I came here for dinner with friends and we all enjoyed it! The interior of the restaurant is cozy and we got a booth seating. Service was fairly quick, and staff was friendly. We ordered a variety of dishes: the cucumbers, kaisendons (the mini and uni ones), the squid, the chicken and meat assortments, chicken karaage, and okonomiyaki. Everything was delicious. My friends loved their cucumbers and mini kaisendon, while I loved their squid and uni kaisendon. The skewers were delicious and juicy, and I highly recommend trying their assortments. Definitely one of my favorite izakayas in the city, so far.

Love this Japanese tapas restaurant! Made a reservation for 6pm and the restaurant was pretty empty. The service was very nice and our food came out quickly Everything I ordered was delicious but my two favorites were the zabuton steak and the hamachi tataki. The zabuton steak was really tender and seasoned to perfection. The hamachi tataki was so yummy with the onions and tomatoes. Haven't had yellowtail in so long and it definitely hit the spot! The famous tsukune chicken meatball didn't have much flavor without the dipping sauce but I do have the say, the sauce is exceptional. It's a free range egg yolk and yuan dipping sauce and it really made the meatball delicious. I used the leftover dipping sauce and dipped the enoki mushrooms wrapped in smoked bacon and it was soooo yummy!! The golden roll was good but nothing special I was very content and full at the end of my meal, which surprised me since it is a bunch of small plates. I shared everything with a friend and it was enough food for the both of us :)

Chill, cozy spot. I enjoyed their different selections of sake. Standard izakaya fare, but I loved how they have buta tomato - I don't see it too often at yakitori spots anymore.

Came here after work with a group of four friends on a Thursday last week it wasn't too busy at 5pm. This is a cute little cool place in Nomad. Our waitress was bubbly and very accommodating. Place is decorated with cool graffiti art. We had all our food to share. Everything was delicious. I recommend try the Teriyaki Iza they come table side to slice it for you. Absolutely get the assorted sashimi it's fantastic. The drinks are all great try a couple you'll have a good time. Definitely coming here again soon!

I walked in around 10p and grabbed a seat at the empty bar. The lights were dimmed and music was playing low - the perfect ambiance after being overstimulated for the last 8 hours. I ordered the cucumber salad and the chicken meatball to start. The cucumber salad was really fresh and bright. I really enjoyed the depth of umami flavor in the seaweed salad but the sesame oil was a touch too heavy for me. I wanted some sake but being that I'd been drinking champagne all day, thought I should hydrate with some water instead. I was stuck between ordering the Tsukune chicken meatball (these take 20 minutes to cook) and some chicken skins - so I got both! The meatball was so flavorful OMG! And paired with the dipping sauce?! Chefs kiss! The chicken skins were made to perfection. Spent under $40 for four small plates + tip. I'll certainly be back with more company.

Me and my friends went to a nearby restaurant and the food (appetizers) wasn't good, so we left without order entrees. We hopped in to this joint on the same block and thankfully, also glad that they had a table available for us. Good vibe, friendly staffs and good Yakitori. We couldn't be happier after the 1st place. We didn't order much here since we ate a little before, but would definitely come back for a full meal experience. Thank you Izakaya Nomad for saving our night :)

Delicious skewers, chicken karaage, lobster and uni rice bowls and hot n cold sake. We came in around 9:30pm on a Friday and were very hungry. They delivered delicious food and great service. The beef skewers were my favorite. The vibe at that time was quiet yet casual and there were still several tables and guests enjoying their food. I would highly recommend if you're in the area and need a snack or just a full-on meal.

3.5 / 5.0 - I came to Izakaya Nomad last week for after-work drinks & dinner. The place had a cool vibe and our table was sectioned off, which created a nice, intimate setting. Their service was very attentive, too. However, I have mixed feelings about the food & drinks, which were quite pricey. For food, we ordered: - Short Rib ($28+) - Tako Mini Salad ($9+) - Yakitori - Beef Short Rib ($11+) - Yakitori - Eggplant ($7+) - Yakitori - Oyster Mushroom ($7+) - Yakitori - Avocado ($7+) - Salmon Onigiri ($12+) The Tako Mini Salad was the prettiest dish and I really enjoyed it. I didn't understand why the Yakitori took 20-30 min to prepare (which they do inform you of when you order), but the Eggplant and Oyster Mushroom were also tasty. My least favorite was the Avocado, even though I love avocados. This one was overcooked and there was so much soy sauce in the middle I had to pour it out. The Salmon Onigiri was also with raw salmon, not cooked, which was unexpected. It lacked flavor and was simply overpriced. On top of the food, the drinks racked up our bill and we ended up paying nearly $100 per person, which was expensive for what it was. The cocktails were $17+ each and $13+ during happy hour. I did like their squared ice cubes. Maybe it would be best to stick to happy hour with some small bites.

We made a reservation for a Friday night and were seated right away. The ambiance was good but I would have preferred the booth area over the table area. We got a roll, couple of skewers and the okonomiyaki and all were good. The only complaint I had was that the food came out kind of late and at really different times but it was not too big of a deal. I would recommend for a casual night of drinking and eating!

