish tasted familiar like mom's cooking in the best way. Bulgogi burgers were a little sweet for my taste but still yummy. Service was attentive.

Danji is the best Korean food in the city. I've been going to Chef Hooni Kim's restaurants since I've moved to NYC 10 yrs ago. All the food is locally sourced so you know where all the ingredients are coming from. Best spicy rice cakes hands down. Danji is a must so don't bother with K town

Do they have a private dinning room?

    No they do not.

    Is this restaurant wheelchair accessible?

I would say a wheel chair can get in and out. Street level. Moveable chairs in the dining area.

Is it okay to bring a child and do they offer high chairs?

I'm not sure officially but in my humble opinion, as a parent of a now 2 year old, no. The space is relatively small and half the tables are high tops. If it was family friendly I would probably dine there at least once a week!

Anyone know if they offer the tasting menu for lunch?

    I don't believe so.

Stepping into this place feels like you're in some secret, super special cocktail club. Decor is super high end, vibes are upscale AF. The mint Moroccan tea gave the drink a cool, refreshing taste on every sip. I also tried the Silver Screen, the closest drink I could find to an old fashioned. It was interesting, there was definitely a hint of a buttery taste. Overall a really balanced bourbon drink. I walked in and found room at the standing tables. The bar seating was plentiful and comfortable. There is plenty of space for people to stand behind the bar or a high top tables enjoying happy hour after work. If you go at 4:30 or 5, it's a bit calmer as the after work crowd trickles in. And as the evening went on, it started to get more and more packed, and it became a really lively vibe. After my friend left for another function, I stuck around a little bit longer for a little solo dinner. I had a glass of Prosecco off the happy hour menu followed by a dirty martini, and I did request to look at their full dinner menu because there was a couple items that I wanted to try. I wanted to try the duck Ragu and halloumi cheese, both of which were absolutely fantastic. The halloumi cheese was perfectly grilled and flavorful, and the duck Ragu was very comforting. I highly recommend both dishes. I ended up chatting with a woman sitting next to me who happened to work with select apertivo, and next thing I know one of the bartenders handed me a lovely bright cocktail to try on the house. It was a refreshing bubbly Barlume spritz that I'll definitely have to get again next time. Overall, I had a really great time at Barlume. The service was excellent from the servers and the bartenders, and they were all very attentive, personable and friendly throughout the evening. Did you know this is where the Beecher's used to be?! RIP, I miss their Mac n cheese.... the vibe is completely different now (think extravagant Mediterranean vibes, it's very instagram-mable with the beautiful bar area). I had made a reservation for 5:30 (again, life with a baby is very different)- we arrived early but the staff were very gracious and were able to get us seated. They seated us in a side alcove area where they had cushioned seating, which was very helpful. What we Ordered: Drinks: Barlume Spritz and Hibiscus Mule (N/A cocktail)- drinks were good, nothing too special but we appreciated the cute stirrers Appetizer: Halloumi- grilled halloumi with roasted eggplant puree. The saltiness of the halloumi went so well with the creaminess of the eggplant. (Baby liked the eggplant puree too hah) Entrees: Lobster Arrabiatta and Duck Ragu and Truffle Pizza. My husband got the lobster arrabiatta and was raving about how delicious it was. He said it was the perfect level of spice. My duck ragu was served with busiate (a corkscrew shaped pasta) which I thought 'trapped' the sauce perfectly so you get a nice saucy bite each time. Pasta was perfectly al dente- my one gripe is that I felt the duck ragu was a bit too salty, which even managed to overpower the tomato flavor. We shared the truffle pizza, which came topped off with stracciatella, porcini mushrooms and shaved truffles. I liked the porcini mushrooms on the pizza, this was a first for me. For dessert (which we had to gobble down quickly because baby was starting to get fussy) we got the pistachio cake. SAVE SPACE IN YOUR STOMACH FOR THIS ONE!!! This was my favorite in the whole meal, the kataifi gives it that wonderful crumbliness and it went soooo well with the mango sorbet that's served with it. Recommend for a nice dinner with friends or a cool place to grab drinks! 4.5 stars

It's a small area with the tables pretty close together. We were given a table in the far corner, which was perfect for comfort and looking out at the restaurant. Two of us each ordered a glass of house wine, which were "ok." We opted for the Boqueria Experience, which is $65 per person and includes a variety of chef-selected tapas, a paella and an order of the restaurant's special JAMÓN IBÉRICO DE BELLOTA, which is described on the charcuterie menu as aged 48 months, with deep marbling, rich and nutty flavor. We enjoyed most of the tapas, including the potatoes, the beef/lamb balls, the salad and bruschetta. The croquettes were "ok" with the heavy aeoli masking some of the flavor. The seafood paella was good and was different from ones I've had in the past, with the caramelized layer on the bottom. Yum. Honestly, none of us was a big fan of the Jamon Iberico de Bellota. I'm sure it's special and luxurious, but we found it not to have much flavor. Frankly, it was a big disappointment for us. The service was beyond excellent. We were very pleased with the timing of the presentation of the meal, the superb water service and the general enthusiasm and pleasantness of the Staff. We will come back and try different items on the ala carte menu. I thought there would be more seafood and meat tapas offerings in the "Experience". Instead, it was a lot of cheese, vegetables, dates and bread. Although $65 per person likely was a good value for what we got, I think the tapas items were heavy on the lower cost tapas and that it wasn't a true top-of-the-line "Experience". A seafood dish or even a chicken dish (chicken wings) instead of one of the two croquette offerings would have helped.
