Went back last Friday night. Still great. We haven't gone in a while since we've been hitting Old Chicago Pizza and Tavern mostly, but wanted a change. Dano's was still great. Good service. We split a small pizza and Philly Cheesesteak. Took a look at my old review and apparently we had the cheesesteak back then too. It was very good - thanks to adding jalapeno peppers on it. Without the jalapeno's I think it may have been a little bland. The bun was very good and with the jalapeno on it I'd order it again. Had a small salad that came with the Cheesesteak and the Ken's Bleu cheese dressing was great. Crisp wedge salad...basic....iceberg lettuce, tomato, a little bacon and the dressing. Pizza was also very good. We'll keep coming back. read more

Great place. Atmosphere is pretty cool. Thy, unlike most places will honor specials after the time is up. Thy r very nice to do this. And. For all you oldies but goodies. Lol They have pinball machines. I grew up playing pinball. It's nice to see a few around. The staff are absolutely great to deal with. I sure hope this place makes it in the pizza market. The pizza is fantastic and so are the hot subs. I always get one or the other every time I go and I go at least once a week! The decor is standard college pizza place and has a lot of sports memorabilia for both the Gamecocks and the Yankees. There's TV going all the time with sports events and the music is pretty good. Since I can not get to NY regularly (smile), Dano's has become my best option for a pizza that best reminds me of pizza from the Bronx! If you want a pizza and not just a slice, order the buffalo chicken pizza.... it has a little kick but still a great choice on the menu. read more

Great pizza! Five stars for the pizza and 3 for the service. The pizza is everything I hoped for and precisely as I remember from growing up in the area. It's fluffy in a way that appropriate for New York style with tasty crust, perfectly balanced cheese and sauce, and the combined tastes made for a perfect pizza pie. The service was spotty considering it wasn't very busy but honestly once the pizza and I didn't particularly care. It's a sports bar atmosphere which isn't my scene but that didn't detract from in any way from my experience. I highly recommend this place! read more

3 times the past 10 years I have been to Dano's. 2 times I had the pizza and it was soggier than the paper plate that it was served on. They are stingy on the toppings which are cut very small as well. The calzone has no flavor and they do not put ricotta cheese in it. I am from Chicago so coming to Columbia it was very hard for me to find any pizza that is even close to Chicago pizza. Dano's is the best that I can find. Their thin crust is exceptionally good and they even cut it into squares for me. The only complaint that I had was that they do not have green olives. I love those on my pizza. Best pizza in Columbia, by far. If you like New York style pizza with a perfect thin crust and decadent toppings, this is closest you'll get in Columbia. Every pizza I've tried has been delicious, but my personal faves are the Meat Lover and Buffalo Chicken. The Greek salad is also super delicious. The dressing is amazing! Pizza is good. Atmosphere/beer is good. Waitstaff can be hit or miss. If it's busy then good luck. They can be aloof /apathetic but at least nice to look at. There is obviously a measurement done when hiring these girls. For pizza I think Pizza man is better but only for take out...sucks in that place with all the smokers. read more

Pizza was good! The dough tasted fresh and had great texture. Not a whole lot of variety when it comes to toppings but what they had was good. We went during a US World Cup game. We were seated promptly and rarely waited long for anything. Lots of big TVs, making it a good place to watch sporting events. Downside- floaters in one of our beers. Kind of gross but forgivable in my opinion if it doesn't happen every time. Waitress was a little overbearing at times. She was nice but was constantly at our table. Weird thing to complain about, but it was kind of annoying. Also a little pricey 55 for a lg pizza, salad, and 4 craft beers. read more

Best pizza in columbia in my opinion. Atmosphere is great, they always have some games playing. The downside of this place is the waitstaff. They are there to get your orders, then they are gone. The Pizza is awesome but dine in for a better experience. I've placed to-go orders and they say it will be ready in 20 minutes but when I get there (20 minutes later) I end up standing around waiting another 25 minutes. Pretty well done... I had delivered the stromboli, veal parm with spaghetti, and a small anti pasta salad. The entire meal was well cooked, full of flavor and the small salad was a generous portion. The veal parm was an incredibly large portion and ooh soo cheesy. My only complaint is that they used sausage balls instead of the true shaved Italian sausage for the stromboli. First time there tonight, wait staff was Un - accommodating, coke was flat, sweet tea tasted watery and bitter....I ordered mozzarella sticks and a calzone. ..pretty sure the mozzarella sticks are the same I get from Walmarts frozen food section and the calzone was 93 percent cheese and the rest was store bought bagged pepperoni and dead vegetables....the "chef" even looped my dead onion through an olive, a pepperoni and a self made hole in the calzone....it was like they had time to play with the food but not prepare something decent....I'd expect this kind of atmosphere and service from a pizzeria run by 6th graders....do yourself a favor and order marcos pizza instead of this over priced garbage....Danos sucks.... read more

The South has good bbq, but finding good pizza here is impossible. Dano's had a decent rating so gave it a shot this weekend. Place is clean, the house salad was good. Service was slow and the pizza mediocre. We ordered a small deluxe, which was plenty for the two of us. It was okay, but my biggest issue was the mushrooms come from a can! No thanks! Canned mushrooms ruined the entire pizza with the tinny taste and rubberized texture. read more

The closest thing you'll get to New York style pizza in the South! Thin crust, large slices, and great ingredients. Friendly and quality staff, good people all around. The beer selection is pretty quality for a pizza joint. Mondays and Tuesdays, select pitchers are only $3! Beer prices are very reasonable every other night of the week too. Lots of sitting room in the dining area. I wish there was more bar space, as they can only seat 5 or 6 people at it. When I moved back downtown, this was the FIRST place I went to for lunch.
