I stopped at Danny's Bar-B-Que for lunch. It is located near the Wake Med Cary hospital. There are two entrances to the restaurant and both will lead you to the counter to order. After you order and pay, you find a seat and your food is brought out to you. The dining area is a good size and the sauces are on the table so you can try a bunch of them. If you need a drink refill, you just take your cup back to the counter. I went with the chopped pork plate and chose fries and a half of corn on the cob. It came with a slice of Texas toast. I'd return and try some other items on the menu.

was referred to this place as being one of the best bbq joints in town but unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. granted, we did order to go and had a 30 minute drive. we ordered two, two meat combos. we got smoked chicken, pulled pork, ribs, and brisket. for sides, we got coleslaw, hush puppies, and fried corn. the good news was that the ribs were delicious. super moist, smoky, and tender. i could've finished a rack to myself. the brisket was a little on the dry side and not much smoke flavor that i'd hope for. the smoked chicken had good smoke flavor and was dry as well. the pulled pork didn't have much seasoning or smoke flavor either. for the sides, the cheese curds and hush puppies were great and super tasty. but the fried corn wasn't anything special. couldn't really taste the natural corn flavor. despite all of this, i will give the benefit of the doubt that we did order to go and had a long drive. the staff were super friendly as well. this review won't deter me from coming back. i agree it would've been better to dine in, which i will do next time.

Have been coming here since it first opened & owner on site. Miss it being in MORRISVILLE! The portions of pork have decreased & price increased. I still love the sweet bbq sauce the best & the baked beans. Remember to ask for your Texas toast to be toasted on both sides. The blackberry cobbler doesn't have the great taste I recall. Waitresses still very nice. Park on the back side as front side parking has other store front names listed.

    Our meal for lunch.

The smoked meats here are absolutely delicious!!! I had the brisket and chicken. Collard greens were ok (too many stems). The backed beans were delicious also. The banana pudding was good (only one slice of banana is the cup). The down side is the food is pricey.

    Cute pig log

Service was great. Order at counter and pay before sitting down. Green beans were really good. Turkey was decent.

I ended up here after a horrible experience at O Charley's. They made for a nice save! Simple place, but the food was good. I was looking for more of a after work hang out so I took the food to go and walked to a nearby bar. The brisket sandwich was great in the most simple way. Good fries! And the price was more than reasonable.

Bottom line: I had a good beef brisket plate for lunch recently at Danny's Bar-B-Que. Do not be daunted by the line to the counter to order as the turn around time in getting your meal once ordered is pretty quick. Delicious results, and I am a fan! The Deets: I had the chance to finally visit Danny's Bar-B-Que for lunch recently with a group. There is plenty of parking around a corporate part/shopping center area. Once inside, there is ample seating available both in booth and table formats, some large enough for a small group. Customers queue up and wait in line to go up to the counter to order at the register, and while you are in line you get to peruse their rather sizeable menu up on the wall. There was a little bit of a wait to get to place the order as the line was good sized but it was not a horrible wait time. All sorts of Southern delights are available on their menu such as pulled pork barbeque, beef brisket, chicken tenders, chicken wings, turkey breast, smoked chicken, pork spare ribs, even catfish and beer battered cod on the menu. When I got to the counter, my choice was the small beef brisket plate with two sides and Texas toast (I always imagine in my head the pronunciation being "Tex-uz" and don't ask me why). I chose as my two sides the creamy cole slaw and French fries. We took our seat at our table and I have to say, turnaround time to get the food was really quick, a definite plus for lunch time goers. My beef brisket was pretty tasty and not dried out for the most part, very good, and enhanced by the availability of the different type of barbeque sauces available on the table such as sweet, hot, mustard style, etc. I recommend use of the sauces to maximize your taste experience here. The sides of cole slaw and French fries were equally good as well. I can see why many people I know say that you need to stop by Danny's Bar-B-Que if you have not done so, and I am glad I finally did.

