I'd love to give this one 4.5, but again...no half stars available. I'd give it a five, but it's a bit small, cramped, and needs some updating on decor and remodeling. But who cares about all of that when you are stuffing your face full of some of the best BBQ I've ever had? Being a Texan, I'm always leery of places that say they served BBQ anywhere in the Carolinas. I've been burned time and again. Not a fan of pulled pork with vinegar, potato salad with saurkraut or sugar in it, and not having beef on the menu. This place HAS BEEF! Oh my goodness, and delicious beef it is. Sliced with almost no fat, amazing smoky bark, and sooooo much! I also tried the chopped pork, being brave, as I could choose my own sauce. And I LOVED it. I could add a little sweet sauce, a lot of hot sauce, then a touch of mustard, to suit my own tastes. My younger dining partner had the ribs. He didn't say much, but occasionally I heard a "mmm" from him. The older dining partner, my sweetie, and BBQ conneseuir (sp??) said it was the best BBQ he's had since we left Texas. I personally think it's better than any I've had in Texas. The potato salad has this creaminess to it that's hard to describe, really amazing contrast to the spicy heat of the BBQ sauce. The baked beans are utterly amazing. I understand the comment one yelper made about making a meal just off the beans. A hint of molasses, a bit of spicy heat, and sooo good. Unfortunately, I didn't read yelp before dining here, or I would have tried the hush puppies. Next time, and believe me, there will be a next time, I will. I was unimpressed with the Texas toast. It was a bit dry, and if ya'll can't Paula Deen butter it, then just forget it. But edible slathered in BBQ. Literally an old shoe was taste good with their sauce on it. But the toast is great for sopping up the yumminess left on your plate. I choose the 2 meats plate, and had plenty to bring home for leftovers. Sweetie had the 3 meat, and didn't leave hardly a drop. My youngest diner also finished all of his ribs. I love the fact that Carolinians can get their BBQ with pulled pork and vinegar, and in the same place, the rest of us can also enjoy our version of BBQ. There tea is really good too. A bit strong, but I love it that way. I drink unsweetened, so I couldn't say if it was too sweet. But most southerners, Texas included, love their tea super sweet. We were all too full to try the desserts, but Sweetie took a brownie home and had it later. He said it was really good. I'm looking forward to lunch leftovers. :) read more

An amazing BBQ spot! I always get the brisket and wings and they are always so good! I have also ordered a deep fried turkey from Danny's for a few years on Thanksgiving and with a little BBQ sauce, it is a masterpiece. I give Danny's BBQ 5 stars because it's probably my favorite place in the area to get lunch. (I work in Morrisville.) It does get really busy at noon during the week, but the service is quick and friendly. Just be prepared: this is not traditional North Carolina BBQ (pulled pork with a vinegar / pepper sauce). I appreciate most all types of BBQ, so Danny's is a nice change from the traditional places. I love their brisket and chopped pork. Their baked beans are very tasty (on the sweet side, rather than the spicy/hot side that many NC BBQ places favor) and their potato salad is great. I've had desserts there a couple times, and they were very good too. The staff has always been very friendly & very quick to refill drinks. Don't forget the sweet tea!! (p.s. One negative reviewer complained about ordering sliced pork loin. This meat is exactly what the menu describes -- slices from a pork loin. I go to the Danny's in Morrisville and I really love it. The food is great and inexpensive, my order always comes out quick and correct, the staff is friendly and the wait is usually good. It is not the typical " Carolina" BBQ. I really enjoy the hush puppies. The sweet tea is also some of the best I have had in N.C. Danny's is the best BBQ in the triangle in my opinion. read more

Delicious! This place is in my top 3 BBQ spots in the Triangle. I went here a few weeks ago for the first time (my wife found it on Groupon) and gave it a try. First, awesome customer service. The waitress that we had was very patient with us and was very informative about the food. Second, the food was amazing! From the BBQ to the sides, to the sauces, to the dessert - it was all good. I have to give this 5 stars based on both history and food. The missus and I used to come here when we were dating, after we got married....we brought our kids here when they were in high-chairs. Got them to eat bits and pieces of bbq and baked beans...what a mess. And we still trek it out to Cary for this occasionally. They miss the rondel where you could drop a coin and watch it spin around 50 times before dropping in the bucket. Be careful of what you order, when the missus and I were dating, the attractive waitress asked me what I wanted to eat. Instead of saying "Turkey Breast Plate"...I got my words jumbled and said, "Perky Breast Plate". I turned about 3 sheets of red and mumbled..."uh, that didn't come out right". The best BBQ place I have been too. Great food and great people. This place is small and tucked away in a medical office park near Western Wake Hospital which has 2 important advantages in natural disasters, 1, very few people "relatively" know it's there, and 2, it's on a hospital grid which gets priority when they are restoring power grids. Went there when we had a big ice storm that shut NC down for a week or two the day after the storm and they were open and serving hot fresh food. read more