Visited Izakaya Nomad on a Thursday night after work with a reservation. I was seated immediately upon arrival and ordered a cocktail while I waited for my friend. The ambiance in the restaurant is kinda dark and like an upscale end izakaya. We ended up ordering a variety of dishes to share (recommend). Some of my favorites were the yakitori chicken meatballs - came with a raw egg sauce that was soooo good - and the kimchi pork dish, which had a perfect blend of kimchi, pork belly, and tofu. The drinks were good but the cocktail selection felt a little small. Overall, I thought it was a little pricey for what you get, but everything we were served tasted great. The service was great while we were there too.

Great place for quick bites and drinks! But must note that the yakitori (which is roughly one serving) takes up to 25 minutes for the kitchen to prepare, so would recommend ordering other dishes while waiting. Our sushi roll - Astro Boy - was the first dish to come out: pretty standard sushi roll, topped high with spicy tuna and doused with sauce. We were then served our Tuna Tartare - I was expecting more of a puréed/tartare texture but got cubed tuna. The avocado mash was perfectly seasoned to complement the tuna. Lastly, we were served our yakitori: * Zabuton steak - really tender, juicy, and well marinated; paired really well with the wasabi from our sushi roll * Chicken thigh with Yuzukosho - very soft and juicy too * Chicken meatballs - juicy and mildly flavored with a crumbly texture

Customer service was great. Food was hit and misses depending on what you order. The place was a bit dark if you wanted to take pictures but it was great to chat with your party. Our server was really nice. She also let us know if we wanted to take any pictures before she cut things up. Awesome! Now the real focus needs to be on the food: My party ordered a whole bunch for the table. My fav was the beef tataki, beef tongue, chicken gizzard, and the veg tempura. My party also said they enjoy the sashimi that comes with the Tuesday special and the godzilla roll. Beside those, everything else fell short - either too dry or could be more tasty. Definitely, a bunch could use extra seasoning or salt with the exception of the short rib entree. That was salty enough. Bill came out to close to $500 for 6 people. I was left with a feeling of how much it could have been better in terms of food. I wouldn't be back for the fact of food not being up to par if they charge those prices.

I've taken a lot of friends here over the course of 10 years, and without fail, every one of them has walked out mindblown--and why wouldn't they?! The wait times have gotten better over the years (probably because people are waiting for the restaurant next door), but the food and drinks here are still top-notch. Staff is always great, and they all work so efficiently. I am generally a fan of izakayas, but there are very few that offer plates that are designed to be shareable, and this is one of the reasons the food here is so enjoyable in a small group setting. I am obviously biased and think they can do no wrong, but some of my staples that have stood the test of time: Kimchi cream udon, avocado tofu salad, salmon sashimi tacos, and the kani cream croquettes. I was so excited when they opened an outpost in Flushing years ago, but sadly it shuttered during COVID. It is definitely small and there is always going to be a wait, so don't be those people who come in with a huge group during prime time because they like to move (getting customers in and out) very fast.

Half of their menu is vegan-friendly. Spoiler alert: they will open a permanent location in June/July! *Chicken Karaage*** This chicken karaage was TO DIE FOR -- the caramelized sugar lemon on the side took it to a whole new level. The boneless chicken was so tender and juicy with a thin deep-fried batter. The meat was extremely refreshing after squeezing the lemon and dipping in honey mustard sauce. * Handrolls - Salmon Yuzu, Tuna, Yellowtail** Y'all need to order their handrolls! The sashimi piece was thick and long enough to cover the vinegar rice. It would be a pain to pick which handroll I like more. They layered up the flavors of each piece with house sauces, shiso leaf, fried leek, avocado etc. Wish they would add a handroll set in the future. *Pork Cutlet Curry The curry was a blend of shredded meat, mashed potatoes, tomatoes and grapes (yes grapes!). The pork loin cutlets were crispy and not heavily breaded. The meat was a bit dry, yet it was cut in thin slices so it didn't bother me much. I found the multigrain rice even more enjoyable than white rice with its crunchiness. *Matcha Crème Brûlée** WE LOVED THIS. Matcha flavor is strong. The caramelized top and creamy matcha custard complemented really well. Trust me, their crème brûlée is the best dessert to finish off your meal. *Vegan Matcha Cheesecake This cheesecake was homey and light. Matcha flavor was tasteable but not very strong. And I never understood this either. We ordered 3 omakases to share amongst 2 people, and then a ton of a la carte dishes to share. Which were such a beautiful compliment to our omakase dishes. We got the "O" which was a 9 course meal with some cooked and raw options. From the a la carte menu, we ordered the chicken karaage, agedashi tofu, hamachi kama, clay pot rice with salmon and roe, sukiyaki noodles, 2 different rolls (tuna and salmon) and of course the uni taster (which were 3 different kinds of sushi from California and 2 from Hokkaido). The agedashi tofu was the worst amongst our group for a weird texture, definitely did not feel like tofu. The best dishes were the uni taster, chicken karraage, and hamachi kama all from the a la carte menu. This is how you can tell a authentic sushi restaurant vs not. Overall, definitely recommend and absolutely order a la carte to get a full tasting of the dishes.

Great value for food here!…read more We were able to get a last minute reservation and this place did not disappoint! We both got one of the course sets and it left us full, the price was definitely worth it for quality sushi with different variety of fish and dishes. Would love to come back and try other courses as well! They also have a counter with omakase it seems.