The shoestring okra is an appetizer that you have to try. I honestly could have eaten two plates, it is perfectly crispy and a bit spicy with a great aioli dipping sauce. We also had the heirloom tomatoes with goat cheese and the pork rinds and pimento cheese. They were all devoured and enjoyed by all. I ordered the cornmeal crusted catfish with grits and blistered okra. I honestly can't remember the last time I enjoyed a meal so much. The catfish and the grits paired together perfectly. As someone who grew up in the South and now lives in Miami, I have pretty high standards when it comes to chicken and waffles. The chicken was disappointingly dry and lacked seasoning, while the waffle tasted more like something pre-made and reheated than freshly prepared. The syrup didn't help matters either, tasting more like a heavily processed corn syrup product than real maple syrup. The loaded tater tots were the stronger of the two dishes. The tots themselves were impressively crunchy, and the toppings were generous. The pimento cheese added richness, while the red and green onions brought some welcome freshness and balance. Even so, the dish felt a bit dry overall and never quite rose above average. The bright spot was the service. Everyone was friendly, the food came out quickly. With so many great places to eat in Raleigh, this ended up feeling like a missed opportunity and, for me, wasn't the best use of valuable stomach space on a short visit to the city.

It has been a Raleigh institution for nearly 30 years, serving breakfast and lunch with a focus on traditional Southern home cooking. It's a classic North Carolina country restaurant filled with regulars, simple furnishings, brick columns, ceiling fans, and happy diners enjoying long lunches. Restaurants like this are becoming increasingly rare. This restaurant is well known across North Carolina and much of the Southeast. I am always surprised by how many people throughout North Carolina, east and west, know of it and have eaten here. It has been featured on WRAL's Tar Heel Traveler series featuring Scott Mason. The inside reminds me of restaurants that were built in the 1970s and 1980s and simply never felt the need to modernize. The terrazzo-style floor, brick columns, vinyl chairs, and ceiling fans all contribute to an authentic, lived-in atmosphere. It feels like a place designed for regular customers who want to remain in a time of family-owned local restaurants with loyal employees who know many of their patrons by first name. Their menu is unique and includes all-day breakfast featuring hand-patted sausage, country ham, homemade biscuits, red-eye gravy, grits, pancakes, and omelets; daily lunch specials that, depending on the day, include fried chicken, barbecue chicken, meatloaf, fried catfish, country-style steak, hamburger steak, pork chops, fried seafood, and turkey with dressing and gravy. Fresh vegetables also change daily and often include collards, butter beans, cabbage, squash and onions, yams, cucumbers, black-eyed peas, and other Southern staples such as fried okra. Meals are served with biscuits and hush puppies, reinforcing the old-fashioned Southern diner experience. Today, I had roasted turkey with plenty of gravy over dressing. It came with cranberry sauce. You get two sides, and I had black-eyed peas and fried okra. The turkey was moist, and the gravy seemed homemade, covering the turkey as it rested on a bed of dressing. The fried okra had an even golden coating, and the black-eyed peas seemed slow-cooked and homemade. This is exactly what I've come to expect here. They always live up to their well-earned reputation as a place specializing in Southern comfort food. I drank a half-and-half mix of sweet and unsweetened iced tea. No need to ask for a refill; the pitchers of both are left on the table. But that doesn't mean you'll miss your waitress for very long; she'll check on you regularly. In other words, the service is every bit as good as the food, with plenty of old-fashioned Southern hospitality. Important things to consider when planning a trip: They only serve breakfast and lunch. They are open 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, and are closed Sunday and Monday. They accept cash and checks only--no credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, Venmo, or other electronic payment methods. The prices are reasonable enough that they won't break your wallet or checking account. There is an ATM on the premises for your convenience. I can't wait to go back. Great food, great service, great hospitality, and always a great experience.

I was thrilled that most of the menu was available. They were just out of the banana pudding. So I got to try the pecan wings I read about with the white sauce. It was so good. Then I got the chicken pot pie and biscuits. The pot pie had old biscuits for the topping, but the creamy mixture with large chunks of chicken was delicious. My biscuits came with honey and were served warm. I left with a slice of the chocolate-caramel-coconut cake, a side salad without onions, and a fried boneless thigh. The salad was made correctly, and the dressing was included. The salad was full of veggies, and the cake was rich and moist.