It's good, it's fast, and it's priced fairly. The Brunswick stew is really exceptional. I don't care much for their green beans. The beef brisket is always cooked just right and flavored well. They have three sauces on the table and all are good. Don't leave without trying the banana pudding. This is a great place for kids, or a casual business lunch. If you are a fan of Sonny's BBQ in Florida, you will love Danny's! It's not traditional NC BBQ, the vinegar based style, so if you are expecting that you will be disappointed. The meat is slow cooked to perfection. Topped with the sweet smoky BBQ sauce - it's just like being in FL. The side dishes are all perfect. Love their coleslaw - it doesn't have onions and is creamy and delicious. The corn nuggets are awesome too. The place was busy and smoky, a good sign for a BBQ restaurant. I got takeout for lunch. Whenever I go to a new BBQ place, I always try the first few bites without sauce so I can judge it properly. Good BBQ should not require sauce. I ordered the brisket, and it definitely passed the "no sauce test." It was lean as described on the menu, and had more of a drier, smokier flavor. Perfect for bark lovers! From a born and raised West Tennessee girl, so I'm partial to Memphis style bbq. That being said the sauces were good, too. i eat here all the time and the quality is good and solid if not overly exciting. the pulled pork is really good. Very good actually. Likewise for the smoked turkey. Ribs I would pass on - this is not their strong area and can't hold a whisper of flavor to The Pitt downtown (but then the Pitt is really pricey). Sweat tea is really good as is the cole slaw and vanilla pudding. not so good... the potato salad and the fact that fried okra is not a regular side. You have to order it as a extra. read more

I stopped by for a quick lunch, saw a Catfish sandwich and some sides! I love BBQ, but after tasting the table side sauces? Not impressed. I am a Vinagerholic, the Eastern Vinegar version Sauce was way to sweet. The bothers were hot and Memphis/Texas style. The catfish was a frozen, breaded not good sandwich. I am a LONG time customer going to Danny's BBQ when he use to have his place over by the Cary Mall. My children were babies at the time. Now they are 26 and 28 years old so we've known Danny a long time. First how many one could say this is the worst BBQ I have no idea? Went in to pick up a quick dinner. I was greeted by a very friendly hostess who gave me suggestions and took my order. I got the 2 meat combo with chicken and turkey and a side of jalapeño corn nuggets. I thought the meat was good although the chicken was a bit dry. The corn nuggets were interesting; they were like fritters but had liquid cheese inside which I wasn't expecting. They were tender and crunchy on the outside. I enjoyed them but they were too rich to eat more than a few. BBQ sauce was good too; I tried the sweet and the vinegar ones. My food was ready quickly and I was on my way. I came here because of an add in the Hampton Inn restaurant directory. It didn't hurt that they offered a discount for Hampton Inn guests. I love good barbecue and Danny's has it. I had the 2 meat combo - pork and turkey. Both were good by themselves, but the sauces were awesome as well. The waitress told me they make all the sauces in house - added plus. They had a very hot sauce, a mustard based sauce, a sweet hickory sauce, and a vinegar base sauce. I tried each sauce and have to say that they were all delicious. My favorite was the vinegar base but everyone has their own tastes. The employees were very nice and service was friendly and quick. I recommend eating here and seeing what they have to offer. I am in town for a few more days, and I will definitely be coming back. read more

I've been meaning to try Danny's for a while now, and what better time to try when I have a $10 gift certificate in hand? Location is strange (located in what seems like an office park) but easily accessible -- right across the street from the Cary Walmart. The service was stellar and quick. Our food was out in 10 minutes after ordering! My mother-in-law and I tried the beef brisket, chopped pork, and smoked chicken wings, along with Brunswick stew, coleslaw, and collards as the sides. Unlike most BBQ places around here, Danny's serves their plates with Texas toast instead of hush puppies, so we ordered a plate of those as well (only $1.25). Each table is equipped with four bottles of housemade sauces: one mustard-based, another similar to any traditional BBQ sauce, a spicy one (maybe made with sriracha?) and a sweet vinegar sauce. We enjoyed all but the spicy one. I like that they cater to folks that may not enjoy vinegar-based BBQ as well. The food was great: I felt like I was being served a homecooked meal. The brisket and chopped pork were excellent: extremely tender and was perfect with the sauces. We did not enjoy the smoked chicken wings as we both felt they were lacking in flavor. Our group was looking for some local BBQ, without going into the middle of nowhere where the real stuff is I'm sure. Anyway, this sesms to eb the real thing, no chain restaurant with props to make them appear to be local. Instead Danny's is a no frills, real food stop. I chose the baby back ribs, but others in the group had chicken, beef, or pulled pork and everyone was pleased. Nice assortment of sides that had that home cooking taste. My only mistake was to ask if they corn bread seconds after the waitress told our table that the only bread they had was hushpuppies... the waitress gave me a BBQ Nazi glare and replied that "we only have hudh pupples".. We've enjoyed Danny's for years. Wonderfully smoked pork! So nice for our family, some like sweet ketchup based sauce and others prefer vinegar. Great pork and everyone puts on their sauce of choice. They also have great coleslaw, baked beans, fried okra and hushpuppies. I think their brisket can be a bit dry but it's tender and sauce can fix the dry complaint.
