Great location in Vista Village. Walk-up window. There's usually a line. Yesterday my husband and I went for the first time. Friendly service. I was surprised their selection is rather small. The sugar raised i ordered tasted fine, but my mouth started burning and itching immediately and increased with each bite, so I'm going to suggest there might be something in this dough that isn't in any of the other donut dough that I've eaten in my life from anywhere else. Danny's donuts are by far the best! Although they run out of the best flavor early (apple betty and blueberry) but all of their other donuts are still delicious. In addition to donuts, they have great tasting bagels! The everything bagel is good (though could use more EB seasoning) and they put a fair amount of cream cheese. The jalapeño bagel is pretty spicy too! Yum! The customer service is great and they seem to have the whole family working there. If you're in need of a large order I'd recommend calling the day before so you aren't wiping out the whole case for everyone else, and to make sure you get that full dozen of apple betty's! They don't have a restroom but if you ask the flower shop next door they might let you go in. read more

Thanks to Brandi L's detailed review and mention of vegan donut options at Danny's Donuts, I decided to pay another visit. A previous review seemed to imply that most of Danny's donuts were vegan, so I purchased their famous blueberry cake donuts. While delicious, I could tell not long after I ate them that they were not vegan as my body is very sensitive to egg and dairy products. On this recent visit, I saw that there is a note on the front window that states that vegan donuts are available due to popular request, but only on the weekends (and I believe they only sell them by the dozen, but am not sure). Their vegan donut option is based on a strawberry cake dough, and I ordered a dozen with half chocolate glazed. The donuts were absolutely delicious, very moist with just the right balance of sweetness and strawberry flavor notes. The taste and texture of these donuts are far better than the vegan donuts I've had from The Goods in Carlsbad. They are also cheaper, at around $1.40 each per dozen (compared to $3 plus at The Goods). I am hoping that Danny's Donuts will one day offer these vegan options a few times during the week also so I can pick some up for work. read more

At the suggestion of my coworker, I stopped by on a weekend to pick up some vegan donuts for my mom. Danny's donuts offer two vegan cake donuts - pistachio and strawberry either with maple glaze, chocolate glaze, or plain. The day I stopped by, they were only selling the strawberry flavor (I believe they alternate vegan flavors every weekend, but I'm not 100% sure - I'd call in advance). Side note: you can also call in advance if you'd like an order of vegan donuts. The donut was delicious! One wouldn't expect it to be vegan at all. The texture was spot on, not dry or hard like some vegan cake donuts can be, and it wasn't too sweet. I second my coworker's recommendation - try their vegan donuts. Showed up with only a few people in line, they were super friendly, and guided me to some great choices - apple betty, blueberry, pistachio, creme puff, old fashioned... But that blueberry, wow! I've been to Danny's Donuts twice now and been blown away each time. The prices are great (I spent $7.85 for 6 donuts), especially for how good the donuts are. I've tried the pistachio, blueberry, and fruity pebbles donuts. Fruity pebbles donut was great, but the blueberry and pistachio donuts were excellent! They remind me of a muffin in donut form, were moist and had a light glaze. They're famous for their blueberry donuts and now I can see why. If you're a pistachio ice cream fan, I highly recommend giving that flavor a try! Easily worth the 15+ minute drive from Oceanside. Will definitely go back as long as I live in the area. read more

Really good donuts are hard to find these days -- too many franchises that are all about cutting costs. Danny doesn't do that. He uses fresh ingredients only and changes the cooking oil regularly. So, if you're in the mood for a treat, stop by. Our favorite is the cinnamon cake donut... but if you go early Sunday morning, please leave one for us! And here's a tip: We put one in the microwave for half a minute or so on low -- just enough to warm it up. read more

I went today after calling and finding out they have VEGAN donuts!!!! I was so excited because I usually drive pretty far for them, and north county is lacking in the vegan game. They only have them on the weekends, they are strawberry cake donuts. You can also get them glazed on the spot (maple or chocolate). They currently keep them off display which makes me sad, but there is a sign on the window which is awesome! My advice for the business is, pre glaze some of these delicious cruelty free pastries, and put them on display! They taste amazing, but my glaze was not cooled and hardened like the other donuts on display. The workers are really sweet, and the location is really cute. Could use some more plants and flowers and decorations considering it's next door to the flower shop! Support each other! Go vegan! Great donuts, and the workers at Danny's are extremely nice--when I paid for my order, they gave me a free mini blueberry cake donut, still warm and dripping with glaze. They offer a good selection of everything except crullers. Plenty of cake donuts, a few old-fashioneds, all the standard raised varieties, plus apple fritters, Boston crèmes, jelly donuts, and donut holes. But the one that really caught my eye was an apple "foldover" (which I'll call it for lack of a better term); it's similar to a fritter, only it is neatly folded up in thirds. The combination of a crispy outside and cinnamony inside was just excellent. The cake donuts at Danny's were light and airy, with just enough glaze to give them the right amount of sweetness. I particularly liked the blueberry cake donut, especially because it was still warm. The cinnamon cake was also good, but the chocolate raised, although big and fluffy, didn't seem to have enough chocolate flavor in the icing. That wasn't the case with the maple bar, though, as it hit the spot. Glad I made the trip to check out this place! read more
