I know other coworkers go to a few other places I will not name, but those other places charge a minimum of two bucks higher or more for the same sandwich. The employees are always so sweet, and they make sure to get your order correct - which is awesome, considering how many places don't really care if your order is right! I really appreciate that - they double check your order before starting it. It's a basic cafe, and they serve up the typical sandwiches you'd expect. I'll be honest, I've never ordered anything but sandwiches, so I don't know what else they offer! The size of the sandwiches is something else I like. They are not enormous, and can't fit your mouth around them, NY deli style sandwiches (which are great, but there's a time and place for everything!). These are the perfect size, with the perfect ratio of bread to filling, at least to me. I want to be able to finish the whole sandwich without feeling like I overate or am stuffed to the gills. So the portions are the correct size, regardless of what anyone else might say. My go to's are a basic turkey with mayo and lettuce, or a hot corned beef with swiss and mustard on rye. The real issue I had was the dining experience. The tables were all dirty in the dining room, everything was sticky like a small child with jam hands. And the biggest problem, the heat. It was a 90+ heat index yesterday and there was no AC on in this place, or if there was, it was not sufficient. I looked around at everyone else red faced and sweating and sat there so hot I could barely eat. My ice in my drink melted completely in five minutes. It was horrible. The dining room itself is quite pleasant, decorated with cute cottage-like motifs. Nothing over the top, just enough to feel homey. The menu too was relatively minimalistic; seven sandwiches, five salads, two or three daily soups, and other snacks, drinks and a few deli goods. Not a demerit for me; that often tells me that put more emphasis on quality than variety, and that was certainly the case here. Ordered the tomato, roasted garlic and spinach soup, in addition to the Hungry Hungry Hipster salad. The soup was super flavorful and savory, with each of the main components in the bar featuring prominently. The garlic was not covered up by the tomato in the broth, and the spinach give very mild bitterness that balanced the bowl. Likewise, the salad was super fresh, filling, and bursting with flavor, with a base of tender kale on a bed of quinoa, brimming with sweet fruits like red apples, figs and date bits, tart fruits like Granny Smith apples and cranberries, topped with nutty Manchego cheese and a sweetly-spiced maple-mustard vinaigrette, and ringed with mini roast chicken cutlets ($2.50 Extra). Nothing about this salad was lacking in my opinion. The owners even dropped off a piece of candy at my table as I finished; I don't generally eat mass-produced confections but it was a very sweet gesture. Overall, I was very pleased to find this place for lunch and highly encourage anyone who happens to be in downtown Buffalo at midday to stop in. A true "hidden gem" that the influencers ironically haven't found yet. Keep in mind, as other reviewers have noted, they are a bit pricey, but I'd happily pay a bit more for this kind of quality from a small business any day.

I've been getting emails with specials from Jessie's, so I decided to stop in one day I didn't bring lunch. There was not much ready-to-eat food, so I grabbed a chicken salad with crasins from the cooler, which was pretty good on the go. Today I placed a mobile order for chicken cordon blue sandwich with fries, got a text when it was ready for pick up, about 20 minutes later. They use an app called Takeout Taxi that's similar to DoorDash, very convenient when you only have 30 minutes for lunch, but you can't order the specials on the app. You can call ahead too. It's nice to have a place inside the building to get good food.
